Our server was really great. The food is always good. I like the queso fries but with melted shredded cheese (the way they used to make them). I don't like queso at all, so I'm really glad and thankful that they can still prepare them the way they used to because they're delicious. I love the fish tanks, live plants, and giant fans.

I will start by saying our server was fine. She was nice, checked on us and did everything a good server should do. The restaurant itself was clean and had a layback energy to it. But the food...not so much. The onion rings were legit, nicely fried and a sweet onion. Really didn't need any dipping sauce for them. Our monte cristo sandwiches were lame. The sandwiches should have both ham and turkey, ours was just ham. The cheese was just. Kraft single, you would expect a better quality cheese from a restaurant. Fries were over cooked and hard. Haven't had Cheddar's for years and the quality has definitely gone down since my previous experience. Doubt I go back anytime soon.

Mixed feelings... Key West Chicken and Shrimp and cooked carrots were really good and the croissants were fantastic, but the coleslaw was flavorless. The restaurant was freezing and our waitress didn't want to be there.

Much better experience this time around. Dijon chicken was delicious and cooked very well. Side salad and croissants very good as well. Coleslaw shouldn't be served - absolutely no taste. Service was average.

If you're craving a meal that warms your soul (but may not chase away your goosebumps), this is the spot. I ordered the grilled bourbon-glazed salmon over rice, paired with green beans and sweet carrots -- so tasty it almost made me forget I was dining in a restaurant equivalent to a walk-in freezer. My husband ordered the Louisiana pasta, and we both enjoyed the warm, buttery croissants. The food was delicious, but the room temperature? Let's just say that while it was hotter than the devil's armpit outside, the south side of the restaurant could have doubled as a penguin habitat. Next time, I'll bring my winter coat--or maybe a space heater. Still, if you like your food hot and your dining room cold, this is the place.

Our waiter, Kayla was awesome! Funny, responsive and very attentive! I have to give to anyone who keeps my Coke Zero full! We love the fish tank! The restaurant was busy, but we had great seating! The cheddar bites were rather oily/greasy, so I skipped that. The rest of our crew enjoyed them. The complementary croissants are always a hit!

This restaurant has been around for awhile. This is my first time here. Not quite sure what to expect. Menu not too extensive. More home style comfort food on the menu. Pricing very reasonable. Decided to order their grill salmon dinner. Food was good. Waitress we had was attentive but just seem a little too attentive almost like she was rushing us out. I water refill. Ambiance was casual. Overall it a good reasonable place to go for a quick bite. Nothing too spectacular.

I am still genuinely befuddled at this Friday night dinner experience…read more I came in for a celebratory Hurricane since I'd heard these were great (and we loved their cocktails the last time) and a bite. The place was pretty empty which was unusual; the last time we came in I think was in December and it was slammed! It turns out they aren't serving alcohol right now (apparently an ownership change? I didn't get the full scoop) so that was the first let-down. So fine - I'll just have a bowl of the gumbo. For $29?! And some biscuits. The gumbo comes out in a cracked bowl with a cracked plate underneath and the 3 little crawfish on top are refrigerator cold. Granted, the actual gumbo was pretty solid with the right amount of heft and spice and depth, but even then the rice had some hard pieces in it like it was old. The biscuits aren't anything to write home about and the butter is just meh. I wouldn't spend my carbs there. On top of all that, the waitress literally couldn't be bothered that I existed. I had to pry to get a drink menu (which is when I found out they weren't serving any), I couldn't get any eye contact from her or any kind of friendliness, she asked me if I wanted them to "heat it up" when I told her about the crawfish, and then brought my bill when I hadn't even finished dinner without bothering to ask if I wanted any dessert. And on top of that, there was no mention at all about the dinner issues or any apology whatsoever. I don't need or want a meal comped but for over $40 for a bowl of gumbo and some biscuits (+ tax, tip, etc) I at least expect some acknowledgement or "hey, here's something nice we can do for you". We really enjoyed the last time we were here and this was a genuinely jarring experience compared to that. The place looks pretty rough right now - maybe this is one of those places that has the right vibe in the dark, but nothing felt right about it today, and I'm afraid I can't (won't) recommend it again.

Stepping inside is like stepping straight into 1990--clean, nostalgic, and completely frozen in time. We kicked off with the traditional, complimentary family-style spread: ham and beans, hush puppies, and coleslaw. I'm not a big beans-and-slaw guy, but they nailed the traditional flavor profile for anyone who is. The hush puppies, however, were a total Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Dry--half of them were perfectly moist with a crisp shell, while the rest felt ready to turn to dust in the wind. I went non-traditional and reeled in the Hunter's Special: rotisserie duck (leg and thigh), fried quail, and a jumbo frog leg with mashed potatoes and gravy. The taters and gravy were easily the most comforting part of the meal. All the meats delivered good flavor, though It was like biting into you an oil slick. The fried quail was the standout catch of the day for me--I'm one of those people who eats the bones, so aside from the heavy grease, I was in crunch heaven. One highlight of the plate was trying the Gunslinger hot sauce, which delivered the fiery flame I was looking for. Service was the biggest snag of the night. My friend mentioned the staff is usually exceptionally friendly, but our server gave off pure robot energy--strictly matter-of-fact with zero charisma. The ultimate cringe moment was watching her grab our drink glasses from the top like an arcade claw machine, completely crushing my friend's straw in the process. The food made it to the table, but human warmth was entirely off the menu. Come for the rustic nostalgia, the crunchy quail, and the Gunslinger sauce--just hope for a server with a bit more soul.

I would probably try it without octopus next time. My waiter suggested using the premade lime mixture to cut the fishy taste and it worked perfectly and I also tried the habanero lime mixture. That's on the table and that tastes good as well it cut the fishiness. -Ceviche tostadas no carrots and light cilantro no (btw this is the Pacifico one): probably the best ceviche I've had and I added the habanero purée and it was perfection.

So, we were driving around in Overland Park and saw a Slim's Chicken. We hoped it was the same brand as we had in Arkansas. Turns out it was the same. The chicken strips were delicious. Hot, tender, good size and very juicy. Also, for the price, got a 4-piece strips meal, for less than $10 got a lot of food. Meal included Texas toast, generous serving of fries and a drink. They also, have over a dozen dipping sauces to pick from. It is almost overwhelming to select a sauce. There is another major chicken fast food chain, whose chicken tenders we use as the comparison point. Didn't think it was possible, however these are better. Now, with that said, and looking at some of the other reviews comments I do have to say that the disposition of the service folks could take some lessons from this other chicken fast food chain. It was okay service; however given the overall taste and value of the chain I would now put this as my preference for the best chicken tenders that I have had. The service differences are not enough to drive me to the other chain. One other thing. They do have chicken wings. I got one to give it a try. It was okay and I would say expensive for what you get. So, none of their chicken wings for me. Stay with the tenders. My rating is only based on the chicken tenders, not the wings.

Seriously, it didn't taste like they put any sugar in there. The staff is friendly and helpful. My visit today was specifically to try the new Nashville Hot Sandwich. Let me tell you, it lives up to its name! That sandwich is crazy hot! If you like your tongue and lips to feel like they are being burnt off have at it! I ordered the slaw on the side as it is mayo based and wasn't sure I would like it but I wish I had had more.
