It feels like I haven't been here in more than a decade, I am sure it probably is the case, and after coming here, really having no expectations and just wanting a good slice of cheesecake, I walked into an odd, fun, experience with my wife. It's a place that has been here, for what seems forever, where you talk about it, and it brings back memories of simplier times, where you kind of remember when you were here last time, and yet you don't, but you know that it has been awhile, and that was the situation with coming here with my wife, the place feels..... the same, as in, the colors, the chairs, the floor, everything, and yet.... that is part of the charm, the dark wood and colors, the 'old' aesthetic, and yet the only change is 'you'... the one coming here with way more years of experience (on what ... that is on 'you' as well) and all felt like a time capsule. We ordered a slice of their classic slice of cheesecake, with their strawberries, sauce, fresh whipped cream, and added walnuts on top, as per the person working the till. We took our number and sat on the newer side (I do not know when they added the right side, but I know it wasn't there for me the last time I was here) and sitting what felt like a minute, our plate of sweet goodness arrived. Something about this simple piece just hit the spot, how it was made, the simple yet beautiful presentation of it all, the right amount of chill in temperature, where it wasn't too cold, it just hit the spot, and the sweetness... was perfect, nothing overly sweet but just right... and that is why this place is still around, for all the stuff you say, said, did, in whatever timeframe of your life that you were here, after one bite you are brought back to that time and your re-live it. It was a great way to end the night, and I hope to come back here sooner than the over a decade it took me to enter this place again. If you want a staple of Vancouver, this is the place.... might I say the best cheesecake in Vancouver... I would have to give my personal award to this place... thank you, and until next time.
I always love the Cheesecake etc. it has a history dated back to my teenage years. The restaurant has always been cozy and the atmosphere was warm and spacious. Their cheesecake is one of the best in Vancouver and it has never been disappointed. The selections were fair and brings a balance to their menu. They even have live bands on the weekends. Love this place.
If you're looking for a cozy, late-night dessert spot in Vancouver, Cheesecake Etc. is the perfect hidden gem. Tucked just south of the Granville Bridge, this charming café is full of character, with a warm, inviting vibe and offers live jazz on most days. Unfortunately we did have live music on our visit but we will be back for that experience. The cheesecake here is truly something special--light, creamy, and perfectly balanced in sweetness. We tried the classic with strawberries and whipped cream, and the cheesecake of the day--tiramisu. They were both so good. I wish the tiramisu was offered on a regular basis as I feel it would be popular. They also offer other flavors like chocolate and matcha, which I can't wait to go back and try. The atmosphere is intimate and nostalgic, making it a great place for date nights or quiet catch-ups with friends. It's open late (7 PM to 1 AM), which is a huge plus when those late-night dessert cravings hit. Highly recommend checking this place out if you haven't yet--it's a true Vancouver treasure!
Cheesecake Etc. is a cosy and romantic spot perfect for a date night! We loved the live piano music and the wide selection of cheesecakes. The tiramisu cheesecake, a daily special, was absolutely delicious. Highly recommend for a charming and tasty evening out!
Very good cheesecake! I originally wanted to visit because I heard there is live music/jazz. Unfortunately, the Sunday night we went, the musicians were on holiday. There were still busy regardless. I do love that the menus is just cheesecake. Just about every type and you can customize your toppings! There's also a special cheesecake of the day, ours was tiramisu which was so fluffy and glorious. It did not feel too heavy. The strawberry topping on the original was just as good!! Will come back on a night with live music.
This place continues to bring back university memories every time I step through the door. Over the past years, they have expanded and why not. The place is casual, but there is ambiance. Tables are spread apart and lighting is dimmed. There's a grand piano at the center of the room. This place is great to catch up with a friend or friends. They only serve three types of cheesecake so they have to be exceptional......and they are. The foundation of the cheesecake is dense, but not overly. It has a great feel and texture to it and you can customize it with various toppings. They also offer a variety of drinks to go with the cheesecake.
One of my favourite cheesecake places in Vancouver! It just tastes really good! It's also a really cool spot to dine inside if you're looking for a night out in town. I like the original the best, but adding the strawberry is a nice compliment too.
It's been ages since I've been here. We were nearby, so decided to give it another try. The place was packed with people, and there was a long line, but luckily we arrived before it got too busy. We ordered both the matcha cheesecake and the original. The texture of the original was smooth, but the matcha one was just okay. I also ordered a latte, which paired well with the sweetness of the cheesecakes. We thought they would be playing some live jazz but it was a recording.
If you're looking for an excellent date night dessert spot, Cheesecake Etc. is the place to go. The highlight of this charming establishment is their fresh-made cheesecake, where you can personalize your dessert by choosing both the cheesecake and the fruit topping. On our visit, we indulged in the strawberry cheesecake, which was perfectly tart and sweet--a delightful treat for the taste buds. The matcha cheesecake was also a bit of a miss for me as it didn't really taste like matcha, was denser than the original cheesecake, and felt like it needed some kind of sweetness (fresh fruit) with it. In addition to their delectable cheesecakes, Cheesecake Etc. serves a variety of hot drinks, including teas and coffees, making it a cozy spot to unwind. Whether you're ending a dinner date or just craving a sweet treat, Cheesecake Etc. promises a delightful experience.
Craved a late night snack and came here. Never disappoints. You get what you want, no frills.
We came right about 1 hour after it opened. Parking is insane and if you miss the turn light, prepare to drive 7 blocks just to make a uturn. The cheesecake isn't all that, it's mushy and has a sour taste to it. If you prefer your cheesecake soft and subtle, this is it.
Cheesecake Etc. stands as a longstanding dessert cafe with a wealth of memories for me. Following dinners, drinks, or nights out with friends, this has been our go-to spot to conclude the weekend. I hadn't visited this place since the pandemic began, so one weekend, I decided to return. The craving for cheesecake after dinner was too tempting to resist. What we ordered : Matcha cheesecake and Tiramisu cheesecake, and both were enjoyable. However, it seems that either the chef or the recipe has undergone a change. The cheesecake texture I once knew resembled whipped cream--so light yet still creamy. This was the reason I used to frequent this place after dinner or drinks with a group of friends. As time has passed, things have changed. Nevertheless, I appreciate that the shop continues to run its business admirably, allowing me to revisit and reminisce. However, please do not misunderstand. The cheesecake was still delicious with a smooth texture that I enjoyed. It's just that the cheesecake I was accustomed to seems to have evolved or changed over time. I am particularly fond of the ambiance at this place. The dark, antique-style furniture and interior have consistently retained their charm. I've heard that live piano music is offered here. I plan to visit when live piano music is available next time.
Reviews are mixed. Many highlight the creamy, balanced cheesecake and customizable toppings, as well as the cozy vintage ambiance and live music atmosphere.

Interesting place! They have a minimalist menu consisting of 3 base types of cheesecake (original, chocolate, or matcha) with the option to add various sauces and toppings. They also had a special cheesecake (piña colada when we went), which I assume is a regular thing. There's also a pretty encompassing selection of drinks, including lattes, teas, and cider. I had a matcha cheesecake with blueberry topping, which was delicious! Their cheesecake is light but creamy, and the matcha flavour was integrated well. They were generous with the topping, but it didn't totally overpower the matcha. The one thing that's off putting to me about them is the prices. A slice of cheesecake is pretty small (actually the perfect size for me if price weren't a factor), but with the price you might expect something a bit bigger, and adding toppings really hikes up the price. What I got cost about $8! Yes it's good cheesecake, but quality can't justify that much money for one little slice. They had an open piano when we went (Friday night), so we got to hear some live music which was nice. The lighting is really dim. It's very atmospheric, good place for a date or to go with a few friends. read more

Came back to visit this long standing cheesecake specialty cafe in Vancouver. It was a walk down memory lane and I can tell this place is still loved by patrons. We were here Wednesday around 830 pm and it was quiet but as the night progressed this place filled up fast. Cafe specializes in delicious home made cheesecakes unlike anywhere else. Soft and moist with delicious toppings. They have the daily special cheesecake offering. Happy to see Matcha cheesecake as an addition and a sign of the times. Other long-standing flavours still available. Service got a bit slow as people filled up the cafe. Family friendly and great for gatherings and dates. Overall a must try if you like cheesecake. read more

Cute spot! A very small menu with a few different cheesecakes and toppings (pay extra to add fruit, sauce, or nuts), and one non-cheesecake option (raisin and walnut cake when we were there). Cheesecake was pretty good although a little pricey considering the size. Restaurant takes only cash or debit. Service was very quick when we were there, late evening on a weekday, although wasn't particularly friendly. The cafe had kind of a weird vibe - very dark inside even though it was sunny and bright outside. I found it a little odd but maybe they're trying to create some atmosphere! I've heard there is live music there but not sure when (weekends only?) read more
Cheap delicious cheesecake, in a nice cozy setting. Absolutely beautiful. Parking is available on the side streets at night. Good luck during the day. The place has been around for years, so the interior is a bit worn down, in a good way. The inside is really dim, and nice and quiet. The cheesecakes here are very reasonably priced - $5-7 for a nice piece with toppings such as strawberries or blueberries. This is definitely one of the better desserts I've had in a while - this places beats out Death By Chocolate and True Confections (those places are both way too sweet). Special mention. As Kenneth mentioned, the fruit syrup does taste like IHOP, but I'm not complaining. Recommended if you want a dessert without the diabetes. read more

Was recommended this place. Their cheesecakes are not as heavy as NY style cheesecake. They are soft and creamy but I couldn't really taste cream cheese. We tried all three flavours: original ($5.24), chocolate ($5.95), and matcha ($6.9). All weren't very sweet. Chocolate tasted a bit like chocolate mousse/cake. read more
The best cheesecake dessert in Vancouver 20-30 years ago...... I haven't return to this place for so many years. All of us were missing those days, we went back to try that again. The menu was the same!! Only 2 flavours of cheesecake!! The cheesecakes were moist but not as good as before. May be Vancouver has too many good desserts places now. The jazz live music still start after 9pm read more
One thing I like about this place is that they open late. Their cheesecake are delicious but sometimes I find it to be a hit and miss. There were times I found it quite dry and at most time nice and moist. The tea selection is ok. they do have like 10 different latte and 3 different fogs (which is basically different tea bags). The tea bags that they use are the ones you can get off the shelf from any super market. So its not like you are gettting special teas. There are couple times, I came here and the owner was playing the piano but I guess it also depends on his mood. The place can be quite busy but they have expanded it in the last 15 years. It started out to be a small 1 unit place and now they took over the left and right side units of the restaurant. Seats are very spacious. As well because they are open late there are plenty of street parkings. after 10 no need to pay for meter parking. read more

This hurts to give this review as I have been going to Cheesecakes since the 90's. First I will start with the fact that they have the best cheesecake and fruit toppings I've ever had. However, I realize the pandemic has changed things for dine in restaurants but this place has done nothing to still create that lovely ambience it used to have. The lights weren't working and kept flickering. The tables were placed in a way that you could see not much thought was involved to work around the restrictions. They could easily create a wonderful ambience still. Instead it felt cold and uninviting. No table service. you order up front and they bring you a tray with your order behind you to serve yourself. Do yourself a favour and get takeout. read more
The two of us wanted some dessert after dinner so we decided to come to Cheesecake Etc. The place wasn't very busy when we arrived so we got to sit wherever we liked. I remember how delicious the cheesecake was the last time I visited. Thus, I had quite an expectation from Cheesecake Etc. The server came by with the menu and told us that the feature cheesecake was sesame cheesecake. It seemed like an interesting creation so I decided to give it a try. The cheesecake definitely had a strong sesame flavour. I didn't expect it to have such a heavy taste but I enjoyed it. The cheesecake had a nice speckled appearance to it, which probably meant they put the real stuff in there. However. one thing that I didn't like was how soft it was. It also felt like I was eating mush because it didn't take me any effort to cut it with my fork. I thought it would be harder and therefore offered a better texture overall. Also, the whip cream was a complete turn-off. It tasted so bland and watered down. It didn't taste great at all and truly ruined the sesame cheesecake when eaten with it. Service was non-existent after we ordered. My cup was empty and never refilled. I couldn't locate a server anywhere, I wasn't sure where they all went. I ended up paying about $8 for a small piece of sesame cheesecake. With the quality and service, I'm not sure if I would return. read more

Contrary to numerous outstanding reviews from other yelpers, I did not enjoy my first time experience at Cheesecake Etc. The atmosphere was quite dim but it is a place that can accommodate a lot of people. First and foremost, the service was absolutely terrible. I went there last Thursday around 9.30pm. The minute we walked in, one of the waitresses told us that we could sit anywhere and then she came with menus. This was the last time we saw her. We had to continuously wave at another waitress to get her attention so we could order. I ordered the chocolate cheesecake with strawberries. Even though I do agree that this cheesecake is very unique due it being lighter than a regular cheesecake, it tasted like a chocolate mouse. I was not able to taste any cheese and the whip cream did not feel fresh. Moreover, we were not asked if we needed a water refill at any time. If you do like your cheesecake tasting like a light mouse and do not mind the service then you will not be disappointed. read more
The place wants to set a slow and relaxing mood with low lighting and jazz music. This is to enhance their type of cheesecake, which is a bit less dense and tastes lighter than a new york type cheesecake. Cheesecakes range from $5 to $7 before you add any toppings or a drink. Go for: cheesecake Don't go for: the best decor or variety read more

Cheesecake is my favourite type of dessert. And I have been coming to this location for a few years. The setting is a bit dark, but relaxing. Nice place for a tea and late night treat. Who knew cheesecake can be great without a crust? read more

This place was recommended to me by a friend and I was unfortunately disappointed I got takeout and ordered when I arrived at the restaurant, the service was quick. The cheesecake was decent, but it came right from the freezer and was still frozen in the center of the slice. Might need to try again and sit in at the restaurant, hopeful for a better taste! read more

Price: $7-9 dollars/ slice of cheesecake Parking: Street meter parking Service: Excellent service Cake: Delicious! Best cheesecake in the city Ambience: Romantic Would I return: Definitely, this is one of my go to dessert places. As the store name suggests, they specialize in cheesecake. This is my favourite cheesecake in the city. If you like light and fluffy cheesecake you will love it here. The cafe has plenty of tables and I rarely have to wait long for a table. They have a very romantic ambience but I would come here regardless of whether I am on a date or hanging out with friends. On weekend nights they usually have a live pianist which really adds to the ambience. My favourite cheesecake is the strawberry cheesecake. Highly recommend giving this place a try! read more
I have been coming here ever since my elementary school days, and it's sad to say that there's no doubt in my mind the cheesecakes have gone downhill. Gone are the days of fluffy and flavourful original cheesecakes, instead you get a tough and bland tasting slice with a ridiculous amount of whipped cream. (Although to be fair, they've always served the cake with that much whipped cream). You can honestly get a much better tasting cheesecake from a supermarket. The service is also abysmal, perhaps they may be understaffed for the holiday season. Not only did it take forever to put our order in, they also initially brought it to the wrong table. When they finally did bring us our cakes, they didn't bring it with any cutlery so we just sat there staring at our mountains of whipped cream as we waited another several minutes. I would say their prices are very reasonable by today's standards but unfortunately they don't have the taste or service to back it up. I guess they don't need to worry about it too much since it seems that cheesecake etc./tigers is perpetually busy. read more
Little has changed in the last 20 years plus I've gone here, from university days right through having kids and no life. Went again this evening and enjoyed the cheesecake which is almost Japanese style being fluffy and not so sweet. Had the strawberry topping, have tried others over the years but the cheesecake with strawberries and whipping cream is just so perfect. Artsy atmosphere with low lights and many nights live music. Sad to hear the owners have passed away and hope the family continues on with this special retreat. read more
2 flavours of cheesecake isn't exactly a cheesecake dessert place. A plain cheesecake with strawberry sauce or a chocolate one with strawberry sauce. Extra for chocolate sauce. Comes with whipped cream. A LOT of it. It basically is smothered in whipped cream. Normally I don't mind whipped cream, but there was actually more whipped cream than cheesecake here. The cake itself was nothing too special, and I think some store bought ones might even be better. I was disappointed. They also serve coffees and teas, as well as juices to accompany your dessert. Service here is bad. The girls are acting as though they really don't want to work there, hence ignored us a couple of times. No smiles, no greeting. There is live piano music though, and I think I enjoyed that more than my cake. A dim room, good atmosphere, but not so great desserts. Pay up front at the cashier, cash only. read more
Cheesecake Etc is a really cool place to hang out late at night. There's a piano in the corner (for live Jazz, whenever that happens) and the dark lighting adds in to the almost romantic atmosphere of the café. It's pretty unfortunate that the food itself tasted just average. This is a very... specific type of cheesecake. I must say, the texture is very light, and I could almost mistake my cake for the whipped cream they spritz on the side. I wasn't exactly entranced by the strawberry syrup they poured all over, and I kind of expected, y'know, more strawberries and less sticky red stuff. I already expected this, but the tea is literally a tea bag with a pot of hot water, and it's really just cheaper to buy it in bulk. They do have a fancy coffee machine on the side to whip up some caffeinated goodness, if you're interested! Overall I'm not particularly enthused with Cheesecake Etc, but I wouldn't mind dropping by late at night to be with some friends. If it's for cheesecake, however, there are much better places to buy from. read more
The cheesecake here was decent, but not extraordinary. I had the original cheesecake with pecans and caramel sauce, and found the caramel a little bit too sweet. The interior decor has a homey, vintage feel: candles on the tables and a nice grand piano in the middle of the side room. The service was efficient. Overall, I would come back here if I was in the neighbourhood and didn't have any other plans for dessert, but probably not otherwise. read more
Came here late in the evening to have some cake with my friend. Last time I was here was a decade ago. It looks like they've expanded the place to next door. This is a great place for late night dessert since they close at 1AM. I ordered the strawberry topping cheesecake ~$6.50. The cheesecake was good for an average cheesecake. It has a light, fluffy and whipped texture- not your usual heavy cheesecake. It's good if you prefer a lighter cake but I personally thought it needed more of the "cheese" flavour. I think the flavour was on the light side because the cake itself is airy/light. Also, the cake doesn't have the usual graham cracker bottoms. I personally enjoy eating the graham bottoms. The strawberry sauce was tasty (not too sweet) and basically gave the cake more flavour since the cake itself is kind of bland. Whipped cream was ok. I would come back here because the place is great for late night dessert but there are definitely better cheesecakes elsewhere. read more
As a cheesecake lover, finding a good cheesecake anywhere is exciting. Being my first night in Vancouver, my friend took me to Cheesecake Etc for a late-night dessert and it was delicious. Dessert time: - Original cheesecake with toasted pecans and caramel sauce - Chocolate cheesecake with whipped cream - Cappuccino This place is a great place for a late-night dessert, a date, catching up with friends, or anything of the sort. The ambiance is nice and apparently they have live music sometimes in the form of a piano player. We decided on getting two cheesecakes: one chocolate cheesecake and one original with pecans and caramel sauce. The cheesecake was creamy and delicious. I liked that the chocolate cheesecake wasn't too sweet and tasted more like a dark chocolate with some bitterness. The original with the caramel sauce was delicious and not too heavy or sweet. The cappuccino was average, but was good with the cheesecake. Service was decent. We didn't see our server again after we got our cheesecake and our waters were empty, but it wasn't that big of a deal. Since this place is just for dessert, I wasn't expecting much in terms of service anyways. This place is good for cheesecake lovers and I would definitely come back. read more
I could have made better cheesecake. What happened to their recipe? I have tried this place a handful of times in my life and yesterday night was the worst thus far. The cheesecake (the chocolate one) was mousse-like and watery. The taste was there but the texture was lacking in all forms. I wanted my money back. To make it more unpleasant, the light above our table kept dimming in and out. My friends who had the original with toppings didn't like theirs either. read more
Meh. I don't know what the hype is. Sure the cheesecake is reasonably priced but it's not the greatest cheesecake. The decor inside is dark with dim lighting. There's practically no service. Just someone to take and serve your order. We had to seat ourselves. We were served a dirty fork and had to ask for a new one. Popular with the Asians. Almost felt like a bubble tea place minus the bubble tea. Menu selection is small. Considering the cheesecake is premade, it took a long time for the food to be served. Ordered the blueberry cheesecake. They forgot the blueberry sauce so we sent it back. The cheesecake itself is light with no crust. Can tell they whip it as it had a lot of air in it. The topping itself was ok. Just a fruit syrup almost like a diluted jam. Personally I prefer a rich and dense cheesecake with a crust and fresh fruit. Maybe I expected too much or I'm too particular with my cheesecake. Wouldn't recommend this place. You're better off going to a dessert place like True Confections or Sweet Obsession. read more

Service: 0/10 - Friendly server - Never came by to check on us, ever - Never had a single water refill - We had to go find our server every time we needed something and it wasn't even a busy or packed night Atmosphere: 10/10 - Live piano & singer, classy music - Romantic, loungey feel - Singular flickering candlelight on every table - There are booths Food: 9/10 - Cheesecake itself was bomb, 10/10 Original was best. - Only reason why it isn't 10/10 is because the plating was poor. If you order cake with strawberries or blueberries, they're almost pouring out of the miniature plate and the plate is way way way too tiny to compliment the cake. read more

First time having Cheesecake! Wait... In a dim atmospheric Jazz Piano Bar. It was so dimly lit that my Cheesecake Trifle had just enough light on it so it didn't look completely like Poop. It was quite Moussey but not something I would go back again... Cheesecake was definitely the winner quite light & fluffy unlike the NY style dense & crumbly variety. I am somewhat bias in prefering this style since most Cheesecakes I've had anywhere are the dense gummy texture that takes more work to eat. I'm not so sure if a Jazz Piano Bar reminds me of a Cheesecake place. I originally thought of this place more of a Fine Dining Cajun New Orleans spot just walking inside. While it might not be the spot for me, it was however a perfect spot for couples which amazes me that it's not much more popular of a Dessert spot for after dinner. read more

Hands down probably some of the best cheesecake I've ever had - I'm still drooling thinking about it!! Its definitely a perk that it's open late, but ambiance wise, I think it's a little too dark inside at times. I had the original cheesecake with strawberries on it, and it was perfectly moist and fluffy. We didn't stay for long, since we had had a long day, but I left satisfied! Wait for me, Cheesecake Etc, I'll be back for you!! read more
