First time my husband walked in this joint. We were warmly greeted upon arrival for dinner. It's a sports bar type of place so there is a little level of noise but not so loud where you can't carry on a conversation. The waitress explained the special of day which was $1 wings on Thursday and how you can have multiple sauces with your order. The area we sat in was clean and the waitress was attentive and refilled our beverages without asking. The pizza logs and the wings were my husband's favorite. The pizza logs looks like egg rolls but with pizza toppings fried and crunchy. Then the wings came out, hot and flavorful. They have a roll of paper towels for a reason. The saucy wings were extra saucy so plan to get your fingers dirty. i ordered the 5pc dry wing snack combo with potato wedges. My husband ordered 10pc wings, half spicy garlic parm and mango habanero with side of ranch and carrot sticks. Hubby and I decided to eat here for our Friday date night. Service was slow. Took over 15 minutes to get drinks. We ordered the loaded fries for an appetizer. Best ones I ever had. The strawberry daiquiri was weak. Very weak. For $11, I would have loved to taste some alcohol. Pizza was average. Pretty sad when Pizza Hut has better Pizza. Generous toppings, though. Hubby had a burger. He said it was dry and no seasoning, that Chili's was better. With tip we paid $98. Next morning, I was in the bathroom for a good hour. Won't return. I had to change my rating from a 5 to a 2 after tonight. We went for $1 wings since that's their special on Thursdays. Today we were charged for two combos and when we asked why, we were told it's because we asked for extra sauce and flats only. I understand that, but nowhere is this advertised and in the past, we were only charged extra for those accommodations. In addition, their spring menu has a new sauce (peach grimmer) advertised and it says we can ask for a sample. So we did, and were then told they don't offer samples and we would have to pay for it. My friend group and I meet here regularly for trivia and to catch up. We keep coming back because the service is excellent. And the people are very friendly. They've gotten to know us a little and everyone comes by to say hi when we're in there. The food is good. Everything you'd expect for a sports bar and restaurant. I love their wings. read more

The wedges were also very yummy. I would've liked more jalapeños, it was a little skimpy. The service at the bar was good! The ladies were nice, and didn't try to force conversation but entertained convo when we struck one up. Wings are huge and the burger quality was excellent! Wish the fries were a little better but they were still ok. A lot of the servers seemed new and like they were still learning the ropes, but we don't have any complaints about it. There were several screens to watch tv and videos, but only if you're facing a particular area. My husband and I usually go to the Anchor Bar off 1604 but we were in the Schertz area and decided to stop in. It was a night and day contrast from the other location. Bartender/waitstaff seemed frazzled, unfriendly, and uninterested. They do have a great happy hour special Monday through Wednesday 3-6pm. Buy 10 bone in wings and get 10 free. The wings were good, no complaints there. Drink prices were more than reasonable. Again no complaints on the food or drinks but didn't feel welcome and got out of there soon after eating. The last reason for the two stars was there was no AC on and working. It was so hot in there. It's Texas in late June the AC should be working and pumping out cold air. I asked the waitress what was going on with the AC. She shrugged gave me a dirty look and walked away. No worries we won't be back. read more

The menu had a nice selection of wings, pizza, burgers, etc. We love wings and we're impressed by the variety of sauces and rubs. The snack size is 5 wings and a perfect amount for me. I prefer a saucy Parmesan garlic then a dry rub. I'm glad I tried the Honey Sriracha and it was delicious. The kid's menu is a great deal at $6.99 that includes a soft drink. The kids got a 4 piece chicken wings. They offer indoor and outdoor seating. It is a bar so expect a loud atmosphere with many people drinking. The service was okay. Checked out the new location in Schertz and it was packed. So packed it took 30 minutes before we had someone check on us after we sat down but once Tum Tum took our order, the service was phenomenal. Very pleasant and personable. Highly recommend asking for her. Big screen TVs everywhere to catch any game you want so be prepared for it to be a little noisy. Very clean establishment. Can't go wrong with their wings. So I'll be blunt.... I'm only leaving 5 stars based upon previous experiences at this (NEW) location. All previous visits occurred during colder or cooler months of the year or at the location before the business moved just down the road. South Texas is starting to get a lot warmer now, and the heat inside this place from the westward sun is to the point of unbearable. I spend most of my discretionary time here, but have decided I will find another place until something is done to fix the problem. I choose to go to establishments for a good time, not to sweat. We have been going to Anchor Bar since they opened a few years ago. They recently moved down the street where Pizza Hut was and Pizza Hut moved where Anchor Bar was. I like the new location better. They were very crowded yesterday and not well organized. Everyone at our table had the wrong order. We had to ask each other what we ordered. Other than that the food tasted what we expected. My daughters and my grandchildren stopped here for lunch. This location is quite a bit smaller than their location off of 1604. Plenty of TV's on the walls, this would be a great location to watch your favorite team. Our server was very attentive making sure we had everything we needed. We started out with the Texas Queso and it was pretty good. I really enjoyed the tri colored chips that it came with. I had the anchor bar bites tossed in a honey sriracha sauce. I had never had that before and it was quite tasty. I also had ranch dressing as my dipping sauce. My beautiful granddaughter highly recommends dipping everything into the ranch dressing, baked chicken tenders, French fries even just bare fingers. She is a ranch dressing aficionado. My grandson is only 3 months old and he slept the whole time, so I think he just felt it was a great place to catch some zzzzs. I'm sure we'll all be back again. read more

Although I was able to join the waitlist when we walked in and told them we were on it they looked at us weird and said they don't take reservations even though whoever is answering for the place on here says they do take reservations. The two people in our party that ordered food said it was good and my wife snagged a fried pickle from their appetizer and said it was really good and she's quite the fried pickle connoisseur. Normally, I have a good experience at the Anchor Bar & Grill in Schertz but, not today!! Went here for dinner April 2nd (Sunday), the place was active but not too crowded. One of the people in our group of 3 is hyper sensitive to ambient noise. We asked to sit on the patio and were told only the bar was available even though there were open tables on the patio throughout our entire visit. Between the three of us we ordered a Cobb Salad, Patty Melt & Pizza Logs. The food took an exceedingly long time to come, so much so, I had to ask where our order was. This was after the couple next to us came in had and appetizer & drinks and left before I was wonder what happed to our order. The food finally came. The Cobb Salad was warm with wilted lettuce cut in large pieces. We had to asked for a fork to which the guy, who served our order and looked more like the dishwasher, had a Deer In the Headlights look as to why we might need a fork for the salad. Since I was nearly done with my beer waiting for our food to come, when it did, I ordered a second beer. The waitress behind the bar eventually forgot the 2nd beer until I reminded her. It would have appeared, the Anchor Bar may have been short staffed this evening. It doesn't explain the slow kitchen, inattentive waitress or, the general lack of Customer Service. Remember the couple who gad an appetizer earlier? The next couple who took their place had to tell the waitress to clear the dirty plates while they were placing their order. As I said, what is normally a good experience was simply not the case tonight. Final note: I typically give a 20% gratuity, tonight I gave 15%. My friend said I was being generous. read more

It wasn't packed for a Saturday afternoon but they did seat us back to back with other tables before capacity was supposed to be opened up to 100% so that was a bummer. Well I waited until today to write this. Last night my wife and I went to their new location and it's is looking nice. However, the quality of food has drastically went down! I ordered 1/2 order of loaded fries and buy the time they were on the table, they were cold! My wings barely had any garlic/parmesan and the fried chicken blue cranberry salad came out as a grilled cranberry salad with very few candied pecans. We were really disappointed. Sad that I did not enjoy Anchor Bar. I will say, I read some reviews about them not adhering to Covid guidelines, and they must have changed since then. They did temperature checks for all guests, tables were very spread out and masks required! Some of the best I have seen at a restaurant the past year. Some positives: the music playlist was the bomb, really loved that. The boneless wings on my meal were good, and I would return for that! My husband got the Buffalo chicken wrap, which he said we alright, but he would try something else if we went again. Some not positives: I love Mac and cheese and was not a fan of theres at all, just not my type.
