This place stinks. It's about.7:00 on Sunday, December 28th, 2014. I have just.been seated with my party after an interminable wait. Waiting for a table is no big deal. Waiting for a table while watching empty tables go unused is unforgivable. I don't care how the food is. I'm disgusted with the hostess staff and complete cluster of dining room management that the food will not be able to turn this disaster around. Is there a way to give negative stars on Yelp?!! I just moved to the area about a month and a half ago. My fiancee and I have been trying different restaurants around town. Both chain and local restaurants. Cheddar's, so far, is the worst. I ordered their bacon cheeseburger and she ordered the chicken pot pie. Here were the problems with both the meal and the service: Burger: unseasoned. It was bland and greasy Pot pie: She said it was 'ok', but because it was soupy, a spoon would have been nice. Our waiter, Justin, didn't make an effort to offer one. Many would say "why didn't you ask?" Why should we have to ask? Did he not know the texture of the pot pie? Service: Justin seemed like he wanted to get us out of there as soon as possible. He never asked how the meal was. He never offered us refills. He didn't offer us dessert or coffee after the meal. When he brought the meals to the table, he quickly turned and walked away. We went at 3:30pm on a Friday; the place was NOT busy at all. Good service is a major part of any dining experience and this lack of service put a bad taste in our mouth (not to mention the burger!). The music was too loud, they got our order wrong, service was slow, and the quality of the food was just down right poor. There were four of us that went, we ordered 2 ribs and shrimp with loaded baked potato and green beans, the shepherds pie, and the spaghetti lasagna dish. Let's start with the ribs...boiled and then smoked and over done...the meat was very dry. The shrimp were good but the "southern" green beans looked and tasted like they came out of a can that had been on the shelf for 10 years...they were pale, soggy, and tasteless. One of the baked potatoes came to the table with so much sour cream it flowed over the sides of the potato and on the other it looked like the sour cream was curdled. On a whole the shepherds pie was good but it was brought out basically cold. I'm not sure what was in the spaghetti lasagna dish looked great but after a few bites my daughter said it tasted funny, so I took a bite and I can't quite put my finger on what it was but it tasted similar to dishwashing soap. Overall, I was really disappointed in my visit. My parents and I sat in the bar, and everything (and I mean EVERYTHING) was filthy and down right grimy. From the drink menus, to the salt shakers, even the backs of chairs, there was a slight film of greasy nastiness that clung to everything. Our waitress was nice enough, but she definitely needed a change of shirt. It was gray with old food stains everywhere. Ew. On to the food, it was alright, better than a Applebee's, but nothing that would blow my mind away. I got the chicken and shrimp with rice and everything was....okay. My dad got the baked potato soup which he said was good and a club sandwich, which also looked decent. My mom got the chicken pot pie which looked pretty good. Visited twice. First time was a snowstorm and the restaurant was quite empty. Our server however was quite NOT interactive, especially since he had plenty of time to interact. I think a trained monkey would have been friendlier and made us smile a bit more. The food however was good. On our second visit, the server had much more personality, but was sort of absentee. He and/or the kitchen were slow. But it must have been him because it took 20 minutes to get our check and we NEVER got soft drink refills. Again the food was pretty good. Both times, the chicken strips seemed to be breaded, frozen fried chicken. Tasty all the same. The steak was good, not great, but good. The appetizer sampler, was tasty, but it's also tough to mess up mozz sticks, potato skins and frozen chicken tenders. So far, we're 0 for 2. Not a recommended restaurant. read more

Decent food and decent service. Nothing special. Not a good option for vegetarians. The menu is large and has tons of dishes to choose from. With so many options on the menu, one would think there would be something for vegetarians. Since I am a vegetarian, the waitress recommended for me to get the vegetable plate. Looking at the menu, the "vegetable" plate wasn't even a plate of vegetables. It was actually a soup served with some side dishes. Here's the thing: all the soups have meat in them. The dish she recommended was not vegetarian friendly at all! Calling a dish a vegetable plate is very misleading when it is actually a just a soup with some sides. I decided to get the Asian chicken salad and asked for them to remove the chicken. The dish came with no chicken just like I had asked. The salad tasted fine. There was nothing too exciting about it. It was definitely a dish anyone could make at home. Nobody else at our table seemed too impressed with their dishes either. However, my brother got the chicken and waffles and really liked them. Other than that, there was nothing special about our meal. This is not a restaurant I would recommend for someone to go to, especially if they are a vegetarian. There are better places in the area that serve better food for a similar price. read more

It's honestly not a bad place to eat, but the only complaint I have is that it was almost like the cook swiped right on every fat cow there was on Tinder, finally matched with the fattest one he could find, then threw her on the grill. Well, the staff were good at their jobs. We were sat quickly and efficiently. The waitress was very polite. We got our food and that is when it went downhill. The appetizers were good, but our meals were a nightmare. They mixed our steaks up, the Mac n cheese for my side looked like it had sat under a heat lamp for about 20 minutes before they served it, the steak my friend got (which was supposed to be mine) was cold. More heat lamp effects making the plate hot but not keeping the food warm. And then after the food was given, the waiter disappeared into the abyss. Never to be seen again for another 30 minutes before our checks were dropped off. Now granted they were busy so maybe we were just unlucky, but nonetheless I will definitely hesitate before coming here again. read more

I've only been here once but I really enjoyed it. I got the chicken caesar salad and it was enormous! I had to take about half of it home with me. This is definitely a place to go if you want some comfort food and large portions. This place gets crowded so I don't recommend going if you are in a hurry, or just impatient. I'm from California and I LOVED this place. Atmosphere, check! Very reasonable pricing, check! Good food, double check! Perhaps the other reviewers on this site are a bit critical but from what I've experienced in Los Angeles and Orange County, Cheddars offers exceptional value reserved for restaurants that charge a lot more. I know a lot of people experienced hiccups with service and logistic of food being prepared but what I experienced wasn't the case. Food was great and came out in ample amount of time. I wish Cheddars came out to California. But until then, I'll have to make my way out to Misahwaka to experience the best value around town, Cheddars. read more

We went on a very busy Saturday night. There was a wait, but we expected it so no stress there. The service was so so. It took a while to get our drinks, and one of us waited a good 15 minutes for a mojito. They told us they ran out of glasses...what!? I'm not sure how that can happen at such a well established chain. I ordered chicken pot pie and husband had a lemon grilled fish. The food was good. Always enjoy chicken pot pie, and this one was not as salty as they can tend to be. Very nice. My Caesar appetizer was passable, but had a bit too much dressing. Our friends enjoyed their lemon chicken and pasta dishes as well. No complaints from them that I remember, except for the long wait time for a clean glass. LOL All in all it was a fair experience. I went to Cheddars with LOW expectations, given the reviews here. That's probably what pushes this up from 3 to 4 stars. It's not as bad as everyone is making it out to be. If 3.5 was an option, that's what I'd give it. The food we've ordered (especially the chicken tenders) has been delicious! It's really just the service that's lacking. The two times we've been, our servers were friendly. One was on top of her game, the other less so. We waited a bit for drinks (especially the ones from the bar, although the mango mojito tasted great) and for our order to be taken both time, but the food came out quickly. The last time they mistakenly gave me a baked potato for a side instead of mashed and were quick to take it back and bring out the correct order. Paying hasn't been an issue. We've been weeknights for dinner and in and out within an hour. Do I think this place is gourmet? No. Do I think it's good? Yes (and my teenage son really loves it). I could probably never drag my husband to a chain like this that's just glorified bar food, but it's been a fine place to visit hang out when he's out of town and I don't feel like cooking. read more

Came here for my 21st, and upon walking in we were told we had to wait in the little area right inside their front doors due to covid, because you know covid doesn't get you if your in a 10x10 glass room that probably isn't cleaned for covid after each guest waits in there. We get to our table and immediately am not impressed. There's food and a dirty napkin on the floor right at my seat, then when you touched the table your hand stuck to it (again if you put us in a small room you won't get covid but dirty tables don't give you covid either). Our waitress was very polite with us, and we were to her because the table being filthy wasn't her fault. We then were handed a wash rag and cleaned the table ourselves. Only when I used my razor knife to scrape the sticky stuff off the table did my hand not stick to it(see pic). We adore Cheddar's. It's sad to see so many negative reviews because we have only ever had good experiences here. We have observed the staff become overwhelmed at times but there have been multiple occasions where we walked through a crowded waiting area and presumably full restaurant yet been seated immediately. Maybe we're lucky, or maybe it's our irrepressible love for Cheddar's. The chicken tenders are seriously where it's at. They're not always at peak performance when we go but we order them every time. I could rank the chicken tenders from every Cheddar's visit in order of preference but even the "worst" possible tenders at Cheddar's is still leagues above what you could get elsewhere. Cheddar's tenders are best tenders. Anytime we meet someone in town who's never been, (after we recover from our shock and their foolishness) we have to take them here and initiate them into the sacred sect of Cheddar's. It's a must. I could say our experiences have been biased because we almost always go in groups, where we're just scrambling for time together to relax and the food is just a bonus. So the time for our meals to come out isn't really noticed or missed. Wait's always worth it for those tenders. read more

No pickles or lettuce on my burger, my fiance asked if the mashed potatoes came with skins in it (because she has gastroparesis) and the waiter said no. The potatoes had skins in it. We asked the waiter for a different side, but when it came out 20min. later we had already finished our meals, so he put it in a to go box! The glasses for our drinks were very dirty and we were never asked for refils. I asked for a refil, it came AFTER desert! Rediculously bad service this time. Food was ok. read more

Complete fail. We ordered our food at 11:50 to be ready at 2. It didn't get done until 2:30. It seemed like they completely forgot about it which is typical of a restaurant. It looked like half a piece of fish and a half a cup of rice. I asked for the dinner portion and when you order in the restaurant that's a whole piece of fish and a large portion of rice and then you get two sides. I asked for more rice and broccoli. The rice in the photo is not even the full portion of what comes with the fish. So they skimped on the fish and the rice. I haven't looked at the broccoli and I don't want to. I would never suggest ordering takeout here. Unless you have time to check your food and ask them to remake it because I guarantee you they're going to have to. I was looking forward to it because it's good when you're eating there. But when you're ordering takeout and they don't have to deal with you sticking around they seem to take advantage of your inability to complain. I work at Whole Foods and even I make better food than that and I work in a deli. They only have three stars to begin with. Seems like building credibility and a reputation of consistency isn't a main concern for them. Waste of money and time. read more

Things to not look forward to: the confused look on everyone's faces as we wait a half hour to receive our drinks, an hour after for food, and the appetizer we ordered with our drinks arriving after our entree. My impression is that while this place may be going through some growing pains, it could do with a complete revamping of its efficiency model. Dining guests were clearly frustrated, servers acted like they didn't want to be there, and I didn't spot a single floor supervisor or manager anywhere. I went to Cheddar's for the first time after hearing a lot about it from a friend who had been before, however, this friend went to a Cheddar's in Nashville, TN - that may be what made the difference. My friend raved about the chicken tenders, but I opted to go with a chicken dish that came with Dijon mustard and mushrooms. I like them both but never had them together and now I know why, those two things don't go together in a meal. The chicken was tender and juicy and my sides were nice, but they could've nixed the Dijon and maybe used a different type of gravy to top the chicken that would actually taste good with mushrooms. A family favorite of ours! Service is always outstanding, staff if very friendly and prompt even on busy Saturday nights. The dimly lit atmosphere is nice for dinners and our kids always enjoy the large fish tank and oversized rotating fan. Food is always excellent!
