I come to this restaurant once a week before they went on vacation but ever since they came back from vacation, I am utterly shocked and disappointed of the portions of the food that I usually get is getting smaller and smaller. To the lady in the back saying "idc if they paid for extra beef this is all they're getting" in thai is extremely disappointing and are you ok? Was looking for food other than bbq while visiting Kansas. Went on Yelp to find Lana Thai. It was a Friday night and it was somewhat busy, however we were seated immediately. Served water and given time to look over menu. We ended up ordering chicken pad Thai and shrimp with vegetables. Pad Thai was very tasty and the chicken was delicious. The shrimp meal was amazing the sauce and veggies were so favorable and it was cooked perfectly. The Resturant is a little data however very clean. Wow! This place is a total joke in the wall and it didn't disappoint. The ambiance inside was a bit odd at first, not many people around and booths a bit close together, but it was clean and well decorated. The green curry was AMAZING with a fresh, spicy taste. I got medium and it had the perfect kick. The red curry was so flavorful too and all of the veggies were super fresh. Hands down, one of my favorite Thai restaurants in the KC/OP area! The food is always fresh, packed with flavor, and never disappoints. While the restaurant itself is small and not particularly fancy, the quality of the food more than makes up for it. Plus, the service is quick, so we never have to wait long for our meals. I highly recommend the Drunken Noodles (Pad Kee Mao), Chicken Khao Soi, and Red Curry--these are my absolute favorites. But honestly, everything on the menu is fantastic. Outstanding small Thai restaurant up at the Lenexa/Shawnee line serving up big flavor and fresh food! Whether you are staying in or getting your order to go, the food is made to your liking and everything I've had has been just right. I love Thai food and I almost always judge a spot's Pad Thai first. I figure that if the Pad Thai is a good, then most everything has a shot at greatness. Lanna's Pad Thai is right on target, blending all the right profiles with noodles and protein. We have ordered the Crab Rangoon, crispy wontons with a sweet heat sauce, the spring rolls, and more. Each dish is executed very well and is brimming with flavor. The spice level varies a bit, and medium, for me, usually is enough heat. Lanna Thai spices their food well, not overpowering (unless that's your thing), and the spice complements the dishes instead of dominating them. The Drunken Noodles are another hit, fresh & crispy veggies with the glass noodles in a savory & spicy sauce. Lanna is easy to find and the dining area is small but very well-appointed. i should preface this review to say that I ordered out*. i called the order in on a saturday evening, and the lady who picked up was helpful over the phone. i ordered chicken pad kee mow and asked about how their medium spice level compares to something like siracha. her response to the question was to suggest it is not spicy to her. when i continued to place my order with medium spice, she suggested i order mild but can add chili flakes to spice it up if need be. she placed these flakes on the side for me. when i went to pick my order up, the restaurant was very quiet aside from a small group of seniors. a gentleman manned the service counter and had my order ready when i gave him my name. all-in-all, you are reading about a very plain, but smooth and easy phone order experience. now, let's talk about the food. i felt like it was very flavorful -- almost too much flavor for my taste. i would highly recommend this spot to those (usually non-asians) who prefer to have a punchy oriental experience. my chicken pad kee mow was dripping in sauce. it was garnished nicely with chicken, eggs and their prescribed vegetables, so i was quite pleased with the latter. for the food, i would rate the experience as ordinary/average. while i do not plan to return (particularly because it is normally a far drive from home for a pricier yet average food experience), i would also not stop anyone else from coming here. read more

I love their pad sen mee, the tiny noodles are so satisfying! Great flavor too with all the peppers and sauce. Always had fine service here and the inside is very cute and bright, with nice decorations for the holidays. I have gotten takeout here several times as well and never had an issue with the order. It is packaged nicely and still warm when I get it. I would be careful not to let it tilt though, because there is a lot of good sauce that could tip out. read more

Lanna Thai was open on Easter and we enjoyed their decorations! They had themed decorations and made the restaurant look oh so cute! I got my usual order of Pad See Eaw with chicken and medium spice. The noodles and seasoning are the perfect amount of chewy and spicy. Pad See Eaw is like drunken noodles without the basil and bell peppers. They gave us 4 assortment of spices which I've never gotten the past few times I came but it was such a nice gesture. The waiter added the chili flakes onto my meal at the table and stirred it up for me to get that medium spice level. There were peppers, jalapeños, and chili oil. The Midwest generally boasts the worst and least authentic Thai food I've ever had. (Crab Rangoon, anyone?) As someone who has eaten a lot of Thai food over the past 40 years, trying to find good Thai has been extremely disappointing since moving here. My disappointment ended with Lanna Thai, an unassuming little strip mall hole in the wall in Shawnee. The food was extremely flavorful, clean and perfectly cooked. The service was excellent and we received our order very quickly. Thai food is not expensive to make and the prices were very fair, unlike some of the other Thai places I've visited in the KC area. I ordered my dish hot, and to my delight and surprise- it really was!! Usually I have to add a lot more spice for the heat level I am looking for. The literal only thing that could have been better is homemade wide noodles, which just doesn't seem to be a thing out here. Regardless, I will definitely be back. This place is legit and I'm really happy it exists. P.S. don't worry, Midwest natives, they still have your crab Rangoon. read more

Saw this restaurant had good ratings on Yelp and decided to try it. Great find. I had cashew chicken medium spicy and my husband had Pad Kee Mow chicken. Both were excellent and spicy like we like it. Ambiance wasn't great but we got in on a Friday night and there were lots of tables available. Best thing was the price.
