We came to Buck Tui for our work holiday dinner. I will start that one of our colleagues has alpha-gal and while there were things she could have based on the menu, they unfortunately fry all of their food in the same oil so she couldn't actually have any of the fried food (cauliflower tempura, chicken, etc.). It is for this reason that I could not give it a full five stars. Besides the navigation of food allergies, everyone else thoroughly enjoyed their meals. The brisket rangoon and sausage dumplings are can't miss. We also shared incredibly tender burnt ends, crispy chicken, and the phad thai brisket. First off what a cool concept two of my favorite foods, fused together. The smoke brisket spring rolls were very fresh and were on the specials menu. The drunken noodles were exploding with flavor make sure you ask for mild if you can't handle a lot of heat. The Golden Crab fried rice was very light, had a good flavor, I also ordered the Mac and cheese, it was Mac n cheese. This was our first time trying this restaurant. We can't stop talking about coming back!!! we started with pork eggrolls, but I failed to take a picture. The highlights of the meal were certainly these entrées. The portion sizes are huge, so be prepared to take some home with you. I've been wanting to try this place forever, but was unfortunately very disappointed. The brisket Rangoon were amazing. If you get anything from here, grab those to go. The bbq plate was nothing special. The brisket was good, but dry. The pulled pork was very fatty and flavorless. Fries were good, but the beans were just odd. Can't really describe them. The pad Thai was awful. The pork was very hard to chew and it was way too spicy. I love spice, but this just scorched my throat. I couldn't even eat it. The service was okay. They were not particularly attentive, but they did take the pad Thai off the tab without any grief. Ambiance was okay, too crowded. Not for lack of seats. They just pack you next to everyone else. I've had their brisket in the past and was quite impressed....but I got a 1/2lb of brisket the other day and it was close to, if not the worst burnt ends I've ever had. On top of that they were about $23 out the door for a 1/2lb!!! Which is insane. I couldn't even pull apart a burnt end. I want to believe that the meat was just bad meat...not Buck Tui.... That's my hope. I can go to Price Chopper and buy prepackaged burnt ends and it comes out better than these. Interesting food combo but really enjoyable! We came on new years day so it was quite empty. Was given a gift card to try it out as we've been exploring local restaurants. Thursdays happen to be their happy hour day which was nice! Super excited over the appetizer options! The brisket crab Rangoon's were delicious and creamy. The pulled pork egg rolls also hit the spot but I think more pulled pork would have been better. The sausage dumplings were alright, was a big fan of the sausage as it had different (herbs?) inside that just didn't match my taste buds. For the main course, the pineapple rib fried rice was the most looked forward too but was a little disappointing. The ribs themselves were good, a little fatty but that could've been the ones we got, the fried rice though, in my opinion, was very sad, so it got drowned in quite a bit of bbq sauce. Their bbq sauce it very good, only had one option on the table, and it's sweet over tangy. Also got the two meat combo with the Thai sausage (again not my favorite), the brisket (standard, nothing special), and with fries and white Mac n cheese. The fried and Mac n cheese were the highlight of my main meal. I'd definitely come back but I think I was a bigger fan of the appetizers than the main courses. We have been here several times and have yet to be disappointed. I try to get something different each time and i must say, everything has been wonderful. The X-Man sandwich has a wonderful flavor and is my favorite thing I have had. I also loved the Brisket Pad Thai. Just the right amount of spice...not near what a traditional Thai restaurant might be....probably a "mild +". Their appetizers we have had are excellent as well. Looking to try something new in town and came across this restaurant that's Thai and BBQ Fusion. Inside was very vibrant and chill setting. They were playing R&B jam. Our waiter was very nice and quick to serve. The menu was limited of food items. I order the pull pork drunken noodle and my hubby got the pick 3 meals with 2 sides. The food came out very fast. I love thai food alot! My noodle was ok. The meat have some smell to it. Lack of some flavor and little salty. My hubby meats combo was all sort of craziness. The ribs was okie, just no flavor and dry. The pork belly is dry and crispy and also bland. The worst was the brisket. It's like hard rock dry and super bland. The nice waiter came and check on us and we told him about it. He went in the kitchen and came back with a less dry brisket. The BBQ sauce make the food more edible. After seeing Buck Tui on Yelp, I finally had a chance to go last night with my girlfriend. I was really impressed with how much they care about what they do. It is such a fun blend of KC BBQ and Asian influences. We had the brisket Rangoons, wings, brisket plate and panaang pork belly. All came out in a very timely manner and our server was attentive and friendly. If I could go back, I would want to try more of the interesting entrees and less of the traditional BBQ plates. If I want really excellent BBQ, I'd go somewhere else. However, if I want that BBQ with a new twist I'd go to Buck Tui. read more

The location is beautiful with colorful table coverings and murals on the wall. We ordered Brisket Rangoons and Thai Sausage Dumplings. They were both so incredibly good. I'm not a fan of seafood so I was super happy to try the brisket rangoons. They had the right balance of cream cheese and meat. We split the Pad Thai Brisket and a Panang Pork Belly Plate. The sauce on the pork belly burnt ends was so good. It was like a peanut curry sauce. The pineapple fried sauce wasn't anything special but it was decent. The Pad Thai was phenomenal. Very expensive but unique and high quality food. For around $66, I got Panang pork belly burnt ends w Mac n cheese, half order of Thai burnt ends, half order of pork belly, and a side of the deliciously creamy ranch-like tiger cry sauce. The panang pork belly burnt ends had deliciously sweet Thai pickles, super moist wonderful rice, and chunks of kinda meaty kinda fatty but not the greatest or most juicy pork belly chunks with not spicy panang sauce. Not bad. The Mac n cheese was super rich and pretty good. This was about $26 which is crazy expensive. The Thai burnt ends were great! They weren't all super juicy but were mostly juicy and the sauces were good. The green vinegary spicy sauce was too salty but the "barbecue sauce" was phenomenal and perfectly sweet. It kinda tasted like it had tamarind in it. They were about $21. The pork belly came in large strips with the same two unique sauces. They were kinda dry and I wish they were more moist and juicy, but they weren't like crispy bacon dry. Not bad but not great for $18 or so. Love the unique take on bbq! read more

These were some of the best drunken noodles I've ever had. We also ordered the pad Thai brisket, which was rice noodle, smoked brisket, egg cabbage, beans, sprouts, scallions, peanuts, and lime. I never expected to say that after a stay in the Kansas City area, that one of my favorite places for a BBQ dinner would be a Thai influenced BBQ restaurant in Overland Park, KS. The whole experience at Buck Tui was amazing, made better by our server. He was overly efficient, and they probably had him covering half the front room, and he did it well. I felt going in that a Thai influence on BBQ would be a best of both worlds situation, and that was an understatement. The flavors on and in the meats, particularly the wings appetizer, kicked things up a notch. Their brisket was probably the leanest I had anywhere in the area this week. The fermented papaya salad was the most interesting of the appetizers, and an acquired taste. I couldn't stop eating the pad Thai that was one of our sides. We wanted sushi but failed to reserve in time so we picked this place. First of all if you think bbq and Thai food don't belong together you might be mistaken. What a nice and unexpected surprise! My cousin and I were on the BBQ trail and stopped by Buck Tui. Upon first bite, we knew it was something special. The ribs and the brisket were outstanding! The ribs were so tender, you could easily eat the little nubbin of cartilage at the end. You know, collagen! And the brisket was so soft and juicy! The bbq sauce and Thai spicy sauce added something unique and extremely flavorful! If we were staying in town longer, this would be the place I would want to revisit multiple times. We came here to celebrate a birthday and they were able to accommodate a party of 6 with no prior reservation which I really appreciated. The decor and patio are nice, with artwork tailored for Buck Tui in the restaurant and comfy seating that isn't too close to the people around. Our waitress was pleasant and provided some recommendations for the table. I was excited about the fusion aspect of the restaurant, but felt it fell flat. The brisket Rangoon were just okay, the pad Thai kind of just felt like pad Thai with brisket and the meat overwhelmed the dish a bit which is how we felt as well about the curry. I had the chicken dish which I thought they did very well, but the pickles were off which I found to be a disappointment. The pineapple fried rice was good mixed with the tiger sauce - a nice balance of sweet and spicy and the Mac noodles were cooked al dente with a great sauce and texture. Overall for the pricing I feel it's expensive, but would definitely go back for the chicken as it was cooked well and had a nice flavor.
