Sat at the bar because the restaurant was busy Sat around 6pm. Most restaurants hade a 30 minute wait in the area as did Cheddars. The bar oddly was completely empty at 6pm. I've never seen this at other restaurants. I ordered drinks and two dinners. The drinks and bartender where good. I ordered the New Orleans pasta. It would have been good the first time had it been served when it was ready. It was room temperature when it was served. The second time it came it was perfect. Another couple ordered some steaks and those were a complete miss for them. Desert came 25 minutes after ordering. They have a good cookie and ice cream dessert, and a cheese cake. Again, the dessert must have been made and sat out. The ice cream was melted (they said it's the hot cookie) and the cheese cake was warm. Avoid the bar if you want a good meal. They don't back up the bartender when food is ready. Steaks cooked as requested are hit and miss. The steak quality looks good though. read more

I went there with a friend, and one of the specials was the grilled salmon salad. We both ordered the salmon salad, and it was amazing... I got mine with lemon pepper, and it was cooked to perfection. The salad was fresh and delicious as were the candied pecans in the salad. The serving size was large enough to provide another meal at home. I got the potato soup for an appetizer. It was delicious and hearty. The honey croissant roll was fresh and delicious as well. We had a great server who kept our tea glasses full and was very in tune to our table. The hostess readily accomodated my need to sit in a quiet spot away from the bar area. We always have a positive experience at any Cheddars. My wife and I were seated immediately and received outstanding service from our server. We each had a beer on tap and shared their appetizer sampler for lunch. This is plenty for two people. It has four chicken fingers with mustard sauce, spinach dip, queso dip, salsa and a big basket of chips. The chicken fingers were some of the best I've had. Super crunchy! Yummy and reasonably priced comfort food is what I find to be the case here at Cheddar's. It is no different from other Cheddar's I have visited and they have the moving fans and large fish tank inside. The parking lot is very big and the restaurant itself was spacious. The entrees that have listed sides were interchangeable with the sides that one would just add to an entree for additional charge. That is an awesome thing because they have quite a good list of sides and I hope to try all of them in rotation at some point in time. My dining companions and I decided to order the country style fried chicken dinner and the country fried steak. The chicken seems like the better choice as the meat was moist and tender. The steak was more like a hamburger patty deep fried in a semi-thick and soft batter. I was hoping for an actual steak and a crunchier batter like the one on the fried chicken. The steak batter also slipped away with every bite or knife cut and it was difficult to eat the steak as a whole. The portions are quite large and while we didn't have left overs we were glad that we didn't order any appetizers or desserts. Being too stuffed is not glorious! Overall I like this chain restaurant and I miss the food when I'm not down south and the northeast region does not have a Cheddar's. read more

4 pm Sunday Nov 28. 2018 My husband and I came here for our wedding anniversary. It's not the first time we come here and we never had any problems. In fact I even complimented then for the great food. When we were finished, I went to the restroom and in the meantime my husband paid the bill without looking at it. It was 5:16pm. When I came back I noticed that there was an extra amount for game time that should not have been there. So while my husband went to the restroom I kept pressing the service button on the console so that the waiter would come over. I pressed 4 times and he never came. I even saw him a few tables away and called him but he did not hear me. In the meantime my husband came back and sat down. Finally I saw the waiter and flagged him down. He came over and I explained that while I touched the game button on the console I never played any games. He agreed to remove the charge. He took the receipt and left. He came back with a new receipt and explained that he was not able to remove the extra charge but that he gave us a credit of $5 off. It was 5:36pm. My husband paid the bill but when he looked at it he said that it was higher than the previous bill and could not understand why. I tried to figure it out myself and when the waiter came back I saw that he had charged for the queso and guacamole (we had a coupon for free). So the waiter said he would go see his manager. He came back 20 minutes later and said that while he could not fix it there would be a credit of $6.29 plus tax credited to our account. I told the waiter (Jacob A) that this was unacceptable and demanded to see the manager.He said ok and I had to wait 15 minutes for the manager to come by. Finally a woman came by. She never gave her name. She asked what happened. And I told her all of the above. She agreed that we would not have to pay the meal. It was over 6pm if not later when we were finally able to leave. I looked at our bank account and the whole $44 was charged. The manager said she would said she would take care of it. She never took care of it. And now I have to call them tomorrow. read more

The upgrades here can definitely be appreciated. The name change and the sign also tell the story inside of this establishment. The servers and food are definitely very fresh as well as on time. I've never had a problem with this location, sometimes just being seated very very far away and lonesome which is good sometimes but not all the time. The menu is very bland and more for the older crowd. If you are looking for a variety, this is definitely not the place. But if you're looking for a good affordable average food that will be brought out on time and fresh with many options, this is definitely the place for you. The waiting area is very small and crunched, so if you come on a Sunday or around the holidays definitely expect to either stand or wait very closely outside or in the car. There was a bit of a wait to be seated on this Saturday evening, but the bar was completely empty so we seated ourselves right in front of the TV to watch some of the Vols game. The bartenders are artists; they make a variety of drinks but can and will tweak them to meet your specific taste. I asked for a dry margarita, which I enjoyed, and my friend got the margarita made with some mint, which was also good and not too "minty." Drinks overall were great. I settled on the nachos for my dinner, as the menu's description of them sounded great- and I asked for extra jalapenos instead of the meat. However, they came with cheese, lettuce, and jalapenos and THAT'S IT. There was supposed to be salsa, and pico de gaio, and refried beans, possibly also sour cream and other things, and the menu had no mention of lettuce. After mentioning this to the bartender, and after I finished picking out the lettuce, the side of salsa and pico de gaio arrived. I just ate them as is and they were pretty good. But some of the other toppings that were mentioned on the menu, such as the beans, were forgotten, and never came. I don't blame the bartender, he didn't make the dish. It just seems like somehow the kitchen staff didn't realize what the nachos were supposed to include. My friends "spazogna" (spaghetti with lasagna) was pretty good. We arrived at Cheddars after the dinner rush. Was seated right away and placed out order within a few minutes. 30 minutes later our food arrived and everything but the croissants were luke warm. I choose to pay more to get the 8 oz and can visually see it's not the 8 oz. sometimes it is, but many times it's not. This is also true of the steaks. I finally stopped into this place after driving past it once a week for the last two years. Cheddars is one of those places I forget about. It isn't that I don't like the place, it just isn't on our "list" of places we frequent. I like their honey butter croissants, various side dishes and their chicken tenders. Cheddars is Cheddar's!! Since living in Dallas, I've been going to Cheddar's so I was happy to see it here in Knoxville. It's been a long time since I've been to one so I was glad to see they still had all my favorites. For an appetizer, you should definitely get the spinach & artichoke dip, it's soooo good. The warm croissants are also amazing! The half rack of ribs and shrimp are very filling, I took a lot home after starting with an appetizer. The fried fish is also pretty good. The kids meals are pretty big. Try the strawberry lemonade, it has actual strawberries in it and is so good. For dessert, you can't go wrong with the cookie and ice cream. Only 4 stars just due to the extremely limited menu. I was excited to see their dining room was open for seating so we popped in while some family was in town. Only to realize their menu was a quarter of what it really is. I beefed up cheddars saying how enormous their menu is and there's so many options. We have been here before and always loved the environment and food. The baby back ribs are my favorite complemented to perfection with the coleslaw. However this time, and reason why I have written reviews, is to appreciate our server Cecilia. Hardly any restaurants have bilingual servers and even though we speak english in public places it was nice to have a server who had that extra. Our service was phenomenal, she made sure our drinks got refills and stopped by to ask if we needed something. It's not fancy, but it's cozy and comfortable enough to enjoy a meal with your family or friends, and judging from the always crowded parking lot at this location, it seems that people like it well enough. I had the Monte Cristo sandwich which was basically a fried doughnut with ham, cheese and turkey stuffed inside. It wasn't bad, but a bit too greasy for me. It reminded me of something you'd get at a fair or carnival. My husband got a burger and it was okay. I think that's the theme here, everything is just just okay.
