Cristaldo's has the best pizza in Chesapeake/Virginia Beach by a long shot..Even then "New York" pizza places do not come close. 10/10

My family and I popped in to Cristaldo's Pizza once before hoping to dine in, but to our surprise, we opened the door to a completely barren room. The tables and chairs had been completely removed with only a fridge holding drinks and a table stacked with empty pizza boxes. It seems that during COVID-19 pandemic, they had pivoted to a take out only model, understandably, and stuck with that model ever since. At the time, take out only was not an option we were looking for, so we left in search of another dine in establishment. - Parking - Center lot. They are located in the same center as Soulivia's and Crave Bakery & Coffee Bar. After running errands, we returned to Cristaldo's and decided to order a pie to take home. We ordered a large pizza with half The Cristaldo's and half Meat Lovers. The pie took about 20 minutes to make and we stayed in the restaurant while they made it. It was nice that they had a TV in the room to pass the time. The pizza was still nice and hot when we got home. They use fresh ingredients, including the mushrooms! I've mentioned this in previous reviews regarding pizzas. A MAJOR pet peeve of mine is when pizza joints use canned mushrooms, but nice to know that Cristaldo's have higher standards and use fresh mushrooms! Their pie is a thinner, underlying crust with an average size outer edge crust. Not too big and not too small. It was pretty tasty, but I wish that they had put a tad bit more sauce. I like it saucy! Delicious pizza! Huge servings and real homemade taste. Feels like a family owned business since everyone is always really nice over the phone and at pick up. My husband usually goes inside to pick it up so I don't know what the inside is like, but we have always enjoyed our pizza and sides. Highly recommend! read more

I had recently moved from Long Island, NY to Chesapeake, Virginia. We were originally told that the local pizza wasn't the best. Then we discovered Cristaldo's! Located in the quaint little town of Edinburgh right off the Hillcrest Parkway. Unlike most pizzerias, Cristaldo's is not a sit down restaurant. They either deliver or make orders for pickup and their hours of operation are limited to 4pm to 8 pm. I was able to submit and pay for my order in advance via the " Slice" app. I arrived on the scheduled time and my order was ready to go. We got the Caprese Pizza and their garlic bites. Their pizza is thin crust bliss and was absolutely amazing. The garlic bites were also very flavorful and the dough was very soft. What is even better is that I just purchased a condo located less than five minutes away from this location. Hats off to the owners of this establishment. I will be definitely be coming back and looking forward to trying the other options on their menu! read more

This place is great! Best NY style pizza around. At $15 for a 18inch large pizza, there is no complaint here. The food is always fresh. The seating are inside is small but it works. We have eaten inside a few times and order take out all the time just wish they had delivery! The staff and owners are always friendly! We call and order the same thing so much they know when it is us lol. I have seen some complaints about prices on here and a few other review venues... Outstanding food, from apps to desert the food is delicious! It's my favorite pizza/ American Italian restaurant in the Chesapeake area. Their Alfredo is made in house and is so tasty and comforting. Words can't describe the perfection of their pizza, it's how pizza is supposed to be; a crispy, yet fluffy crust with the toasty flavor of a brick oven, with toppings or just plain cheese, it's a must try and try again kinda pizza. Update: After writing an honest review, a woman named Joanie Knight (presumably an owner) contacted me on facebook and had the audacity to imply that their awful service and food is somehow my fault! She said "Mr. Hundley, were sorry you had a bad experience. You could have called and told us how you felt and we would have accommodated you. Instead you chose to trash us on Facebook. What a nice man." So, if you'd like to spend a ton of money for food that's mediocre at best and then get attacked on your personal facebook, I'd highly recommend the fine folks over at Cristaldo's! I ordered take out for dinner this evening and let me tell you I'm very pleased. I ordered a small mushroom and sausage pizza, a calzone with pepperoni and mushroom, and a mini cheese pizza for the little one. They told me 25-30 min on the phone and it was ready when I got there right at the 30 minute mark. The pizzas were on point with their thin, NY style crust and the fresh toppings. I was however a little disappointed about their calzone, it was delicious (I had a taste, it was hubby's) but when we opened the bag it was not covered all the way with the foil, and the crust was a total bubble on top and the stuffing was all the way to the bottom. But like I said, it was still very tasty. The inside was not at all what I had imagined it to be. I thought it would be a quaint, dim dining room, but it was just a room with tables and chairs. I saw a television in the corner ceiling and the high bar was the only thing separating the kitchen and dining area. It doesn't matter. The food was very good and the people were very friendly! Escape the Pizza Huts and Papa Johns and enjoy this great place for homemade pizza. We stopped in and got welcomed by the waitress who took our drink orders. Their were some cans of soda and bottled water in the cooler under the tv. Sweet tea was in the back. We were seated in their single dining area with a few tables and chairs. There was one other family eating besides us. Bathrooms were very clean and smelled good. I ordered a pizza with the Greek salad. The salad was amazing. (Little small for $6.95). Expected the dinner portion. As we were walking out I noticed a chalk board with the specials written on it. We weren't told they even had any. That's a little disappointing. Always amazing food! Extremely friendly and professional staff. Try any pizza or the eggplant parm! Only things I would change about this place: they always play the world news on the TV, which is fine for adults, but if you have kids with you there's a good chance you may not want them hearing/seeing what comes on. Also, they run the credit card behind the counter, and ask then ask you if you want to leave a tip and for how much.... This is just kind of awkward, especially when you the person ringing you up was your waitress. They should get a new register that allows you to put in your tip privately. But seriously the food is great and so is the staff so they still get 5 stars from me! read more

My husband and I came here for a date night. We were not impressed by the décor. It looks like a cafeteria. There is no ambiance. They appear to have a standard kitchen with a pass through "window". The drinks were served to us in cans, so I guess they do not have a soda machine. The waitress had a dirty shirt on. We were not told about the specials until my husband asked. Overall, it looks like they do not care about their appearance. The space itself was clean, just not what I would expect from an Italian restaurant...there is no "warmth". The food was okay. Nothing over the top great. I did like the way they made my eggplant though. I don't remember what my husband had, but he wasn't impressed. Will we go back? Probably not. We just were not impressed. Part of the dining-in experience is the environment that is provided and this one just doesn't have one that "screams" I care about our dining-in guests! PS-Do not expect fine dining, however, for the prices, I do expect a more warm/friendly dining-in experience...and a clean shirt on a waitress. read more

Having just moved from Norfolk (where awesome restaurants are a plenty!) to the country the pickin's are slim but we're die hard eat local folks and this was on our to do list. With the bad reviews CP has received I had to see for myself. While I was extremely disappointed in my fried 'shrooms (they were overcooked and hard to crack) the bruschetta had a great flavor with a little bite. Definitely something I would try again. I had the Cristaldo's mini pizza (pepperoni, sausage, meatballs, 'shrooms, onions and green peppers) and the flavor was quite good. I'd definitely order it again but not to eat at the restaurant. The thin crust couldn't support all the toppings fresh but I bet a reheat wouldn't be a problem. It was a lot of pizza despite being a mini. I ate 2 slices (with my fork and knife) there and brought the rest home. The tiramisu was a nice treat after we got home. My husband had the baked ziti, my mom the baked ravioli and my dad the spaghetti and meatballs. Those meatballs coulda been a burger!! I had some of my husband's ziti...not bad, not the best but pretty good. Some folks have commented on their costs. My party of 4 ate dinner, had 2 appetizers and I had a dessert and our bill was only $71. I think that's pretty reasonable for the amount of food we received. Our waitress was quite attentive. I will say that place does a BOOMING pizza take out business. I'll try them again despite the hard 'shrooms. read more

Small Family Business at it's best! True neighborhood pizza joint that does more than pizzas. You can see the owner cooking up a storm in the kitchen. I like that because you know he will take pride in the food served like no one else will. I have tried their Calamari, Chicken Parm, Pizza with everything, all great. I typically give good reviews.. I ordered two large peporoni pizzas on a Friday night ($36.00) It took around 40+ minutes for my order to come through. I had to ask a wait time. As i sat in the restaunt writing this review there are 9 people waiting around. There are plenty of other pizza places to go. Good luck to this place! Maybe other people had a better experience!
