Meshuggah Bagels, 1208, W 39th St - Ray Ray, we are not in Kansas anymore! With a name and an address like that it's got to be behind Penn Station and the Garden in the city, right! Well, we are actually in Volker, Kansas City, Missouri at this beautiful, fun, relaxed and tasty Bagel place that has that " crazy" name but serves up really good bagels and coffee. Lucky for me that they are closed on Mondays only. Tired of the same old hotel food, I found this absolute gem and just enjoyed the gorgeous " Andrea" special - a perfect onion bagel with scallion cream cheese plus lived red onions.( photo). The bagel was really, really good. The cc portion was generous. It was $10.23 for the special bagel sandwich plus a large coffee. Great deal! Kenny was the sweet, sharp and very kind Manager/counter person/ chef/ guide who was so thorough and showed me and went over the menu and pointed out the specials. He handled the line at 8 am like a pro. He made my bagel Sammy. The vibe here was so relaxing and warm. Seating for 22 plus a high chair( yup they knew I was on the way!). You have all got to be Meshuggah for not getting your tukhas down here to enjoy authentic bagels and BIALYS!

This is a great spot to pop in along 39th and get a quick breakfast, lunch, or snack. Though the place is on the smaller side, there is still seating available for a quick bite. The staff is friendly and efficient. They even have a recommendation board with all the staff's favorite items. My personal favorite is the smoked nova salmon on an everything bagel with schmear, capers, and red onions!

Bagels were okay. Kind of tough but the GARLIC AND HERB CREAM CHEESE?! SO good. Service was quick even on a busy weekend. Ambiance is kind of homey and cozy, but tables were dirty.

Great bagel sandwich spot! Interesting selection of drinks and the space is super cool!

I'm still thinking about the chocolate chip bagel with Oreo cheesecake schmear I had. I am not a bagel expert, I just enjoy them. This bagel was other worldly. I would go so far as to call it the best bagel I've ever had. I live in St. Louis, and I will 100% be making this a stop when I'm in town.

We FINALLY got to try this cute little bagel shop on our last visit to Kansas City and boy were we impressed! We wanted to try it a year ago but it happened to be closed that day so when I saw that the place we were staying at was available this time around I wanted to be sure we got bagels before we left! I was eager to wake up at a decent time to make sure we had time to enjoy our bagels and head on our way to our next adventure. My boyfriend got an poppy seed bagel with lox, capers and , an everything bagel with jalapeno smear and I got the bialy bagel with lox, capers, and tomatoes and a chocolate chip bagel with cinnamon sugar smear. We started our morning with the hearty lox and bagels we ordered first and we were completely blown away by how delicious it was! We both consider these to be the best bagels we've ever enjoyed! The bagels were a great size and they were pretty generous with their portions! I absolutely love bagels with lox and will now forever hold this place dearly in my heart anytime we happen to be in the neighborhood and would like to enjoy this lovely meal. We later enjoyed our second bagel on our drive home and though it was eaten hours later they still hit the spot!! My chocolate chip bagel with cinnamon sugar smear was the perfect amount of sweetness without feeling like I'm eating a piece of sugary cake. My boyfriend enjoyed his savory everything bagel with the bit of spice from the jalapeno smear as well. It made for a great road trip meal!! This little spot is the perfect place to pick up an easy delicious breakfast, snack, or light meal. It got pretty busy while we were there but the staff managed the amount of people and the amount of orders swimmingly. They maintained their kindness throughout our visit and were able to get our orders to us in a timely matter. I'm already looking forward to our next KC visit and to hopefully get another bagel with lox!

I am a New Yorker who lives in the Southwest now, and I was so happy to stumble upon this place on my trip to KC! Amazing bagels and schmears, very reasonably priced, with coffee at $2.50. All in all, this place gives a cozy "hidden gem" vibe (that doesn't try too hard) with their wooden tables and low lighting. Staff were friendly and helpful with their recommendations. Would be a regular if I lived closer!

This bagel is meh. It is mid, at best. Is it better than the reasonable facsimiles passed off as bagels at places like Einstein or Panera, yes. Is it a great, amazing bagel - no. The everything bagel I had was soft. In fact, it had a split personality. The bottom of the bagel had that more egg shell, crunch, I want the whole bagel to have. The top half was soft. Mushy. It was almost as if the bottom wanted to be that New York water boiled bagel while the top was identifying as a sourdough bagel. This is not a bagel that will evoke memories of the bagel shop across from the train station on Long Island, with the red neon "hot bagels" sign glowing, while baskets of hot, freshly baked bagels are emptied into customer's brown bags. The everything seasoning was okay. It wasn't memorable. Plain cream cheese was just plain cream cheese. There is no cream cheese anywhere that will compare to Temp Tee. I appreciate the fact the 39th Street location was Kosher. I'm not a fan of the house but as I soon discovered, that was the vibe on 39th Street. If I'm in Kansas City again, would I come back? Maybe but I wouldn't go out of my way or make an effort to.

Genuinely the best bagel I have ever had. Fresh, delicious, was thinking about when the next time I would visit as I was eating the bagel. This place is amazing. Pictured: everything bagel with vegan cream cheese. Vegan and vegetarian friendly

Taste 5/5 Price 5/5 (1/2 off for sandwich week original $14.99) "The Wise Guy" An Italian delight of epic proportions, this sandwich lived up to expectations of being a stellar spectacle between two slices of bread. If your mouth waters at the prospect of Italian meats being inside of it then this is the guy for you. I definitely would pay full price for this bad boy! Who knew Kelly's had a kick butt sandwich shop slanging mad good meals in there?! Not I...I only thought they served soggy 'za. Now I'll definitely be back to the walk up window to order this packed Italian stallion, it was stuffed with mortedella, spicy capicola, prosciutto, and pepperoni and salami and they don't skimp on the meat piles here. Also, the spicy vinegar zing from the pickled Giardiniera was so satisfying with the oily Italian sub dressing. I wouldn't change anything about this sandwich especially with your choice of Guys chips on the side- kettle cooked or onion and chive are the only choices appropriate...add those chips to the sandwich and you've just blasted off into a texture territory that's unparalleled. Can you tell I'm still thinking of this Wise Guy a few weeks later? He really made an impression, eh?

At any rate, I hadn't been to Kelly's since Joe's closed down and my memories of Joe's were that it was OK, but not really much to write home about. I asked some of my pals what their thoughts were on Guy's pizza and next thing I knew I was in line for a slice. Honestly, it might not be the very best pizza in town but it was really pretty tasty. I enjoyed every last bite of my slice, and when my husband texted to see if I could snag dinner for him on the way home, I just went ahead and ordered a whole 'za for the family. I will say, for some reason the slice tasted better to me than the slice I had from the whole pie I bought, but overall, I'd for sure eat here again. It's convenient, and worlds better than what was here previously.

What makes this place stand out is the concept. You can walk up to the butcher case, pick out your own steak, and have them grill it for you. It's a fun experience that feels different from a traditional steakhouse. If you'd rather order from the menu, there are also plenty of meat and seafood options available. We shared a bone-in ribeye that was absolutely delicious. We started with the Sweet Potato Hummus, which my wife especially loved. The real surprise of the night was the Hot Honey & Goat Cheese Brussels Sprouts. Those were outstanding and easily one of the best sides we've had in a long time. The roasted potatoes, on the other hand, were just okay. Another thing worth mentioning is the deli-style refrigerated cases in the back of the shop. They're packed with prepared meals, sides, meats, and other items that looked genuinely tempting for taking home later. Overall, a very enjoyable first experience and a creative addition to the Kansas City dining scene

Let's start with the service--Billy, Grant, and Parker were all incredible. Friendly, attentive, and just chill in the best way. You can tell they care about what they're doing and treat customers like family. Scott and Vicky the owners were warm and welcoming. They welcomed feedback in the best way... it definitely felt like a locally owned neighborhood market. Now, let's talk food: Meatballs alla Vodka? Baaaaby. Rich, savory, cheesy, melt-in-your-mouth goodness. Hot Honey Brussels were crispy, sweet, spicy, and downright addictive. Parmesan & Rosemary Fries? Flavorful with a perfect crisp. That rosemary hit me in my soul. Fritz Müller Perlwein Rosé was served at the bar at grocery store pricing. And yes, I was feelin' bougie for less. Then I peeked around and realized this place is ALSO a full-on boutique market. Think wine shop, butcher counter, charcuterie essentials, and every sauce or seasoning your inner foodie could dream of. The vibe is elevated but still approachable--perfect for a wine night run or a laid-back date night. Truly a one-stop shop for snacks and sustenance. Support local, and treat yourself. I'll be back soon, probably with a tote bag and a full appetite. Definitely filling my DEAN AND DELUCA void!!!

I attempted to order online but they shut down online ordering fairly early-it was well before closing, so I headed there to order. The individual who assisted me was friendly and the restaurant seemed very clean. They have cute decor. I did take my order to go because it was getting close to close and I didn't want to be that person. I ordered a ton of things. Eyes were definitely bigger than my stomach but I don't mind leftovers. I started with a couple of appetizers. The first being the sugarcane shrimp patties: Shrimp patties delicately wrapped around sticks of sugarcane, presenting a harmonious blend of savory seafood notes. They come three to an order and were interesting. I liked the texture of the shrimp patties and they did have a good flavor. Would I get it again? Maybe. I also tried the fried lobster balls. Those come 5 to an order and were exactly what they said-fried balls of lobster. They were also good but they have several other appetizers so I would probably opt to try a few more things out. They have Korean corn dogs and because I've never had one, I decided that needed to change. I ordered the potato half and half-half dog, half cheese. It was huge. Like way bigger than I thought. I liked the potato outside, it was crispy and tasted like a giant French fry. Lots of cheese and the dog was a dog. I don't regret getting it but I would have to be in the mood to get one again. It was fun though. My favorite item was the grilled pork croissant: butter mayo, house sauce, jalapeño, cucumber, and cilantro with pickled radish and carrot. It was so good and what I will definitely return for. The pork had great flavor, the veg was a crunchy, refreshing flavor and the croissant was so flaky and delicious. My only complaint is that it got a little soggy on the way home but I popped it in the oven and voila! First world problem solved. Highly recommend. Finally, I had to get a boba tea. I went with the mango milk tea base and added mango popping boba. It was refreshing and delicious. I like that you can really customize your drink. I had a sip of a Thai tea with brown sugar boba and that will be what I get in the future. So good. I will definitely return and I highly recommend that you try it out.

The staff is always respectful and pleasant whenever I visit. I usually bring different friends here to check it out for the first time, and they always enjoy the food and ambiance. The prices are fair depending on what you order. I like trying something new each visit, but a must-try is definitely their Banh Mi - I've had the Special Combo and the Grilled Pork. Also, don't sleep on the Combo Croissant Sandwich! Everything is fresh, though I highly recommend eating there; if you take it home, the bread can get soggy. For drinks, their boba is great. My favorites are the Lychee Strawberry Fruit Tea and the Peach Green Tea. On my most recent visit, I tried the R1: Grilled Pork Chop & Broken Rice (Cơm tấm sườn bì chả). It was a huge portion with broken rice, pork chop, shredded pork skin, meatloaf, and fresh veggies, served with house fish sauce and a side soup. Very delicious! I also tried the Firecracker Shrimp appetizer. It was more like a standard shrimp tempura; I was expecting shrimp wrapped in thin spring roll wrappers, so it was just 'okay' for me. One area for improvement is the cleanliness; the tables and bathroom could use more work and attention. Also, there were restock boxes in the front that were blocking the two big lounge seats. Overall, Paris Banh Mi is a solid place to eat and hang out, with good food for a decent price!
