Alright, so I've never actually EATEN here, but I recently had a great experience with their manager, Yessenia, and wanted to be sure to leave a review: My sister and brother-in-law, who share a birthday, had a big family dinner at this location, which my husband and I (who live in Los Angeles) could not attend. Early in the day, we had the bright idea to send a bottle of wine or champagne to the table, which as it turned out was not so easy, since Cheddar's doesn't accept credit cards over the phone. Instead of saying it wasn't possible, which I feel like so many in her position would have done, Yessenia went WAY above and beyond, first looking to see if she could make an exception (she could not), then walking me thorough the gift-card process and finally providing me with her personal email, so that she could print it out and purchase 8 small bottles of champagne and appetizers for the table. This all took place over the course of several hours and multiple phone calls. I don't know if this is standard TX hospitality or what, but Yessenia was so pro and friendly and totally made it happen. When our family arrived she had the table all set with treats and they were completely surprised! They loved it. We so appreciated Yessenia going the extra mile to make something ordinary extra special. Her service alone deserved 5 stars. THANK YOU! read more

The last 2 visits to this location have been terrible. On my last visit, they brought my chips and queso after the meal was served. The waitress that took our order only took the order.. we never saw her again. No drink refills no nothing! I called to notify the manager and he seemed to care less. They really need to get better staff that actually care about the customer! read more

Bottom line: This restaurant and its management are not very customer friendly, nor do they take pride in how their food is served. I feel sad that I recommended this location in the past. Here is why: Three months ago, my family and I had a horrible experience of waiting over 40 minutes to get our food, receiving it cold and nothing but an apology from the manager. My youngest child had to ask the manager to compensate us since he did not have the common sense to make the offer. I contacted the corporate office (good luck trying to find how to) and never received a response. My wife and I figured things may have gotten better and decided to have a date night there. We sat in the bar area (open seating). After 15 minutes of waiting for a server, I decide to order at the bar, but grabbed the attention of a nearby server. Mind you, other servers were walking past and no one took note of the fact that we had no drinks, or had not been served. They were all in their own world. Anyway, I asked the server who was waiting our table. I bet you can guess the response - she had no idea, that triggered a series of questions by that server to other servers, in order to determine who gets to wait our table. After that comical event, someone showed up and said they would take care of us. She met us back at the table and took our drink order. Well, here it comes again - 10 minutes later; we had no drinks. I could see the two drinks at the bar. Our server finally delivered our drinks which was watered down (my wife had a frozen margarita that had melted). And, she forgot our appetizer. We placed our order for the main course. I had the chicken with honey mustard and mushrooms and she ordered the glazed salmon with corn off the cob and fresh steamed green beans (per the menu). Of course, given the lateness of the appetizer, our food arrived shortly thereafter, and you guessed it, my wife's plate was horrible. It looked as though she ordered the glazed salmon over corn and green bean soup. That is how bad her meal appeared. It was as though the cooks did not use drainage spoons when serving the dishes. I asked our server if she saw anything wrong with her plate and she said no. I then asked her to look closely and whether or not she would eat the meal as prepared.of course she said no. By the way, both meals were supposed to be served over a bed-of-rice. We received what amounts to a tablespoon of rice. The vegetables appeared to be prepared from a can, not fresh as advertised. I asked for a manager who apologized and offered to bring another plate. She did so and it was much better. The manger discounted the appetizer and my wife's meal, however, we did not feel as though she was genuine in her apology and appeared reluctant, probably more hesitant to make a quick decision. I must say our Cheddars experience at the 410 W and Killeen, TX location have always been positive. I had one bad experience that was so impressively handled that we became repeat customers. I can't say the same is true for the I-35 location in Selma. I would much rather drive 20 minutes to Fish City Grill for awesome margaritas, great atmosphere and good food. read more

When we arrived at the place, we told the hostess that our party had already been seated and gave the name. The person could not be bothered with helping us find our table and sent us wandering around looking for the others. For the next 10 minutes, we were treated like the Leper's of SA. Wait staff were buzzing all around us but no one was coming to greet us or take a drink order. One in our party went up to that oh so helpful hostess and was told someone would be with us. I even raised my hand to try and get someone's attention but was ignored by all the wait staff. The person in my party got back up to find a manager. Finally, someone is sent and she tells us they can't find the person who has our table so she would take our order. The rolls we ordered were half RAW and some at the table wouldn't eat them so we had to go and find our waitress to get chips and salsa - which wasn't delivered until the meal came. How long does it take to put salsa in a bowl with chips?! My salmon was extremely good but my "loaded" baked potato came with sour cream and a sprinkle of shredded cheese. Where's the loaded part?? It was too bland to even finish. Every table around us was constantly surrounded by their wait staff. The Leper's of SA saw our waitress 3 times. So disappointing and we were coming to celebrate a birthday. It leaves a sour taste in your mouth. read more

The staff was rude starting with the hostess who did not have the professional courtesy to look up and greet you as we stood at the podium. When she finally looked up, she said rudely follow me. The waitress was completely lost, after finally getting the order, she forgot to bring the drinks and appetizer. After bringing out our entrees and we reminded the waitress about our drinks and appetizer. She said do you want to get your appetizer to go. Additionally, she had to get our drink orders again because she forgot. This place is definitely off of our list. read more

Cheddar has awesome food. Huge platters to share with everyone at your table. Very nice waiters. Was fast and good. The restaurant was very clean and the ambiance was nice. Tended to get crowded as we were there during dinner hour. When we asked for check it came quickly and no waiting for waiter to come back with bill. read more

Will NOT go again!!!! I was so excited to try Cheddar's. The food on the menu looked so good and the prices were less than what I expected them to be. We placed our our order and were served our drinks. My son ordered tea. I saw him looking strangely at the bottom of the glass. He got a fork and pulled out a piece of glass. He new it couldn't be ice because it wasn't floating, it had sunk down the the bottom and was right next to the straw. Can you imagine if he would have used his straw to drink his tea when it was given to him. We usually don't examine our drinks. We told our waiter who was nice and told us he would get my son another drink. I suggested he changed our drinks at well (you would think I wouldn't have to suggest it myself). He came back with fresh drinks and said that he had told the manager and that they were going to melt the ice to see if there was anymore. He stated that glasses break in the back all the time and maybe a piece could have flown into the ice. Our food came (which was salty by the way). The waiter later came and told us that they did not find any other pieces. The manager NEVER came to talk to us. And they did not even give us a discount. I thought they wouldn't charge us at least for our drinks. It was like if they thought it was our fault. It was so RUDE of the manager to not speak to us. We weren't rude, mean or cause a big scandal. We know plates and glasses break often. We were just very upset that he/she did not bother with us. WE WILL NEVER GO BACK THERE AGAIN! OK - I always give a place a 2nd chance. I can now say this place needs to shape up. I went to lunch a couple of weeks ago and the food was mediocre, but the waitress was really nice. We decided to try it again today. We had to wait for a table at 2:30 in the afternoon. We were thinking it might have gotten better...NOT. After getting a table, we placed our order. We started with nachos. We waited and waited and waited, Finally the waitress brought us some bread and stated she did not know what was taking so long. She was no longer our waitress after that - a young lady brings the super nachos - no queso or hot sauce - cold and soggy. We asked for the things it was supposed to come with... and then our food showed up. The meal was bland. While we were there we heard 2 glasses break, one next to our table. No one was cleaning it up. There were people walking over it and I was afraid someone was going to get hurt. I asked a waitress to please clean it up. My overall rating -0-. They need cooks that know how to properly prepare and season food. The waitstaff was courteous and congenial but the food simply sucked, and if the food sucks so does the restaurant. Worst Cheddars ever! I came to this location years ago and the service was awful then. It was just four of us and the food took forever the drinks took forever. I love the one off i10 so it's not that Cheddars sucks it's just that this one does. I came here today not by choice btw my sister in law was having her birthday here and she chose this location which is closer to her home. Same deal everything took forever!! I complained to the manager and things only got worse. When we sent our niece to ask for the cake she went to the hostess who told her "ask your waitress". I was livid. Orders took forever to get to our table,drinks going empty. And no one would clear our table not even our waitress! The manager came with the cake and asked where should I put this. There was no room anywhere on our table since our waitress wouldn't clear it. She passed by several times and completely ignored us. When my friend asked for a drink the waitress asked her "what do you want?". The manager said he would get my information before we left and of course passed me like three times as I'm saying good bye to family and never once came to ask for it! He took $10 off my bill. Whoopdy doo! Idc if the waitress can't handle a large table sent a different one or more servers. The one on i10 is always way busier and the service is always better. Menu says steaks are u.s.d.a. Choice beef, but the ribeye was much too tuff to be choice I think this location may be using select grade beef. The first time I had a ribeye at this location it was fantastic it was grilled it was cooked right very flavorful and seasoned well. Steak tasted like it had been cooked in a skillet or a flat grill no flavor and very tuff unfortunately. read more

I have been twice now the first time we had a sweet waitress that was pregnant and we had to wait forever for refills on drinks, the food wasn't very hot, service was ok.... The second one was tonight, and the waitress we had was a little snob. She wouldn't take the empty plates, she never came back to fill our drinks, someone else came to bring us drinks then she would ask if we were ok after, really.?! It's not that hard I waitressed / cooked for 10 years! Then when she brought the bill instead of letting us take our time and enjoy our visit she hovered over us til we paid I found that really irritating and rude! Idk if she thought we were gonna dine and dash or what but while we were looking and reading the bill about the survey she kept asking if there was a problem then she went and got her manager who wanted to know if there was something wrong and we said no just that we had crap service and a waitress that didn't wanna do anything but hover over us after we got the bill instead of letting us enjoy the rest of our visit... Third and newest location in San Antonio just north of the Forum and Costco. If you know Cheddars, then you know them to have a large menu of very reasonably priced and good items. It's also why this place can be so busy even on a Wednesday night. Recommend exiting 35 at the Forum and following Frontage road up past Costco. Be careful where you turn in. The service lady was very nice but the food tasted like it was 3 days old. I ordered a garlic sirloin medium well done and it came chewy, dry, hard to bite. I've never tasted anything like it before. It was NOT tasty at all. The wedge salad came with brown, spots on the lettuce leaves like if they also kept it in the storage too long. I pay to receive fresh food. Something is seriously wrong with this location. It never fails, anytime that I go with my family, there is something wrong! Our waitresses/waiters are usually on their A game but their kitchen... they need some serious training! Orders come out wrong, over cooked, bring out wrong order, didn't make your meal according to the menu.. or it overall sucks! I kid you not, Every time I come to this location.. I am here for close to 3 hrs bc of the wait! Not waiting to be seated.. but waiting for food. I always try to give this location a new chance every time I attend, but it never fails. I ordered a steak with shrimp for my father (to go) as we we received our meals and after our meal.. we waited an additional 30 mins for that 1 meal. Once we received we were missing the shrimps and had the wrong side orders. I honestly don't believe that I should have to wait this long for the wrong order and still pay +$75. This was our first time here and we really liked it! It was recommended by a friend and glad we gave it a shot. I had the chicken tenders; the batter was light and had a lot of flavor. The waitress was super nice but the wait time to receive our drinks, food, and refills felt really long. Overall, the food was delicious and the prices were really affordable. read more

Worst service ever in a Cheddars! After telling manager her reply was, "I wish I knew!" Really, she never made herself available! 25 minutes for appetizers and 3 minutes later our main course...really, no apologies kiss my butt or anything. Service was slow every time the waiter left for something he took at least 5 minutes to come back even though each time he said he'd be right back. The queso was super watery I guess they were running low and needed to make it last so they added water to the pot. The chicken fried steak tasted like fish and was not edible... At Chedders are waiter Steven was very inactive towards are table. He forgot the ranch with the appetizer. Then he forgot an tea with our drinks and forgot to refill after quite a while. To continue he forgot to put in an order and we missed one of the main reasons we attended,the desert. Next, we were placed in an area were it was so loud and in please that it was hard to congregate with my family. To conclude, in my opinion we could have went to wataburger and recieved better service. We even confronted Steven about his mistakes and he did not make a move to satisfy us or at least help. I was looking forward to this restaurant. We waited for 5 minutes and were seated. The waitress was very friendly, served our drinks quickly and took our order. I was in the mood for a steak so I decided on the sirloin cooked medium, loaded baked potato and side of green beans. The order took at least 25 minutes but didn't mind as I was nursing a beer. When it arrived at the table, it was served by someone other than the waitress. What kind of service is it when the waiter hands you the hot dish rather than place it on the table in front of you? I found that really odd and of poor taste in service. I'd be afraid if he asked me if I wanted a bun...he might have tossed it at me. Anyway, I was disappointed when the steak arrived overcooked served medium-well. The loaded baked potato wasn't loaded at all...just cheese and sour cream. A loaded baked potato is sour cream, cheese, bacon bits and chives, etc. You could tell the green beans came directly from a can. The waitress came back and I asked her to remove this item from the check and take it back. I asked for another beer. Her service was very professional and I made sure to give here a good tip even though the food was disappointing. read more

And the only reason I give this place the one star was because it was mandatory. The waitress was inattentive to our table and also made sure to check on other people and NOT us. Not only did we wait 30 minutes after the cheese fries came out for her to order, but my steak was beyond well done (asked for medium well) and the food was extremely cold. We counted two tables receiving their food, dessert and tickets before us. I asked for a manager and told her how poor the service was. I wished I would've read the reviews first before going. The manager got our to go boxes and by the time they re did the steak, i was beyond ready to go. I told the manager that the waitress wasn't on her job as far as our table was concerned. She gave us Half off and I was sure to tell her I was a waitress too before and I know they work hard for tips and I believe in giving nice tips for nice service. Don't know if I will ever go back. It was the worst dinning out I have ever had. Slow to get a table, once seated takes forever to get served. Once food starts showing up is when the real lack of professionalism starts. Paper trash in the salad, grease and food on what is supposed to be clean plates, hair of different lengths and color from any of us at the table. From the minute we entered the door it was obvious the staff had decided we were not worth attending to. This was my fiancée's and my first visit to this location, but we have been to the NASA location on many occasions. We brought our daughter here for her first trip to Cheddars and from the minute we walked into the door we did not feel welcome. No one said "Hi" and the two hostesses looked at us as though we were "less". My first thought was, "you're a waitress... you want to judge me?" (Not very nice I know, but it was the feeling I had... and I could say so much more here... shouldn't matter how I look, as long as I'm decent. My money spends the same. "Sagging" (jeans) I find far more offensive than my daughter being in a T-shirt and Capri's. "Casual Cafe"? ... and lunch time at that?) We were seated. Still no smile (some young black lady [hostess], and a young pregnant or heavy set girl [also a hostess it appeared]. The former seated us.) We waited over 15 mins, saw another table seated (two women with BIG flowers on their chests) and their drinks served as we waited for anyone to acknowledge us. Finally, pressed for time and quite disappointed, we left. Embarrassed, that Cheddars was not the place we had touted it to be to our daughter. I walked to the hostess stand (as we left) and let them know I did not appreciate the lack of customer service and that we were not even asked what we'd like to drink, as watched the others around us. Incredibly, they did not even apologize. (The pregnant/heavy set hostess, a man I had hoped was a manager, but upon second thought I think he was a server, and whatever employee that wears a Cheddars T shirt... busboy, chef? I don't know. I was so disappointed. What I really can't get out of my head is "casual cafe" and lunchtime.... sorry we weren't "dressier", yet we were by no means under-dressed. Thank goodness the IHOP up the road were happy to see us. We spent the same $30+ there that we would have spent at Cheddars, over tipped our more than eager waiter who was happy to look after all of our needs attentively, as a waiter should. read more

We ate at this Cheddars last night and my husband was served frozen salmon and I had the Shephards Pie and was extremely sick all night. I felt fine before we went here to eat. We told the manager about the frozen salmon, but she really didn't seem to care. We were not comped or even offered any compensation for this entree. We will never eat here again. read more

My daughter and grand kids ate here on Monday 12/30/13. I can't say how disappointed I am. My family arrived before I did and I told the hostess I was meeting them there. Rather than try to help me locate them she just pointed and said maybe their over there. Not a good way to start my first experience. I've been waiting for a chance to go there since they opened and it will be my last trip. My daughter and myself both ordered the chicken fried chicken which we both love at other places but it was so overcooked that most of it was wasted. My grandson who is 12 and will eat most anything you put in front of him ordered the bacon cheese burger. It was so overcooked he wouldn't eat it. I guess the cook this evening was having a bed day. They weren't that busy so I expected everything to be good. Last trip and very disappointed. read more

I've been to Cheddars at the Selma location many times, mainly because my wife really likes the food and variety. The food and price is tough to beat, but my issue has always been the slow service. I've got to say that last night was a nice change. A young man by the name of Lucas waited on us. He was very polite and attentive. This was a nice change, and I hope it continues. read more

I've eaten at this location 3 times now... They've been great 2 out of 3 times. The famous "spasagna" and "alfredo spasagna" is always baked perfectly! Had chicken fried chicken and mashed taters the last two times I've been at this location and always have to ask for more gravy haha but nonetheless its pretty good! Their mac n cheese is heavenly! Their adult beverages are good and priced fairly well... Love the family atmosphere. Always come with a big crowd and we are always taken care of :D read more

I'm generally a fan of Cheddars since we have them in my hometown. This one, however, I'm not a fan. The food was to par with other Cheddars; it was the wait staff that I could not handle. I came into this Cheddars with a co-worker for lunch. I should have seen the signs as I observed the waiter at the table next to us putting on a production (which seemed to be unwelcomed) for the table. Our waitress, while friendly, was overly friendly and annoying. I do not come into a restaurant to chat with the waitstaff; especially when I am at a business lunch. My co-worker and I were chatting over lunch and the waitress continued to interrupt us with useless chatter. I guess it could have been worse and she could have ignored us...which may have been more pleasant. The food took quite a while to arrive, which was surprising (although we were 'fortunate' to have our waitress to chat with us while we waited). My sandwich was hot and tasty. I will avoid this Cheddars just so that I don't have to entertain a conversation with the staff. read more

I just left Cheddar's (I-35)about 30 minutes ago and I just had to come home and send this. Today my party and I had the worst server and managers. My mother was having a birthday lunch with her lady friends and it ended up being more about our server. From the time we sat down he started talking about how he is the best server and he is a master chef and he knows the menu front and back. He never stop talking. Then he told us his life story of where he is from (Baton Rouge, LA) then we meet his girlfriend it was just too much. He took our orders and that was fine, but when we got our food it went downhill from there. He gave 3 of us the wrong order, when we told him about the orders he blame the kitchen, telling us "I work with stupid people". One of the ladies order the lunch blacken catfish and he gave her salmon, so he took that back. When he came back to the table with a new plate he had the same thing (salmon), he blamed it on kitchen and "I work with stupid people". I have never heard a serve call his co-workers "stupid people". He also said his manager Michele (Michele Santana) knows what is going on; she never came to see how things were going. While waiting for the correct lunch to come out the manager Roger Herron just walk to our table and really didn't say anything, I guess he was checking to see if the correct plate came out. He really didn't say anything. By this time the rest of the ladies were done with our lunch. So the lady that still was missing her meal just told the server to make it to go. At this time I asked for a manger and never saw one. When the lady got her meal it was still wrong, her sides were wrong, all this an hour later. When we got our checks it went downhill again. Two ladies's had the wrong stuff on their tickets. He over charged two ladies and one lady he didn't give her back all her change($1.35), he told her that he rounded up and gave back $10.00 and she should have gotten back $11.35. I think that Elijah W. needs to be trained or he needs to find a job that he can blame everybody for his screw ups and talk all day. And, the managers need to be retained also. I feel bad for my mother, and her 6 friends all they were trying to do was have lunch with my mother on her birthday. This was the worst and I will not be going back. The sad part is the food is good. Now I have to find another place for my mother and her friends to go next week. read more
