Its well worth the visit. We went for breakfast and it was a pleasant experience. It's well run and its clean. The food is a LOT better quality than the local chain accross the street and was served quickly. The coffee is also very good. The food selection on the buffet was as good as anywhere. The waitstaff is super freindly and helpful also. This is clearly an overlooked restaurant for the Oak Ridge locals, since it's inside the hotel. Prices are reasonable for the quality of the food that is availible. There is a ton of close parking and its easy to access. We plan on going back for dinner one night just to change things up. Yes you can chase a dollar and eat cheaper locally, no doubt, but to have a nice clean, not crowded place with high quality food sets this place apart. As we walked into the restaurant nobody was at the hostess station even though there was a wait to be seated sign. We opted to hang a left, walk up the stairs and sit at the bar. Tiffany is an awesome bartender and deserves all the stars. Friendly and engaging. She also knew several of the patrons drinks as they came in which means she either has a great memory or those people come back for her service. Either way I appreciate when workers make that effort. It was also her birthday tonight and instead of being sour about working on her bday she was fantastic about it. I wasn't wild about their menu so I didn't order any food. My wife and I love a good breakfast and their breakfast buffet looked pretty good so we thought we would try it. The selection is pretty good with an assortment of biscuits, gravy, sausage, bacon, scrambled eggs, assorted fruits, cereals, an assortment of breads for toasting, and a waffle maker. I wish I could give it more than 2 stars but my biggest issue was that food was not replaced frequently. When an item was out, it usually took 20 minutes or more for it to be replaced. I also had to go through a few plates to find one that was truly clean. Lastly, it is a bit pricey for breakfast and wouldn't mind paying more, but for slightly better quality. Lots of potential! Not many Yelp reviews here in the last year, and the ones that were here weren't very positive, so I was a touch worried when I sat down. Turns out there was nothing to worry about! Our server, Megan was very helpful and efficient. She suggested the Cajun pasta, which was outstanding. We also had the shrimp and grits-- not the typical cheesy, overly rich version, but more balanced and the flavor of the grits came out. Definitely way better than your usual hotel lobby restaurant. Here's the deal about Burchfields restaurant inside the Double Tree Hotel, they are not busy enough to be open for lunch. They may not be busy enough to be open for dinner. I didn't stay to find out. Believe it or not, we waited 5 minutes for the hostess to seat us in an empty restaurant. She was busy doing something else and wasn't monitoring her station. We sat at a window which was a nice place to dine after sitting in a conference room for 4 hours. The table seemed clean, the flatware clean, the dishes clean as well. Our server was kind and moderately attentive. She offered bread. When it arrived the bottom of both rolls were saturated in butter, we think. It tasted like it was baked over a week ago. I ordered the Black and Blue Salad. My friend ordered what she thought was "chicken salad". (Pictures included) it was called Famous Pecan Chicken Salad. We laughed. What on Earth! A scoop of chicken salad in between two slices of pineapple? I cannot speak to the chicken salad plate other than it was weird. My Black and Blue Salad was under dressed. I'm not sure there was any dressing on it. The steak, though perfectly cooked, was cold. It's weird to eat cold steak. The seasoning on top of the steak was overkill. OH...AND there were POTATO CHUNKS on top of the salad! What the heck?!!! I thought they were croutons but they were potatoes! See the pic attached to this review. Unreal! Shockingly good. Cajun seafood/andouille pasta was fabulous. It was not andouille sausage, but it was great. Shrimp and grits were light, and great. Waitress was friendly and prompt, even though we arrived 10 mins before closing time. The food came out really quickly. read more

It's amazing how a restaurant can tumble from a total hit to total shit. I pulled into the parking lot on a Thursday between 6 and 7 pm and had no trouble finding a great spot this is the sign that something's fishy. I walked up to find a near empty place and no staff at the reception desk. They were busy collecting a kitchen return dish at the one occupied table. The over made up hosted showed me to a great table (because they were all empty) and I waited for the lone waitress. A sweet young lady who except for having to ask for a refill of my water glass was perfectly fine at her job. I ordered the bang bang shrimp appetizer and it want to bad but the celery sticks looked like they were dirty and old. A little quick knife work or running them under some water could have saved this fiasco. My entree was the chicken masala and it sucked! It sucked because the small single chicken cutlet was smothered in a flavorless brown gravy not masala sauce. It had an asparagus rice dish that was made with the most nasty looking butt end pieces of asparagus. Who got the flavorful pretty tips? The best part of this dish was the ample load of broccoli tops. Here's where this dish lost points. The failed to wipe the plate and it just looked bad! Who's in that kitchen? No self respecting chef! Compared to my previous visit it seems like nobody cares back in the kitchen. Here's the last bad move. I sat and had a full meal but the manager decided to pass my table and greet a couple who were seated a short while after me. This dickhead just blew me off and that's just wrong. Maybe he knew I would tell him exactly how I felt about my let down experience. Maybe this would get him to make the changes to get more asses in the seats. My guess is he just wants to eek by just like the kitchen staff. DONT WASTE YOUR TIME IN THIS PIT. FIND ANOTHER PLACE TONEAT BUT AVOID THIS PLACE. read more

The DoubleTree is walking distance from my apartment, so I occasionally walk over to have a glass of wine and dinner at the bar. The bartenders are great, especially Tiffany. I'm not a big bar guy, so it's nice to be able to hang out at a quiet bar. They have decent wines (I like the Prophecy Pinot Noir) and the food is pretty good. I'm not really sure how to approach this write up...it seems so hit or miss in the opinions. Coworkers that have stayed here before loved it...but, it's my review and my experience you're going to hear about. I'm giving it 2 stars because it has potential and the rib-eye dish was good. Each night I was there, the place was virtually empty; at times, more staff than people. I don't know how the servers and bartenders make any money. They spent a lot of time standing around; can't hate on it. Initial impression, I'm going to sound like my grandfather...it was dark. In the bar area, it didn't look like they had any options to brighten it up. The menu is all over the map and loaded with sauces; they seem to be trying to cater too many tastes. I know restaurants should have options but they need to focus their shot group. Presentation of the food, I haven't seen "piped" mash potatoes in quite some time. They have a good selection of wine but I'm not sure why. I'm don't think the customer base really has that requirement or expectations. A house wine and a few other choices would get them by. Monday night's "taco night," lose the gimmick; it was pathetic You're wasting time and money. Reducing the price of apps. would be fine. Food/Bev manager just may want to revisit the restaurant's offerings and propose a plan to update the restaurant and it's concept. It could use an upgrade and there is competition on the highway just outside their door. 2 stars for potential. read more

The only reason it gets 2 stars and not 1 is that the mashed potatoes were decent. I should have heeded the recent reviews. I ordered grilled pork chops. Not sure how you ruin those so profoundly, but they did! Very tough and dry. The spinach, artichoke, tomato topping tasted only of garlic - and sand from improperly cleaned spinach. Server was friendly but seemed young and a bit too casual. Decent wine selection, but tiny glasses for the price. Also, we went to lunch here to support ADFAC, but none of the staff was able to confirm that Burchfield's was participating today even though they're listed on the ADFAC flyer. I usually avoid restaurants in my hotel. Since they have captive audiences the quality often doesn't measure up. I was pleasantly surprised by my experience at Burchfield's. I ordered the salad bar along with the ribeye. The salad bar needed some attention but the choices were decent. Some of the side dishes like potato salad needed to be stirred as it was getting a bit dry on top. The main dish was very, very good. The presentation was nice with a generous side of freshly grilled squash, zucchini and peppers. The mashed potatoes were creamy and the steak was both well cooked (MR) and really juicy. I ordered the sauce on the side - it provided a nice compliment without being overpowering. The only concern was the speed of service, as others have mentioned. I arrived at a time when there weren't many tables so the beginning of the experience was well timed. It did take quite a while to get my check and nobody checked on me while eating my steak. Business picked up after I'd ordered and I noticed nearby tables waiting a long time for service. So while I'd gladly eat here again, I might sit at the bar in hopes of speedier service. read more

Me and my friend/work colleague attempted to eat here tonight after a long day on the road and needless to say, McDonalds would have been better at this point. Arrived and ordered a Diet Coke and Martini. Bartender confirmed with "Dr. pepper?" No. DIET COKE. We both ordered the same thing (to make it simple) both steaks WELL DONE. As the order is getting entered, bartender turns around and says "Medium rare?" NO. Well done. Waited 15 or so minutes and he said he was going to check on the order. As he walks away, I request "make sure there is asparagus on the plate instead of broccoli." What comes out on the plate? BROCOLLI. 3 strikes you're out. Will NOT be back. read more

Somehow, this restaurant was rated at the top for Oakridge. The pictures looked good, but don't be deceived. We had just checked in to the Doubletree after driving all day and thought-great! We don't need to go out again. Our mistake. There was one waitress for the entire dining room and several patrons were complaining about drinks not being delivered, while one group got up and left-mid-meal. Service is amateurish, at best, with no regard for timing. Our entrees came just as we started our appetizers. When the manager saw that we were not ready, she took them back to the kitchen. By the time we got them back the grits were a congealed mess and the ribs were cold. At no point was an apology offered. A visit to one of the many chain restaurants in the area could not have been any worse. read more

I'm just ok with this place. We went there because we had a groupon. We were there at peak dinner time and we were the only ones eating. There was one other person but they were clearly staying at the hotel and just needed a table and wifi. So we are the only ones ordering in this huge area and they messed up our food. How do you get the order wrong when you have one table? So we waited longer for our food, I wouldn't have even noticed but it was turned into this huge commotion. The manager apologized profusely and gave us dessert for free. Just weird experience for average food. read more

Upon entering the restaurant I was greeted with a warm, pleasing atmosphere. The place looks like a really expensive 4-star restaurant, even down to the staff's attire. I felt so under-dressed. Located at the DoubleTree hotel - they have a very good menu selection and the plate portions are ample, especially the appetizers (made for 2 or more people). Pricing is very reasonable, and the even have a Lunch special menu with prices under $12. Even if you don't stay at the hotel, it's worth the trip to this restaurant for a good meal for a good price. Four of us checked in and decided to stay for dinner. Two entrees were definitely 5 stars and 2 were 4. With Josh as bar tender we give it a solid 5!
