Scratch is right, scratch it from your dining list. Ate there last night with a large party, so the manager helped our server take the orders. I wanted steak, salad and baked potato. Was promptly informed that they do not have 1000 island dressing nor do any Cheddar's serve it. Think about what this means, evidently no ketchup,mayonnaise. Pickles or any cook knowledgeable enough to make the dressing. At other restaurants when 1000 island is not on the menu, the server reply is we can make you a small bowl. Ended up getting cold fish, fries but with a good coleslaw. Chain restaurants are chain restaurants. Go local to mom and pop locations, where they still know how to cook. read more

This is a 3 star restaurant but because of the good price and value I'm giving it 4 stars. The quality of the food is ok. Implying that it's scratch/homemade southern cooking is kind of ludicrous. I had the salmon with broccoli and cheese casserole and beans and rice. The salmon although small was decent. Broccoli and cheese casserole was good. Beans and rice tasted salty and processed. My wife also said her chicken dish was on the salty side and not a very generous portion. We like Cheddars ok but again nothing really special here. read more

I love the food at Cheddar's but thier service is highly lacking. I've been to Cheddar's resuratmts in other areas and was super excited that there is now one here. The food is always amazing and the menu has so much to offer. Pretty much anyone can find something they want. Sadly thier service is Meh to Dear god please send me a server. Thier waitstaff is very inatentive. The last time we went we saw our server 3 times. Once for her to take our order, once to bring us drinks,and once to bring us our check moments after we had gotten our food. Another waitress refilled our drinks and brought our food out. We were never asked if our food was ok or if we wanted anything else and I was set to order dessert that day. Before the other waitress asked if we wanted refills I sat with an empty glass for around 15 minuets. The food is wonderful but be prepared not to really see a waitperson and/or having to go ask a hostess or bartender if you need something extra. WOWOWOWOWOWOWOWOOWWWWWW! I've been the cheddars several times in several different locations and I have NEVER been let down. I have always gotten great food, for great prices, with great service, and this location did NOT let down. A group of friends and I came in a little closer to closing than I would usually, however, our waitress was so kind, patient, and attentive. She even recommended things that paired great with out order!!! Absolutely phenomenal service. If you're a picky eater, you cannot go wrong with their chicken strip meal. First off, one order can last you a solid three meals. They are NOT stingy here! You DEFINITELY get what you pay for. My absolute favorite thing on the menu is the honey butter croissants! I would eat those things for breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert, snacks, and as an alcohol replacement. They're THAT good. I can't wait to go back!!!!! read more

If you're looking for ALOT of food at a very good price, then Cheddar's is the way to go. The portions are hard to conquer as are the prices. The wait staff is always pleasant and the speed of service is surprisingly quick given how packed it usually is. That does lead into the two knocks on Cheddar's - it is usually wall to walk people in there and the options for vegetarians and/or healthy diners are very limited. I had my first visit to Cheddar's last week and was I was super impressed with everything from the ambiance to the food. We were seated quickly as we arrived just before the dinner rush. The restaurant was loud but the noise was average because the booths were higher and helped block the noise. Our server was at our table within minutes and took our drink and appetizer order. We started with the Triple Treat and it was the perfect variety for our party of 4. We all enjoyed different entrees and were impressed with the flavor and size. From ribs and shrimp to chicken breast, everything was cooked perfectly. We also enjoyed a Free Queso (thanks to a coupon) and it was delicious. There was room for dessert and the chocolate chip cookie was the perfect ending to our meal. Even though they were packed, our server never rushed us and even brought us drinks to go. We will be dining again at Cheddar's and our only regret is we waited so long to try it out. read more

My lunch visit yesterday was fantastic!!! My coworker had the onion rings and quesadilla. I shared her onion rings and the quesadilla looked amazingly delicious. I had salad and potato soup. The soup was so filling and delicious. The salad was exceptional with the freshest croutons and the most mouth watering blue cheese dressing I've ever tasted. Oh and the coffee!!! Cheddars is a place I visit when in need of "comfort food" the prices are economical and the portions are generous. I did notice the catfish is no longer on the menu it is called white fish. My dinner was well prepared I had the blackened white fish on the light menu and it was delicious. Calorie content is listed on all food items and I find that to be valuable especially those of us trying to eat healthy and in search of comfort food. read more

I have never left a review of a restaurant in the 36 years of my life. This will be a first. On the way back home from Dollywood on 09/06/2020 around 9:15pm 4 of us stopped at Cheddars on Clinton Highway to have dinner. 3 of us ordered steaks, and one ordered steak and chicken tenders combo. The first issue happened when they brought out the dinner they informed us they were out of baked potato's and what other side would we prefer instead. Again this happened once the food was already delivered to the table. Now the entire reason for this review. Half way thru eating our steaks, one of us found a LIVE BUG, that was also enjoying the steak. (See attached photo). Immediately we all stopped eating, and asked to see the manager. Phil Colbert was the manager that evening and came over to the table. We showed him the plate and his exact words were "Well that's odd". I informed him we all were not eating another bite and that we would pay for the 1 alcoholic beverage that 3 of us had. He seemed very surprised that the other 3 of us were not going to finish our meals. Furthermore there was NO apology, he didn't seem shocked this had happened, and we walked outside and left the small amount of food we had digested in the bushes. We all were absolutely disgusted. This was once one of my favorites restaurants for years. I've been to many locations and averaged at least 4 visits per month. Unfortunately since Darden corporation has taken over, the food quality has declined. There were many favorites with one being the world classic chicken sandwich which is now The bacon maple chicken sandwich is no longer my favorite. The honey lime mustard was great and no longer available. I had a server tell me just the other day that she has heard this from many other customers with several complaints compared to how are used to be. After my last recent visit and giving it several chances since the buyout I will no longer be coming back to cheddars scratch kitchen. read more

Well this was supposed to be a nice birthday dinner for our son but went downhill after the salad. We ordered steak, salmon and veggies. We all ordered baked potatoes. When the entrees arrived ,they steak was cold and we were informed that the baked potatoes were not ready and would be about 5 minutes. 10 minutes later they arrived after our entrees were already finished and still the potatoes were not cooked. The waiter brought the manager out as he could tell we were not thrilled. She was not very sympathetic but did take 10% off the bill. Our drinks were mostly ignored and service was slow. I recommend the location on Kingston pike it's so much better. I ordered the same dish and at the Clinton highway location, and my bourbon glazed salmon was overcooked, dry, and bland. My fries were cold and my mac n cheese was bland. even the the drinks were watery as if they just diluted them to be assholes. Also the waiter was sexist towards my wife, and service was slow. We waited for 30 minutes for the waiter to come back after he asked us if we wanted a few more minutes. And once he finally decided to show up we waited another 45 minutes for our food. So far it's only this location that I wouldn't recommend go to Kingston pike. It's worth the drive west. read more

Chedders is the best value and the speed of service at this restaurant is un matched. With as busy and fast as there staff is I do have to say it is also one of the cleanest restaurants I've been to. Portions that large that come to you in minutes is a modern day miracle in 2020!! You won't leave this restaurant unsatisfied. Eat Chedders! read more

Wanted a nice warm meal and good food hot the light side grilled chicken with rice and 2 sides. What I got was grilled marked, pressed microwave chicken, which was tasteless. I cant believe a nice restaurant would even consider that would be ok to serve. The vegetables were warm and ok. My husband and I live maybe five minutes from this location, and this is one of our usual choices for a dinner out because of convenience. While we're usually somewhat dissatisfied with the service (it seems like a chronic Knoxville condition affecting servers in most restaurants we've been to here), tonight was a completely different story! We were greeted by a friendly smile from a young woman who actually looked like she enjoyed her job. She was very friendly and made a huge effort to make sure our orders would come out correct. This is a particularly big deal for me considering I'm currently Paleo, so my order for a burger was a bit complicated. However, she took it down exactly as I asked, then made sure to put the bread and croutons on the side of my salad instead of on my salad without me even having to ask. She was great! The only negative thing about the experience tonight was that the smokehouse burger I ordered was slightly overlooked (medium well rather than medium) but was still juicy and tasty. We go to cheddars often because I simply love the monster cookie & Jenn the bartender always takes amazing care of us. Tonight we came in and waited at the bar for 13 mins without any service. Even went up and talked to the manager and let him know we hadn't been helped after he had walked by and saw we hadn't been greeted and there was no bartender in sight. Even after letting him know of the situation he never came over to even grab us waters or get our order working while waiting on the bartender to return, instead we sat waiting. When the bartender on duty showed up Jazzmin she took our order. I never received my water, we got the sample appetizer and the cheese dip and chicken tenders were ice cold, we were desperately hungry so we tried to struggle through it. We gave in and asked if we could have the dip heated up and she obliged. We then ordered my favorite thing the monster cookie. It came out without the caramel or the nuts that are usually on it, so we asked for the nuts. We sat there waiting and decided to go ahead and eat it.. the ice cream was extremely freezer burned and by the time she returned with the nuts we were pretty much done. I am a server myself so I am more than understanding when it comes to situations while eating out. Not to mention instead of asking if we wanted another drink or simply anything else she sat our check down and walked away. My wife and I used to be regulars when this place first opened. Over time it went down hill a bit. Decided to try it again tonight. Man was that a mistake. I ordered a philly cheese steak sandwich. The bread was so stale and dry that I just ate the meat and cheese. Fries weren't bad so I guess that was a bonus. I was hungry though and really don't like sending food back so I just made the best of it. Also ordered the grilled chicken alfredo for my lunch tomorrow. Got home and opened it to put it in a microwave dish for tomorrow and low and behold no CHICKEN. None. Not one piece. WTF? And the vegetables are basically raw as well. My dog wouldn't eat this garbage. My wife called and the guy promised to make it right but crap. I'm home now and have to scramble for something for lunch tomorrow. Seated promptly and server Amy was excellent very attentive. Did not get a chance to advise server of the food as my guest told me after we left. The Food was fair. The French fries that my guest had tasted rancid and the sweet potato was mushy and lacked flavor of cinnamon or brown sugar. The chicken tenders were pretty good and the spinach dip was good. Had great service as always. It was busy, as most Saturdays are, but we were seated in less than 30 minutes. We had a group of 5, and everyone ordered something different. Terrible experience at Cheddars off of Merchants/Clinton Hwy. we usually enjoy Cheddars because of the affordability and decent food. However, today I ordered the key west chicken and shrimp and the broccoli was my side and it came out with MOLD on it. I asked to speak with the manager and she offered to replace the meal. Little did she know I had taken a picture of the meal before I found the mold to BRAG about the restaurant. She comes back out and serves me the SAME everything but the broccoli. I then asked her if this was a new entree or just new broccoli. She said it was all freshly made. I showed her the picture and told her the grill marks are exactly the same and a piece of pepper is on the same spot of the chicken. It was very obviously the same food. I even noticed that a shrimp that had made its way under the sauce container was STILL there! So, it was even on the same plate that the moldy broccoli was on. She basically stood there and flat out argued with me about it in front of 10 other people until I handed her the plate and said I wanted to leave. My husband didn't even get to finish his meal and we were charged for every dime of everything else except my entree. I'm in absolute disbelief that she handled things that way. read more

Went here for the first time Sunday with my mom for lunch. Truth be told, this place was solid all the way around. The server hooked my mom up on the lunch special, gave her two half clubs and a salad at no additional charge! I had the Monte Cristo and fries and they load you down, don't skimp on the meat at all. The place had a nice ambiance, playing some great jazz fusion when we walked in. This is basically a family oriented. Chain restaurant, but much better than Applebee's, TGIFs, Ruby Tuesday. Good place to go after church, not sure about a sports event. Prices were very reasonable for portions and quality, would certainly return to this place/chain in the future. read more
