I want to say that I absolutely love this place, and order at least once a week from the Johnson drive mission location. The Mac and cheese and cornbread bites are fantastic, and my food usually comes out hot and fresh. However, I've recently had some issues with the fried Oreos, and I'm hoping this review reaches store staff and they can up their cooking times or something. I've been ordering these over a year now and they are one of my favorite things. I seriously order atleast once a week. They've been amazing. But the last 5 or so times they have been getting more and more raw. I kept hoping it was just a fluke or maybe someone took them out too early. But now I'm thinking someone's doing something wrong and it's impossible to get a good order of them anymore. It worries me that if they send the Oreos out raw, I'm not going to be so sure about the chicken anymore. :( it's also impossible to request a refund when you order through the app for delivery and I don't wanna drive up to complain every single time. This is a nice, bright spot to grab some wings, chicken tenders, or a sandwich. While the space is a little small, they've got great outdoor space when the weather is nicer. It was a little busy while we were there but the cleanliness of tables was lacking and we needed to scrub dried sauce that was all over our table before sitting down. read more

Traditional wings are not the best tradition here. Went to try their traditional wings this week along with their new maple glaze. Neither one of them impressed. The wings are tiny and have no flavor on their own. Sadly, I was able to tell this, even though I ordered the wings with the maple glaze. Not a lot of sauce was used, but the sauce itself does not pair well with chicken wings. I can see how the sauce is fine for fried chicken and waffles, but I was not a fan on it being used with the wings. The size of the wings made it feel like they should be worth 50 cents. It felt like fast food quality, without being fast since I waited 20 minutes for my order (only 2 other orders were brought out between me ordering and me receiving my wings...it was a slow mid week night). Having grown up on the east coast, I've been eating buffalo style wings since the early 70s. What I had here were some of the best I've ever had. The wings themselves had a crispy texture with little or no breading on them. When ordering, I said I wanted a medium hot and sweet sauce and the sweet garlic sauce the cashier suggested was spot on. I'll definitely be coming back. My only suggestion is..... less sauce! The wings I had were absolutely swimming in sauce rather than tossed in a bowl to coat them evenly. We ordered food here while we were at Sully's watching the Chiefs game. This place is close to where I work, and I have coworkers that come often to get lunch. They always rave about it. The ordering system between WingStand and Sully's I think is confusing. They delivered our food to Sully's which was nice, but they didn't give us utensils or napkins or the drinks we ordered. The guy who dropped off our food was annoyed when we started asking him questions. He told us that for drinks you have to go over there to get them. They also forgot some of our food. The delivering was nice and convenient but quickly became a pain because we had to go in anyway to get everything we were missing. The food was fine. It was solid for watching a game. I am not dying to come back but I think we would have had a better experience if we had just gone in person to order everything because it turned into a weird mess at Sully's. read more

Went to their food truck at the Lenexa "food truck frenzy" event. Quite possibly the worst food truck I have ever been to in my life. It took only nine minutes to get through the line to order. It took an HOUR AND A HALF standing on the sidewalk waiting for an order of wings. They were completely incompetent and she mumbled something about how their "fryers were just overworked". Seriously? Then why did they keep taking orders? The people sitting there waiting for an hour had to warn people walking up to stop ordering because they clearly had no idea how to do an event from a food truck. It looked like maybe it was their first time ever making food. And add to that the food was lukewarm and frankly not that great once we got it. And then you go to get ranch or anything else out of their cooler and it's not even what's labeled there. Just some packets of mayo. They should absolutely not be allowed to do a food truck event anywhere until they can figure out how to make wings in less than 90 minutes. If they didn't already have my money, I would've walked away after the first hour waiting for wings. Didn't get to experience any of the rest of this event while I was standing there waiting for this ridiculousness. And they're so-called "loaded fries" are just mushy fries with some taste list Velveeta and canned bacon bits spread on top. Our friends that were with us ended up going to two or three different trucks for things in the time it took us to get an order of wings so they can't blame the crowd or anything but their own incompetency and lack of preparation. This place seems hit or miss. We ordered takeout on a Sunday night. Despite showing up 5-10 minutes after the time the order was supposed to be ready it wasn't. Eventually we were given an order that we realized wasn't ours as we were walking out. We took it back it in and were told our order would have to be remade. They did give us a $10 gift card for the inconvenience which was a nice touch. About 20 minutes later we got our meal. The chicken tenders meal was a little disappointing. Not as much breading and crunch as you'd expect. The pickle chips were on the soggier side. The boneless wings were pretty delicious and the sauces were excellent. The fries had a nice crunch and were well seasoned. We will probably give it another try now that we have a gift card and hope for something a little better! read more

We've been passing this spot every day excited for its opening. We needed a level up from a wing stop in mission. Not that wing stop is horrible, it just doesn't cut it sometimes. The portions are somewhat average for the price, but it's just as good as it looks. You can pick up to 3 flavors with a large wing basket and you can sub Mac n cheese or fried pickles for a dollar more. I think most plates average to be $10-11 bucks and that's with a drink. Not bad. The buffalo Mac was NOT spicy. I was definitely expecting it to be, but they drizzle it with buffalo instead of tossing the chicken. I like that. I've definitely had plates like that where it's just TOO much. You still taste the Mac with hints of buffalo and crunchy chicken. It was a beautiful evening to sit on the patio. I love the bright walls outside! We played corn hole after and that was fun. I could see that being a hit, so I would recommend getting more sets. The only negative was that they didn't bring utensils out with our dine in order and the runner didn't ask if we needed anything. I think that's normal when you're first opening. First visit there, saw an ad on FB advertising a $5.99 Customer Appreciation special so I plugged the address into my gps and off I went. What a nice, cool, clean place. Simple parking spaces out front gave me easy access. Staff was nice and friendly. I ordered the offer which was six wings with the Jamaica jerk slice rub and a drink and a side. I got the side fries. I also ordered a single cheeseburger. The wings were excellent as were the fries. Not greasy at all. I could have used some more jerk on the wings but they still were very tasty. Eh with place is hit or miss. Most of the time it's just ok. This was Our experience Friday. I had the Gutchu Dang chicken. It had little flavor and what flavor it had was kinda a plastic taste or tasted like some premed grocery store jarred crap sauce. I Didn't finish my and wilted to doctor it up tomorrow. My husband had their hot/Buffalo chicken with was better than mine but still lacked flavor, most certainly was not spicy BTW there is nothing special about their coleslaw. First Impression: So I'm a huge fan of Jefferson's in Lawrence so I had to check out Wingstand. You can only do orders online to-go (no calling in) which is a bit annoying. There are many different wing and sauce combinations along with sandwiches and macs. The building itself is a bit small with an outdoor seating area. Food: I got traditional wings in the "hot" flavor and hot honey Mac n cheese. The wings were on the smaller side, but were cooked well. The hot buffalo sauce is not really hot at all, more like a medium or mild. Though it was still tasty. The Mac n cheese was a bit disappointing as it was missing a lot of the advertised ingredients. The chicken didn't have the greatest flavor, almost felt like it needed more kick. I really had to take a few bites before getting the taste of the breading. The Mac on its own is pretty solid though and very cheesy. Final Verdict: Definitely don't expect Jefferson's level wings here. Although it is a decent wing spot on its own. The 6 wings with a side and drink is a good deal (especially with prices these days). I'd probably come here again if I was in the area. We used the app to order. The order kept saying one of the items wasn't available but didn't say which item so I had to try taking off each item 1 by 1. The checkout said the order would be ready at one time, which fit our schedule, but once I paid, it changed the time to 15 minutes later. We go to pick up order and went inside, the guy asked my name several times as I waited, then I realized later the order had been ready for who knows how long and sitting in the back area. Then I got to the car and realized the bag said 1/2 and it turned out that half my order was still inside. When I got back in the store he was just standing there holding bag 2. We ended up with sandwiches with a few different sauces, fries and funnel cake fries. The food is okay, but the hassle was not. If I ever went there again, I'd leave the weird slaw off. The fries tasted left over, but could be due to the fact that our order sat there for who knows how long. Great addition to the neighborhood! I ordered the 5 traditional tenders. The fresh made tenders are large in size and had a nice breading on them. They were fried crispy and well seasoned and flavored. (I'll be able to get 2 meals out of this order). I chose the fries as my side. The serving was plentiful. They were nice and crispy on on outside and tender on the inside. This was the opening week and the place was slammed. They were doing a great job of getting orders out to customers despite some of the entitled patrons who thought 24 minutes was too long to wait. I have been to this location several times and have always had great experiences. My most recent visit was my largest order (I ordered 6 of the $5 wing combo to go) and everything went smoothly. On Wednesdays they offer their Boneless, Half and Half, or their traditional small combo for $5. This consists of 6 wings, fries, and a drink (try their cherry limeade- yum!). While the wings are on the smaller side, you can't beat the $5 combo deal. I'd also recommend trying their fried pickles which are soooo good and the sauce that comes with it pairs with the pickles wonderfully. Overall, I feel like you can't go wrong here because the food is amazing, and the customer service is on par every time. I got to this place around 6:30pm on 7/11/2023 after having maybe one of the worst days of the year so far. I just wanted to get some trash food, lay on the couch, and watch some TV. Instead, I spent an hour and a half sitting at this place waiting for my food. I ordered the Honey Q mac and cheese, an order of fried Oreos, and an individual side of French fries. At around the 45 minute mark of standing around and waiting, I heard my name called along with a large bundle of what appeared to be my order being handed off to another patron. About 5 minutes later, I heard my name called again. I got the bag, opened it up, and it wasn't my order by a long shot. I told the staff, they said they'd have the correct order out as soon as possible. Eventually, the teenager working the register told me they were still waiting on my food because the order of fried Oreos got burnt. About 10 minutes later, he said they'd lost a bunch of tickets and apologized. He had to re-write my order on a large piece of cardboard. When I finally got my food, he fessed up to giving mine to another person way back at the 45 minute mark. I finally left the restaurant with my order at around 8pm. Pretty underwhelming wings. Perhaps I got a bad batch because the double dipped dry rub tasted fine, but there was a bit of an aftertaste in the wings. The macaroni & cheese was good, and it reminded me of Panera's version, just a tad creamier / soupier.
