I'm surprised I've taken this long to review Go Chicken Go since I've probably gotten food to go a half dozen times. Someone asked a question looking for fried chicken livers and it reminded me of the need to do this review. I am usually not an organ fan. The one you play, great. But eating an organ or something like that is just not my thing normally. But I was raised eating fried chicken livers in Alabama so this is my one exception. That's it. If I get an underdone chicken liver, I'm done, so being cooked well is a necessity for me. I always get the fried chicken livers at Go Chicken Go which I have accidentally called Run Chicken Run. It is probably an accurate name even if I find it unsettling. I've always gotten well cooked chicken livers here. It's all I've gotten but my boyfriend has gotten gizzards (no, thanks) and the fried chicken and really liked both. I've had their biscuits and tasted the fries and they are both pretty good but I'm really there for the fried chicken livers. A large order is 2-3 meals for me. We order through the app and pick up in the drive thru. We have never had to wait long since we order through the app and our order has always been correct. I highly recommend doing it this way if you can! It is quite user friendly. I haven't been inside so I can't review the ambiance but it's fast food so I wouldn't be expecting too much. It's sort of in a more industrialized neighborhood so it it not fancy at all on the outside. Those places often have good food though. If you are looking for a fancy, dine in experience, this might not be the place but if you are looking for some well cooked, fried chicken, livers, or gizzards along with a pretty good biscuit on the side, check them out!! read more

Everyone has told me Go Chicken Go is the best place to get gizzards and livers. So when I saw I was close to one, I had to stop. Since my hubs loves livers ( I do not) and I love gizzards ( he does not) we got a full order. It came with 2 sauces and 2 rolls- the perfect split! The sauce is like a spicy salsa. The roll was a dinner roll lightly buttered. The full order is very generous and easy to share. I really enjoyed the gizzards either the spicy sauce. The batter was crispy and the gizzards were not rubbery. I thought the addition of the roll helped offset the heat of the sauce. I went thru the drive thru and the service was fast. This location is so consistent in the quality of their food, compared to other locations such as KC Mo and KC KS. The service from employees is fast, sincere and polite . I have only been through the drive thru and I imagine that dining in is just as delightful. I order the Livers and extra rolls. Every time the food is hot, fresh and tender . Some times they will ask "hey if it's okay we want to make a fresh batch, do you mind the wait?" I always say I don't mind (because I really don't ) and the wait isn't very long , just a few minutes . This is a no frills delicious place to eat for those who enjoy chicken . After having waited years to eat it again, I tried it, and I'll tell you this: how they are able to get all of that MSG to look like chicken and gravy is a Wonder. Me and my wife were having hot and cold flashes cuddled on the couch like we had just finished 4 days at a heroin overdose clinic. So anyway, maybe take a break from Go Chicken Go for a while. I hear their gizzards are great, but they just taste like rubber bands deep fried to me. Chew on a rubber band, and then try to eat one of those and tell me I'm wrong. We ordered a 6 piece value meal with some a la carte gizzards and sauce. The last time I had go chicken go was probably 20ish years ago and I didn't think much of it then. I found the chicken to be so flavorful with delightfully crunchy breading. The mashed potatoes were a nice white, traditional mash. The gravy was salty and buttery. Thinking more about it, it reminded me of egg drop soup. The rolls were just classic little puffs. Gizzards were good and go really well their G sauce. I would definitely revisit. read more

The coleslaw is tangy. The baked beans are savory. The mashed potatoes and gravy are life changing. I kid you not when I say I consider getting their chicken strip lunch every single day. My "strip snack" included two large, delicious, chicken strips. The white meat was moist and tasty, while the crust was very good, and reminded me of KFC original recipe. The mashed potatoes and roll were just acceptable, while the honey mustard dipping sauce was very good. I found the service to be friendly, and very helpful. We've eaten here many times, the food is always fantastic. If you want great fried chicken or gizzards, this is the place! Today we had family in town and they wanted gizzards so we ordered through DoorDash. Our dasher left the order on the sidewalk and screeched away fast...probably with one of our dinners because we were short one. I heard this place was great for chicken and gizzards/liver by many of my friends so I had to try it. To be honest, it's ok. The fried chicken looked good but it was a bit too bland for me and not enough crunch. The gizzards are a bit better, but nothing to write home about. The dining area is small and a bit dim. Nothing fancy and in a bit of a rundown place. This place is a bit far for me to drive to get chicken. I think it's well loved at my work because there's a running joke that if you go out for chicken, you've quit. Apparently, someone years ago went for chicken (probably here) and never came back. I will tell you what this place is great for though. They have really cool T-shirts of their establishment so people at work always get T-shirts as gag gifts at my work for people who retire. On our last night in Kansas City she, My Favorite Plus One, and I finally made out there. Finally found myself at the Olathe location! When I lived in KCK in the late 90's I was a frequent visitor at the locations there. Since moving back to the KC area a couple years ago, I have stopped at both KC locations several times. I wish there was close to me! I found this location to be the same as the other two, which is one reason I love Go Chicken Go. You always know that to expect. The gizzards are pretty much what we go for. Almost the best ever. Not over breaded. Tender (as a gizzard can be). Sometimes we get the livers: Yum! Not dry or over cooked like a lot of places. Sometimes I just order chicken. I love that you can order a 9 piece and pick mixed, mixed w/o wings, all dark, or all white. Everything I have ever ordered has been hot and fresh! So many of my friends LOVE the rolls, which are basically cheap tear apart rolls that have been split and buttered. Not a huge fan, but others truly dig them. I can't say that any of the sides stand out to me...which is why I rarely get them. The G Sauce is interesting. If you like it, you can get extra in a little condiment cup. If you love it, you can buy a bottle of it to take home. The drive through was great. Like the other locations, they never rush you to order. Like the other locations, the customer service was wonderful. If there is a Go Chicken Go nearby, I will continue to stop to get gizzards and/or chicken even if it is just to take home and eat on through the week. read more

We love this place BUT the chicken, while always tasty, is inconsistent. We have discerned that chicken purchased around dinner time is darker, greasy and the breading a little soggy. Chicken purchased earlier in the day is brown and tasty with a nice crunch to the breading. My suspicion is they do not filter or change their oil throughout the day resulting in old, debris filled oil being used later. I hope they read this posting. read more

This place may look run down but the chicken is to die for. My gf and I recently went to this place because she loves the gizzards. I personally thought they was alright but where my new found love for this place was in the strip dinner combo. They give you 3 tender and ungreasy think strips of chicken a roll and a deliecous small container of mash potatoes and gravy.
