No stars. Went to Pasadena location and the appetizer we order was cheese bites had about 7 of them with no cheese just the crust. Got my entree which was tilapia with shrimp and garlic sauce think it had about a teaspoon of sauce and the shrimp looked sick. My broccoli looked old and now I remember why I haven't been at this location in a while. HANDS DOWN the best buttered croissants! We were initially disappointed because our waiter told us that the kitchen ran out of them for about an hour. We went on to order our main courses. The BAE ordered lunch portion salmon with two sides (baked potato and corn). The baked potato was oh so delicious. The cheese melted along with the sour cream; coating the starch perfectly. The corn was sweet and buttery. The portion of the salmon was smaller than another Cheddar's that we frequent to, so my boyfriend wasn't really full after devouring everything. The salmon was cooked on point though! (7/10) I ordered the tilapia and shrimp which comes with two sides (french fries plus corn) and rice. The fish and shrimp were blackened with mango salsa sprinkled on top. The entree wasn't salty which is something I worry about when going to American restaurants. (8/10) We overheard a worker talking to one of the customers about a new batch of croissants coming out in about 15 minutes. We looked for our waiter immediately and requested an order. He was SUPER nice and said he will check with the kitchen. A few minutes later, he brought out one croissant. He declared that was the LAST ONE at the moment. However, they are making more and he can bring us an order if we can wait for another 15 minutes. We gladly decided to linger around longer just for some more of those bad boys! The order finally came out and that hit the spot for us! No dessert is needed. Trust me you will fall in love with those croissants!!! The place was very crowded on a Saturday evening. You will most likely need to wait. If you can find a table at the bar then you can skip the line. We LOVE the customer service we've experienced with our waiter. The only good thing about my meal was the appetizer and the garlic bread that came with my New Orleans Pasta. The pasta was OBVIOUSLY reheated which lowered the quality of the food. Plus, the shrimp was poorly seasoned and just overall did not taste good. It was definitely not worth the $13. The Monte Cristo my mother shared with me was just okay. When we got here service was very low energy. Server admitted she was ready to go. Me and my boyfriend ordered nachos (appetizer), and pasta & steak (dinner). Appetizer took too long to come out and it was the first thing we ordered. The soup and salad that I ordered with my steak came out before the appetizer. Then after a while the nachos came out some of the tortilla chips were burnt. NACHOS DID NOT HAVE BEANS, CORN OR BBQ/RANCH DRIZZLE. Then after a little while longer the entrees came out. We came here for dinner because my husband suggested it. I've been here two times previously and was both unimpressed and disappointed with my food and especially the horrible service. Today was the third try. We were seated promptly and we're met by our waited Zach who was prompt in brining us our drinks and Honey Butter Croissants (which were devoured by the 4-year old). The girls ordered kids meals: hamburger patty with cheese and a side of fries, and grilled chicken with broccoli and corn on the cob. I ordered the Tilapia and Shrimp with Mango Salsa, and my husband ordered a combo of steak and ribs. Our food was brought out super fast! The fasted ever for us. My daughters burger patty had no cheese, but that was fixed in 5 minutes. My tilapia was delicious! I devoured that! The mango salsa was awesome, I almost wish the tilapia was smothered in it. Oh so good. My husband lamented the end of his steak and ribs, and both girls enjoyed their food. Overall today was a completely different experience from the previous 2 dinners here. I would give this a 5 star review, but when they added cheese to her patty they reheated it and overcooked it. However, I plan to come back and they their food/service again. Good food, poor service. Drinks a little weak well they are very weak. Note to self always ask for a shot. I tried 2 separate drinks both had great flavor minus the alcohol. Great for those that refrain from alcohol consumption. The waitress was typical, until I requested my drink be sent back a Bacardi Bellini. Which included 3 liqueurs on the menu but not one in the drink. The Waitress's attitude soured after returning the drink. I attempted another a pin a colda. Which was equally as light on the liquor. I received the bill which included both drinks. Upon inquiry the waitress asked was I sure that I wanted the bellini removed....um duh when I asked was that's a standard operating procedure Concerning billing she proceeded to roll eye a day just total made any thought of leaving a tip dissipate. Since it opened, every time I've driven by this place there's been a line out the door. I'm not much for waiting in line, but we did drive by on a Saturday afternoon (7/7/2012) and it wasn't as crowded as usual, so we stopped. The hostess was professional and polite and seated us promptly. On the waitress's recommendation, my companion had the New Orleans Pasta and I had the Lemon Pepper Chicken. We received our meals after a 30 minute wait. The New Orleans Pasta tasted like mac-n-cheese and the Lemon pepper chicken was dry, but edible. The food quantity was adequate, the staff was professional and pleasant, and the restaurant's décor was inviting. The food quality, however, was disappointing. Considering how often this place is packed, I expected better. I'll give Cheddars a second chance...but I won't wait in line on the possibility of having subpar food. read more

Server was real nice but not that attentive. Left without getting a Togo box because took long. Server told me what was on tap so I ordered the seasonal beer. I was brought a Sam Adams so I told him I didn't drink that and before I could ask what else they had, "Steven" the manager, gave us a smart remark about how they didn't have the beer I asked for even though the server offered it. I've been to this Cheddar's multiple times and every time the service is great and the restaurant is clean. Now the food is always hit or miss. I either love it or completely hate it. For example, chicken tender platter is AMAZING it is always on point and delicious but grilled shrimp with rice is always atrocious. The shrimp seems oily-ish and is just of poor taste and the rice that comes with it was even worse. I lost my appetite halfway ( I tried it more than once to give it a chance but it failed every time.) I just want to order what I'm craving without having to worry about it being a 50/50 chance of me loving my dinner or hating it. read more

Service has been iffy on several occasions. However, last Friday we decided to try again for lunch. We sat at our table for quite awhile before someone asked if our drink order had been taken. We placed our drink order and said we were ready to order our food also. The waitress pointed to another waitress at the table behind us and told us that was actually our waitress and she would take our food order shortly. She took the order at the table behind us then disappeared. She came back several minutes later with two salads. She placed one on the table behind us (where she had just taken their order), and was placing one on the table behind them. The man at the table behind us removed the salad dressing from the salad (it's in a small porcelain bowl), and started to get the salad ready when the waitress realized she had mixed up the salads. She took the salad that the man had touched and gave it to the other table. That gave me the heebie jeebies. He'd had his fingers in that salad! She then, finally, came to our table. Since it had been over 15 minutes since we sat down and we were on our lunch hour, and we'd just been grossed out, we told her to cancel our drink orders (which we still hadn't gotten) and that we had to leave. Management really needs to get control of the servers at this restaurant. read more

Went here after church. Had to wait about 20 min to be seated. Not bad considering the after church crowd. While I was waiting, I went to the men's room and was impressed with how clean it was, being that the restaurant was so crowded. Anyway, we were seated and quickly greeted by our waitress. My wife ordered a Maui margarita, which was delicious. I know because I must have sipped half of it (sorry hun). When I ordered my drink our waitress looked at me and asked for my ID. She then smiled and said just kidding. Most people probably would've been annoyed by this, but I found it amusing. Anyway, I ordered a spicy mango mojito, which was also terrifically tasty (I drank this all by myself even though my wife tried to steal a sip, again sorry hun). The food was great too. My wife had the tilapia and I had the steak and ribs. Both were cooked to perfection and undoubtedly delicious. Not many good places to eat in Pasadena, so this place is almost always packed - expect to wait 15 minutes to hour since they don't take reservations. As many have noted, they have a very diverse menu, so everyone should be able to find something they like from steak to a sandwich - shoot, I wouldn't be surprised if they had a steak sandwich. My wife enjoyed a chicken pot pie while I had a hankering for fried catfish - delish! We sat at the bar and enjoyed conversing with the very busy bartender, who made our second round of drinks a bit too strong - but hey, I think she was just trying to do us a favor. The food was OK, but I'm not a fan of waiting for a table. We will likely be back, we will just watch the crowded parking lot and pick our time. read more

The first time we went to Cheddar's I really enjoyed the chicken fried steak and my wife really liked the club sandwich. Unfortunately the second time was not so great. We brought our 13 year old and I ordered the fried shrimp which was ok. My wife's chicken alfredo pasta on the other hand was pretty bad. The chicken was dry, the pasta was overcooked and the sauce was a gummy, flavorless, mess. My kid's Spasanga was way, way too cheesy, otherwise it would have been ok. The 'garlic' bread that her and my wife had was flavorless. The salads that all three of us had were actually spectacular. They didn't charge us for my wife's pasta dish and I appreciate it. The food was very underwhelming to say the least. We probably won't return ever. read more
