    Shareable fried oreos.
    Ronny D.

I want to say that I absolutely love this place, and order at least once a week from the Johnson drive mission location. The Mac and cheese and cornbread bites are fantastic, and my food usually comes out hot and fresh. However, I've recently had some issues with the fried Oreos, and I'm hoping this review reaches store staff and they can up their cooking times or something. I've been ordering these over a year now and they are one of my favorite things. I seriously order atleast once a week. They've been amazing. But the last 5 or so times they have been getting more and more raw. I kept hoping it was just a fluke or maybe someone took them out too early. But now I'm thinking someone's doing something wrong and it's impossible to get a good order of them anymore. It worries me that if they send the Oreos out raw, I'm not going to be so sure about the chicken anymore. :( it's also impossible to request a refund when you order through the app for delivery and I don't wanna drive up to complain every single time. Please fix the cooking times!

Don't be fooled by the chicken out front, 'cuz Wing Stand by Jefferson's is slinging more than just the bird! Downtown Mission has seen so many changes in the past decade and Wing Stand is another great addition. Ordering is quick & easy, whether you are staying in the small dining area or getting your order to go. Your choice is handmade to order, dipped or breaded, and prepared pretty much right in front of you. I'd suggest the Double Dipped, fried twice and drizzled with their housemade ranch and pair that with a side. The fried pickles are also worth a look, hand-breaded chips fried up right and served with a sauce choice. Parking ain't bad, but downtown Mission can get some traffic with the options coming in. Wing Stand is one of those options and darn well worth your time and visit.

As luck would have it, I had to run an errand near the area and my decision was made. First off, the entrance isn't where you'd think it would be. The order window was closed and I noticed people going up to the deck to get in, so up I headed. The place was actually spacious and comfortable, it has a Caribbean vibe to it. After much consternation, I figured I'd make it tough on them and opted for the Reuben. As some somebody who has had many Reubens at the place where they were invented, Omaha's Blackstone Hotel, I can be a tough judge. This is definitely the best place to get one in KC, so I know that I'll be back for more. I even liked the bread that they used, it set it apart from other sammiches. And the service was great, so I'll be back.

Okay Modern Market, I see you…read more I was on the hunt for a healthy-ish spot for lunch (I mean, hello it is January), when I came upon Modern Market Eatery on Yelp. Upon doing some research I learned it's a scratch kitchen specializing in clean eats, and that it's a chain. A win for the health options, a ding for the chain, but not all chains are bad, an we are living in a time where there are some winners. So, I packed myself up and headed down the road to Prairie Village. It's still fairly new, and it has that squeaky clean feeling to it when you arrive. Inside it's counter service and you seat yourself (they will bring the food to you). It kind of reminded me of how Noodles and Company felt when they first became a thing way back in the early 2000s. I ordered a thai salad that came in at under 400 calories so I was honestly skeptical at how big or flavorful it would really be when it arrived, and holy cow was it good. The chicken was cold, but still held some flavor, the dressing was great, there were fresh veggies, pickled onions. It was one of the best 400 calorie meals I've had in a long time. My dad ordered the salmon curry and he also enjoyed his though I didn't try it so jury's out on my opinion! I left full and happy to have discovered this spot. I'll be back soon!

First of all it's a pretty typical grab and go/ order at the counter kind of lunch spot. Their menu is mostly sandwiches and salads. I ordered their fried egg/pimento cheese sandwich and it was honestly great. It didn't come with any sides, though I could have added some on if I wanted. IMO it didn't need it as the sandwich itself was a very good size. The dining room is moderately sized, and filled up by around noon. I noticed loads of folks coming in for to-go orders so I'm sure it's always busy around the lunch hour. The price point was about what you'd expect these days - with most things hovering just under the $20 threshold. Overall, I really enjoyed my lunch here and I'd go back!

But lo and behold the last 4 orders it's wrong every time and they are slow. When they do mess up there is no remorse just attitude. The order before this they ran out of white bread in the early afternoon. Since it was for my kid and he is picky he wouldn't eat anything else, I got the most attitude about requesting a refund instead it almost turned me off forever. But today I decided to give them another chance and try them again. Never again. Ordered 2 giant subs and just requested them plain. Somehow that was too much but after coming back to the store and informing them, it was an inconvenience to request the sandwiches made correctly. Was I pushed to the front of the online orders? Nope. So the entire point of ordering online was defeated because I ended up waiting over an hour between the 2 times having to go that I could and should have gone somewhere else. Here, the strict, timeless geometry of the Left Bank softens into a warm, sun-lit casual elegance, a neighborhood sanctuary where the hum of local politics replaces the brooding silence of the philosopher's corner. It is a space where the Democratic social scene is always in full, effervescent effect, a kinetic theater of ideas where local strategists, organizers, and policy wonks gather over marble tables to debate the future of the state while tearing apart freshly baked croissants. The air thickens not with existential dread, but with the electric, hopeful prose of a collective striving for progress, making it the definitive salon of the modern suburban landscape. The beauty of French Market lies in this seamless blending of civic passion and culinary delight. Every corner of the room feels curated with a benevolent affection, an atmosphere fueled entirely by a staff that can only be described as thoroughly fabulous. From the front counter to the busy kitchen, the team moves with a synchronized, smiling grace that makes every patron feel like the guest of honor at an intimate neighborhood gathering. They navigate the bustling room with a genuine warmth, pouring drinks and delivering plates with an infectious energy that elevates the casual setting into something truly extraordinary. It is a rare, beautiful thing to find a restaurant where the hospitality feels less like a service industry transaction and more like a generous act of civic kinship. On the plate, the market routinely touches the sublime, offering dishes that sing with a clear, poetic precision. The crab cakes are a revelation of coastal longing, packed with sweet, tender lump meat and boasting a delicate, golden sear that yields effortlessly to the fork. For all the brilliance on display, it is best to gently bypass the steak frites for the time being, steering clear of the dish until the kitchen source a more premium quality of beef to match their otherwise flawless standards. But this minor detour is easily forgotten the moment you glance toward the pastry case. The desserts here are an absolute, transcendent poetry of sugar and butter, offering delicate tarts and airy confections that are nothing short of sublime.
