I've been to chelo's a million times. I'm surprised I've never written a review. They have a large menu and are consistently good. Large location with lots of parking. They have the best honey mustard salad dressing in the world. IYKYK. My favorite menu items are the Turkey dinner available on Thursdays and Sundays or the Crazy chicken salad.

Honestly how can this place stay in business. Side salad was TINY the fries were cold the fish was dry and the Cole slaw had a funny taste like glue or alcohol, just weird taste. The bartender was attentive and pleasant and did replace the cold fries. The lighting and crowd noise was comfortable. Come on Chelo's DO BETTER!

Outstanding return to this Greenville, location for a group of four. Our entrees were amazing from sandwiches (Reuben, Cheesesteak & Bacon Burger) to fish and chips. Price are fair, and food arrives piping hot. Service was impeccable, and drinks never went dry. Couple shortfalls on the amount of steak on the steak sandwich as well on the fish, too. We will be back!

I was in this part of the State and got a little hungry... I remembered that I had some Chelo's rewards point in my account so I went to this Chelo's for lunch. I sat at the bar since I was by myself. Up until 3pm, you can get some really good deals for lunch. I opted for the burger with curly fries. It was only $7.99. I asked for the burger medium and the curly fries well done....both came perfectly made. The beef patty was juice and well seasoned...the fries were very crispy and crunchy... the way I like them. The bun was nicely toasted and buttered...very fresh.... I had a really good filling lunch and after using my rewards points, my total out of pocket expense was $0.10...I gave the bartender $2 as a 20+% tip and I was a happy customer.

This is where the locals hang in Rhode Island good service dinner type food clean restaurant chain in New England it's like a fancy Friendly's

Banana Cream pie. Part of the special. Large enough to be an entire meal.

Excellent waitress service. Side dishes not hot - waitress offered to replace. I decided to take them for later. Main dish was ok. Tasty. Chicken pot pie loaded with chicken. Very large portions. Minor note - portions of the menu are written in a red font on a black background, which is very hard to read.

Chelo's Turkey Club is good, but nothing crazy. Just your basic, nostalgic club sandwich. Pretty good size and the turkey wasn't dry. $13.50 is a little high in my opinion. Their curly fries were very good though. Nice seasoning, warm and crispy.

    Strawberry Shortcake in a goblet!

KelCar = Former GottaQue…read more Sidenote: I did not like GottaQue (we ordered once during Covid to support businesses in our own community and they messed up the whole order, it took way longer than we were told and we paid a decent amount of money for a bad meal.) But we are back! We have a coupon for the RI Food Fight- Wings competition. We enter the small store front. Seating for about 7 with a bench for waiting. This place is really supporting take-out. This one a one Pitmaster Mike show. He was very nice and informative. He informed us that the wings are naked so he sent us home with 4 different types of sauces. Not just a little to go sauce container, like a small size deli container he filled half way worth of sauce! Although I was not a fan of any of the sauces really. The wings were cooked to perfection (smoked just right my husband declared) and the coupon was for 6 wings- Mike went above and beyond! I like my wings to have a little salt or an awesome sauce- that's where these wings fell a little flat for me. They were good but not my jam. I also ordered a side of mac and cheese. It was $7.99 and it was a very small serving- that small deli container. It was congealed. Maybe a liquid cheese and shredded cheese that didn't fully melt? I am not quite sure what's happening here but i did not like it. I have to say Mike was nice, it didn't take long for the order but there was a whole lot of sold out food (cole slaw, cornbread, brisket, etc...) and the kitchen seamed unorganized and maybe a little sleazy? I don't want to call it dirty but I wasn't impressed with how it looked.

When I presented my @rifoodfights coupon he took the time to explain that, for the competition, he serves up the wings naked, with the sauces on the side, so you can try them all. He also is very proud of the plain wings, and he should be. They are delicious plain. Smoked and then deep fried to 18o degrees, they have a smoky flavor and a nice crisp skin. They are contenders in this competition without the sauce. The sauces the gave out were a buffacue, tiger sauce, house bbq and a mustard based sauce. All were fantastic but the tiger sauce was my favorite. It was horseradish based - the same sauce the put on their roast beef sandwich- and was a standout. When most hot sauce is pepper based, the horseradish was such a surprise in flavor. Do your self a favor and go and see Mike. You won't be disappointed. (He gave me a sample of the roast beef and it was perfectly seasoned. I will be back to try the sandwich!)

I've seen on social media that people complained about the new location having mainly street parking - we both found parking easily on the street - quit yer b*tchin' people lol. Besides I believe they have a lot behind the restaurant that we didn't have to use but it's there if needed. We were the only ones there when we first walked in but more patrons came in as the night went on. Made our way to the bar and orders were flowing - one warning if you're sitting at the bar, it is an open kitchen so there will be alot of aromas flowing through and may get on your clothes but really it'll just remind you of how good the food was. Also, the barstools are not the most comfy - metal stools with no backing so after 2.5 hours, we were feeling a bit achy. We ordered way more than we should've but everything just looked so good! We got the croquettes (our absolute fave), the cauliflower, the pizza du jour (I think it had spinach, pepperoni, ricotta and garlic) and for entrees we got the fish tacos and the Orecchiette. Not one complaint - everything was divine. Croquettes were melty, smoky little nuggets of heaven and our favorites bites of the night. The pizza had a great balance of flavors and the crust was thin and crispy. We were so full but had a few bites of the fish tacos and pasta - the fish was cooked to perfection and the aioli it came with topped it perfectly. Pasta was different - had a scallion cream sauce that was a nice change up from your typical Alfredo. Don't sleep on this place - the street is busy being on a main road but so well worth the visit, I didn't catch our bartender's name but he and a few other servers were super personable and friendly - gave us just enough time in between meals and personal space to not hover. Absolutely will return!

I gave an extra star mainly for them. - the Queso fries were good - the birra tacos were good but just a bit on the salty side. - the atmosphere looked cool Dislikes: - The boom boom crispy shrimp tacos- I don't enjoy lettuce in tacos and they loaded it with way too much sauce. It felt drenched so I couldn't really finish it. - Nashville hot fried chicken tacos- again too much lettuce and way too much sauce which seemed like sour cream. The chicken wasn't crispy and the taste was just ok. - and avocado tacos- way too much mayo all over this taco. It was overbearing. Might work for some people but not for me. - the smell of the unfinished wood was a bit too strong for my senses. Im always open to trying new taco spots and I hope they keep improving.

We opted for just KBBQ and no hotpot as the hotpot burners aren't built into the tables so there would have to be burner setup placed on the table which would just crowd the space in my opinion. They also have several appy type options to order as well to accompany the meal. The apps can be ordered by scanning the QR code on the table that will directly connect to your check. My fave app was the fried dumpling and for meat options, I absolutely love the pork cheek - I like to really cook it down as it's pretty fatty but it's deliciousness in my belly. The pork belly, calamari and bulgogi chicken were pretty good as well. We really enjoyed our visit and our waitress was great, super attention and friendly. The only downside is that with having to cook your own food, anything that is seasoned will cook and smell to high heavens on your clothes - but so worth it. Can't wait to come back.
