Morty served up delicious Chicago-style food with a smile during my lunch visit at this food cart, which is owned and operated by a disabled veteran. The Italian beef sandwich with chips ($11.95) was served just a few minutes after I ordered at the counter, where the service was friendly and jovial - nice! The 6" sandwich was piled high with plenty of delicious Italian beef and a good variety of tasty, giardiniera pickled toppings on a fresh bun. Options included dry or wet and mild or spicy. I opted for wet and spicy and that proved to be a great choice. I ran into Morty's in front of Roeland Park's Price Chopper, where it is located many weekends from 11AM-5PM or until sold out (check social media). The menu included Italian beef, Italian sausage, hot dogs and Polish sausage with meat supplied by Chicago's own Vienna Beef, which was founded in 1893. It was a taste of Chicago at a fair price with a smile - excellent!

If you're expecting quality Chicago inspired Italian Hot Beefs from a small food truck/trailer that only sells that and Vienna Hot Dogs, I've got good news. Incredibly friendly service and the best beef I've had outside of Chicago. Would give those beefs a run for their money, even. There's usually a line and for good reason, although I got lucky and arrived around closing and got the last beef without a line. It was meant to be(ef). Will be making this a priority stop whenever I'm in KC.

Westplaza now has the best hot dog stand in all the land. Real Vienna Beef dog, real Chicago style hotdog. I'm in love with the streamed bun,

This is why I'm a frequent visitor to Morty's when you bite into a sandwich and you're instantly reminded of all the GREAT MEMORIES that you enjoyed. I was telling a friend about Morty's and this is what I had said "It's more than DELICIOUS it brings me back to Chicago and makes me remember all the great memories of growing up and living in Chicago. When you find something like that in food you know that the DELICIOUSNESS will always be cherished in every bite"

Great place to find a Chicago Dog in Kansas City. Super nice guy and his stand can be a little busy, but the food is worth the wait!

Sadly, the overall visit was very disappointing. House salad was great, Sicilian garlic dip was great. Beef spiedini tasted charred and was overcooked enough to be dry. The amogio tasted imbalanced and was finished with a soggy wad of parsley. My side of Capelli D'Angelo was actually great. My wife's Chicken Spiedini Garozzo was also overcooked. The 2 end pieces were dry and crusty. Before tonight I've never had a bad meal at Garozzo's. We know the recipes are great. The execution was the problem. To make matters much worse, our waitress was not good. Would disappear for a 10+ minutes at a time. We saw the neighboring table's waiter over twice as often. She started off our visit by bluntly interrupting my wife while she was talking to me. She took away my Old Fashioned without confirming I was done. I wasn't. Usually the service and the food are fantastic, so tonight was a surprise and a disappointment.

I will definitely go back and order different dishes! The ambiance is nice.

It always feels like a special night out. Ashley is usually our server, and she's an absolute gem. She offers thoughtful recommendations, knows the menu inside and out, and provides the kind of warm, amazing service that keeps us coming back. The food is consistently outstanding. On this visit we shared the ceviche, the tagliatelle Bolognese, and the Campo Lindo chicken breast. It was all delicious. We love that the menu is always being updated, but they continue to offer some of our favorites. The ambiance is just as memorable as the food. Whether you choose the oyster bar, the cocktail bar, or the dining room, the experience always feels elevated. They also have a great private dining room. We recently celebrated a friend's birthday there, and it was the perfect setting. Farina continues to deliver one of the best dining experiences in Kansas City. From the exceptional food and thoughtful service to the inviting atmosphere, it's a restaurant we find ourselves returning to again and again. Highly recommend for date night or any special occasion.

Some of the best Italian inspired food anywhere. It's justifiably difficult to get a booking, as befits the best restaurant in Kansas City. Beautiful dishes in a great atmosphere. Start with the ambiance: it's usually busy in an enjoyable uplifting way. People watching is at a peak here as smart diners move between elegant and tasteful furniture while friendly, professional (and invariably handsome) wait staff glide through it all. If you recognize and appreciate good Italian design, this place will delight you before you've even glanced at the menu. Talking of the menu - it's a revolving tableau of Italian inspired deliciousness that will cause you to pause after each first bite - and look up at your dinner companion with a smile that says "wow"! Last night I had a lobster roll that defied gravity in its lightness. And the taste and texture was just perfect - what an appetizer! It was a moderate eating evening so I only had the pasta. A Carbonara of homemade thick noodle pasta with a deeply seductive cream sauce base. Paired both with a selection from the other great feature of Farina, its wine list. My selection was a minerally dry sparkling rose (I know, but trust me!) from the slopes of Etna. The wine selection is itself a wonderful experience - I'd recommend sticking with the Italian options - of which there are many, and they are quality examples some of which are rare finds in America. When you add great service and - as always - a brief check in from one of the two owners (he chef, she sommelier) you can round out a top level dining experience right here in KCMO. One to rival any other eatery in much bigger markets - or even Italy itself.

Laura, the owner, greeted us as soon as we walked in and was probably the sweetest and most welcoming person we've met in Kansas City. She immediately made us feel at home. My wife had the bolognese and absolutely loved it, and she really appreciated having gluten-free options available. I had the cacio e pepe, and the pasta was cooked perfectly. Great upscale Italian atmosphere without making you feel like you need to pronounce every menu item with an accent. The menu has a nice variety, and our waiter was fantastic. He took the time to explain the dishes and even gave us a heads-up on which items took longer to prepare. I always appreciate the honesty--nothing worse than wondering if your entrée is being handcrafted by Italian grandmas in the back. The drinks were delicious and surprisingly reasonably priced. We did find out they have a happy hour at the bar...right after we missed it. Rookie mistake on our part! The lasagna absolutely stole the show. Rich, flavorful, cheesy, and worth every bite. If you're on the fence, order it. The appetizer was tasty but felt a little small for the price, so I'd probably save room (and money) for more pasta instead. Overall, I'd definitely come back to work my way through the menu. Next time I'll aim for happy hour, order another pasta dish, and try not to let the lasagna set unrealistic expectations for everything else.

The cheese was a delightful bold contrast to very well blended meatballs. It wasn't extremely creamy polenta but melted enough to eat along with the meatballs. By themselves seasoned goodness. Calamari was all rings, battered which was a different breading than I was used to but very good with both sugo and calabrian aioli provided. The portion was standard restaurant quantity but of course rings are honestly premium. Chicken parm plated along side parmesan rigatoni had crispy breading flavor with provolone and mozzarella atop. Every bite was savory. I needed a little salt on the rigatoni. My friend said her sliders were good too, even though the bread may look stiff, it was soft, she wanted the side of marinara for more moistness. We shared the dessert.. the butter cake was divine.
