I went for the first time about a year ago and it is my husband's and I'd new favorite bar! We literally go all the time for Happy Hour, which is the absolute BEST. EVERYDAY, 1-8! And the draft beers on HH are like $2 and wells are $3.50. Plus the bartenders are SOOOO nice. They always make food and just love to get to know you! Nina is amazing and makes the BEST margaritas. Plus once she knows you she'll make your drinks the second she sees you and won't ever let you sit with an empty glass for long! The bar manager and bartender Makayla is so nice and is always planning cool events for the bar! Astrid is so fun and such a vibe! We even watched a Spurs game here and it was SUCH a vibe! So don't be scared! Come try it out and make some new friends. Just don't tell too many people or it'll get too busy!

Well my friends a few miles outside of the San Antonio city limits you'll find your cowboy Mecca with the Hanging Tree Saloon. It feels like you stepped back in time when you enter the swinging doors. Cigarette smoke lingering in the air with an old-school jukebox playing country music from the last 50 years will greet you. It is a beer and wine only establishment but they do have set ups if you choose to bring your own liquor. Drinks are cheap and there's no AC so it gets hot but after a few drinks you won't notice or care. Get here by car, motorcycle, or your horse (yep they have a hitching post) but just make sure you get here!

We may have to go sometime when there's a food truck, but the drinks were great. The ambience was perfect since we are kind of antisocial and hate crowds. We had a great time throwing for an hour and playing all the fun games with Jason as our referee/scorekeeper. After we finished our hour, we played pool. There were also some arcade games and I think cornhole outside. We definitely can't wait to come back with some friends and even our friends who have kids since there is plenty to do. We made a reservation, but Jason said we don't always need a reservation, even on weekends when they're busier. I loved how specific Jason was with his safety briefing and how he was very patient, showing us each (20 in our party) of us how to hold, stand, and throw the axe. They have a bar and non-alcoholiic drinks available. Today, they did not have a food truck, so we were able to bring in cake and some snacks. Usually, there is a food truck to get snacks from. They also had some snacks at the bar. What impressed me the most was that this couple is honoring God in their business by having a prayer wall! We are able to write prayers on tags to hang and have people pray. The back patio had a fire pit and lounge chairs. I believe they said that you can play washers and corn hole and well. It was chilly the night we went, and they had heaters on the patio. Side note...bathrooms were clean and neat.

I didn't see an open sign clearly posted anywhere but regardless, you should follow the hours posted on your establishment and whatever website you advertise on. Zuehl Tavern: Quaint, Charming, Peaceful and Nice. Also.. A little over-priced, less than friendly…read more(at least to "outsiders") and lacking in personal warmth and humility. While searching for a short motorcycle route, just outside of San Antonio, I found what appeared to be an interestingly cool and nostalgic destination, the Zuehl Tavern. Located just 15 minutes southeast of Universal City, it looked like my kind of place. My first impression: I arrived around 6 pm. on a Saturday evening and the place looked deserted, I anticipated it might be closed, but to my relief, they were in fact open. The interior, exterior, and overall ambiance was just as I had hoped.. this place was wonderful; the kind of place I could bring my wife and the girls. That was my initial consideration.. I had found a true gem in the countryside. What happened next: The bartender, a heavy-set middle-aged lady asked for my order. She was courteous, but not very warm and welcoming. I tried making conversation but she was either very busy (I was the only patron) or just didn't much care for my type (an outsider in a small town), I considered it the latter and took no offence. I asked for a margarita and she quickly filled my request. A few minutes later, I asked if they had a menu. She then grabbed a very small menu (artfully crafted on a dinner platter) and placed in my view next to the bar. She then returned to the bar and asked for my order. I won't say she was rude about it, but her manner was somewhat less than polite. As the menu was very limited, and with no pricing, I ordered the brisket stuffed baked potato and went outside to look over the perimeter and make myself comfortable. Notwithstanding the semi-cold interactions with the bartender and some other guy (the cook?), who never so much as said hello, I was content with the laid back, peaceful serenity of this establishment. Food and Beverage: Neither was anything to write home about. The margarita was okay, but it was served in a plastic cup and she never even offered to salt the rim. The stuffed potato was good, mostly, but I could do better myself any day. I would rate it better than Bill Millers, and not as good as Chili's. I'm thinking it was baked in advance, then modified to match my order and re-heated.. it was barely warm. Parting ways: I finished my meal and went to the bar to take care of my bill. The bartender gave me the total due and took my credit card. She processed the transaction and asked if I would like the receipt emailed or texted (seems they don't provide on-site receipts). My tab for a stuffed potato and 1 Margarita was just short of $23 before tip. Overall Consideration: It's nice, very nice, if you're into nostalgia and country charm. The staff however, are definitely not from Mayberry.. For what it is, the food and drinks are okay but only just. Will I go back? I don't know.
