The hostess sat us almost immediately after our arrival on a busy Sunday afternoon, and our meal began with a plate of warm, sweet croissants. Next came a tower of crispy battered onion rings with two dipping sauces. Absolutely yum! I ordered two sides for my entree: Caesar salad and Buffalo fried shrimp. The chilled romaine lettuce was mixed with a Caesar dressing and topped with a perfect amount of shaved Parmesan cheese and toasted croutons. Oh, and my shrimp--it was cooked to perfection and seasoned just right with Buffalo sauce and a ramekin of Ranch dressing. My spouse ordered a Monte Cristo sandwich where the meat and cheese had been expertly tucked inside hollowed-out French-type rolls. They were sprinkled with powdered sugar and served alongside a ramekin of what he said was some of the best strawberry jam he's tried. He chose a cheesy broccoli casserole for his side and had no complaints with that. Brooke, our server, kept on her toes with a roomful of diners, treated us as though we were the only patrons in the restaurant. We ordered the cheddar bites, and they were so good, and I absolutely LOVE the complementary fresh croissants (still warm from the oven!). They are absolutely AMAZING! Their prices on beer and wine are SO much more reasonable than other places we go, and the food was delicious! Their charge for a 9 oz. glass of wine is what most places charge for 6oz, and I hope they continue that! We went in with a group of five people and all ordered something different and separately, and then each of us got a monster cookie to boot, and the food was all great and had massive portions, but what really stood out was our server, Alexis D., who kept is steadily supplied with drinks and was SO kind and understanding of everything we asked of her. Our food came out quickly and our desserts came out RIGHT on time for all of us, even though one took longer to finish his entree than anyone else. The have a wonderful menu with a wide variety of options, including my favorite, a chicken pot pie. We went for lunch and we're served mouth watering croissants with a honey, buttery glaze. They were light and fluffy and melted in your mouth. Meals were about $10-15; very reasonable for the area. We enjoyed a quiet meal and were able to talk and eat comfortably. Came to Knoxville from Vegas- Cheddar's was our first meal while there. $22 for a 14oz ribeye that was so delicious! Can't beat that price. Our faavvee part was the buttery croissants. OMG. The family and I, after careful deliberation, decided upon Cheddars for our evening sustenance. We had been in heated debate whether to eat at O'Charleys or this establishment. Both were favored for one thing and one thing in particular. The pre dinner accompaniment. O'Charleys has their delicious rolls and Cheddars, their buttered croissants. Back and forth it went, until expecting mama put her foot down and asserted her will. The croissants won out, and thus, we find ourselves seated around a table, licking butter off our fingers. Isn't it typical that us crazy Americans are arguing over buttered bread while a war is raging in the Ukraine? I'm sure they have never tasted Cheddars croissants, for if they had, they may at this very moment be breaking bread at the negotiating table. Two burgers, a Dijon chicken dish, a country fried steak, and chicken fingers for Benjamin, hit our table just about the time we were wondering if we had been stiffed by our server. We weren't forgotten, not even when I had mentioned that a beer was a couple of ounces short. Most likely due to an evaporated head (not the server, the glass of beer). Our server promptly brought those delinquent 2 oz.'s in a separate glass. I was kind of hoping for a full one. It would have been a "shingled roof" you know, it's on the house? Our food was right on. The funny thing is that when all was said and done, our conversation on the drive back home centered around the croissants. We both chose the Veggie Plate which allows the choice of a bowl of Potato Soup or a house salad AND four of te great sides. The choices are all delicious and portions generous. All this for $10! Upon entering this establishment, I refuse to call compliment it by calling it a restaurant, my wife and I were "greeted" by what had to be the most hateful hostess I have ever encountered. She literally dropped the menus and silverware on the table before we sat down and walked off. Before ordering, I went to the restroom. It was filthy and stank of urine...ALSO the stall was "gang tagged" (See pictures below) The server was either new or had some sort of learning disability. The food runner had his mask around his chin exposinghis mouth and nose. I think he may have had learning disabilities as well. Who doesn't know how to properly wear a mask??? When I received my meal the steak was nearly well done, I ordered it medium rare, yet cold as were the coconut shrimp. Instead of complaining about the wrong steak I asked for some A-1, which I never use, because I like to taste my steak, he brought me barbecue sauce and said that they didn't have A-1. The loaded baked potato was so overcooked that it had shriveled and dried out and the broccoli casserole had a large burnt section on it. The server rushed the check and I told him that we wanted desert he audibly sighed and reluctantly took the desert order. The chocolate cake was stale, the ice cream was nearly melted and to top it off, he said that they were out of cherries. I will not speak for my wife's experience because it is not my place to do so. In conclusion don't eat at this Cheddars at all!!! Go to Burger King down the road. I have never been there but it has to be better than Cheddars, and probably won't be tagged by gangs. The past two visits I came out here to visit my parents they took me to Cheddar's! Both times were AMAZING! The food is so good here and the prices are very reasonable especially for a touristy area. My parents absolutely love this place and rave about it. We came today before they dropped me off at the airport and the service was A+++ and our waiter wasn't bad looking as well so that didn't hurt haha. I wish I got his name cause he was on top of EVERYTHING!! The food was really great and cooked to perfection and we didn't have to wait long even though it was busy. I had not been in several months due to COVID-19. Decided to go back last week and was really impressed with the cleanliness and friendly service received. I really liked that now you can pay at your table. (I always use my debit card because I just don't carry a lot of cash on me). Our waitress showed us how to pay on a tablet like device they have on all tables now. You insert your card and add a tip and then it prints out your receipt right there at your table! I hope they keep this around permanently and would love to see more restaurants using this. read more

Of all the restaurants in Knoxville, TN, my son chose Cheddar's on Kingston Pike for his birthday dinner. First off, outside the restaurant was dirty. The front porch area was chipped up & unkept. Entering the place, the floors were extremely dirty with debris on the floor in every area. It looked as if it had not been cleaned in a while. We ordered an appetizer & the server said she would bring croissants when they were ready. That didn't happen. We ordered our entrees & they were good for the most part. We ordered dessert, but the server never offered to remove any of our other plates from the table, even after we had stacked them up. The server, however, was friendly & the service was fast. We all used the restroom before we left. The guys said theirs was dirty. In the women's, there was toilet paper pieces all over the floor, the sanitary deposal container was running over, probably hadn't been emptied in a while, the sink drain was nasty, partially clogged & the faucet was faulty. Overall disappointing experience! Decent food is not everything. Cheddar's on Kingston Pike in Knoxville needs a lot of improvement! read more

Sat at the bar because the restaurant was busy Sat around 6pm. Most restaurants hade a 30 minute wait in the area as did Cheddars. The bar oddly was completely empty at 6pm. I've never seen this at other restaurants. I ordered drinks and two dinners. The drinks and bartender where good. I ordered the New Orleans pasta. It would have been good the first time had it been served when it was ready. It was room temperature when it was served. The second time it came it was perfect. Another couple ordered some steaks and those were a complete miss for them. Desert came 25 minutes after ordering. They have a good cookie and ice cream dessert, and a cheese cake. Again, the dessert must have been made and sat out. The ice cream was melted (they said it's the hot cookie) and the cheese cake was warm. Avoid the bar if you want a good meal. They don't back up the bartender when food is ready. Steaks cooked as requested are hit and miss. The steak quality looks good though. read more
