I had such a great experience with this French bakery! If you are looking for an amazing dessert, this is the place. I needed something special for my husband's 50th birthday, but I didn't have much time to plan. Usually, they need three days' notice for a Frasier cake, but they were so accommodating and managed to have it ready the very next day. The cake was honestly perfect--light, creamy, packed with fresh strawberries, and just so delicious. My husband (who's pretty picky about his desserts!) was beyond happy and said it was "the best cake he had ever had." If you want an authentic French bakery that cares about its customers, you need to check this place out. You will not regret it!

Great coffee and almond croissants. Kind of nestled in a quiet office park, so don't give up on finding the door!

It's heartening to witness the success of a small business like Chefs Providence, thriving without the conventional backing of local food critics, elaborate marketing campaigns, or the influence of social media. This authentic French bakery has become a cherished establishment among its supporters, flourishing organically through the enthusiastic word-of-mouth of its patrons. My heart overflows with joy and gratitude when I witness my friends, including those visiting for the first time, thoroughly enjoying the wide array of sweet and savory treats at Chefs Providence. These joyful gatherings, where the establishment's quality offerings and exceptional service meet the customers' appreciation and enjoyment, elevate the spirits and satisfaction of both the business and its consumers. A heartfelt thank you to my dear friends, and to Chef Maxime and Mama Sylvie, for making my day truly special. Each of my writings about Chefs Providence feels like a love letter, portraying the bakery as the epitome of authentic, top-quality French cuisine in Houston. Vanessa and I are always greeted with new surprises and delights with every visit. Among the many items we adore, this time, the Galette des Rois, a traditional French king cake ordered by Vanessa, stood out as the best we've ever experienced. This exquisite dessert is distinct from its more colorful New Orleans counterpart, focusing on simplicity and elegance. It consists of a delicate puff pastry crust filled with a rich frangipane, a creamy almond cream filling that is both sweet and slightly nutty in flavor. The frangipane here, made from scratch, has the perfect sweetness and complex notes that we have not found elsewhere. The Galette des Rois is adorned with a beautifully patterned top, scored with an intricate pattern, and brushed with a sweet glaze to give it a golden finish, making it a feast for both the eyes and the palate. We will special order this celebrated pastry again to mark the Epiphany at the beginning of January. Another delightful moment worth sharing is when Chef Maxime presented Vanessa with a custom-made Religieuse au Café, allowing her to enjoy her all-time favorite dessert fresh. Vanessa's generosity in sharing this treat with our friends, who declared it possibly the best pastry of their visit, filled me with immense happiness. Initially, I feared our metropolis might overlook such local treasures, but the diverse and continuous flow of clients into this charming bakery, all leaving with joyful smiles, reassures me. We aim to visit as often as we can, eagerly anticipating our next gathering. (I was enjoying the day so much that I didn't even take any pictures. I will have to wait for others to post them.)

Truly a family owned hidden gem. The service and pastries are absolutely incredible!! The owners were so welcoming and took the time to explain what they baked in the shop as well as the items that were imported in from France. I tried 3 different croissants: plain, chocolate, and almond. I also tried the bacon, potato, and onion quiche. I shared with my colleagues and we were all blown away by the freshness and taste of the ingredients. You will NOT find anything like this around here. I will definitely be back very soon.

I was recovering from a cold so I decided to order a hot herbal tea and was happy to see that they had such a huge selection of loose leaf teas to choose from. My friend also got one of their lattes and we couldn't resist getting a tiramisu before leaving. Overall, we liked everything and I think this place is worth a visit for that Kafeina latte. - Kafeina Latte (4/5): The lady told us that this latte was half white chocolate and half pistachio and we could definitely tastes both flavors. I really liked how they put a lot of pistachio pieces in the drink, giving it a crunchy texture. This drink is definitely on the sweeter side though, so keep that in mind. - Nutty Almond Cream Cinnamon Herbal Tea (4/5): I was very happy with the flavor of this tea. Like the name suggest, it tasted very almond-y and had a good amount of cinnamon flavored. There was also a tangy fruity flavor that followed and reminded me of spiced cider. - Tiramisu (4.5/5): I was really impressed with their tiramisu. The mascarpone layer was very nice and custardy, yet felt so light and refreshing. I also loved how strong the coffee flavor was which helped balance out the dessert and made it not too sweet. Service/Ambiance: Upon entering, I was really surprised by how pretty the interior was with the mixture of gold and wood. I'm not sure how pack this place usually gets because I came at an off time ( like 1 pm), but they had a good amount of tables and seating available. I did see a handful of people studying, so I think this would be a good quiet study spot.

This seemingly small cafe is actually quite spacious; the ambiance was quiet, and the service was friendly. They had a seasonal menu for the fall, so I chose to order the iced Tiramisu latte with oat milk, and the cup was coated in tiramisu (?) syrup. The coffee taste was a bit masked, but overall it was creamy, not too sweet, and had a mocha flavor! The Core Cafe had several unique flavors that I'd love to try, so I look forward to returning. :D

Their new location is pretty far from me, so i thought I'd check out this place since it is where my favorite used to be. However! This was my first and last visit. As soon as i walked in, i smelled an overwhelming scent of smoke. I'm not sure if that came from the patrons or the space itself, but that alone was almost enough for me to walk right out of the door. But i stayed because i really wanted to give this place a chance. Like another reviewer, Elizabeth V., mentioned, there were 3 women around the counter who were not welcoming. Considering that you have to walk a distance to even get to the counter, being welcomed when you get there would have been nice! Anyway, the woman who took my order wasn't kind or helpful and when i asked for my drink iced (because the menu didn't specify if the drink was offered hot or iced) she said - kind of condescendingly - "it's already iced..." How would I know that if it's not listed on the menu? And why am I receiving snark for specifying how I'd like my order? Even though I was ordering in person, it felt like I was ordering at a drive thru - being rushed and questions discouraged by an apathetic employee who'd literally like to be anywhere else in the world at that moment. I knew I wouldn't stay at that point so I grabbed my matcha (which was just okay) and left. It's super disappointing to see that this is what occupies the space where my favorite coffee spot used to be. Maybe good service is worth the 45-min drive to their new location! Coming here certainly wasn't worth the headache of traffic, construction, a busy parking lot full of people cutting through to avoid the traffic on the street, and attitudes from the employees. If you like good coffees and teas but also like a kind and welcoming ambiance, please go elsewhere. I wish I wouldn't have believed the 5 star reviews I saw here.
