Every time my wife and I go here, we get the chicken tenders and Philly cheese steak. It's our little once-a-month treat. The food is always perfect. Hot, delicious, and pretty fast considering the crowds. The icing on the cake is always the impeccable service we get from any of the servers. This is the only place that we eat where we can throw a $15 tip on the table and feel good about it as we stroll our stuffed selves back to the truck. Highly recommended. Order the Island Tiki as my cocktail, wonderfully amazing drink. The flavors just really come out well and are well balanced. For my entree I had an 8oz steak with Mac and cheese and a loaded baked potato. Let's talk about the sides, that Mac and cheese was to die for, great cheesy profile. The potato was cooked to perfection with a plentiful supply of butter and sour cream. The steak was ok but not the best. It was eatable but the seasoning was kind of clumped up on the outside in the middle rather than spread over the steak, almost like it was seasoned close up. The steak was also pretty dry, not bone dry, but not as juicy as I expected from a steak. Overall a great experience and great food, the steak will keep them from getting four stars from me though. read more

We had an out of town guest for the weekend, an decided to take him out to dinner tonight, He had never heard of Cheddars, so we decided to treat him to dinner. My wife ordered a chicken tender salad. It was OK. My guest and I both ordered the county fried steak. The steak that our guest was served had 2/3 more breading than the size of the steak. My steak had about 1/4 more breading than the size of the steak. The waiter came by and asked how everything was. Our guest showed our waiter the large empty piece of breading, and our waiter said he would send a manager over. When the manager did come to the table, she didn't seem interested. She looked at the large pile of empty breading. and only said "I'm sorry". This is a poor way to treat customers. My wife have eaten at this location on many occasions, and this is the third problem we have had in the past year. I would suggest that you need to educate your managers on customer service. We are regulars at this Cheddars. The food is always excellent but the service is hit or miss. Once we waited 45 minutes for our food on a slow night, but the manager took 50% our meal and comped us an appetizer on our next visit. Positives: Cooked to order food is all very well prepared. Waitstaff is courteous and attentive. The place seems to be very clean. Their seasoned, steamed broccoli and fresh croissants are excellent. Their dressings are still made in-house; I *highly* recommend the honey-lime. Their décor is decent; I especially like the plants and large tropical fishtank. Negatives: When they opened, one couldn't get a toe in the front door. They could have added a second storey, and a second restaurant right next door and would still have had people waiting. These days there is almost never a wait. Why? Because they went WAY down in ingredient quality. For example, their salads used to have Spring mix, baby carrots, grape tomatoes, and good, fresh croutons. Now, they are using a bagged iceberg lettuce with bits of shaved purple cabbage and carrots, small-diced regular tomatoes, and boxed croutons. They only have three vegetarian offerings: a fairly low-fat, low protein vegetable plate (and beware, the rice is not vegetarian), the super high-fat baked spasagna (a brick of spaghetti baked with mozzarella cheese, with choice of meat, marinara, or Alfredo sauce plopped on top), and the dieter's intermediate, plain pasta (spaghetti or fettuccine, again with the same three sauce choices). Though they have out-door seating, there is *no* shade, nor protection from the wind or slight drizzles. They need some landscaping trees put in. but otherwise, their outdoor décor is peace inducing. read more

Awful! I love Cheddars every where else, but this location is horrible. If I could give negative stars I would. My potato soup was cold, sent it back and got the next bowl with the potatoes still hard/raw and it tasted as if it was going bad. The lettuce that came with my quesadilla was brown on all the edges. My mother always told me to make my words tender in case I ever had to eat them. It's a good thing I learned that lesson, because in my last review of Cheddars I stated we would never go back. Bad memories do fade over time and last week my husband and I realized we were hungry just about six blocks before this Cheddars location. We had a quick discussion and decided to give it one more try. To say we were glad is an understatement! We both had wonderful meals, served quickly and pleasantly by a very attentive young waitress. My husband got a cup of the tortilla soup, which he devoured. For dinner he got a Hawaiian Chicken Salad- perhaps one of the biggest salads I have ever seen in my life. He loved it, ate until he could eat no more and there was still a lot left in the bowl. I'm a child of the south and I love southern classics, so I chose the Chicken and Waffles. OH. MY. GOODNESS. I do not know when I have ever had better chicken "tenders" anywhere. I put quotes around the word tenders because each piece was more the size of a small chicken breast, and there was six of them heaped on a light as air Belgian waffle. I was in southern girl heaven, especially since they also have superlative sweet tea. I am so very glad we went back, and we will definitely be back again! read more

This was our first time to this location and it will be our last. We arrived At 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon, June 10th, 2019. We were promptly seated. Then the fun began. Our server took the drink order of a water and a tea. Fifteen minutes later they came. We quickly gave our order, as we didn't know when he would be back. We got our food at 305. It was evident the whole section was upset as the manager and another man in a black Cheddar's chef jacket spoke to two tables. Meanwhile there were no refills or complimentary bread or anything offered to us. The food was just warm, not hot. It tasted okay, but would have been excellent if it was fresh. We didn't complain, because we don't do that usually. The people behind us broke a glass accidentally on their way out, and glass flew everywhere. No one came to clean it up for a long time. In fact these people had to walk in it to get up from the table. I see all these good reviews , and I wonder about our experience. I saw people getting served way later than the others in their party, orders wrong, people behind us waiting as long as we did for a sandwich, a bowl of soup, and a baked potato. This is not right. They should not have paid. In conclusion, maybe it was bad luck, but we will not be back. Management knew something was up and should have talked to everyone there in the section. They only spoke to the people who complained when it was obvious that food was not coming out. Both management people passed all us by. read more

Are here last night. Had a large group of hungry teenage boys and their parents. Service was fabulous! Mike is a professional server and a model for others in the field! I enjoyed fish tacos and a Cesar salad. My son ate a delicious salmon. Enjoyed cheese fries as an app. All were well done for a chain restaurant and seemed worth the menu price. Given the size of the group, I was especially impressed to see most of the dishes arrive at the same time. Kudos to the fryer operator too. Fish in the tacos was fried to absolute perfection. Moist. Hot. Juicy. Hard to do! Nothing was gourmet but that's not what you expect from a joint like this. Well done, Cheddars! The loss of one star?... I'd question the hostess who sat a young family in our area. I mentioned we were a large group. There was definitely some louder moments. This family was certainly annoyed. Since the first time my friend and I went to Cheddar's we have been treated fantastically. We were lucky enough to get a server whose name is Marcus. This young man was the best server I have ever had in all the years I have dined out which is about 50. He was very professional, wasn't over bearing and had a personality that showed he cared. We went to the Manager that day to compliment this server and the Manager informed us that he was their best and any of his servers could learn a lot from this young man. When we return to this Cheddar's we ask for Marcus and if his tables are filled we will wait. We have never had any problems with the food, it has always been excellent and usually enough to take some home. The Key West Chicken and Shrimp was one of my favorites, the Salmon was also very good. Hamburgers are great. Never have had a bad meal. I could go on and on but, I'm sure if you read this review you know they are good. read more

We stopped at Cheddar's for lunch on Monday on our way home after celebrating our grandson's 2nd birthday in Kentucky. We had never heard of Cheddar's, but James at Harley Davidson of Knoxville recommended it to us when we stopped to look at the bikes there. The Monday lunch business was brisk, but we were seated promptly and greeted warmly by our server Mark. We had vowed to cut down on our portion sizes, so we ordered a Cheddar's "Classic" to share. We divided the mushroom covered chicken breast (two pieces) over rice with broccoli & cheese casserole and cole slaw. We also shared a wonderful dessert: a gigantic, warm chocolate chip cookie, a scoop of ice cream, hot fudge sauce and whipped cream. It was served in a wrought iron skillet! Mark was attentive, arriving at our table at just the right time to refill drinks and serve dessert. The decor was pleasant, the food delicious, and the prices were great. We'll return to Cheddar's the next time we are in Knoxville. read more

We were excited when Cheddar opened on Clinton Hwy. Our first visit was great. We loved the menu items, chicken pot pie, Shepards Pie, pot roast, just plain American food favorites. We were seated quickly, our food arrived in a timely manner. The food was hot and fresh. Our server was great. No complaints. Our second visit, the service was slow, the food was ok, not hot but still fresh and just hot enough to not really complain. Our server was ok, but left a little to be desired on drink refills and checking in with us when we were ready to check out. The third visit we waited nearly 30 minutes to be seated, the restaurant was busy but not packed. Our order took forever , the food was cold and the entire order was wrong. The ribs were so tough they had to be sent back, by the time the orders were corrected the food was cold. Our server was too busy socializing to take time to do her job correctly. We finally got our check and were glad to be done with the whole ordeal. We have not been back since, about 2 years. Yikes. My boyfriend and I visited this Cheddar's location last night and were unbelievably disappointed with the quality of food and service we received. We arrived slightly after 9:00 pm, which I understand is getting late, but still well over an hour before Cheddar's closes. We walked past countless tables that needed bussing until we finally reached our booth. After waiting about 5 minutes, our server finally came and took our drink orders, as well as appetizer and entrees (we were ready to complete our order). We then waited almost ten minutes to receive our drinks. Our appetizer came slightly after, and was nice and hot, so I have no complaints about that. After waiting another 25 minutes in a near-empty restaurant for our food, I was convinced that she had forgotten to put our order in, as I hadn't received my side salad and we hadn't received our entrees. I ordered the chicken finger basket and received 3.5 SMALL tenders that were not even close to warm, nonetheless hot, with a small handful of fries. My boyfriend's chicken wrap was also incredibly underwhelming--it's his favorite meal at the restaurant and it was pitiful looking last night, as well as cold. Our waitress came by the table maybe 3 times total. Overall, it was a very disappointing experience, and the price was outrageous for the amount and quality of food we received. For the price, I don't understand how the food is as good as it is. I was pleasantly surprised. The largest factor in my 5 star rating was the service. The hostesses seemed to have a little drama going on, but once we were seated it was superb. Kent was my server and he did a very professional job of service. His timing was great and his attitude was pleasant. Good service is a rarity these days. The building and decor were pleasant as well. Their croissant rolls are great and their sides are great too. The bill didn't lighten my wallet too much. It is really difficult to say anything bad about the place after my second visit. I will be visiting Cheddar's Casual Cafe again and I hope they keep up the good work and service. read more

The Cheddar's on Clinton Highway was amazing when it first opened and now it is just plain terrible. The past four visits or so, I have waited way too long to be sat, the servers have been terrible, and the food takes way too long to come out of the kitchen. I have never once had a manager come by and check on our table, which shows poor management skills. I live in the area so that's why I have continued to visit that location, but I refuse to return to that Cheddar's. Instead, I will visit the West Knoxville location and give them my business. read more

Ordered meal,after 25 min more,received food. My wife had grilled catfish. Her first bite wasn't good. She turned fish over to find it was burned crisp black.call waitress. We have driven by this location numerous times and commented that they must either be popular or sell cars because the lot is never empty even mid-afternoon weekdays. Got there before 5P on a ordinary Sat. and had to wait 15 min. Didn't get anything unusual, kids had chicken/shrimp combo w/ fries that were all they could stuff in, the Hawaiian salad was decent, the rib/steak combo was good ribs and so-so steak. Everything came out together without a big wait and our server Haley put everything in the right place even though she probably had quite a few tables active. Noted their menu said all burgers cooked medium well so if you are a rare burger aficionado this is not your place. Good, efficient, satisfactory place without a memorable Wow! other than the portion sizes which we expected from the other reviews. Maybe a shade less expensive than Ruby Tuesday without coupons, but they don't advertise or seem to need to. If there was a salad bar I didn't notice, but we'll be back sometime. read more

Very disappointed in our visit to this establishment today. Where to even begin.... My company consisted of four adults and one child. We entered and told the woman seating customers that we had four in our party and needed one high chair. She mumbled something we couldn't understand while walking away. She came back a few moments later and showed us to our seats, and no high chair in sight. We requested a high chair and she rolled her eyes. Actually rolled her eyes! Almost 10 minutes passed before our waitress came to take our drink order. Keep in mind, it was around 2 in the afternoon, and the restaurant was not busy at all. We all ordered waters - should be simple enough. Fast forward another 10 minutes and still no waters. The table beside us grabbed one of the employees who was cleaning a table and asked that she check on their food because it had been a while since they ordered. The waitress brought out their food, along with our waters, all together on one big tray. She gave us the waters, and told us she had to get another table their check and she would come back to take our orders. I sat and watched her go to the computer and punch a few buttons, then proceed to chat and giggle with a co-worker, then disappear. We waited a few more minutes, and then my party and I decided to leave the establishment. Almost half an hour and all we had to show for it was a table of waters. We will never be back to this location, and I cannot recommend it to anyone else. read more

prices are very reasonable some may say cheap. the food was great for the price. the waiters very okay, some were helpful and some you only saw them 3 times. it takes 5 minutes for them just to bring out the check. Either than that the food is great, places looks nice and clean like a high end restaurant but the prices are cheap. all the food there are under $20. I highly recommend the rib eye steak. for $15 you get a well season, dried age steak with 2 sides. Cheddar's has everything thing but the only thing was bad about this place is the dessert. they didn't have a lot of dessert. i wish they had cheesecake here but either than that great place to eat read more

It was the first day of summer break and we met some friends for lunch at Cheddar's on Clinton Highway. My husband had just given our boys $50.00 for all A's on their report cards. We were going to go straight to Target after lunch so I let my 6 year old son hold onto his money. I realize now that was a mistake on my part. Well at some point while leaving the restaurant the money fell out of his pocket. We realized it as soon as we got to the car so we went right back inside and someone had already picked it up. The manager did not offer to help look and when I asked about surveillance tapes he brushed over the subject and was not willing to review them. He actually said, "I trust my employees more than my customers"! I was embarrassed because I felt like I was causing a scene and I felt helpless and like I was not being taken serious. I didn't know what to do, but leave. I wish now that I had called the police because I know in my gut that someone there took the money. I emailed my complaint to the corporate office and they were quick to reply and get the general manager of this store to contact me. He was also dismissive about the surveillance tapes so I told him that I would file a police report and they would send an officer to look at the tapes. At this point he decided he would look at them. Hours later he called me back and said the section I was sitting in couldn't even be seen on the tapes. I asked about the entry way and he was dismissive about it. All he offered was a free ice cream for my son. Umm, no thanks. I'd just like the $50.00 back please! It's hard to let this go because I feel like someone there knows something and is not being honest. When I asked my husband if I was overreacting, my 10 year old son heard me and said, "You're our mom and someone stole money from your kid. You're just doing what's right." read more

We have visited Cheddar's many times, and for the most part we get good food. Not the case on 3/13/15. This was the 5th time we got bad food. Hubby's chicken tenders were a bit bigger than the index finger, tough and only 4..cause one was nothing but a tough piece of skin. My sandwich was over fried to a dark, dark brown. The only thing that was good was the fries and the spinach dip. We had to bring it home though, cause they brought it our 2 minutes before food was served and the tea was nothing but sweetened tented lemon water!! There is no reason for this kind of quality on some days and others good food. Is it because of the weekend that food gets skimpy and poorly prepared? IDK, but paying 34.00 bucks for this kind of food is just crazy. I NEVER got this poor quality food in Johnson City, their's was always the same . DELICIOUS and not skimpy. Thinking this will be our last trip since 5 times is just 5 times to many for poor quality food. read more
