Great food, large portions. We've been here twice now and this will be our go to spot in Alvin. Amanda was great!

Scrambled egg biscuit with country potatoes. Typically smothered in sausage gravy but I asked for mine in the side. Delish.

This place is not super fancy inside but it was clean clean and the food was very good. I'm not usually in this area but it was a good stop. Our server was super nice and took great care of us. I got scrambled egg covered biscuit with sausage gravy. Another person in our group had a waffle that she said was delicious and one had a chicken fried steak that looked VERY good. Every bite was gone! Very good and the prices were great.

Today was my first experience and I went in for breakfast. I haven't been to any of the locations in area but heard great things from other so I decided to give it a try. Walking in you have that nice cozy mom and pop dining atmosphere with plenty of seating. There is a smoking section with closed doors but if your sitting close enough you can smell the smoke once the door opens which isn't very pleasant. Our waitress was very friendly and had great customer service which was a highlight of this visit. I had a biscuit and gravy breakfast with potatoes. The potatoes were awesome the gravy was delicious but the biscuits weren't all that, they just didn't have much flavor and were not the best. Not sure if I would give another shot to a different location.

Pie! Nom nom! Pecan was delicious! Their apple pie was flavorful!

The food is great, waitstaff has been a tad forgetful about refills and providing simple requests. Each time we have been there we have had to request and remind waitress about different things, menu items, side dishes not delivered, while I'd heard their bigger than your head cinnamon rolls are delicious it takes forever to get one to go. Why? Who knows. But we prefer their pies while not spectacular are better than the underwhelming cinnamon rolls! BUT, like I said the food is delicious! Their chicken fried steak is awesome! Haven't had a burger yet but hubbys looked delicious!

Fantastic breakfast spot in my hometown, BLT with a medium well fried egg. Nice gooey center.

Service today was LOUSY. 4/3/22. Ordered kids pancake breakfast with 3 sausage patties, 2 teas, burger with fries and a piece of chocolate cake. Burger with fries & 3 pieces sausage took long enough that tea was gone but at least part of food order arrived together. After kid ate all the sausage & half my fries I had to ask for someone to bring the pancake from the window where it had been for at least 5 minutes. It wasn't 1 kids pancake but 3 full size pancakes. Our server was standing right in front of the window where food is put when ready to serve but busy chatting up a coworker while cutting lemons so someone else brought it. Kid was full so ate 4 bites & we sat 15 minutes waiting for the bill, cake & tea refill. Server showed up for tea refill, I asked for cake & a to go box for pancakes. Server printed out the bill & handed it to me. 10 more minutes & I got to go box & went to pay. Server rang up sale said have a good day and I had to ask for the cake. The food is ok, kid loves the pancakes. I'm including a picture of the tea glass the refill came in. Some of those chipped areas look sharp. DId not drink out of it.

I've been wanting to try Red Oak Cafe for a while…read more I love their back story and Christian theme. My friend & fellow elite and I arrived on a Saturday around 11AM and didn't have to wait for a table. I had the Big Breakfast which includes 2 pancakes. They have so many different mix-ins for their pancakes, anyone's bound to find their perfect mix-in combo. I think I found mine with the banana pecan mix-ins and sides of strawberry butter. The pancakes are huge. I ended up taking one home. The bananas weren't too sweet and had the perfect amount of ripeness for the pancakes. I ended up getting 2 sides of strawberry butter but could've easily eaten like four of the small . The biscuit with the big breakfast was fluffy and delicious especially with the yummy strawberry butter. The eggs over medium were cooked perfectly. The cheddar jalapeno grits were a little bland but did the trick. I tried my pal's hash browns and they were perfectly seasoned and thoroughly cooked but not crispy. The hash browns are definitely the better option over the grits. The bacon was delicious and perfectly crispy. I asked the waiter for crispy but not burnt bacon and he got it just right. The restaurant was warm and inviting. The waiter was super personable and helpful. I felt like I was at breakfast Disneyland. I was able to get anything I wanted with no problem and with the kindest most helpful attitude from the waiter. I look forward to returning!

You just don't see that often and I wanted to try it. The stars aligned and my family and I met up here for a weeknight dinner. Alvin is the true definition of a small town. It is just south of Pearland and life moves a little slower out here. Atleast for time being as it is becoming more developed now. The building itself is old and full of character. Everyone seemed to know each other. The staff was very welcoming and friendly, but service was a tad bit slow at times. My family isn't a big drinking family so we stuck with water and sodas, but they have quite a nice bar program here. They have a really impressive beer selection, a long list of specialty cocktails and lots of wine to choose from. I'm definitely coming back to check that out without the fam. For appetizers, we got an order of the scotch eggs and the Bavarian pretzel sticks. This was my first introduction to scotch eggs and a wonderful one at that. You really can't go wrong with anything wrapped in sausage and deep friend. It was a nice treat and something I will not be sharing next time. The pretzels were also very good. Our waitress suggested some cheese sauce to accompany those. These sticks of goodness were excellent. For my entree, I was stuck on a few items as their menu is pretty extensive. Our waitress said my option for the Pork Milanesa was the way to go, so I did. I've had milanesa at Mexican restaurants, but never in a tavern nor prepared this way. This was hand battered in panko and then topped with a mushroom gravy. It comes with broccoli and mashed potatoes but I substituted the veggie for mac and cheese. This dish was very good and the portions were very generous. Enough for me to have a full second meal minus the sides. The pork was thinly pounded and kept it's crunch even doused in gravy. The gravy was rich and very delicious. My family got a mix of items like the philly cheese steak, flat iron steak salad, tavern salad, and chicken fried steak. For research purposes and for my loyal readers, I tried everything. There wasn't anything that was bad to me. We were full so desserts didn't happen on this trip. Overall, Gordon Street Tavern is a solid spot that I would happily return to if in the area.

Mashed potatoes: The mashed potatoes were great. They are smooth with no skin or chunks inside. The gravy came on top which added great flavor. Mac and Cheese: My mac and cheese came out a little cold but it was alright. It wasn't extremely cheesy either, it just tasted a little plain for my taste. I wish it was more cheesy and warmer. Buttered corn: Speaks for itself. It's corn kernels and butter. Cant mess that up. Overall, very good food and you can tell lots of butter was put into every dish.
