I loved the Keylime layer that was only in the very middle. I wish there had been another Keylime layer on the bottom. It was whipped cream, graham crackers, Keylime, graham crackers, whipped cream. For this price I could have gotten a way better Meal. Whatever all good. I ask for Ketchup because my sandwich came with Frys I get one packet from the guy ask more more. He throws a fit. The manager comes up and Tells Me if I was sauce they charge extra for that. I don't think she knew I was even talking about ketchup but she was really rude. I have been to this location several times as it is down the street from my house. I love that menu options include fried and grilled chicken tenders. Their fries are seasoned and sometimes can be a little too salty. I recommend the buffalo chicken wrap with the grilled tenders. They have a large selection of drinks as well. There was no one in front of me in the drive-through, yet I still had to wait quite a while for my food. That actually made me think it was being made fresh. There's nothing worse than spending your hard-earned money on food that tastes like it's been sitting around. After waiting that long, I expected much better quality. I recently ordered Doordash from Slim Chickens and was a bit disappointed. I've only tried Slim Chickens once before and was pleased but this time, the food was just not great. I got the chicks meal and didn't realize how small the tenders were! They were only the size of a small fry and they were very dry. I would go for a chicken sandwich next time. I also ordered a drink that came with the meal but sadly did not get one. I contacted our driver and she said that they never gave her one in the first place. I thought the experience we had was good but there are a few things that would make it great. 1. Environment: The place was clean, spacious and pleasant! They had extra syrup and ketchup in bottles available. To take it up a notch, they could get a dispenser that kept the syrup warm. Drink selection was good. Pepsi products. 2. Service. They were friendly! Greeted us when we came in and as we were leaving. We ordered through the app and dined in. The server gave us the wrong cup size. By the way, the large drink is in a sturdy plastic cup. I wish they eould move to paper...I digress, the server pleasantly fixed his mistake. 3. The food. I thought it was good. Other people have commented negatively on the fries but I thought they were tasty. The strips were good tasting, however, a bit on the small side. Seriously, they were long but they were all very slim which made me feel like they were not the best value. Other people have commented that their food was not the hottest. Ours was just warm enough but I would have liked it hotter. If we would have taken it home and warmed everything up in the air fryer, this review would have been a five. The waffle was large and fluffy. And while not hot to the touch, was crisp on the outside and still warm on the inside. Another way to elevate this restaurant would be to serve all the sauces that they serve on the side warm. I really liked the menu...right now they are featuring a strawberry/chicken salad I would like to try as well as some wraps. The jar desserts are pricey but they look good, I think I'll try those on my next visit. And the fried pickles... And the mac & cheese... So to summarize, I really like this restaurant and I want to love it. I hope management is reading the reviews and seeing the themes. Slims is a favorite go to for our family. We always get great service and the food is always fresh. The kids love subbing their fries for the Mac and cheese which is delicious. We appreciate the meal deal on Sundays so our kids meals are discounted. That helps this family of 5 out! We also love to sit in the booth under the guitar. The drive-thru line was really long, and I simply wanted to carry out some fried okra & ranch dressing so that I could eat something & take some medicine. 45 minutes later, and I'm still stressed out by the confrontational tone & in-your-face behavior that the manager had with me at the counter. It was rude and unnecessary. :,( [She was griping about my dog & I to kitchen staff loud enough for me to hear at the check-out counter while we waited for the food. That was also rude & unprofessional.] The manager was adamant that my service dog is *required* to wear a vest to come into the restaurant. AND that we weren't allowed to stay in the dining room to eat ... because she didn't want dog hair everywhere. Her behavior was aggressive, not assertive - I barely got a word in edgewise. This was supposed to be a "quick in & out" trip for food. 1. I offered to contact the city, in order to de-escalate the situation. 2. I offered to show the ADA.gov website (specifically the White Page for service animal access). 3. My service dog was working "naked" (no vest nor bandana), and he currently has VERY short hair because of the sudden high temps. 4. I tried several times to explain that service dogs aren't required to wear a vest [nor registration] based on ADA and accessibility laws. Normally I can get in the mindset that I'll have to do some service dog/ADA education & teaching convo out in public ... especially with "gatekeepers." I really have no complaints about this location and have been going here since they opened. I always enjoy getting the food here and have never had a bad meal. The chicken, fries, waffles, and wings have always been cooked pretty well with nothing weird about any of it. the chicken and waffles are honestly pretty dang good considering it is a chain fast food place. The staff is always pretty helpful and I don't I've ever had a bad interaction with anyone there. Just visited recently for a in-store pickup for an app order and it was 100% correct, and done earlier than "promised". UMPH, they'll do in a pinch. I mean a Real Pinch. The chicken was over cooked thus dried out for me. There was way too much sauce slathered on the honey bbq ones which was a turn-off for sure. They probably tried to overcompensate the dryness with all the sauce, but baby you can't fool a 'true foodie', no Sir. The garlic Parmesan wasn't any better...just a wash for me all the way around. Stopped in shortly after this location opened on a Saturday evening around 7:30 and got a 4 tender plate with fries...and ALL of the sauces. No seriously, I ordered and received every sauce they had on the menu (including the wing sauces). They don't call me the sauce boss for no reason. As for the food, there are pros and cons. The pros are that the chicken was breaded and cooked well/had good flavor on its own. I love any restaurant that has multiple drink dispensers (the good Coca-Cola infinite drink stations). And many of the sauces were quite good. My favorites were the cayenne ranch, gravy, bbq, honey bbq, sweet red chili, and mango habanero. The cons were that the fries are simply terrible...zero flavor, flat cut, and just bottom of the barrel generic. The "Texas toast" was Sara Lee sized and not much better than toast I can make at home. Was not a fan of the slim sauce, honey mustard, sriracha garlic, or inferno. The others were just okay. A *MASSIVE* plus was that the staff was engaging, helpful, and were studious in cleaning up. They also offered to get drink refills and came around to ask if patrons needed anything. For a fast food restaurant, this type of service is a tip of the cap to a bygone era where the bottom line wasn't just the bottom line, but providing a great customer experience. I simply can't overstate how blown away I was by this. The food is really 3 stars, but the customer service is a perfect 5 stars and then some. On the next trip...definitely going to have to try the other sides since the fries were awful. I suspect that the mac n' cheese or fried pickles have to be better. What can I say about slim chickens? Cute restaurant. Ok food. Subpar service. The chicken is pretty bland even though it looks like they have a lot a seasonings in there mix. The fries always taste like they were made an hour ago and were kept in the warmer. The fries might also be crispy but the inside isn't light and fluffy (like another chicken place I frequent). Forget the toast and ask for more fries. The toast is must definitely be made ahead of time because it's never crisp. It looks toasted but again seems to be kept in a warmer because it's always soft. You are given two sauces but any more you have to pay for. That makes it hard because they have about 2 dozen different types. I do suggest mixing any of the bbqs with the honey mustard. That's a great mix. Their secret sauce can be completely skipped. It's so runny. With all the different chicken places around I would recommend only visiting Slim Chickens if it's free. Okay, so maybe this review is more like 3.5 stars. It's fast food. It's all a bit mediocre. However, Slim Chickens is my preferred place when it comes to picking one of the fast casual chicken strip places that seem to be everywhere right now. The chicken strips are pretty good, the fries are usually crispy, and the desserts in the mason jars might be one of my addictions. I may or may not have my own personal collection of Slim Chickens mason jars at home. They do come in handy, but that only helps me justify getting dessert each time we go there. Today I got their new buffalo chicken sandwich. Pretty decent! Not super spicy. The bun was a little squished, but this is fast food. Gotta keep those expectations lower when there's a drive-thru attached to the restaurant. We've never had an issue with long waits at any of the Slim Chickens locations we've been too. Even if we go during a busy time the staff always seems to keep up. If a location opened up closer to us we'd probably be there way too much. Went straight home to eat. The strips and chips were good (flavor and temperature). Strips were pretty small. Wings were okay in size, but still small. They were cold to the touch. The meat and outside were cold. We were there before noon, so I'd think they'd be fresh. Not sure if they were leftover or what but the temperature was very off-putting and disappointing. Great wings! Great sandwiches! Great dessert jars! Great sweet tea and real lemonade! Great waffle and chicken! But pull out your lucky quarter and flip it for the chance you get coherent service. Don't get me wrong the staff here is nice and friendly and they really I think are trying to do their best -- but the management must be on vacation the last year as the same basic problems keep happening and the staff has zero initiative to fix or suggest how to make up for it. If you go complain and ask for a manager they will comp the meal or give you a free dessert, but you will have to put in the effort to get a manager and be frank on what was messed up or done less than expected. I'm not sure if it's just this location or the region, but I've had problems at the location on 135th street too. The staff just does not seem to be proactive and observant and when you inform them of a problem it seems to be the least possible effort solution that is what follows. I like most of the food better than Chick-Fil-A although sometimes I'm just in the mood for CFA style cooking. The service and the staff at CFA is always observant and proactive to fix or bring samples or offer something to show they have gratitude you choose to dine at CFA. Maybe that's why I've been repeatedly annoyed at Slim Chickens as they just don't have staff trained or empowered to deliver a 5 Star service. If you have a big order or time go inside to order and as soon as you get your meal speak up to voice any requests or missing items. The drive thru often has problems and is very slow even with a few cars in line. But, the food is good. Although many of the sides I've not liked. The entrees are always good though. The reason I keep going back is that the friend tenders are amazing. They're juicy in the inside and their light breading crispy on the outside. What separates them from other fast food or counter service restaurants is their salad. Slim Chicken has a mixed green salad that is always fresh. Like I've said, I've probably had SC more than 20 times and the salad has NEVER let me down. My favorite sauce for the tenders is the spicy BBQ sauce. This was my first stop into slim chickens since it's opening (the menu was a lot lighter back then). This location earned an extra star due to the expedience of the drive thru and the professionalism of the employees. I was very impressed with the size, and breading consistency of the tenders, the wings are average but can satisfy a craving. The inferno sauce is indeed hot, which was a plus for me. I hate ordering something with a "hot" name only to learn it's a little spicy. The only reason this restaurant did not earn a 5th star is it is very expensive for fast food.
