This is a place that's been in Chesapeake for many years. Their pizza is great, one of my favorites.

We stopped by Chesapeake pizza tonight for dinner. They are located on South Battlefield Boulevard in the Great Bridge section of Chesapeake. Before we even walked in we could smell the delicious pizza being cooked in their oven. This is a classic pizza place and it's reminiscent of the places that I used to visit when I was much younger, say after the high school football game was over. Sarah, our server was prompt, friendly and very helpful with menu questions and suggestions. We kept it simple tonight with a small tossed salad andThe Chesapeake Pizza Special. The salad was good and the ingredients were fresh. I really enjoyed the Italian dressing as well. The Chesapeake Pizza Special was loaded with fresh ingredients and the pizza crust was delicious. I think next time I ask for a slightly crispy crust but I have no complaints with what came out. We really enjoyed ourselves here, and we are already planning another visit soon. I highly recommend this wonderful pizza place and I suggest that you check them out when you're in the area. read more

Ordered the Chesapeake pizza (duh! Why wouldn't you?) and the kids wanted pepperoni pizza! It's Superbowl Sunday so they had a special on pizza. But one get one 1/2 off! Also...pitcher of beer is $11.99! So we had a pitcher of Devils Backbone Plenty of parking available and staff was on point! Lots of tables available and it fit us perfectly for a family of 5. I wouldn't wait too late in the day because they do.run out of food lol Oh! And it's cash only. They have an ATM inside. Just let your waitress know that you used the ATM and they deduct the fee off your tab read more

Great pizza. I love cheese, so I order extra. I'd give 5 Stars if they accepted Credit Cards, and the beer glasses weren't so small.

Great Pizza. But my favorite there is the Greek salad. And a slice of the groups pizza. Get the one with everything on it! Chesapeake Pizza is cash only! read more

My salad was fresh and my fav Chesapeake special. Happy to be out of the house on this busy Wednesday! read more

This place is HOPPING on the weekends! And they only take cash. But it's nice that they have a cash machine in the lobby. Their pizzas are fantastic! Perfect amount of toppings and not overdone or burnt. I will be back. read more

This is my grandparents favorite location pizza spot. We ordered to-go last time I visited and it was pretty good. I personally wasn't a fan of the crust but sauce was good and good amount of toppings. Pizza was ready on time, and the worker on the phone was nice. I didn't go inside but it looks like an old school Pizza Hut building. read more

As soon as we walk through the door, the guy said they ran out of dough. The problem is they sell other things other than pizza.. it didn't feel inviting so we just left. The guy wasn't rude but, it felt like they didn't want to be bothered. They were still open with no dough. To explain to my son why we had to leave just didn't feel right. read more

Fantastic pizza!! We had two 14" pizzas for 4 that we took a whole pizza home. One spaghetti with meatballs and also a plain meatball! The price is awesome and the pitchers of beer are the best price in Chesapeake and it is local beer to boot! Not our first time here and will not be the last!! See you next Friday! read more

Always amazing pizza and service. Bring cash or suffer an ATM fee. Definitely a stop on the way to the beach or on the way home after vacation. read more

After 25 years of eating here I think we're done. Too many times they are out of beer. Come on your a pizza place. Keep the taps full. Now there is only "craft beer" which is crap. Let me know if you change back and maybe we will stop in!!! read more

The margarita pizza was perfect. The crust was firm but not stiff, toppings were distributed generously and equally and the sauce? You should be so lucky. It is the best I've had in town. The pie was hot and ready exactly when they said it would be, and it was hearty, hot and neat. No toppings sliding off the side, cheese exactly where it's meant to be - can't go wrong - I wish I'd have known sooner. read more

Always delicious! We've come here for years and it's one of our preferred family celebration restaurants. Great family run spot and friendly staff. read more

I'm visiting family from NYC, and they took me out to Chesapeake Pizza. If you have a nostalgia for the 80s Pizza Huts, this is the closest thing around, but there are no juke boxes or Arcade games. Pizza is fresh and delicious. Also, we arrived on a Friday night and the place was packed. The waiting list moved fairly well and the staff who work here are very friendly, helpful and professional. The only reason I'm not 5 starting them is because they only take cash. read more

Love them and always find a reason to go. The pizza is always good and other food we have ordered is also so yummy!

After more than 30 years coming here, I really do believe their pizza is the best around. I especially love that it's a local family restaurant and not a chain. However, some things have changed. They no longer can accommodate parties larger than 10 without splitting them up. The separate room in the past could accommodate our large parties over 10 but it does not. Also, their Chesapeake special pizza tastes the same, the crust seems a bit thinner. They frequently tend to run out of pizza early in the evenings on Fridays and Saturdays. Service is still great. read more

Great pizza and redone interior...and new menu items shows why this local pizza restsurant is a top place. Great pizza and lasagna have long been a standard.now the have added Tiramisu and Spanakopita ( maybe for a limited time) read more

Well, they got us again. Tried to go in for dinner and they closed early. They have this saying that they use when they wanna close early, they say "sold out". I don't really know what that means. What did they sell out? The whole menu? Is every item on the menu sold out? This has happened four times to me at this restaurant. They need to change their hours online. If they want to close at 6 o'clock or 5 o'clock, why don't they just say we're only open till five or 6 o'clock? Why do they say they're open till eight and then continually turn people away? It's very frustrating! read more

The pizza here is pretty good. It is not a favorite among others, but I would definitely eat it again. My family and I dined here a few days ago and upon walking in, the parking lot was pretty full. We walked in and the restaurant has a sour smell to it. I was turned off, but fought the smell because my family wanted to eat there. Luckily, they chose an area to sit that I couldn't smell the awful smell too much, but it was a bit unsettling. The food arrived in record time. About 6pm, the large pizza dough was out so we were served 2 small pies to equal the large. We started with small salads and they were good and fresh - made to order. The pizza crust does have a hint of sweetness IMO. It's OK, but not a favorite. If you are in search of finding a good pizza spot, check them out, you may like this place. Plenty of parking. Have fun and enjoy life :) read more

Chesapeake Pizza has been a family favorite for decades. Everything on the menu is consistently good. It's always a good experience.

Best pizza in the Virginia tidewater area. I believe it to be the best I've ever had!

Great hometown, home made pizza and pasta dishes! It's a long time Chesapeake staple you will not be disappointed!

BOOM! It's been a while since we visited this landmark spot. My wife and I had the Chesapeake Special pizza, Greek Salad, and a few drinks. We were in a hurry to get our daughter from band rehearsal and service was EXCEPTIONAL! This is a very welcoming spot with great food and service. how this place had an overall rating of 3.8 is beyond me. the pizza is amazing, staff is great...the fact they sell out of pizzas on seemingly a nightly basis should be testament to how good their pizzas are! read more

We had been driving all day from Savannah and we arrived in CoVA just in time for dinner. We asked my brother and sister-in-law where we could order to feed the fam. They immediately said Chesapeake Pizza (CP), which is a small family owned business that has been around since 1973! We placed an order for takeout (because it turns out they don't deliver). - Parking - Private lot, lots of spots. - Noms - My SIL told us that CP created the Family Special during the pandemic and people loved it so much that once things eased up, they kept it on the menu. This is what we ordered! Family Special includes: 1 large pizza (up to 4 toppings); 1 sub (of choice) OR pasta dish; 2 large house salads (4 small sides of dressing included. We ordered an additional cheese pizza because we had a lot of mouths to feed. I loved the variety of the Family meal. I loved having the salad to balance out the carbs and cheese. We chose pepp, sausage, green peppers and onions for the pizza and chose Spaghetti and Meatballs for the pasta. We got 2 boxes full of salad. Everything was fresh and hearty. All generous portions! The Cheese Pizza was a hit with the kids. - TLC - The lady who took my order was quick and efficient and it was the same when picking up the order. - Heads Up - *Dine in and take out only *They can sell out and when they do, they close, hence the no answer on the telephone. This happened to me on another night when I was trying to order from them again. *Cash only - I don't ever carry much cash on me, never more than $10 haha, so this was good to know before heading out. Definitely would order from them again, but will have to plan to place orders earlier! Stay safe, Friends! read more

Is it the best pizza? No, but it's pretty decent and my family loves coming here for the atmosphere, great service, and inexpensive meal. They have great garlic bread and we love that they do soda pitchers. We really like the retro interior and exterior and recommend plain ole pepperoni or pepperoni and sausage. Can't say we've tried much else. It's always busy and popular, and always a solid choice. TIP: They are cash only. However they have an ATM on premises and discount the ATM fee from your bill. read more

I ordered the vegetarian I had tomatoes, onions, mushrooms, a lot of cheese. It was nice and hot and the crust was perfectly baked. But I wish it had more vegetables. They seem kind of skimpy. Also, they are cash only which I didn't see any reviews or notification on their sitethat they were cash only. I do like that their pizzas come in three different slices. read more

Pizza has been delicious each time we've been there. We always get the Chesapeake (everything in it) which is their usual special on Sunday. The garlic bread is also delicious and comes with marinara. The sweet tea is good if you're into tea. The place is always clean too which is important in a restaurant. They are cash only so stop at the ATM before going. They have one there by the checkout if you forget though. read more

Very good "pan" style pizza, baked to order by a family owned business in operation for over 45 years. Called in a large cheese ($12) and pepperoni ($13) on a Friday at 12n, ready for pickup in 25 minutes. Heat hot with a good amount of sauce but a tad less cheese than I would have expected considering the breast pan-style crust. Again, a very good lunch meal that fed 4 people for under $30. CASH ONLY, NO CREDIT CARDS OR CHECKS! They do have an ATM in the foyer and will deduct the $1.50 service fee if you use it to make a purchase. Worked on my previous visit when I used it to buy a gift card for a co-worker/fellow pizza fiend! Ample parking spaces in private lot, not to mention men's and women's restrooms off of the front foyer hallway. A couple large wall-mounted HDTVs also present. read more

All I can say is that this place seems like your general family-friendly pizza restaurant. Upon entering, the place gave me vibes like I was about to eat at a pizza hut when most still had dining rooms. The service I got was really great and my server was really nice. The only downside was that she took her time to get back to me a couple of times. It was not busy there that day, and honestly, she could have moved a little bit faster. Also, I was not a big fan of it being cash only. In this day and age, more and more restaurants allow debit cards. I feel like that would be a very worthwhile investment at this place. When it comes to the food, I really liked it. The cheesy bread mixed with the bacon added it more flavor to me. Surprisingly, the pizza was very good. I thought it would have a lot of feta in it, but surprisingly, the ingredients were mixed well. Overall, I would definitely recommend this place to get pizza with your family, and I do plan to come back someday. read more

So yummy I had to come back two days later with my husband and help you guys out with some more information!!! They are cash only- with atm inside. You can seat yourself. We ordered more tossed salads large! The Italian dressing is my go to my husband said the blue cheese was very good. We ordered a large pepperoni pizza so nice and hot the cheese is so stringy yummy! We suggest using a fork and knife so you don't have the cheese slide off like ours did! This time we ordered our kids the meatball spaghetti! They loved it had good flavor the meatballs were huge!! I honestly don't even know where to start. This place is *the* definition of disappointing. First off, the service was painfully slow. We were seated, and then ignored for what felt like an eternity. Our waitress seemed totally uninterested, and when she finally took our order, she didn't even write anything down. Guess what? She got the order completely wrong. The pizza? Wow, just wow. I've had better frozen pizza from the grocery store. The crust was bland and soggy, and it looked like it had been sitting under a heat lamp for hours. The cheese was rubbery and the toppings were scarce -- definitely not worth the price. And don't even get me started on the sauce, which tasted like it came out of a can. I've had better meals at chain restaurants, which says a lot. Oh, and the place itself? A total dive. It smells like grease and regret, and the decor looks like it hasn't been updated since the '90s. The tables were sticky, the floors were dirty, and the whole place had this uncomfortable, rundown vibe. Honestly, I don't know how this place stays in business. Save your time and money -- go anywhere else. Even if you're craving pizza, just order from a chain. You'll get better food and service at half the price. Will never return. read more
