2 piece dark meat fried chicken with mashed potatoes

This is a locally owned go to for us. Having been raised eating catfish I was happy to find this gem in a city. The staff are friendly and helpful. The atmosphere is outdoorsman eclectic. (Think 80s bass pro) There are many menu options to choose from, some of which are all you can eat. When seated you are brought out pass arounds of endless white beans, coleslaw, and hushpuppies. Tonight I had the 3 piece catfish with mashed potatoes. My husband had the 2 piece dark meat chicken with mashed potatoes. I ordered hot tea which came out in this cute little teapot. For dessert we had their delicious peach cobbler with icecream. Next time you're in Olathe or Lee's Summit be sure to check them out.

The crab and fried catfish here are truly the best in the area! The service and staff are outstanding! I absolutely adore this place and the atmosphere it offers.

Food and service always good. You're served all you want, free beans and ham and Cole slaw. They have a salad bar.

To have this exquisite sanctuary within mere walking distance of our front door feels like discovering a secret coordinate on an old traveler's map. It is a place that exerts an irresistible pull, anchoring itself as the absolute perfect destination for an intimate, romantic date night or a lively, laughter-filled evening meeting up with friends. There is a brilliant, transportive alchemy at work here, transforming a casual stroll through our neighborhood into a deliberate departure from the ordinary, where the modern world gently recedes into the background. The atmosphere is utterly on point, evoking the hauntingly beautiful, slow-burning elegance of a French colonial-era brasserie tucked away in the humid heart of Southeast Asia. There is a distinct, poetic nod to the writing of Joseph Conrad within these walls--a deliberate, masterful play of light and shadow that makes the space feel alive with a quiet, brooding mystery. It feels as though you have stepped off a river steamer and into a candlelit haven of rich textures, whirring fans, and lush greenery, where the air is thick with romance and the intoxicating charm of another era. Whether you are seated inside amidst the intimate, atmospheric glow or outside on the terrace watching the twilight deepen like the slow approach of a great, untamed evening sky, the setting holds you completely spellbound. The culinary journey matches this evocative allure step for step, navigating the menu with the flawless precision of an experienced captain. Having explored nearly every offering they have to craft, I can say with absolute certainty that the kitchen never misses its mark. Each dish arrives as a beautiful revelation, a sharp contrast of vibrant flavors and impeccable execution that satisfies something primal and deep within the palate. Penny's doesn't just serve a meal; they curate an experience that lingers in the memory long after the final plates are cleared. It is a rare, magnificent gem that brings a profound touch of old-world, literary magic right to the heart of Prairie Village, and we find ourselves endlessly drawn back to its extraordinary shores.

Guess what if you have a place which serves Mexican seafood go try something like this. This place specializes in seafood in Mexican cuisine perhaps this is the second location there's another location in the downtown, which we have been to, but let's get to how we like this place Food I would say was not amazing but good we didn't like the paella the rice was mushy. It was smelling different because of the clams and oysters that was definitely not fresh. We didn't smell a lot of saffron added to the food the crab meat queso was amazing and we also ordered another Spanish or Mexican shrimp with spicy sauce. That was amazing. The margarita was great.. There was literally one person available in the restaurant who was taking care of the bells bar food any requests coming? We felt a little bad that she didn't have a lot of help but she was super awesome. Very sweet. Took care of us like anything running around everywhere gave a huge tip to her. My waiter was Kara she let me know upfront she had not been working here that long, but she also was pretty knowledgeable and when she didn't know something, she found the answer for me. She was great at helping me find options and she was really nice. Drink: I love that their drinks weren't pre-made I got a ready fire aim with rum (bellows) instead of mezcal and it was really good. Perfect hint of spice and sweetness. The water was really nasty though. Food: Everything is made to order and customizable which is rare. -(6) Grilled chili butter oysters my favorite very great flavor -(6) Grilled Stuffed Oysters this was very different but still good I was nervous about the octopus idk of if I necessarily taste it was a fishy flavor but still great to try. I would probably try it without octopus next time. My waiter suggested using the premade lime mixture to cut the fishy taste and it worked perfectly and I also tried the habanero lime mixture. That's on the table and that tastes good as well it cut the fishiness. -Ceviche tostadas no carrots and light cilantro no (btw this is the Pacifico one): probably the best ceviche I've had and I added the habanero purée and it was perfection.

We hit the club for brunch with a group, and while the ambiance was pure "Country Club Chic," the execution was a bit more "Sunday Morning Sand Trap." The Liquid Courage I started off my round with two drinks. the Bloody Mary. It was fine--tasty enough, but it certainly didn't change my life or inspire any poetry. However, things got interesting with their Tequila/Cold Brew/Liquor 43 concoction. Topped with an egg foam cap, it was actually pretty solid. A bit of a gamble, but sometimes you have to roll the dice when the menu is trying that hard. The Culinary "Hit and Miss" Then came the food, or as I like to call it: The Great Consistency Crisis. The Steak: I asked for medium-rare; I received medium-well with a "char" that felt more like a personal vendetta against the cow. The Potatoes: Apparently, potato portions are determined by a lottery system. I received about half the amount of the person next to me. Maybe I didn't look hungry enough? The Eggs: My over-easy eggs had crispy, hard edges and arrived at a temperature I'd describe as "lukewarm at best." We also had to hunt down salt and pepper like we were on a scavenger hunt. Honestly, I probably should have just hit the buffet and cut out the middleman. The Service Our server was perfectly nice, but he appeared to be roughly twelve years old. Since he wasn't legally old enough to understand the complexity of a craft cocktail, he couldn't give us any info on the drink menu. We just had to "go with our gut"--which is a dangerous game when tequila and cold brew are involved. The Verdict I'm not saying I won't be back, but consider this a fair warning: if Round 2 involves another charred steak and a side of "room temperature" eggs, I'll be sending it back for a rerun faster than a shanked drive into the woods. 3/5 Stars -- Great for people-watching, questionable for potato-equity.
