Loved it - went with my teens for a Sunday lunch. The boy ATE and ATE, making up for the girls' smaller appetites. I would have paid over 20 each for this lunch. They were nice workers, a HUGE buffet, 95% looked excellent - a very few items a bit dry (corn on the cob). There was shrimp, steak, churros, cupcakes, tons of meats, mexican foods, every carb your grandma ever considered cooking - like a carnival for your tummy. Can't wait to try the breakfast. read more

Tried this specific Golden Corral for the 1st time on a Sunday early afternoon, we normally frequent the one in the Northland. This location DOES NOT give a military discount and the senior citizen discount isn't worth asking for either. They offer horchata which is different and lot of Hispanic dishes. The salad bar also has deviled eggs. The steak however had a....smell to it. Smelled like old meat before it was even cut into. The cashier has a bad attitude (young gentleman) but our server (Meran) was amazing and attentive. We won't be returning to this location in the future, we'll stick to the tried and true one in the Northland. read more

VERY HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE FROM THIS RESTAURANT MOST ESPECIALLY TO THE MANAGER NAMED BERNIE!!!!!!!! I'm extremely disappointed with the way my family was treated at this restaurant. We came in hoping to enjoy a simple meal together, but instead we were embarrassed and told to leave. Instead of showing understanding or empathy, the manager refused to let us in. She repeated "no outside food," even after we explained it was disability-related. Then she told us we needed to leave immediately. The inside of this restaurant is so disgusting I don't know how they keep passing health inspections. I literally want to throw my shoes away after walking on the original never before cleaned or replaced carpet that is black and has been taped back together. My husband grew up eating at Golden Corral in SW KS where it was clean and it was somewhat cafeteria style with the buffet areas as well, and still likes to indulge every once in a while. While not being top notch food you can usually make a good salad and find a few items to fill up on. Have as much hot fudge on your ice cream as you want. Most of the food isn't worth feeding to an animal anymore. Four visits ago I went to the bathroom and there was poop on the inside door of the stall and despite the rest of the restaurant being disgustingly dirty and nasty the poop finally did me in and I've had 0 desire to eat here since. My husband had been requesting this place recently so I finally decided to let him get it out of his system. I had gastric bypass and can't eat but about 1 measuring cup of food at a meal. The office that did my surgery gave me a card that explains this and it politely asks to allow me to order a kids meal or get a discount price. I rarely pull this card out because I can eat the leftovers for three more meals or give it to my adult son to finish. But at a buffet I pull it out because I can't take leftovers. Chinese buffet's charge me a child buffet and keep their eyes on me. I'm fine with that. They can do what they need to. I cannot sneak more food into me! I have been to this Golden Corral three times since surgery and the bathroom door poop. The first time I sat with my husband and watched him eat. I wasn't hungry and was still disgusted. The second time they begrudgingly obliged with a senior citizen price. Today I showed the card and the cashier told me that they don't do this. When I told her then I won't eat she told me I would have to leave. I looked at my husband and said I'll be outside you go ahead and eat. He decided to leave too. I get that some people will try to steal a meal and they need to keep that in check but wouldn't it be in the best interest of a disgusting restaurant to accommodate gastric bypassed customers somehow than to turn customers away with the sub par food and disgusting insides of this building? Gastric bypass is a very common surgery now (probably due to buffet's) and it should be a consideration not a completely banned issue. They could mark the receipt they leave on the table so the waiter knows that person isn't eating or keep their eyes out for overeating, give the damn discount, stamp on the hand, a plastic bracelet. But according to the reviews this place isn't out to provide customer service, cleanliness or great food. I will not go back because I have my principles too! I'm not paying full price for one cup of sub par food in a nasty disgusting restaurant that can't figure out how to manage different situations but instead it's YOU HAVE TO LEAVE. More than happy to! After waiting in line for 10 mins in the steaks with my mom, I was denied a piece of steak for defending my mom. For context, she was handed her piece & asked for a smaller one & the man serving the steaks said "there's more people in line" with a rude voice. While I tried to explain to him that we are waiting in line to get the steak how we liked, he neglected to give me a piece & demanded I go talk to the manager. There should be something less than 1 star. We used to come to this place a lot before Covid. We decided to stop in this evening. Yes, of course the prices have gone up but that is pretty much in par with everybody else. The salad bar had lots of brown lettuce, and many of the other toppings were at the bottom of the container. I suppose that since we got there at 7pm and they close at 9pm they figured: why put out fresh? Many of the meats were overcooked, likely from being under the hot lights too long. Likewise, the baked potatoes were brown on the inside from being out too long. The bread rolls were very good but I didn't pay $15 to eat just bread rolls. The worse thing was: There was a group of about 12 with 4 kids under the age of 8. The kids were running wild around the buffet. The daughter with VERY long hair was spinning around getting her hair into the buffet food. The slightly older boy was using the serving utensils as his tasting spoon, trying out each food (mainly the desserts) on the buffet. When I spoke with our server about this, she said she would inform the manager. We sat there and ate only salad because these kids were not at the salad bar (these kids, like most don't like salad), but we did not once see the manager. We guessed that this late in the evening, he/she didn't want to start replacing food and was just hoping we would leave without causing a scene. The kids were also touching the ice cream machine and Icee machine by putting their fingers up the spouts and laughing about it. Their youngest child, likely age 5 was on a scooter zooming around inside the restaurant. We were sure some old person was going to get tripped by this kid. Yes, the parents were oblivious to what their children were doing and letting the children use the restaurant as their playground. There are many people who do not parent their children, but the restaurant should have done something about it when it was reported. We sat there a total of about 35 minutes, did not leave a tip, and then finally left. I can see why this restaurant has some terrible reviews. Obviously, we will not be coming back. For starters, we hadn't eaten here in a few years. Because the food was sub par, and manager was very rude, and downright nasty. But recently a friend wanted to go so we went on Wensday afternoon. At least the manager, a lady was pleasant. But that's where the experience went down from there. The taco meat wasn't hot, it was cold. Neither was the baked potatoe it wouldn't even melt the butter. I asked for a price of steak, and was given a piece of pork chop, but hey at least mine wasn't charded like my friends, it looked like a bricket. Rude and unwelcoming. My partner wanted to go here ... and I agreed even though I'm vegan. When we entered, we were asked "how many"? We said "one" and explained I would not be eating. The lady huffed, scowled, and actually threw her hands up as she griped about us to the cashier. He then barked at us saying I was not allowed to enter if I wasn't paying for a meal. We tried to explain our situation a second time, but he just reiterated himself louder and with more contempt. The assumption of food theft was clear ... as if they might get cheated out of a crappy dish of gelatin or a stale roll. So we chose to leave. This is my first Yelp review. Ever. Let it be known: This location heavily enforces "no outside drink," as I was forced to return my coffee to my car or be refused service. Had my two children under 3 with me and had to leave and return to be seated. Then, once we had sat down with our party who had already arrived, it was an absolute no-go/serious issue that we sat my toddler at the head of the table, which is also "unallowed due to policy"... I've never had so many issues, ever, attempting to get seated at another establishment in the area in the past decade. Guys, you're Golden Corral, not the Taj Mahal. The coffee comes free with the meal, I was literally saving you money and a pour, as well as paying the same amount to get in anyhow. I could have gone to countless local businesses who I wouldn't even account as rivals, considering difference in quality, and have 0 issues. Otherwise, food and service was fine (better than in the early 2000s for sure), but you don't reach excellence through enforcement of policies which raise unnecessary tensions to persuade people not to return. This Golden Corral has had it's ups & downs, but I'd definitely say that lately it's better than it's been in a long time. The food is fresh, hot, & they keep the buffet full, especially during busy times. My only complaints are that they barely ever open both lines for getting in, where u 1st get your drink & pay. I stood in line twice this month, waiting quite awhile, while they only ran one cash register during a dinner rush. That & the prices on the weekends are kinda absurd. I had a water flask that I brought it in and the manager would not allow me to bring it into the restaurant. She said if she let me do it she would have to let everyone do it. soooo? My container had my filtered water from my home in it. I know what our tap water has in it and I'm not going to drink tap water or buy your bottled water. Went with a family of 4: The person cooking the steaks was rather rude to a lot of people; smarting off and being a general prick. It wasn't called for. He serviced line jumpers but not the people patently waiting. I had to go back in line because he wouldn't serve my son. When he say me give the cheap steak to my son, he got pissed and yelled. Management is the worst. BERNIE specifically is so disrespectful and entitled, that I would never recommend anyone I know to go here. When charged I told her that I was in for the Early Bird Seniors. She barrated me in line in front of your other customers, that I should have advised her. She continued bararting while correcting the charge. I was looking at the menu and charges and felt rushed and she just went ahead and charged me for a non senior amount. I'm 75 so there is no doubt that I qualified for a senior rate. This honestly felt like a skam to get more moneys. The food was just ok. I also think I should mention that the restroom stunk! I never go to these. I am not a fan of anywhere where the food sits out! I can't even really tell you why we stopped here. But, guess what! I'll be going back. Everything was good. Of course I picked and chose through the myriad of dishes. I also wasn't expecting world class. What I got was comfort food that filled me up and allowed me many tastes. I am partial to the Meatloaf and the mashed potatoes. But was also able to grab some prime rib. And ham. And Jambalaya. And chocolate pie. And... you get the picture. It is not the best food you have ever eaten... and if it is "better than your mom used to make" then I am sorry for you! But, it was tasty and the staff worked hard to refresh the buffet constantly. My only complaint (rant) has nothing to do with the restaurant itself. Buffets are made for adults. If you take your children that is great... but your seven year olds don't need to run around the restaurant while you eat your food off to one side. If they aren't tall enough to get their own food perhaps you as a parent should go with them! Staff was very friendly and attentive. I couldn't be more upset with the service my family and I received today! The cashier asked how many people I was paying for and she was informed 6 adults and 2 children ($112). One person from our party, my 73 year old mother, was still in the car finishing up a urgent call. When my mom came in, the host said she needed to see the receipt and called for the manager who walked back with my mom. Instead of walking into the back enclosed room to speak with me directly, she stood out in the common areas next to the desserts. I gave the receipt to my daughter who gave it to her. She then refused to give it back to my daughter saying she needed to count everyone And proceeded to count, including a man who wasn't in our party, but was waiting to exit back to the buffet. Other members from our party had already gone to fix their plates. I then got up from my seat at the far end back table to go speak with her directly versus across the entire room! My daughter said her demeanor was rude and disrespectful toward my 73 year old mother and she was insinuating that she was trying to steal food and didn't pay. She wanted us to sit at the table so that she could count us -- like children! As if to say that senior citizens like my mother would lie, even though a receipt was presented. Susie was pointing her finger in my daughters face and speaking rudely to my mother. When my daughter put her finger in the woman's face in return, she got loud yelling she "wasn't the one". WE determined it was time to go and wanted a refund, and Susie agreed. When I asked for a manager, she said she was the manager. She would only tell me her name Susie, and refused to properly identify herself. A young woman also asked her what's her name laughingly while the refund was being processed! Another employee identified her as Susie Areola, and when asked if that was her last name, she corrected us saying how to pronounce her name -- the same name she didn't want to give! She proceeded to tell me that they don't allow pre-pay, after we'd already completed the payment on the way in. Her demeanor and attitude were beyond unprofessional! She completely lacked professionalism from the beginning to end of our interaction. So, while the hostess rung up a party of 8 guest for a total of $112..while 1 of our guest (my mom, 73 year old woman) was still in the car, lagging back finishing up a urgent call, I said this, is A TRAINING ISSUE. This woman, now known as Susie Arreola, who presented herself as the GM, looked at our receipt and insisted that she needed to see ALL 8 OF us. Because everyone was headed toward the buffet and I had already sat down with 2 of my grandkids, this was going to be easy, but NOT RIGHT AWAY. I witness This GM, Susie Aerolla, ....this same name that she didnt want to provide as well as her worker NEO who was a Hispanic man and refused to give her full name, but also said Susie was the general manager. We come often, perhaps to often some would say. The food is decent, the prices are good...it can be healthy if you balance what you eat. But the main reason we come is because of one incredibly hard working server. She always greets EVERYONE with a smile and a kind word. She takes care of her entire section equally no matter the circumstances. There are very few others in this establishment who work as hard as she does. Only reason I give this place 4 stars....WTG M! We went to Golden Corral in Olathe, ks with all the kids and grandkids for fathers day 2023 with our family of 15. One of our grandkids (age 10) has EXTREME food allergies so they brought safe food for him to eat in a small little lunch cooler. They made his dad pay for him even though they explained he could not eat ANYTHING they offered. They no more got to a table and here came the general manager. She told them the boy was not allowed to eat the special prepared food in the restaurant and to take it out. Not only was she loud, rude and unempathetic to the family she did all this in front of the child who was seconds from tears of embarassment. I went over to have a talk with her and she blew up telling me fine let him eat, but if anything happens its on us and she was not giving the money back. We werent asking for money back, just to let the child eat with the rest of us. She was making no sence at all. The boy brings food to every restaurant they go to and they have never been told he can't eat there. Hopefully they change their policy to make accommodations for people in these situations. We will not be going back. Update: I reached out to corporate and was told my complaint was sent to the district president. Its been crickets since. read more

I hadn't been to GC for quite some time due to hearing not good things about the place. But I'm glad I experienced it for myself. It must be under new management as the manager on duty was friendly and his staff were smiling and everyone seemed eager to help each other. We went on a Saturday evening so it was busy but there wasn't any chaos. There were tons of great southern style food selections, salads, desserts, Italian food, and other expected buffet items. Please remember to tip the staff who come around to refill your water glasses and take away your dirty dishes. They make the overall experience good. read more

Only giving one star because zero is not available. We just had the absolute worst experience ever, and we're senior citizens. We were just refused service at this location. My wife and I were waiting at the register to pay for lunch. After taking our drink order, the staff person ordered my wife to cover her nose with her face covering. Bear in mind, my wife has chronic asthma and according to the mask mandate, she is exempt from wearing a mask, but she uses a bandanna type covering to appease folks. Evidently, her covering had slipped down below her nostrils, so when she untied it to adjust it upward, she informed the staff that she was exempt from wearing a mask because she had asthma. But before she could get out the word 'asthma', the staff jerked back the tray and said, "I will not serve you. You must leave now". I find this not only objectionable and unacceptable, but possibly illegal. We used to be regular patrons of GC at our former residence, but rest assured we will not patronize this location or any other location unless this type of behavior is corrected. read more

We had a horrible experience from the moment we stepped foot inside. We have five kids and there were literally zero large tables except for one that was trashed and not cleaned. So, we made our own and didn't bother anyone. The waitress was so rude to my husband and ordered him to put them back together. Didn't offer another table, didn't offer to help any other way. So our kids sat at a different table than us, no big deal. But the entire time she was absolutely rude to my husband, wouldn't talk to him or refill his drinks OR take his plates. Me and the kids were taken care of just fine. She acted like he didn't exist over a table. A TABLE. So on our way out I pulled her aside and told her what she did and was doing was unacceptable and that's why we left a zero tip. :) We drove thirty minutes because the kids wanted GC but we def will NEVER be going back. It wasn't the best selection, everything was pretty watery and not well taken care of sanitary wise. My six year old even refused most of the food because of it's looks and she's eats anything. Terrible customer service, beginning with the store manager, Bernie. The cashier, Rene, did not allow me to use my gift card, said after trying it 3 times he said it did not work and I had to use another method of payment. Not wanting to hold up those behind me any longer, I used my credit card. Upon sitting at a table, I called the 800# on the gift card and was able to verify there was a balance on the card for more than the cost of my meal. After eating, I went to the cashier to let him know that there was money on my gift card and I wanted my cc charge reversed and the amount taken off my gift card. No response from him, had to request it again, still says nothing. Finally a woman without a name tag comes and tells me 'HELL NO you are not getting a refund. You should not have used a credit card!' She would not tell me her name and the other workers in the cashier area would not answer my question about the manager's name. None of them would utter a single word! This was after I had asked for the woman's name, she told me she didn't need to tell me and told me to 'just leave.' I asked who her manager was and she told me she didn't have one. I told her she had to report to somebody as I knew she wasn't the owner. She then told me that I 'didn't know anything!' I was able to find out her name from another employee who was not in the area when Bernie was being so rude. She then sent Juan to the area to escort me out of the restaurant because she just wanted me out of there and did not want to answer any questions like 'what is your name?, who is your manager? why can't I get a credit on my credit card and the money taken off my gift card?' There were many more words exchanged, mainly from Bernie and not nice at all. The customer service there is non existent, a 0 rating is still too high for them. read more

Food is great, the manager is horrible. My sister has autism and has a habit of bring the bible with her all the time. My sister was reading her bible after she finish her lunch and the manger saw her. The horrible woman yelled at my sister for brining in a bible. When my sister tried to stand up and leave, she told my sister to sit still and not move. We were going to call the cops, but other employees were trying to smooth things out for her.
