New owners and huge improvement in food and customer service. The honey spice wings are fire. They are jumbo and made fresh, not precooked or frozen so be patient. I highly recommend. I stopped by in November to see if they would be interesting in advertising in North Providence Wrestling Tournament Ad book (local businesses donate anywhere from $25 for 1/4 page to $100 for whole) that is passed out at door at yearly Highschool wrestling tournament. The owner said she already placed an ad with someone else who came in. She didn't..... I dropped off a letter (see photo) last week asking for their support (sponsor, gift card, small donation) for yearly funny for funds benefit. I explained this year it benefits NPHS wrestling team as well as a teammate recovering from cancer treatment. My husband stopped by again and owner pretended to not be owner and said she'd give it to owner. I love to support local but have a hard time doing so with businesses that don't give back to the community and blatantly bullshit people rather than a polite "no I'm not interested." Beef shawarma and falafel rice plate is my go to each time. Comes with rice and side salad. So fresh, filling and not overly heavy. You don't get eater's remorse because it's not greasy and unhealthy. Located right on mineral spring so it's close by to other areas when you're out running errands. They have a small parking lot. I was need of a healthy snack and thought that a Falafel Wrap would be the perfect choice. This location is in a busy intersection on Mineral Spring Ave, so choose your time of arriving here wisely. I ordered a Falafel Wrap and it comes with lettuce, onions, tomatoes, tzatziki sauce and I asked for hot sauce as well. The wrap was pretty tasty, the Falafel was crispy, fresh ingredients, but I swear the employee who made my wrap forgot the sauce outright or put an extremely small amount. It's absolutely necessary to get some sauce with Falafel which can be rather dry. I think I'll emphasize SAUCE PLLEEEEASE on my next visit!! I visited as part of #RIFoodFights #LordoftheWings competition and this was my first time ever here. Set up as your standard Mediterranean style sandwich shop. Was really impressed with the wings there!! They had jumbo wings and the meatiest wing of any of the wings I ate for the competition. I tried their buffalo sauce, which was also one of the spicier buffalo sauces I tasted, so bonus points for that as well!! Sara was working there when I visited, and I wanna give her a special shout out for her friendliness and warm greeting. Well I came in right before they were closing but the staff was still really accommodating. They did not have any more pitas chips but the girl made them fresh for me. I actually ordered a combo plate with rice. And also a side of pita chips with hummus. The portions are large and the staff was nice. I expected the staff to be a bit more diverse - but this was not the case. The chips and hummus were actually delicious. The meat was a bit dry but tasty. This is the type of local business that we all should be supporting. To begin I will tell you that the co-owners are both American and Swedish. The husband being born in Sweden and only recently coming to he United States where he quickly got to work on this awesome flavor. The wife is American born, and her touches can be seen within the shop, and the menu as well. Fresh Pita, is a great name. What better to describe a business than Fresh? To actually be fresh, that is. Every ingredient is hand cut and selected. The prep area is viewable to the public, so there is nothing hidden from plain sight. All food is made to order with the exception of the grape leaves, falafel which is obviously made before hand, and the baklava is a standard boxed item. I was able to try both the chicken and the beef, (skipping the falafel because I generally don't like it.) The chicken was so juicy and flavorful, not too greasy or over heated. The beef was surly flavorful too, thinly sliced, more on the dryerside, seasoned throughout. The wraps in general are generous in size. The toppings are endless, and this so are the possibilities. Wraps range around $8 where the plates and salads are $9 (July 2018). The yogurt sauce (typically found in Gyro's) is the perfect addition or dressing alternative. I believe it to be Garlic based. The red sauce was good as well, it does have a little kick to it. The owners are super friendly and willing to bend over backwards to make the customer happy. If there is something that you are feeling that is not necessarily on the menu as far as combinations go, ask and the owner will make a plate with the ingredients that you want. Dependent upon the ingredients he will also charge you accordingly. It is hard to find a business now-a-days that is truly family owned and caring for their community. Especially ones who are happy to see you come through the door and help you with a smile, rather than looking at you as "just another customer" . Kudos for the friendliness. Was working in area today. For lunch I figured I'd try this place out. I'm a vegetarian so my choices are always limited. Not only was the food delicious but the two lovely ladies inside were extremely friendly and welcoming. I ordered the falafel wrap and an order of fries. The fries were fresh and seasoned and scrumptious. The wrap was also very fresh from the veggies to the falafel itself. I would recommend both menu items and I wish I had ordered a large fry. This was our first time at Fresh Pita, and the staff couldn't be nicer! They were very welcoming and accommodating to my dietary restrictions. Side note***it says that tahini is a sauce option...this is not straight tahini. They mix it with yogurt. I am a bit of a falafel snob, and unfortunately this didn't hit the spot for me. They are called Fresh Pita, however their wraps are made with tortillas instead of pita or Syrian bread. This was a party foul for me. All in all the products were bland to me, and salt could have gone a long way. The falafel itself had an incredible texture, but very little taste. I was a regular customer for a couple of years here, I met the owner and they seem like really good people who care about the quality of their food ...but came here today after a hiatus and things are definitely different...not in a good way... Masks are no longer mandated, I get that, but basic food hygiene was not upheld at all. There were three girls "working"/eating when we walked in..they took our order and somehow missed all the DoorDash orders that came before us because they were sitting eating and chatting... The chatting continued directly over the food they were preparing. Like full blown (very unprofessional) conversations...directly over and into the food. I didn't need to know how plastered you planned on getting this weekend! One of the girls who was preparing ALL the meat, literally coughed over it. Barely trying to cover her mouth. I asked one of the girls to please be careful with talking over peoples food and she ignored me. She said masks are no longer mandated. They continued talking into other orders as well. We were so disgusted, we had to walk away without any food. Very disappointed I have to spread word about their unsanitary and unprofessional behaviors because the food itself is typically good. This is probably my favorite place to go for a filling meal- but you don't have to leave feeling guilty! I ordered the falafel wrap and I got to pick and choose what foods I wanted inside with the help of suggestions from the employees. I saw everything happen right in front of me and it smelled wonderful. The falafel was delicious and usually I think falafel can get a bit dry, but this falafel did not! I decided to try this place because we were craving some fresh food and I'm so glad we did. The owners were so friendly and treated my 3 year old like family. They opened their personal computer for him and put on some age appropriate videos to watch while my sons father had the steak and my son and I shared the chicken. That is genuine hospitality and other business' should take note! If you want customers and would like for them to return then you obviously need to make a good first impression! We didn't even order French fries but the owner dropped some for my young toddler aged son and I'm glad he did because they were incredible! I'm not even a French fry fan but I could honestly say I would return for the fries as well. The seasoning was unique and different but just very good. I could tell all the ingredients and vegetables were fresh!! Nothing is worse then old veggies!! If I recall correctly, the owners said the seasoning for the french fries were imported from their home country and that's what give it that unique taste! Aside from the super friendly staff, and the owner's that treat you like family (husband & wife, I think but could be brother and sister for all I know). The place itself is quaint and they prepare the food right in front of you, which is always comforting! If I could give a rating higher than 5 stars I definitely would for this business! I've gotten a lot of backlash recently for some of my negative reviews but when you RUN A BUSINESS the correct way- you don't have to worry about poor reviews because your staff is properly trained, your restaurant is clean, and the food is beyond good tasting!
