I couldn't help myself but immediately attack the garlic appetizer. So I apologize for the demolished garlic appetizer. I spoke with the chef and he said that the hummus is handmade, daily. Same thing with the flat bread that is served. The garlic appetizer is lovely as it is a refreshing starter with some bite to it. Garlic is very present so beware those who are not a fan of garlic. I do recommend with the olive oil as it adds a nice silky smooth texture. The fries served with the Gyro Wrap meal. We're crunchy and seasoned with paprika. A unique choice that I enjoy. As for the Star, the Gyro Wrap. It is served in a beautiful presentation. The meat is soft and very intense in flavor. The vegetables in the wrap are tender and add depth. The sauce which I assume is Tzatziki Sauce resembles the thickness of mayo which is different from other Tzatziki Sauce. I do love the freshness it adds to the wrap! The restaurant has only been open for 6 months which is impressive for the quality of food. Overall, I recommend having a try at this place!

Absolutely blown away by our experience at Shawarma Boys!…read more I ordered the Gyro Plate a perfect mix of lamb and beef with rice and salad, tzatziki sauce and my son went with the beef shawarma plate, Arabi-style--both were packed with flavor, perfectly seasoned, and incredibly fresh. Every bite tasted like it was made with care and authenticity. The Arabic style beef was crispy on the edges which made it even better. We couldn't leave without dessert, and the baklava with honey and pistachio drizzle was out of this world--crispy, sweet, and just the right balance of richness. To top it all off, we enjoyed Turkish coffee that was bold, smooth, and the perfect ending to an amazing meal. Forgot to mention the freshly made Falafel, not pre made and frozen. The chef here makes everything from scratch with family recipes. From the food to the overall experience, everything was top-notch. Definitely a place we'll keep coming back to. There is a little bit of a wait for the food since everything is fresh from scratch. Bathroom is clean. This was excellent…read more I added this to my list after seeing its outstanding reviews on Google and Yelp in case we had spare time on our business trip, being in San Antonio from Tampa - we had that extra time and ended up here and it's great that we did. I called ahead of time asking if they had availability for 6 guests at around 6 PM and they said that it shouldn't be a problem, but they can't guarantee that we'd be seated right away... sold! We arrived and while the set up the table, Charlene welcomed us to hang out at the bar. We were then greeted by Ben, who we came to find out was one of the owners of the restaurant. He spoke with us briefly as our table was being set up, welcoming us in. Within 3 minutes of coming in, they set up a table for us in the corner of the restaurant and had us seated. The place is small (not tiny) and even on a Wednesday at 6 PM, it was clearly a popular spot... we would continue to find out why that was the case. Forgive me, as I cannot remember our waitresses' name, but she was great. She handed us our menus and let us be as we needed a moment to make our decisions. The front of the menu tells the humble story of how the restaurant came to be - definitely worth a read while you are waiting. Our waitress came back and took our drink and food orders. At the same time, I asked if she could have Ben come over as we wanted to hear more about his story after reading the brief story on the front of the menu. He came over and talked to us for ~5 minutes telling us about how he ended up in the States after leaving his home and how the restaurant came to be - from that alone, my experience had already been elevated and I was even more excited for the remainder of the experience to come. The drinks arrived, followed by the food, which we ordered (mostly) solely on Ben's recommendations. Everything looked delicious and as we were told by Ben, it was all fresh, purchased that day from the market and cooked to order. We started with the fried mozzarella, which was unique to me, in that it had no marinara but instead, spicy honey and sesame seeds and was fried in beef tallow - it was great. I ordered the Chicken Parm, which had fresh mozzarella poured into it at the table - the mozzarella smelled (and tasted) AMAZING. The dish has select bites throughout it that had some spice to it - I'd say that the spice level was about a 3/10, coming from someone who doesn't have the highest spice tolerance. The flavor/satisfaction level? 10/10. Typically, I'm not a dessert guy, but because of how good the experience was up to this point, I had to indulge. I ordered the crème brûlée and was not disappointed. Good temperature, good, mild flavor and presentation. This experience was excellent. From the unsuspecting setting, the greeting, the noise level in the restaurant, the attentiveness of the servers, the presentation and flavor of the food, to the staff asking how everything was and holding the door for us as we left, this is an exemplary example of how hospitality/service should be done. Ben, hopefully you are extremely proud of the team you have put together and the establishment you have made over the past two years. Very well done and thank you for your hospitality. If we are ever in town again, this will DEFINITELY be a stop that we make. Cheers.

Ladino is probably one of my favorite restaurants in the city by far!…read more I've had the privilege to visit Ladino maybe four or five times, and every time I come back, they keep getting better. They recently received a Bib Gourmand from Michelin for good quality and value. Frankly I think they deserve a star, but that's just me. Ladino is located at The Pearl and making a reservation through Open Table is a must! They book up days in advance, so I encourage you to reserve a table ahead of time. They specialize in small tapas style plates, so if you are coming with a group you can order a couple of items to share. They also have a few excellent main dishes, but my favorite is the steak. From the smaller plates I think I've tried almost everything and there hasn't been one I didn't love. However the hummus is a must and the feta cheese is always a winner when I bring new people to Ladino. The staff here is outstanding! The level of service they offer is unbelievable. They truly make sure you have an outstanding experience during your visit, and that level of service is hard to find. Whether you are looking to try a new place or celebrate an anniversary, do yourself a favor and make a reservation at Ladino.

The staff here could not have been friendlier. I had never heard of shrak before, so I asked about it. The waitress actually went into the kitchen, and a sweet lady came out moments later with some for me to try! That kind of genuine hospitality is rare these days. For anyone unfamiliar, shrak is similar to a tortilla--thin, soft, and perfect for scooping up all the deliciousness. The food itself was outstanding. The yellow rice was incredibly flavorful--long, fluffy grains cooked just right. Rice may sound simple, but making it this good takes skill, and they absolutely nailed it.
