Cheap eats! This review is from their opening weekend: Went there last night to check it out for the first time and on the fence. When we arrived there was quite the crowd awaiting tables, but we were seated within an hour. Not bad considering its new and was a Friday. Our waitress was pretty cool and very open about the place and some of its "issues". I asked her why on earth a bar would have QVC on all but one of its TVs. Her response shocked me: apparently they do not control the TVs there, they come on daily at a set time. If this is true, someone at corporate needs smacked. When it came time to order we were informed that they ran out of ribs already. It was 630 in the evening! Again, we were told it happens every weekend, no ribs after 6-630. Wow, time to replace kitchen manager. So I ordered the Steak and Tenders combo and she ordered the Chicken and Waffles. All in all the food was good, though the steak was a little dry (and extremely small). Since the place has only been open for a few weeks, I am hoping they'll work out the kinks. I plan on going again in a month or so. read more

We had the spinach dip appetizer (fantastic) the chicken pot pie and pork chops fantastic and deserts shot glass was very small with half crust in bottom but tasted great and most people are do full you can't eat it all anyway. The service is always great, and even when the restaurant is really crowded the wait has never been super long. I highly recommend the queso dip and chips for an appetizer. We can't say enough good things about this restaurant....for one, we both ordered the lemon-butter whitefish with rice - it was outstanding (and we are whitefish "experts" from Michigan). I ordered the beans as a side and they too were great. My husband had the broccoli cheddar side and he loved it. The waitress was pleasant, talkative, attentive (but not too attentive) knowledgeable and accommodating with my wine request (I don't know her name - but I do know she used to be in the Air Force - please give her these accolades). I usually dislike chain restaurants, but after coming back to York, after being in NJ for a year, I noticed Cheddar's had been built while I was away, and decided to try it. I liked it so much the first time, that I've been back there 4 times in a month and a half! I give it 5 stars (which I rarely do), because each time my BF and I have been there, everything has been excellent and the price and the friendliness of the staff have been second-to-none. I have ordered their sirloin steak a couple of times and it is delicious. I have gotten their Loaded Baked Potato and Broccoli Cheese Caserole as side dishes and they are both awesome and tasty. Cheddar's also has this neat little side dish of simply warm croissants with melted butter and honey over them, and it is like eating heaven! I have also had their salmon in bourbon sauce, and also grilled shrimp with the bourbon sauce, and it is amazing. Their spinach dip appetizer with freshly-fried nachos and salsa is amazing. Everything tastes fresh, including the salsa which is simple, but the fresh cilantro in it, with its bit of a kick, sends it over the edge. Their iced tea is wonderfully fresh, and I got raspberry iced tea and it is so gold and simple - not sickly sweet or fake-tasting. Their coffee is good, and I got a dessert earlier, which, although I can't remember the name of it, was awesome. It was like bread pudding, but it was made of croissants instead, half-melted chocolate chips, butter, I think maple syrup and some caramel, and it was topped with a scoop if vanilla ice cream! I usually like independent restaurants, but I took a chance on Cheddar's and I am hooked. You really have to try it - if only just once. read more

Stopped here on a Sunday afternoon with the family for lunch/early dinner. We got excellent service from our waitress, Marissa. And the food was pretty good also! Daughter had the ribs, excellent. Wife had Dijon Chicken, couldn't have been better. Son had a bacon cheeseburger with a side of Mac and Cheese. He wanted more Mac and Cheese. I had the Lemon Pepper Chicken, very good. We had Onion Rings and Quesadilla appetizers. They were great. The food was excellent, Marissa was excellent, the volleyball was good. I used to love this restaurant. Apparently they changed the cook staff. Anyhow we got our main than our appetizer. They did comp the app which was correct of them. However both my S.O. and myself became very sick after the meal. Not sure what they did but I can only guess it is a sanitation issue considering we ordered our favorite combo and have never had this issue before. York, PA. I was there on a first date. The server was perfect. Everything you could ask for! The food......amazing! We actually spent over 5 hours talking over dinner, and were oblivious to the fact that they closed a half hour before we left. We were the only ones there (besides the staff). Our recent experience at this restaurant has got to be one of our worst meals ever. We had an out of town friend visiting and thought this would be a nice place to visit. It took a while to be seated, but even longer to be served. Our waiter apologized and we overheard another do the same to their table. My friend ordered the blackened salmon salad, I ordered the light fare salmon, and my husband ordered the chicken strips. I'll start with the best- my husbands chicken strips were over-breaded and the fries cold. My salmon was okay, but had a funny color to it. My meal came with two sides and I chose carrots and Mac & cheese. I was informed when the meal was served that they were out of carrots and I then ordered broccoli. The Mac & cheese had curly pasta and watery cheese. My friends Salmon was definitely not blackened and was not good at all, the lettuce in her salad had brown edges. They did substitute the salmon with chicken breast after we complained and did comp the salad in the end. I never did get my broccoli. Our waiter was very nice, but the food quality was well below standard. Our wait time for our meal was excessive and the cleanliness a bit lacking as the floor beneath out table was very "slippery". We won't be coming back here. Most times I'll give a place a second chance, but not with this many issues. read more

Came here for dinner yesterday with two friends of mine. We waited 15 minutes for drinks and then over 30 minutes for food. My friends got the chicken tender platter and the chicken was cold. I got the salmon salad and it looked great when it came out. As I was taking the ramekin of dressing off to pour it on the salad, I pulled out a long black hair from the salad mix. The waitress came over and offered to have it remade, but I was so hungry at this point I said they could keep the salmon the same and just remake the salad part. Well that took another 20 minutes to get done. After it eventually came out hairless it was actually quite good, but any normal restaurant would probably have given something, a dessert, discount, or even a manager over to apologize. But no, nothing. I work in a restaurant so I didn't want to be difficult, but I was very unimpressed with the service. read more

Been there many times. The last time was last week, and it will be the last time. Wife's fish dinner was way over cooked. Waitress pretty much ignored us and failed to bring the wife's side till we finally got her attention about it. My glass of water went empty pretty quick and was never refilled. The floor was dirty and watching 4 wait staff standing and talking at the bar instead of someone grabbing a broom was the last straw. It's sad, because we've had some great meals there. Our family's favorite! They have such a wide assortment of foods to choose from, it's great. We order something different almost every time and have loved every thing we've tried. This place was a great find. My family and I were out to visit colleges when we passed Cheddar's and decided to give it a chance. We waited about 15 minutes for a table and had drinks within a few minutes. I got a house salad with my meal and it was a typical salad, except for the amazing slice of heaven sitting on the side of the bowl. It was a honey buttered croissant, and it was simply delicious! The next part of the meal that I had was lemon peppered chicken with mashed potatoes and a baked potato. Everything was delicious and I cleaned my plate! The mashed potatoes were especially tasty! Overall a great dining experience with friendly service and delicious food. Also the prices matched the quality of the food and the ambiance of the restaurant. read more
