This past weekend my family and I visited this Cheddars. We are not from San Antonio might i add. We were beyond disappointed. The staff at first seemed very attentive but then it took over 20 mins and us reminding the host about our drinks. Then after we placed our order they mentioned it will take some time since we ordered majority steak plates for dinner. Which we all understood. Then upon the arrival of our plates and 3 out of the 5 steaks were under cooked compared to what we ordered. Even the hamburgers we undercooked. Steaks were removed and even a second time 1 of the steaks was still rare. Amount other things as well towards the end of dinner we asked for napkins took 15 mins to come back, asked for a box to go never got it. Paying our bills was even an event at that. Management did speak to us but they just brushed it off and made it seem it was a simple issue when the 2nd round of plates came out. So just be aware, when visiting of a "large" party. read more

I have been here a handful of times and never had bad service, one time they brought a cake my family had brought, out for us...if that makes sense, reliable service reasonable price good plain food. I usually eat a la carte here and I appreciate the simplicity. read more

Okay. To be fair, I love Chedders' food. I've never had a meal that I didn't enjoy here. So when we decided to go Chedders for my grandmas 77th birthday I was pretty stoked. We called ahead to let them know that we would have a party of 12 coming at 2:30, they kindly let us know that they don't take call aheads-- which is fine. When we arrived there we let them know that we had 12 and it was for a birthday party... we patiently waited for 45 (what they quoted) when we were seated, we were not sitting together. The hostess did not ask us if we wanted to sit together or separate. It wouldn't matter if we were just friends hanging out, but it was grandmas birthday. We had to wait additional time in order to sit and eat. (About an hour and 30 min all together) In addition to that, my aunt went to the restroom and noticed that an employee didn't wash her hands(um, eww) when she brought it to the managers attention and pointed her out, he didn't even look to see who it was and made my aunt feel stupid. Now we get to the good, my brother in laws plate looked like it hadn't been washed ( on the bottom-- there was left over food) my brothers salad, had literally NO lettuce, and they forgot my sisters meal. It just gave us a really poor view of the whole dining experience. read more

Be prepared to wait!!! Have been there twice. Same wait for food...at least 30-45 minutes. Not a big deal when my husband and I were by ourselves, but with our two babies it was stressful!!! Appetizer came at same time as meal. Waitress wondering around and not helpful. Waited more on the couple seated next to us as if ignoring we were there with kids and needed to hurry!!! We've eaten there twice in the last few weeks and the food was fantastic both times. The Cornmeal Catfish was the best I've had in over 3 years! (Haven't found any I liked better in the whole San Antonio area!!) My vegetables were cooked perfectly, as well. My daughter had the Monte Cristo sandwich which she also loved (and shared bites with some of us - YUM). I can also vouch for the Asian Salad. In fact, all the meals ordered were enjoyed by each of us. Highly recommend! read more

This is close to my house so it's easy to come here. I really like the croissants (I am a bread girl), they are like the red lobster biscuits, the draw for coming back again and again. The food is good and at a reasonable cost and the portions are big enough to share. I have not found a favorite yet, but I did try the bread pudding this time - my husband liked it. :/ read more

This place has good food and good prices. We went there this week and the waitress was the best, she was very help on many fronts, drinks delivered early and topped off frequently, fresh rolls, brought out new silverware, and just a very nice attitude...made the whole eating out experience much nicer. We had soup n' sandwich...it's technically a 1/4 sandwich, but it's a triple decker so there's plenty there...the salad was very fresh and tasty and the blue cheese was good. Two people had chicken tenders and were very happy with them. So for the money, it's a good chain restaurant. Kudos to the management and staff. read more

Horrific service at bar. Luke was rude unattentive and almost seemed pissed off. Blond lady on labor day evening couldn't crack a smile if it killed her. The worse service I've experienced. I seemed rushed by them. My drink sat empty blond lady couldn't be bother while Luke ignored I needed another. Honestly didn't eat much just because I wanted to get the hell out of there. We used to love going here when it first opened, but had a few bad experiences and quit going. Tried it again last week and safe to say we won't ever be going back! Silverware was dirty, stuff was stuck to one of the water glasses, the table was sticky and seat felt gross. We waited forever for a very busy server to finally have time to come get our drink order. I tried the mushroom Dijon chicken and the mushrooms were clearly out of a can and I don't even know if they were cooked/heated, and the seasoning and flavor was so over whelming in the tiny dry pieces of chicken that I was done after just a couple bites. We were seating next to a table with a screaming child the entire time- impossible to even carry on a conversation. Two of us had sides of broccoli and it came out AFTER we were done eating even though we reminded them when they delivered the food. My daughter got the Philly cheesesteak and it was pretty dry and gross, she didn't even eat half of it. And I have a child with a food allergy and I didn't feel very confident that they cared or verified her food was safe for her. Overall- too loud, dirty, and bad food. So my friend and I come here relatively often. And we have always had a decent experience. However, this past visit I felt compelled to leave a review, I rarely leave reviews. Our waitress, Sabrina was extremely agitated and just down right grumpy. You could tell she hates being there and that she's just plain angry at life. She slammed down the waters my 7 year old and I asked for, rolled her eyes when she messed up the bills, and pretty much absolutely no service with any kind of smile at all. She was down right bitter and you could tell she didn't want us in her section. I'm Not sure if she had a bad day or has a bad life but a word of advice, fake it till you make it sweetheart. The part that the sticks with me the most is that our booth was directly behind her kiosk and I could hear her aggressively punching the orders in to the computer, and my friend was able to see how disgusted she was with what she was adjusting on the screen. I don't think we will be back for a while and if we ever have her as a waitress again, we will definitely ask to sit elsewhere. read more

We love Cheddars. We go often although their services food is never consistent. Today they missed the mark. We ordered a Long Island Iced tea & Painkiller before our meals. It took awhile for the drinks to come out and were told that the painkiller was made but not the Long Island. We ordered our meals and already received our salad/appetizer before we even had the drinks. Our drinks finally came and although it took extra time to make it wasn't even worth the wait. The Long Island iced tea was trash! I had to send it back and asked for a painkiller instead. My food comes...my salmon is undercooked and cold. I asked for a manager while the rest of my family eats their food. After 10-12 minutes of waiting for the manager "Stephanie" comes over and solely offers to remake the food with no apologies or reasoning for the mistake. I tell her that I am still waiting for my replacement drink, the painkiller. As I continue to wait for my replacement meal and replacement drink my family is already finished with their meals. That's how long it took! I had to cancel my replacement meal and was told I'll get a gift card in the mail for my Inconvenience. Luckily I get my replacement drink soon after. Unfortunately, I had to leave cheddars as hungry as I came in. Please fix these issues Cheddar's. I don't want to give up on you. read more

Would definitely not recommend this place for large dinner parties. Called three days before the dinner to ask if they could accommodate us for 12 people. We spoke to the manager and he said that was fine and to call on the day an hour before so they could get the tables together. We called when we were supposed to and they said okay and took our name down... we did actually call again to move back the time by 30 mins... but again they said it was fine. Anyways we got there and the hostess lied and said "okay give us 25 mins to get the tables together" but we said okay we would wait but then she comes out again "oh sorry I misspoke... it's going to be anywhere from 45 mins to an hour" so yeah.. if you want to be yanked around then go ahead and try but I definitely would not recommend! read more

Let me start by saying I love Cheddars (or loved I guess). I took my fiance for a birthday dinner last night to this particular location. He had never been. And while the food was okay, the service was severely lacking. We could barely hear our waiter because he spoke so softly. We ordered drinks and asked for water with them. The water never came. At the start of the meal, I discretely asked the waiter if he could arrange for a slice of cake to be brought to the table at the end of the meal to celebrate my loved one's birthday. First, my order was completely wrong. Then, rather than bring the dessert as requested he decided to ask my fiance if he wanted dessert. When the check came, he very obviously handed the bill to my fiance even though I had my card out and waiting. When he brought the check back for signature, he again handed it to my fiance rather than me whose name is on the card. Overall, very disappointed. read more

Went on a thursday night around 9 pm. Was pretty busy but there was no wait time. Had there been, I would not have waited. They had parking spaces available so after seeing many times along I-35 finally decided to give it a try. We were seated but after about 10-15 mins, no waitress had come by to even greet us or take our drink orders so we walked. Spoke to the manager who apologized and gave us some comp appetizer coupons. Decided to give it another try and came by today, friday at 3 pm. Only a few cars in the parking lot. Not busy at all. Great time to come. We were seated pretty quickly and our waitress came got out drink orders and greeted us. She was fast and remembered everything. We got our orders placed pretty fast and got our appetizers. The server we got this time was great. She did wonderfully and the food was really good. They had huge portions of food for the reasonable prices. I will come again but only during a non busy time and if we can get our same server. Would have given a 5 star had it not been for the night prior. read more

Horrible!!! My family and I went here after church, this past Sunday. On top of the long wait, being greeted rudely by some young girl with way to much make-up on and a weave that was way to long. the bus boys were literally cleaning tables one cup at a time! Then after being seated we waited even longer for our food to be brought out. only to be disappointed buy a Catfish that was not cooked through, Chicken Fried Chicken was over cooked almost burnt, with an after taste of old grease. The only bright side to this, our waiter was entertaining, she was very apologetic , for stuff completely out of her control and I feel truly bad that she works in such a horrible establishment. read more

If I could give this place zero stars, I would. The food was average at best., especially for the prices. We shared our waitress with a retirement party and she was fairly attentive given the circumstances. The real problem was the manager. My 3-year-old spilled her lemonade. I told 2 waitstaff & the manager. You would think one of them would send someone to clean it up. Nope, we sat with our feet in a puddle all night. It was so bad it ran out into the aisle where people were walking. They brought everybody's food out except my 3-year-olds. They claimed it wasn't on the ticket but it came right out & it was cold. My shrimp hadn't been cleaned so it still had black stuff in it. My son ordered a steak medium well & it came out so done it was dry. He couldn't even chew it! When I called the manager over to complain all I got were excuses. They clean the shrimp by hand so they must have missed some. Medium well means no pink. All he offered me was 2 fresh shrimp which I declined and he brought me anyway. He even had the nerve to blame it on the waitress! The waitress kept apologizing & said she would take my son's meal off if she had the authority. I told her to tell the manager that we weren't paying for it & he finally took it off the bill. He never even apologized even after I told him this was our first time there. He acted like we should be more understanding because they had a big party. I have been a sever for a year now and I know how hard it can be. But Cheddars has made it alot more difficult than it needs to be. When we first got to Cheddars with our party (5) it looked like they forgot to hire a host because ours was missing for about 10 minutes. Unfortunately for us she arrived before we walked out. When we were finally seated our waiter greeted us. We placed our drink order and our appetizer and everything seemed to go great it wasn't until it was our second bar drink and our meal order that or waiter lost all sense of competence. witch would have been excusable If he wouldn't have been such a presumptuous ass. Afer taking a decade to bring our second margarita out after being instructed not to do so because it was taking so long he basically said oh well and left it there anyway. Later our food came our except one of our meals were completely and inconceivably wrong, My baked potato had been obliterated by a microwave and my macaroni toasted like it was cooked in fish water. When confronted about our meal complications our server vindictivly stated "the kitchens busy, I'm just a server." While walking away. Thats when we found it appropriate to involve someone of higher level, if you call this manager "higher level". She walked to the table with a good attitude, good enough that she felt such great conference to interrupt us several times while we explained our frustrations. After we finally got our story out, offered to "take care of the bill" but what she really ment was that she wasn't going to make us pay for all the mistakes that her employee made. And making it a point to tell us we were wrong in assuming she said bill because it sounds so similar to meal that 5 people heard her wrong. She had the audacity to chace us down the parking lot make us pay and the have a server call us back in to pick up the card because it would be to courteous to bring it back to us. read more

Giving this place five stars because of the manager that came to my rescue. Coworker's were doubling and asked for food, I said I'd pick up Cheddar's. The Togo specialist opened my boxes and showed me the entire order, everything was great. Got to work, and realized my food wasn't in the bag (I must have not been paying attention to her bagging my order as I reached for my card). Went back to the store and mentioned that I never got my meal, the Togo specialist then had a puzzled look on her face, checked the two boxes sitting on her counter and when my meal was shown, I said it's not a big deal & to let me have a refund. I'm super lenient, these things happen in a crazy/busy restaurant on a Sunday shift change. Told the manager I was on a time crunch and insisted it was okay/there were no problems. She had it remade and dropped off across the street to me. She was very helpful, and very calm in the midst of all of the chaos, and I think that is important in order to run a restaurant smoothly. read more

Alright, so I've never actually EATEN here, but I recently had a great experience with their manager, Yessenia, and wanted to be sure to leave a review: My sister and brother-in-law, who share a birthday, had a big family dinner at this location, which my husband and I (who live in Los Angeles) could not attend. Early in the day, we had the bright idea to send a bottle of wine or champagne to the table, which as it turned out was not so easy, since Cheddar's doesn't accept credit cards over the phone. Instead of saying it wasn't possible, which I feel like so many in her position would have done, Yessenia went WAY above and beyond, first looking to see if she could make an exception (she could not), then walking me thorough the gift-card process and finally providing me with her personal email, so that she could print it out and purchase 8 small bottles of champagne and appetizers for the table. This all took place over the course of several hours and multiple phone calls. I don't know if this is standard TX hospitality or what, but Yessenia was so pro and friendly and totally made it happen. When our family arrived she had the table all set with treats and they were completely surprised! They loved it. We so appreciated Yessenia going the extra mile to make something ordinary extra special. Her service alone deserved 5 stars. THANK YOU! read more

The last 2 visits to this location have been terrible. On my last visit, they brought my chips and queso after the meal was served. The waitress that took our order only took the order.. we never saw her again. No drink refills no nothing! I called to notify the manager and he seemed to care less. Ive been to Chedders before but this location is the worst by far that is in San Antonio area .My wife and I when there 12/17/2011 the wait staff is ok the kitchen staff and managment are really BAD it took two hour to get our order then the sides where cold .my waiter told me the manager said he would come to our table that never happened he was to busy takeing care of three other tables waiting on their food .I been to the Chedders on 410 & Military the food and service is much better there.Do not go to the Selma location it is really bad read more

Poor Service? Try NO SERVICE! Went with my family this evening at 4 p.m. We were given a pager and were told there was a 15 minute wait. An hour later we still hadn't been paged so I went to check on status of seating. First I was told we weren't on the waiting list. After giving them our pager number, I was then told we had already been seated! Wow, my family outside was surprised to find out we had been eating all along instead of waiting hungrily outside! After finally being shown to a booth, it was now 5:15. A waiter gave us our menu and left. 15 minutes later at 5:30, we all kindly got up and left... our waiter had never returned. We didn't even get to order drinks. I told an employee and the front entrance that we were leaving due to no service and she didn't even seem to care. She didn't even try to find out what table we had been at. Too bad because there were still people waiting to be seated. From what I did see on the menu, the prices looked great, but I'll never get to find out how the food tasted because no service was offered. Too bad. read more

When we arrived at the place, we told the hostess that our party had already been seated and gave the name. The person could not be bothered with helping us find our table and sent us wandering around looking for the others. For the next 10 minutes, we were treated like the Leper's of SA. Wait staff were buzzing all around us but no one was coming to greet us or take a drink order. One in our party went up to that oh so helpful hostess and was told someone would be with us. I even raised my hand to try and get someone's attention but was ignored by all the wait staff. The person in my party got back up to find a manager. Finally, someone is sent and she tells us they can't find the person who has our table so she would take our order. The rolls we ordered were half RAW and some at the table wouldn't eat them so we had to go and find our waitress to get chips and salsa - which wasn't delivered until the meal came. How long does it take to put salsa in a bowl with chips?! My salmon was extremely good but my "loaded" baked potato came with sour cream and a sprinkle of shredded cheese. Where's the loaded part?? It was too bland to even finish. Every table around us was constantly surrounded by their wait staff. The Leper's of SA saw our waitress 3 times. So disappointing and we were coming to celebrate a birthday. It leaves a sour taste in your mouth. read more

Cheddar has awesome food. Huge platters to share with everyone at your table. Very nice waiters. Was fast and good. The restaurant was very clean and the ambiance was nice. The only reason we would be back would be to try the drinks and maybe the large cookie. Other than that the food was horrible. Kinda reminded me of a place that old people would go to for lunch.....oh yeah lubys cafeteria. I had the gigis spasagne or whatever it is called. A loaf of overcooked noodles with cheese in the center to form as the spackle to make it rock hard with sauce on top. Yummy right well cafeteria quality maybe or beginner 101 couldn't screw that up the way this was done. My wife had the chicken pot pie with cinnamon apples for the side. The cinnamon apples were actually granny smith apples with chopped grapes and yogurt that had turned way south for the winter. My wife took 3 bites of the pot pie and couldn't go any further. It looked like it was full of water inside it with a couple of chunks of chicken. Well good luck if you wanna try it but we are at home sick and hovering close to the bathrooms read more
