Classic Philly Cheese Steak, large
Steve D.

@ Monterey Plaza 5524 Monterey Rd San Jose, CA 95138 Stopped here for a quick meal break during work. Staff were busy working on orders, and I had to wait. The young man took my order and said it will take 5 mins. I ordered a Classic Philly Cheese Steak sandwich, large, no pepper. It was about $12. It's a basic sandwich, with a decent amount of meat and cheese. If you want more, then you need to order the King of Philly sandwich for $3+ more. They have alot of specialty sandwiches too. Restaurant is pretty spacious, so it can handle groups. Staff were all smiles, friendly and helpful. I would return if I'm in the area. Free parking in plaza lot.

Considering we came before the lunch crowd some of the tables/chairs looked cleaner than others. Beware of the clear sign no bathrooms for customers. The service was good considering we were of a few other customers. The Motown philly had mushrooms and white American cheese. Ordered the large size and cut it into two. The bread was soft. The curly fries were freshly fried. The $1.15 for a small cup of cheese whiz is a rip. I would go back, but maybe just take out

King Philly.

King Philly is their Classic Philly Cheese Steak w/ 50% more cheese and meat. Also ordered onion rings to accompany my Philly. Go big or go home mentality. This place is much cheaper than Amato's but they're smaller. They definitely gave me a lot of meat. It was only $15. The meat and cheese ratio did not match, so most of my bites had meat only. Not complaining but wanted to make that observation in case you are looking for a cheesy Philly cheesesteak. The onion rings were good. Cannot go wrong w/ ordering a Philly here.

It looks good but it is a deceiving kind of look, it does not taste how it looks. Does not taste fresh.

This was my first time at this place. I very much regretted it. You can't expect to be tipped when I am only picking up and bringing home my food and not dining in. I have no obligation to tipping. I ordered five steak sandwiches I got ground beef that tasted like sloppy joes but without the sauce. I was expecting slices of steak but you will not get that if you ordered the steak sandwich. Not sure if they were supposed to add cheese but I didn't get it if I was supposed to. The workers there are not cheerful and friendly or welcoming. They need to work on their customer service. The french fries do not taste as good as it looks, they taste fake and overcooked. Never coming back for the second time. All right this restaurant a ZERO WITH FIVE THUMBS DOWN NO STARS! I wasted my money. When I could have went somewhere else that had better quality food..

I've been chowing on cheesesteaks at this location for over 25 years. Never have I been to Philly, yet this is my favorite cheese steak of all time.. Love the grilled onions with the sweet and spicy peppers.

Came by for lunch and oh boy was it packed, That's how I know the place is good! I ordered a Large Classic Philly Cheesesteak sandwich and made it a combo with steak fries and a drink. The sweet peppers and onions gave it that extra flavor from a hint of sweetness.

I remember this wonderful cheese steak shop from my childhood. It's been here for years, and I decided to revisit it--it did not disappoint. Cheese Steak Shop serves up classic cheese steaks in various styles. You can get the classic Philly, or add mushrooms, extra hot peppers, or even pizza cheese steak. Whatever you like, they make it happen. Despite what you may order, the cheese steak tradition is strong with this place. The staff was friendly on my recent visit, and I had no problem ordering ahead. The cheese steak was fresh and melting with cheese--it was a bite of nostalgia. Not bad, Cheese Steak Shop, not bad!

Good cheese steak sandwich. Fast service on a lunch break and there's always parking outside. It isn't the cleanest inside, but the sandwiches are definitely good. Good food for a good price.

Classic Regular size with all three peppers

4.5 for me but I'll round up haha. I went with the regular(half-size) Classic Cheese Steak with all three options of peppers included. Delicious with melty cheese just how I like my cheese steaks/hoagies/etc. I think the Half-size with a side of fries is perfect as a lunch combo and I was full for hours later. The Full-Size with a side of fries is a challenge, but if you can finish both then more power to ya. Nit-pick: Ordering to-go, the plastic bag holding the meal trapped steam/moisture inside and softened to bread and fries, better to eat the meal dine-in or quickly after carry-out before it gets soggy!

Sandwiches at Erik's Delicafe are always irresistible and just too good, so it keeps me returning for something new each time. Good full size sandwiches available. Chicken Pesto $10.99 The pesto was liked. We voted not to add this place to our list of regular lunch spots haha. But who knows, might give them another chance down the line.

Not much service for dining inside. Seats are comfortable. Outdoor seating is available. Tipping optional, but I still tip them for hardworking efforts. There's a trash and recycling area near the doors. Parking lot isn't the best since it's usually heavy in traffic and there are narrow parking spots down a few doors. Hot Prices, Cold Chicken, and a Whole Lot of Disappointment!…read more Our first visit to Dave's Hot Chicken was also our last. Unfortunately, what we hoped would be a tasty, satisfying meal turned into an overpriced and underwhelming experience from start to finish. My husband and I decided to give Dave's a try and ordered takeout: a two-piece chicken tender meal with fries, one additional tender, and a large popcorn chicken. The damage? A whopping $32! For that price, we certainly expected something better than what we received. First came the wait. It took more than 15 minutes to prepare our relatively simple order, while other customers who arrived after me received their food and left before I did. When I expressed frustration about the delay, the staff seemed equally frustrated with me and explained that the popcorn chicken takes longer to cook. Fair enough, but a little communication and better customer service would have gone a long way. Unfortunately, the food itself was an even bigger disappointment. We ordered our chicken with medium heat, expecting something along the lines of a traditional hot chicken flavor with a little Buffalo-style kick. Instead, the seasoning had an unexpected curry-like taste that neither of us particularly enjoyed. It just wasn't the flavor profile we were anticipating. The large popcorn chicken was especially disappointing. The portion was surprisingly skimpy, and the chicken was dry, bland, and practically flavorless. For something that supposedly required extra cooking time, the result was hardly worth the wait. And here's the kicker: Despite our food having just been prepared, it was already cold by the time we got home! We live only a short distance away, so there's really no reason our meal shouldn't have still been warm. Between the excessive price, lengthy wait, disappointing service, lackluster flavors, skimpy portions, and cold food, there wasn't a single redeeming quality about this experience. It's a good thing we weren't particularly hungry, because this meal certainly didn't leave us satisfied. The bottom line? Dave's Hot Chicken brought the heat to our wallet, but definitely not to our taste buds. We gave it a shot, but at $32 for this experience, we'll gladly take our appetites and money elsewhere. One visit was more than enough for us!
