This has never been one of my favorite places but I have a group of friends I get together with and they will pick this and I just go along with it because I enjoy the company and the drinks are usually good. After a long, crazy day I was looking forward to a sangria. I got my food and ate half of it but I never did receive it and finally my friend spoke up for me. The waiter tells me, oh, we don't have anymore sangria. Really? You don't have some cheap red wine and some fruit in that ginormous bar? I think he forgot about my drink and came up with an excuse. I came here at my fiancé's request. I am vegan. I tried ordering the vegetable plate which is soup or salad and 4 sides. I go to order the green beans and it has lard in it. I go for the corn and it is doused in butter. Before I went vegan and was overweight I would have loved these options. I loved all the animal derivatives as unhealthy as it was now I just see what problems I had in becoming healthy. I love Lisa A., but I almost fell out of my chair when she wrote about her disappointing experience at Cheddar's. I mean, Cheddar's was the staple of my college experience (along with Chick-Fil-A) and I just couldn't imagine someone not enjoying their meal wholeheartedly. Keeping this in mind, I told myself that I'd check out a Houston store to see if the food was much different than the chain that I was used to. I was not disappointed. I was promptly seated (and I was happy to see the large fans in the center room that are more for decoration than actual air movement) and my Dr. Pepper was brought out cold and with the appropriate syrup/carbonation ratio. When I go with others, I tend to order the spinach dip and queso for appetizers (they really are so good that you need both) and the Monte Cristo or burger. However, since I was dining alone and was on my way to work today, I decided to keep it short and simple. I got the lunch combo (you can get it with two choices for $5.99 or three choices for $6.99): chicken tortilla soup, house salad, and half of a club sandwich. They were out in a few minutes and I was done and out of there in less than half an hour. I'm not a huge proponent of chains, but they're perfect for picky eaters and consistency. The prices here are much nicer than similar places like Chili's and I always leave with leftovers. This location is a bit inconvenient since they're doing all the construction on I-45, but it is well worth a detour to get yummy food. Plus, when it is warm again, the outdoor seating can be very nice. Other miscellaneous happy things about Cheddars: they give you these nice, thick disposable napkins that are great so you don't go through a billion of them in one seating, the fans are always a nice touch, and with each salad you get the most wonderfully soft croissants (with a nice dab of honey) that just melts in your mouth. read more

Our server Crystal was so terrific after she finally came around to take our orders -- particularly in contrast to a heinous experience I had at another Cheddar's -- that I'm still giving 4 stars: she was friendly, attentive without being annoying, and funny. Charm counts for me, totally, on service -- not creepiness or anything forced mind you -- but add that to efficiency for the rest of the night, and I'll totally overlook any earlier service issues. Good food, great price, (eventually) great service = 4 stars, easy (Sidenote: since my sister & I split a burger, the bill was uber-cheap -- I tried to fight J for the check, but Crystal intervened :D -- she had asked if we wanted to split the check, and I asked for my sister's & mine (forgetting we just split an entree, duh, so a spilt check would have been HALF :D), just as J said, "No." So I repeated myself, but Crystal just said, "Nuh-uh -- when a man offers to pay, you gotta listen to the man." Very good food, most meals are $10-15 a person. We had to wait for our drinks go be refilled a couple of times and other times they are bringing you a new drinks as soon as you drank half of it. Hadn't eaten at cheddar's in awhile because during COVID they took things off the menu that were my favorites and reasons that I liked to eat there, since then they have added one of my favorites back to the menu only they have changed the recipe and ingredients. It was not good at all. That was my second time trying it since it's been put back on. It's the key west chicken and shrimp. It's not even close to the same. We also ordered the spinach dip, it was served room temperature and we had to send it back to be heated. It was ok but not as good as I remember. I really want to give more stars because the food here is always so good and such a great value but we've had our share of troubles with our food orders here. I want to first off say that the staff here is great and the service is almost always good. There is usually a wait if you come at peak times but we have never had to wait even as long as what they quoted us at. The food is SO GOOD. And the value is even better! It might sound simple but their chicken tenders are my favorite and they have such a great selection of sides! The appetizers are great too and we really enjoy the queso and the spinach dip the most. However, more than twice now, when we have ordered an appetizer it either has come out literally with our meals or not all. Last visit we just told the server we didn't want our queso after our meal was delivered before it. It was a disappointing but she was really apologetic and we totally understand that this kind of stuff happens but it's happened too many times to us now. I recently had my birthday party here. I love Cheddar's particularly for its large portions, great drinks, and pretty cheap prices. There was about 20 people, and the waiters were really nice with my requests. However, I felt the service was pretty slow. It took us about an hour and a half for everyone to get their foods. In my opinion, that is way too long for a group of starving people! My favorite appetizer from here is definitely the Spinach Dip! They don't take reservations, however you can rent out a room that you would have to pay I think it was $25 per hour and the max of hours you can have the room is three. Note on the desserts, I ordered the Cookie Monster. I expected it to be a LARGE cookie. However, it came out in a pan that was about the size of a pancake. Just a little bit bigger. Cheddar's is new to this south side. It's nice, atmosphere is pleasant, decor is classy (love the big wispy fans). We looooved looooved the spinach dip, even enough to order it when on a date and risk the spinach in the teeth, aahhh. The crossiants that come with the salads are warm and soft! On different occasions, I have tried the Dijon Chicken, a large honey mustard chicken salad, and the ribs- all good. During busy times, there can be a bit of a wait (hello that means it's popular) and it's not very good for large groups (mostly round tables). But still 4/5 stars! read more

Get the salmon--you wont be disappointed. Its always flaky and fresh. The broccoli casserole is cheesy with a crunchy topper. The lunch portion is available at all times which i appreciate. Theyre never stingy with the lemons for the water which alot of places are. The salad with fresh croissants are a delight. Ive never had a disappointing meal here--its always consistently yummy. We came in around 7:30pm on a Wednesday night so it's moderately busy.. yes? Yes, a few tables around us empty and a few full, pretty busy night for the servers because even after we left there was people still coming in. Our server's name was Adrian and he was extremely knowledgeable about the menu. My friend I was dining with wanted rice as a side dish but Adrian informed us that the dish already included rice but if they wanted it extra portion then that was fine as well. Thanks for letting us know! He also told us the dessert would take 15 minutes because it has to actually be baked for each order (MONSTER COOKIE). Their flavored iced teas are EXTREMELY sweet! It almosts tastes like soda but the flavor is there, oh yes. I order the lunch portion Salmon (Bourbon Glaze) which came with rice and my choice of Sweet Baby Carrots and Broccoli Cheese Rice. The Bourbon glaze was delicious with the Salmon and it wasn't overly smothered, yum! Everything was delicious! I was impressed that the baby carrots were cooked perfectly as well because it's either too mushy or still super crunchy, here, it's perfect! The Monster Cookie is also a wonderful treat but how much can you screw up a freshly baked chocolate chip cookie with ice cream and whipped cream? Still delicious. Overall, wonderful experience. Food is good, not super great but being the Salmon and everything with it was $7.99, I don't expect fancy food. My table was a little sticky so that's the irk for this review but other than that, wonderful. read more

This place is great I go here when ever I can. It is usually always busy, because they are so good and cheap. I always order the grilled salmon with bourbon sauce. It is amazing! My mother always gets the chicken pot pie, the crust is so fluffy. The croissants are great. The last time I went it was so busy, and they hired new ppl for summer. So a new cook didnt cook my salmon all the way, I told the waiter and he apologized and sent it back. The genereal manager came and apologized and said my food would be remade. The staff was nice and I got my new salmon which was delicious. Out of all the times I have come here they have only messed up once because of a new worker but they quickly fixed the problem and were very polite. I still love this place! read more
