This is my favorite breakfast spot! The chicken and waffles are amazing! Service is usually top notch and it has an interesting vibe inside.

Disappointing breakfast experience. I typically enjoy a well made breakfast, so my wife and I met with a friend this past weekend to give this spot a try. First let me say our server was very friendly and attentive, no complaints about service. The food, however, was sub-par. I ordered the waffle at the recommendation of the server. The waffle came out cool to the touch and couldn't even melt butter. As seen in my photos, even halfway through the meal it wasn't melting. When my coffee arrived I requested fresh cream, but was informed they do not have fresh cream and only had the branded artificial creamers. The grits were average. Cold waffles and gas station creamers are certainly not elevated breakfast foods and not worth the price point. read more

Not a little noisy but so noisy that you cannot hear your waitress. The grits are good but here's a tip to the chef. Stir, stir, stir when you make grits. The lumps were many and uncooked. The bacon was served cold, the eggs overdone and the biscuit, which I expected to be the star by their name, was cool and the bottom was hard. And did I tell you that this place is loud, noisy and near unbearable. Hang a few sound-clouds for sound absorption. The hostess seems untrained, the seater walks at a snails pace to the table and neatly sprints to the front, well sprint is an exaggeration maybe a slow saunter is more accurate. And if I did not mention it, this place is loud, noisy and unbearable to be at eating at. So why three star, the waitress was exceptional. read more

Seated immediately. Our eggs with biscuits and gravy, presented on colorful yellow and orange plates onto our brightly colored table cloth, came in a flash after ordering them. The gravy could have been a tad more seasoned, yet better than being over-seasoned with salt and pepper. Sides of smooth grits, fresh fruit and crispy bacon completed our meals along with water and hot tea for drinks. The only negative: the restaurant is super loud with so many tables in the dining room and booths along the walls. We needed to lean across the table to hear each other. This restaurant also adds a 25% gratuity for parties of 6 or more and charges 4% more if paying with a credit card instead of cash. Delicious breakfast joint in Farragut. Decided to take myself out for a brunch date and try some place new. When I got there the place was definitely busy, which made sense because it was Saturday around 11. I got seated outside on their heated patio almost immediately. It would have been a wait for inside but the patio was nice and warm. My server was quick to come up and grab my drink order. A mimosa and coffee. Both of which came very fast. For mimosas they give you an option to get different flavors so I chose the peach and it was good. Nice and light. For food I got the stuffed french toast which came with a biscuit, two eggs and, chicken sausage. The french toast was really good. The cream on the inside and the berry drizzle over the top was delicious. It was sweet but not too sweet. The biscuit was light and fluffy and with the apple butter, even better. Surprisingly, one of my favorite parts of the meal was the chicken sausage patties. They had a nice savory flavor that also worked well with the biscuit. The food here was really good but the service was a little off. I don't know if it was because it was busy or what but it was a little disappointing. When I was waiting for my food, it was delivered to the wrong table. The server didn't notice and since one of the people there had ordered french toast (a different style) they were confused. The other table and I had figured out the issue after the food had been sitting there awhile. But it was almost impossible to flag someone down. The staff realized when the other tables food was delivered (a bit later). Instead of taking the original dish back to be recooked the person tried to offer it to me, which at that point everything had been sitting for a while, so I and the other table said it probably should be redone. It was remade which I appreciated but it was just kinda weird. The server also didn't even really acknowledge it, they just said it would be out soon. No apology or anything. I do understand that they were busy, but just a hey sorry about that would have been appreciated. read more

This place is one of my favorite brunch places in Knoxville. They're fast and very kind. We got here around 9:45am- told there was going to be a 20-25 minute but we got sat in 10 minutes. We sat down and ordered our food right away and we paid the bill and left the building by 10:45am. Also, there is a 4% charge when paying with card so I recommend paying with cash! The tables are very cute and the lights are so unique. The staff was very kind! We had Mallory and she was super friendly. I ordered the chicken and waffles with honey butter, and a white Russian (double vodka) and it was delicious. Felt like the Dude was right with me. My husband ordered the breakfast burrito and fresh fruit, not only was the few bites I had of his burrito amazingly delicious, the fruit tasted fresh and full of flavor as well. Waited over an hour to be seated (table of 3) and when we finally were packed into the middle of a room with a about a hundred other people all sardined together, our seats had food on them and/or were still wet from where they had been wiped off. 3.5 stars would be more accurate. The food was the only reason for the average rating, but when you're a restaurant it's the most important aspect. I had the smoked salmon Benedict. Poached eggs and hollandaise were fine, but they need to serve it with smoked lox, fresh dill, and a biscuit instead of an English muffin (isn't this a biscuit joint?). The salmon was plain, cooked, and cubed and the dill was from a jar. Very disappointing. BUT the grits stole the show! Creamy and perfectly seasoned, these are definitely worth getting again. Good to know: they have a bar for mimosas and such, and can make lattes and mochas. Service and communication were perfect. Pleasant (kinda kooky eclectic style) environment. read more

I had high hopes this place would be a delicious new restaurant in Farragut where we could stop in for breakfast from time to time, but after eating there 2 x now we won't be going back. This most recent experience (while sitting at the bar) was terrible. We opted not to sit in the dining room & instead sit at the bar. When my husband told the non-binary host-ess (?) we would just sit at the bar, they said something my husband didn't understand so he asked them to repeat it (my husband is a VET who suffered hearing loss in the service) they rolled their eyes & sighed at him like it was so much trouble to repeat it. Then after we took our seat & ordered. Our food came out cold. My pancake literally had a hard layer on the bottom of it like it had been made hours ago & kept on the colder part of the griddle in the back for a LONG time before it came out. I had to tear it into pieces to eat it since my folk wouldn't cut through it. After 2 extra chewy bites I asked for another one & instead of the bartender apologizing or saying anything she just said I'll get you another one...the next one being the exact same. She never checked back or asked if this one was better. The big glob of butter on top wouldn't even melt is how cold & rubbery this pancake was. I'm sorry but if you can't get your pancakes done perfectly at a breakfast joint you're not going to make it. I will say their grits were delicious & warm (not hot) so I just ate those for my breakfast & left the cold pancake behind. The sausage patty was chewy/old like it had also been prepared hours earlier & left on the griddle. Awful. Next time we will just go to Tupelo Honey just around the corner. New to the Farragut area, had heard good things about Flying Biscuit so we tried it for brunch today. First, the server was great, but the food was disappointing. My husband had the avocado toast, it was not fresh, and his eggs were tasteless. I had eggs, chicken sausage and toast, sausage had a good flavor, but could have been cooked more, toast was barely toasted and eggs were average. The First Watch across the street is so much better. Also, the noise level is extremely loud so having a conversation at the table was almost impossible. We love supporting local, but we won't be going back to the Flying Biscuit. read more

This was an interesting spot for the first visit. When we walked in was not expecting to see a full bar. We were there around 11am or 1130am. They seated us immediately and there were probably 15 tables already seated. There were also plenty of seats still available. Menu has lots of options but not overwhelming. I got the gravy and biscuits, had to try something with a biscuit with the potatoes for a side, given the name of the place. It was good. The biscuit was okay. It didn't WOW me. My wife got the burrito with the cheese grits on the side. The burrito was great. But the star were those cheese grits. I highly recommend these. We will definitely be back during their select hours. These is the part that threw me for a loop. As I stated at the beginning they have a full seat at bar. So I expected that they would have hours that would match having a full bar. Nope. During the week 7am to 2pm and weekends 7am to 3pm. Great opening hours. It is just strange to me the closing hours. read more

For opening day crowds, The Flying Biscuit did well! I had the stuffed French toast, which was absolutely delicious! My only problem is it is so sweet, so if that's not your breakfast style, don't go for it. My husband had the free bird omelet, which after eating a few bites I realized I should have ordered. The gravy was delicious! I ordered a side of grits as every southern gal should do and O-M-G they were amazing! I would drown in those grits if possible. The beignet donuts were tasty, but small - we will most likely pass on those next time. The murals on the walls were bright and overall the whole place is fun and inviting. This place has really good food and the service is pretty good. It's pretty loud, but a bit more quiet in the covered patio. My biggest gripe is the "nickel and dime" situation. The prices are as expected but if you bring 6 people, get ready to pay a mandatory 25% tip -something usually reserved for tables of 8 or more in other places. Also, if you pay with a credit card, get ready to pay an added percentage. They have a bar with quite a few cocktails. Our table didn't drink cocktails and water and coffee was a bit hard to get refilled. All and all, I like this place's food but given the service and check padding, I can't recommend driving out of your way to visit for brunch or lunch. read more

When I learned that one had opened in Knoxville Tennessee where I live I was ecstatic I could not wait to go. But I was very disappointed. The service was good but the food did not hold a candle to the one I visited in Georgia. I ordered the egg stravaganza and the eggs were cooked beyond Oblivion and they meet that was in the eggs was hard, The gravy looked more like sausage gravy casserole it was so thick and chunky it did not spread very easily. The grits were good but way too salty. My daughter ordered a veggie scramble and it came sitting in a puddle of watery juice I guess you would say. I was very disappointed in the food quality. Five of my friends and I went here for brunch on a busy Sunday. Though they don't take reservations, they do accept call-ahead seating and we, of course, forgot to call ahead. They seated all 6 of us pretty quickly and we were seen-to by the lovely and friendly Farrah. We all agreed that Farrah was excellent at her job, by the way. Food: I had the Mr. Big and, it was huge and delicious. The parmesan truffle fries were excellent - fluffy on the inside, crispy on the outside and flavorful to the max. Got to try the grits and, let me tell you: they're everything people boast of: creamy and tasty. Those who got biscuits agreed they were delightful. Two folks said the champagne and chambord combination was yummy and all who ordered plain coffee agreed it was good and it was strong. I will definitely return and all in our party agreed. This was the most mediocre breakfast I have ever had for almost $50 with tip. I don't give bad reviews lightly but not only were the portions ridiculously small for the price but they just lacked in total flavor. My daughter got a small single pancake for $8. One. My eggs literally tasted like nothing. My husband got a burger and they asked how he wanted it...the patty was so flat, there was no cooking it anything other than well done.
