best pizza in the 757, great thin crust NY pizza, great undercarriage, no flop, great flavor

On our way to Norfolk, my wife & I were itching for a good pizza for dinner. She went to Yelp and found this highly rated, well reviewed pizzeria. So we ordered the spicy pepperoni that many reviewers mentioned. Glad we did. When we arrived, we saw the front parking to be full. Fortunately, I looked at the Google Maps aerial view and saw the parking lot behind the pizzeria. We accessed the lot via an alleyway just past the pizzeria. The pizzeria is small. Has some seating but is more suited for takeaway orders. We got the pizza to go. When we opened the box, we were pleasantly surprised by how big the pizza was. Each of the six slices was about the size of some personal pizzas. The sauce & pepperonis were nice & spicy. The pizza was dotted with dabs of creamy ricotta cheese. Nice counterpoint to the spiciness. Fresh basil leaves added some flavour and looks. The crust was thin and delicious. Well worth the $22 price. We'll come back for the pizza whenever we're in Norfolk. read more

I couldn't quite put my finger on it, but I wasn't completely sure about the sincerity of the lady at the front. It also took an extremely long time to get my order, and I noticed several people receiving their food before I received mine. Personally, I'm not a big fan of runny pizza. That said, I did notice that the sauce tasted authentic, and the crust was light and crispy. The venue itself is very small, but they do offer outdoor seating, although it's uncovered. I accidentally ordered my pizza for pick up serval days in the future instead of the day of. When i went to the location they staff was more then willing to get a pie create for me. They even gave me a free banana cheese cake (which tasted amazing) My only complaint would be that the pie i did receive was burnt on 2-3 slices. Like the bottom plus the crust was black. And i had some garlic knots that were also burnt. Overall the staff are great, the food was good despite the burnt parts. However i don't know if i would go outta my way to come here again. We went with the summer specials on this visit, panzanella salad and summer pie. The salad was heirloom tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, focaccia, lemon vinaigrette, and basil. It was good but we thought there was too much bread. The pizza was topped with garlic oil, lo mo, provolone, salami, capicolo, purple onions, oregano, banana peppers, pesto, and red wine vinegar. It was good and we bought two slices home with us. The best pie, however, in our opinion is the 5 star spicy pepperoni which we normally order. None can compare. Service is consistently good and we always thoroughly enjoy sitting at the end of the counter and watching the carryout customers come and go while we savor our pizza and Mexican beer. read more

Thank you yelp for helping me find the best pizza in Norfolk Va. This pizza was very satisfying and tasty. We were surprised it was so large. One slice is huge. You get six slices each. The spicy pepperoni included, ricotta cheese, fresh basil and pepperoni with chili peppers, tomato sauce and lomo. They do offer outdoor dining. Nice area with tables available. They also offer indoor limited seating available. We ordered this to go. It was ready in 30 minutes. Piping hot and good to go. I highly recommend. Seems to be a popular spot in this area. Lo Mo pizzeria is a fabulous location for New York style woodfired pizza. Has somebody who has traveled to New York on many occasions and grew up with a father who is from New York City I have learned the many ways to judge and critique pizza and I have to say this place has it down pact. We did takeout and I'm glad that we ordered when we did which was about 6:30 PM on a Friday night because when we arrived at 7:45 when our pies were ready, they were sold out completely. The ambience inside of the restaurant seemed quaint. There were a few tables and they had deals on if you purchase pizza along with wine you get a discount. We love to get takeout pizza from Lomo! They are always fast and efficient. Their staff is kind and friendly. The restaurant is rather small with a few tables to eat in. There is about 10-12 parking spaces out front. We normally just get either the cheese or pepperoni and we ALWAYS get the garlic knots. I know people complain that there aren't any real pizza spots in the Hampton Roads. Well, Lo Mo is the real deal. I have a tradition of celebrating events with pizza. I'm so glad I chose Lo Mo this past celebration. Look at this pie and tell me it isn't beautiful. Let me tell you, the spice was there but the pockets of ricotta made the perfect balance. The pizza was cooked right (it wasn't a soggy, floppy mess like so many places), the sauce had good flavor, and the basil was fresh. They have a decent sized dining area. It was a take out order, so I can't speak too much about the service. But from the little interaction I had, they were very friendly and my pie was ready pretty quickly. This is the place to go!! Chris makes every pie with care and love. They are absolutely delicious. I cannot say enough about the flavor... you will want to eat the crust! That's how good it is. Oh how I love my Lo Mo Fridays. Yes, almost every Friday my boyfriend and I now get a large pepperoni pie with a side of their homemade ranch. This place is amazing, and nice take on a NY pizza. The crust was prefect! Thin and crispy with the airy fluffy outer crust. I liked the more dynamic flavors of the winter pie (kinda spicy but with sweet onion). The fungi pie could have used something to make it pop, like fresh herbs or a glaze. I've been following LOMO Pizzeria on Instagram for months now, patiently waiting for them to open up, and I'm glad I was finally able to try it! FOOD: We ordered the spicy pep and their garden salad. Their ingredients are legit from a local garden, and you can taste them! Props to the owners for being so intentional about their ingredients. The crust is too crunchy for my taste, and the big pieces of cheese are a sweet touch but not my favorite. SERVICE: I called in advance to place an order, and the young woman on the phone was so nice and accommodating. She said my order would be ready in 30 minutes, but I was an hour away, so she said she'd adjust the time they'd start making the order so my food wouldn't be cold. When we picked it up, the place was packed! There was a vibe in there of camaraderie and positivity. I loved it. LOCATION: Can I say how much character this place has? I mean, the subway tile, the tomato jars as decoration, and the picnic tables as outdoor seating. So much thought went into the details of this location, and I really appreciate that. Let me just say, pizza is a food group for me! I can eat it any time of the day. Tonight we visited LoMo and I (we) had a great experience. The shop is a smaller place so don't think it's going to be easy to roll up w/ a party of 10, but I am certain they'd do their very best to accommodate you! It's dimly lit so there is no commercial feel, tasteful music was playing and the vibe was good. We ordered the spicy pepperoni with roasted garlic (comes on the side in oil, very yummy addition to mine) and the hot honey to drizzle. We also each had drinks and we got a bottle of sweet red wine. The pizza was delicious. Sourdough crust, which wasn't too dense. The edge crust was kind of airy, which, I liked (and no complaints from my son or his girlfriend). It had fluted dollops of ricotta and basil leaves, giving it a fresh touch. I'm assuming it was the owner who came to our table and asked how we liked it. We gave him props because it was good! Lo Mo is making some of the best pies in the 757, hands down. I'm a native New Yorker and a total pizza snob, but Lo Mo has made me happy every time I've gotten a pizza from them. The crust is perfect, thin, light, crispy, burnt in just the right amount, while still foldable. The pepperoni they use is really excellent too. The spicy pepperoni is really interesting, I love Calabrian chilies as they always give a nice kick, and the ricotta is a really nice balance to that. The service is always friendly too. I do wish they had some customizable options on their pies, you can't just pick your own toppings like Italian sausage, onions, mushrooms, etc. That being said the Margharita and the two pepperoni options are right up my alley. Lomo is Bueno! Thin crispy crust NY Style, bake resembling Chelsea Bakehouse wood fire oven. I questioned a "Potato" pizza but it works, flavor and texture; though not something I would pair, "Fall" was also good but I like squash and prosciutto. Gotta say Cheese and Margarita varieties were top notch. Love that they're in Riverview. Can't say enough good things about this place. Best pizza I've had in Virginia. Inside is cute and homey. I probably eat here 3 or 4 times a month since I'm in va Beach. Highly recommend the cheese pizza, its like a mix of an authentic italian pizza and a ny pizza. All of their pies especially their seasonal ones are great.
