This place did not disappoint! We ordered ahead by phone and got the BBQ beef mac n cheese sandwich and the caprese sandwich (light on the vinaigrette, as suggested from other reviewers), plus tater tots. Everything was great. Not the healthiest meal, nor the cheapest, but still very delicious and a fun dinner treat every so often. read more

Delicious little sandwich shop hidden in this mini mall like strip in Redlands. A friend suggested this place so I gave it a shot. I had the lemonade, tater tots, and the buffalo chicken sandwich (which had potato chips inside it) impressed me more than expected. Only negative is the parking but I managed to find parking without too much struggle but during peak business hours it could be challenging I bet so be mindful of that maybe. Hoping to come try another sandwich or two read more

Cheesewalla - Buffalo chicken sandwich, tater tots, and a lemonade. Highly recommended - Sandwiches Near Me - Redlands, California

This was a happy accidental discovery for two hangry people! Tots were excellent, tomato bisque was lovely, the Margarita and spinach artichoke sandwiches were delicious. We had the choice of sitting in the bar or patio--chose the latter. So glad we found this place--thank you! read more

I've been here twice and I was unfortunate enough to get the same person taking my order both times. I don't feel comfortable giving her name but she was thin and blonde. Let's call her M. The thing I noticed when ordering the first time was that M was unreasonably quiet. I am a musician of 14 years and my hearing frankly sucks, so it was incredibly frustrating trying to relay my order to her, especially since the music was playing. When she was confirming my order, I had to ask "what?" about 7 times and eventually just said yes out of exhaustion and frustration. The second time I visited here, same story. She was way too quiet except this time she start getting visibly upset with me that I couldn't understand her. I asked her to please speak up, and she was not happy about that. I want to love this place, the frustration of ordering is a bit much for me. read more

So far, everytime I have visited this establishment, I have not been disappointed. I would consider this place a must visit if you are in redlands. Also perfect for picky eaters. My favorite is the loaded potato and jalapeno popper. Their tomato soup and zucchini fries are amazing. You can also order your sandwich as a loaded tots if you're not in the mood for bread. They have a very customizable menu and a very friendly staff if you are not sure what to order. read more

After finding parking several blocks over So I order 45 dollars worth of food my husband drives all the way from Grand Terrace to go there with a 100 dollar bill and they refused to take it lmao what a joke you not only lost my business but my entire family's business and we didn't get the food so it was wasted so I hope it was worth the 2-20's and the 10 I would have got back in change that's horrible customer service it's not like i was ordering 10 bucks worth of food read more

Yeah it's pretty amazing...simple and at the same time complex flavors. Seriously a must try. I had three and can't say which was best. The pepperoni was outstanding e white the cheese on the outside, straight fire! Baked potato was great but better with the tomato soup. Together they are incredible. The bbq was great wide range of flavor and delicious. read more

Cheesewalla is a hit in the Redlands community. The garlic and parmesan tater tots were over fried, really greasy, and had zero garlic taste. They must use really terrible ingredients for there to have no garlic taste. Everything about them were basic and they tasted frozen. It didn't even come with sauce - that's extra. I've had a much better donut grilled cheese elsewhere. The glazed donut was basic. Although, the cheddar cheese they use did taste pretty good. Overall, I make a much better grilled cheese. I was dissatisfied and disappointed. My friend on the other hand enjoyed his spinach and artichoke grilled cheese. I probably wouldn't return. read more

Cheesewalla is more that grilled cheese. They have some very unique and delicious flavor combinations. My personal favorites are the buffalo chicken grilled cheese and the bbq Mac grilled cheese. Absolute fire. And if you're not feeling grilled cheese sandwich, you can ask them to convert almost any sandwich into tater tot form. No this is not a joke. Any sandwich you can ask them to use the inside filling and melt it over a bed of perfectly crisp tater tots. GENIUS. If you're feelin something sweet and savory though, you have to try the grilled cheese donut. Yup it's exactly as it sounds. A glazed donut split in half with melted cheese inbetween. Absolutely amazing. read more

The service is top notch. The ambiance is relaxed. It's a nice place for some chitchat with your bff which on my first time at this spot is exactly what was in the works. The Jalapeno Popper Sandwich was soooo good. The lemonade was also pretty tasty. Lastly, my only Complaint is the Tomato Bisque soup. It had a layer on grease on it that did not look appetizing. We ended up asking for new ones and it was the same thing. I ended up eating only half because I just was not feeling it anymore. Btw, the entrance is through the Umbrella Alley. read more

The literal best place to eat in Redlands if you are a cheese and bread lover. I am absolutely obsessed with the spinach and artichoke grilled cheese and the pepperoni one is so good as well. I follow a simple credo: Establishments and their staff who provide a great gastronomic experience receive our personal thanks, a commensurate tip (usually cash) and kudos to management/propreitor. Staff & establishments that provide a mediocre and/or substandard experience are relegated to the dustbin of history without any further acknowledgement. Staff and/or establishments that fail miserably are put on blast on Yelp! for future patrons to be aware. Unfortunately, the latter was the case for Cheesewalla and two of its employees: Skyler & Mario. We're so disappointed since we've been customers since its opening. Furthermore, being a longtime customer, my initial request was to take a message and pass it on to the owner since they told me the manager would not be available for up to one-week and the owner doesn't actually come in with any regularity. Skyler kept pretending that I was asking him to give me the owner's contact info, when in fact I wanted to leave my contact info. Clearly, he knew that I was going to press on with contacting the owner to inform him of this "car"wreck experience and their rudeness, so by the 3rd request, Skyler feigned indignation and said, "you need to change your tone! Don't talk to me with that tone!" He passes the phone off to another co-worker, Mario, who comes on the line and opens with "yeah, I came over because I heard my coworker say you were being rude." I calmly explain to him what I had clearly expalined to Skyler three times before. He, too, repeated the same line, "I can't give you the owner's contact info!" It became more than evident at this point how & why this feeble crew got our simple to-go order wrong in the first place; AND then given the opportunity to rectify it, they chose to be rude, childish and condescending or in the words of my son & his girlfriend who dealt with them in person, they acted like douchebags. In the 6pm hour this evening, they went to Cheesewalla to get take-out dinner for the three of us. When they arrived home, the sandwiches did not have the sauces on the side. Nothing! Nada! No sauces of course affects the taste, texture & overall experience of the meal. I make the initial call to the restaurant and after 3 calls, someone finally picks up the call. I inform Skyler of this oversight. He immediatedly placed the blame on someone else by saying the new trainee did it. I didn't question it, on the contrary, I empathized with a new employee and sid it happens. He offered to give us a $10 credit that the owner would have to approve. Given that we're loyal customers, I agreed and pressed on with my evening. But I didn't touch my sandwich and neither did the kids. At about 7pm, my son feeling guilty for Cheesewalla's employees' mistake, called and asked if they would remake them BUT include the sauce this time around. They agreed. We live at least 20 minutes away (one way), I asked my son if they were going to comp him in anyway for his time and energy and he said no that they wanted the sandwiches back, etc. I couldn't believe my ears. I called Cheesewalla at about 7:20pm, Skyler answered the phone thus starting back at the beginning of this review where two of Cheesewalla's employees obviously require careful management oversight for both their careless & reckless behavior while in charge of someone else's business. Addendum at approximately 10pm. If there is any question as to the veracity of my account and the juvenile & irresponsible behavior of these two named, I received Yelp! notifications that coincidentally enough bear their names: Mario & Skyler. Helping to confirm our experience and demonstrating their lack of contrition and maturity. read more

There were pluses and minuses on my first trek here. Amidst very spartan surroundings of three metal tables and a few metal chairs (two with broken arms), I enjoyed a small bowl of mostly smooth Tomato Bisque Soup that was very good but not very hot. A Traditional Toasted Cheese Sandwich with avocado and bacon added was also very tasty, with well-melted Cheddar, Provolone, and Swiss Cheese, and oodles of fresh avocado. But not much bacon was included. And,well-cooked Cheesey Tots were excellent, numerous, and a great accompaniment to the sandwich. But not much melted cheese was draped over the potato protuberances. Counter service was friendly and efficient. Our order was ready in about 10 minutes. XXX-1/2 stars overall! read more

It tasted okay, ate here last year and it was way better. Last time I time I ordered a pulled pork and macaroni one, it was so good and thick. This time it felt like something I would have bought at a gast food chain. Didn't taste bad but I'm still hungry and not satisfied . It was so thin compared to the last time I ate here. Side note: the workers there looked kind of grumpy, maybe they didn't want to work right after they just opened , or was it because I didn't tip when I paid? read more

This place is my inner fat kid's fever dream! Fried carbs slathered in butter. Sandwiches, appetizers, and sides were all great. Service was exceptional. I did appreciate that the ingredients tasted fresh and well thought out. Like the ranch was made in house and these cheese blend was top notch. Food came out quickly. We go there early enough that they let us still in the bar since it was super hot. Even the bartender was nice even though we didn't drink. I wouldn't recommend delivery since half the magic is eating fried food hot. read more

Having not have a vegan grilled cheese in some time, I was pleasantly surprised to find a grilled cheese restaurant in Redlands with several vegan sandwich options. Upon entering, me and hubby were warmly greeted and our order was taken. I ordered a vegan Margherita sandwich which comes with marinara sauce, a vegan traditional grilled cheese, and California tater tots which are tater tots topped with vegan cheese, thousand island dressing and grilled onions. On a second visit, I enjoyed the samosa grilled cheese with three sauces (my favorite was the sweet sauce) and the caprese grilled cheese. The food was delicious, well made and filling and we will definitely visit again soon. read more

Solid beer selection, prices a bit higher than I would expect, but the environment was awesome.

I went here the other day with my sister and brother-in-law after a workout and it was the best post-workout meal! This is such a hidden gem tucked away and mixed in with other businesses. It is small, but there is some seating in an inside area outside of the restaurant. I had the Margherita Pizza grilled cheese (with provolone, mozzarella, diced tomatoes, and basil on sourdough with marinara sauce) and also tried the PBC&J (with peanut butter cream cheese and strawberry preserve on sourdough). These grilled cheeses were to die for! The Margherita pizza grilled cheese was simple, yet delicious and totally hit the spot. It was done perfectly--not too oily and so yummy! The PBC&J literally tasted like heaven. If PB&J's weren't delicious enough already, then you must try this! It was like a warm, even more delicious version of that PB&J from my childhood. It will melt in your mouth! The people who worked there were very friendly and the prices were fair. I absolutely cannot wait to go back and try all of the other grilled cheeses! read more

PRE-COVID REVIEW: Really enjoyed the lunch I had here the last time I went! The service, food, and vibe of Cheesewalla was great. I love the wall art they have right outside the entrance and you can't beat the beautiful umbrella art installation in the alleyway to get to the restaurant. I think no matter what you order you won't be disappointed. The cashier at the time was very helpful and answered all of our questions and was quick to make good menu item recommendations. My boyfriend and I ended up splitting the BBQ Mac & Cheese grilled cheese sandwich and it was enough for me to feel satisfied. Not the healthiest food option, but I have no regrets! Hope to come back again soon! Definitely check Cheesewall out if you are in the Downtown Redlands area! read more

Tried Cheesewalla for the first time today. When I arrived there was no line which was nice but all benches were taken. Everyone was following covid guidelines though and made sure to sit spaced out. After thinking the whole menu sounded good I decided to order the BBQ Mac and tater tots. I was then able to find an open bench and sat down to eat. What I will say is that they should have a better way of calling out orders. There is a person who yells order numbers out of a window and you can't hear them too well. The seating is in an alley so literally everyone misses their order number being called. There was a pregnant lady waiting all the way at the end with a restless toddler so I feel like they should just be more mindful of tracking down orders while they're still hot. Another thing is they didn't put any type of utensils, napkins, or ketchup in my bag. I know they're not obligated by law but that would have been helpful because I did have my kids with me and trying to go back in and out was a lot. As far as food went! The BBQ Mac is definitely a must try to me. The flavor was amazing and they make it perfectly. The tots had gotten a little cold seeing as I didn't hear my number but they were still good. I'd definitely recommend stopping by. The food was delicious! The setting is definitely very nice seeing as we can't do much these days. The cashier was extremely nice which I did appreciate. I'll definitely be returning soon. read more

OMG the grilled cheeses from here are soooo amazing! I'm stuck right now on the BBQ Mac, which is a heavenly blend of Mac n cheese and bbq sauce done in the style of a grilled cheese sandwich. I've never been disappointed with any of the food items I've tried here. The only downside is it's a tiny location on a really crowded alleyway, which can feel claustrophobic when it's busy or especially during the pandemic. Really good grilled cheese type sandwiches. I got the margherita pizza sandwich and it was delicious! The sandwich is cheesy, yet light and refreshing. It's the perfect portion too, I wasn't overly stuffed when I was done. Husband got the jalapeño popper sandwich (not pictured) with white bread, they had run out of the original bread by 8.30 pm on a Wednesday night. This is a great hole-in-the-wall spot in the umbrella alley (not sure if it's actually called that). We love this place. We haven't found a sandwich we didn't like. I have to say the PBCJ is the best. It's so weird sounding but it's so good. A trick we found was to order it NOT butter grilled. It was like an American-Indian fusion sandwich and is a must-try if you like burgers but want to try something different. The garlic tater tots were great too. The wait was long perhaps because it was the weekend but I'm very satisfied with the food quality so I don't mind the wait. It is located in the umbrella alleyway in downtown Redlands next to Copehouse and is a great spot for a quick bite or if you're wanting to relax they have an additional sit down bar with TVs to relax. Any item at this spot is amazing but the real star in my opinion is their tomato bisque soup.
