Stopped in after work for an evening meal. Just me so I settled in at the bar. For a restaurant so well lit, the atmosphere was intimate. The TV played the Knicks v Cavs game. A spirited contest of two playoffs team. The bartender, a bubbly woman who greeted everyone with a smile and honey butter croissant, supplied me with a menu and utensils. While I perused the dinner options, I watched as she cleanly concocted a delicious Long Island iced tea. Ready to make my selections, I settled on the ribs and fried shrimp with steamed broccoli and bacon mashed potatoes. My dinner was made expeditiously and came out piping hot. While the ribs were slathered in sauce, they were tender and juicy. Falling off the bone. Mashed potatoes were sprinkled with bacon and shredded cheese. Can't mess up broccoli. I mean you can, but if you did, you probably shouldn't be cooking ‍. Chased with my adult beverage and the annoyance of basketball, my evening retired quite comfortably. When I was done, the bartender doublechecked to see if I needed anything further.

I love a Monte Cristo sandwich, and I have a friend who insists it's not a real Monte Cristo unless it's deep-fried (a lot of places skip that step). This place does deep-fry theirs, and I figured if I split it with my husband, it's only about 800 calories. This was my first time at a Cheddar's, and the hype about the croissants they serve at the beginning is definitely real. Also, the inside of the restaurant is surprisingly nice. Unfortunately, the waitress uniforms kind of bring the vibe down a bit. My husband got the potato soup to go with his half of the sandwich. It was fine, though I would've liked a little more seasoning. I asked for my Monte Cristo to be made a certain way and requested the kitchen make sure the cheese was fully melted inside. A lot of the photos I'd seen showed unmelted cheese. I thought about ordering it "well done," but figured they might just deep-fry it to a crisp. When it arrived, the cheese was perfectly melty, but the sandwich was extra greasy--too much even for me, and that's saying something. It was okay overall, but I don't have much desire to go back. That said, I'd be fine going again if it was a favorite spot for a group. Our waitress was an absolute sweetheart, even with the table behind us giving her a hard time.

Food was very tasty and a generous portions were also very good. I had the sirloin steak 6 oz with fresh corn, sautéed mushrooms. For dessert we shared a chocolate cake with ice cream, not only was it delicious but it was so big that four people could eat from it. Server Donavon was courteous, helpful, and very attentive. Prove was very affordable . Food was prepared and delivered in a timely manner. Overall would definitely come again on my next visit.

Took me forever to try this place. I have driven by it easily 1000 times. I noted the star count wasn't high, but this is an established chain. The other Yelpers were right. The food was nothing special and my chicken fried steak was absolutely not worth the price as the steak was not high quality. The gravy was near flavorless. The potato was dried out. Somewhat cold (butter didn't melt). The Texas toast was very dried out. The interior was clean and decor about right for a Cheddar's.

Here you can see the beautiful dining room with the aquarium in the background and paddles from the fan hanging down.

There's something about Cheddars that just keeps us going back. The ambience is nice, especially with the huge ceiling fan, and the fancy aquarium wall which divides the main dining room and the bar. The food is always good, prices are very reasonable, and the staff is always great. We've never had an issue at Cheddars and we highly recommend it to anyone who's on a budget or not!

Hi folks. Friday hunger. Cheddars to get a steak and salad.. Service was great as per their usual. The honey butter croissants came out super warm, light, fluffy. Salads were over the top delicious. I could consider becoming a vegetarian if all salads were like this. Maybe add ham or steak on top. Steak was a 16oz T-bone. Seared nicely. It is topped with garlic butter. The tea was some of the deepest brewed in the area. Doesn't need sugar when it's this full-bodied. This was robust tea. Love it. There is nothing to take away from a full-on fiver. The stars aligned tonight at Cheddars.

Cheddar's always hits the spot. Service was quick and the food was on point. The croissants? Warm, soft, and addictive. And the spinach dip is a must--creamy and so good every time.

I had an errand to run in north Irving, so I decided to check out Cheddar's for lunch since I hadn't been in a couple of years. I love their Caesar Pasta Salad which I ordered with salmon, but you can also get it with chicken if you prefer. The salmon and pasta were cooked perfectly, and the romaine was crisp and fresh. I ended up taking the entire salad home, except for one bite, because I stuffed myself on their Spinach Dip. It was so good! I had forgotten about the complimentary honey butter croissant, so that was a nice treat.

I have no idea why this place has such a low rating. I just wanted some quick food and ended up ordering quite a bit. For 30 dollars you'll be full forsure. The waitress was hilarious and the food came out quick. My ribs were sliding off the bone and extremely tender. They gave us unlimited sides of honey croissant which I thought was okay... the cheese curds were better than some I had in wisconsin. I will most likely stop by again once I'm in town with my girlfriend. The Ambience was quite nice and everything seemed very clean. You order off of a tablet or the waitress checks in on you. I do want to start with the positives. Our waiter was fantastic. He was very attentive, explained the menu thoroughly, and provided excellent service. The food also came out incredibly fast and piping hot, which is becoming rare these days. We started with the cornbread, and it was easily a 10/10. It was worth every bit of the $12. We ordered the fried chicken, greens, shrimp fried rice, biscuits, and hot water cornbread. The fried chicken was crispy and tender, but it lacked seasoning. I'd give it a 7/10. They served it with a house hot sauce, but surprisingly it had no heat and almost no flavor. I even asked the person I was dining with if they tasted anything because it was like pouring sauce on the chicken without changing the flavor at all. The greens were just okay on their own, but once we added the vinegar they became amazing. That made me wonder why the vinegar isn't incorporated into the greens from the start. The hot water cornbread had virtually no flavor. The shrimp fried rice was cooked really well, but it had an unexpected Caribbean-style seasoning that threw me off. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't what I was expecting, and it made it hard to fully enjoy. The biscuits were probably the biggest disappointment. They were dry and hard. One thing I also noticed is that, for a family style restaurant where you're encouraged to order several dishes to share, the tables feel too small. Once all the food arrived, there wasn't much room left, and even packing up our leftovers was awkward because of the lack of space. One standout that deserves recognition was the iced tea. It had what tasted like a subtle hint of mint and was incredibly refreshing. Easy 10/10. From the cuts of chicken we received, it appears they break down and fry whole chickens, which is perfectly fine. However, at $56 for a fried chicken that lacked seasoning, I found the price hard to justify. Maybe the cooking method or oil contributes to the cost, but I expected much more flavor for that price. Overall, I'd rate my experience a 7.5/10. Would I come back? Yes. I'd be willing to give Roots another chance and try something different from the menu. But when I hear Southern food, I expect bold seasoning and comforting flavors, and that's the one area where this meal really fell short.

Recently, I had lunch here, and they now have a new farm to table menu that really exceeded my expectations. The Ranch has reinvented itself many times, and now it's a restaurant I would visit for the food AND atmosphere. My Overall Rating - 5 Stars (Atmosphere, Service, Food, Return) Atmosphere - At its core, it's a bar with several indoor and outdoor dining areas with a country theme. The Ranch is so versatile that you can host a private event while people dine in the main area while others hang out at the bar. There's also a charming outdoor area that is nice if the weather is cool. Best of all - it's full of people and energy. 1 Star. Service - Our server was great. We explained the concept, went over the menu, and while a large table occupied his time, several of the staff were helpful. Everyone was dressed in Cowboy/Ranch gear. Texas Southern Hospitality is real. 1 Star. Food - My most recent visit was like visiting a new restaurant. The Ranch's menu has changed, and everything was new. I started with the pork belly appetizers, which was a great start to meal. The tender pork meat had a layer of sweet + salty belly that melts in your mouth. I went with the Barbacoa Grilled Cheese that was one of the best I've ever had. The barbacoa (shredded BBQ beef) was the star and was better than any brisket grilled cheese I've had. The sourdough was grilled with lots of butter, so after devouring the sandwich I had to wash my hands. 2 Stars. Will I Return? - Absolutely. I had been to The Ranch so many times I considered a place to gather for Happy Hour. Not anymore. The new menu is incredible, and I can't wait to return. 1 Star.

The cheese, fruit, nuts and spreads were all delicious. - The Margarita pizza had an interesting twist with the addition of pecans. I really enjoyed it however, I wished the tomatoes would have been consistently sliced as some were barely if at all sliced so you had to do a little more work to keep them in place. - The House salad was good and I enjoyed the vinaigrette it was served with. We also shared a bottle of the house white wine which we all really enjoyed. It wasn't clear from the wine menu that this was an option, but our waiter recommended it and even brought us a sample. The service of a waiter was a mixed bag. I'm not sure if it was the time of our reservation or what else may have been going on but we didn't find him to be as helpful without being prompted, at times made a feel a bit rushed and moved on from us quickly. It was the first time for at least two of us but he didn't ask this nor mention anything about the menu or concept to us. The one exception was with the wine recommendation. Overall we all enjoyed the food enough to want to return with hope for a better service experience.

I hold onto dessert. The menu looked a little different, and the service was really good. We started with the fried green tomatoes, which were absolutely wonderful. I don't even like tomatoes, but apparently my objections disappear once you bread and fry them. I have principles. They're just negotiable. For my entrée, I ordered the steak salad. It was okay, but nothing I'd get excited about. The steak was lukewarm, and the dressing was sweeter than I wanted. I prefer my sweets in cake form, which, conveniently, was already part of the agenda. I'd skip the salad next time for the price; I've had better meals elsewhere. But the whiskey cake? Still amazing. Still worth remembering years later. Honestly, I'd come back again and again just for that cake. So my lunch had a strong opening, an underwhelming middle, and a spectacular finale. Thankfully, I'm very willing to forgive a plot issue when dessert sticks the landing.

I was so excited to try this Cajun place because I love the type of food, but after one trip I'll…read moreprobably never go back, we ordered to go, got the chicken fried steak po boy and a blackened catfish on a bed of dirty rice, the po boy and fries were large but very mid. The catfish was not even close to blackened and lightly seasoned, the "bed" of rice was a thin layer under the fish (less then a 1/3 cup of rice), the piece of bread was decent and maybe the best part of the meal, the rice was bland and had NO meat which makes dirty rice dirty, the worst part of the meal was that we walked in to order to go, then when our food was ready, the 2 little girls in the front were playing around for about 10-15 minutes while our food was just sitting there ready. It wasn't until we said something that they checked if it was our food. The ambiance was cool, too bad everything else wasn't. They get 2 stars because their fries were good.

Very good place! Limited - ish menu fyi, you could get fried chicken, smoked chicken, chicken…read moretenders, or chicken fried steak. Then you get a whole bunch of sides, family style and bottomless. Fun concept!! Good food and friendly service. It was very busy when I went and I'd guess it's busy pretty much anytime you go. Also had lemon pie for desert which was good and seemed to be home made. Neat country style decor, like a Cracker Barrel but Texas-ey

We were finally seated and waited at least 15 to 20 minutes before a waiter took our drink order. Not the first time we were forgotten at a table at this establishment in downtown Carrollton. When the waiter finally arrived, we got the salad, drinks and biscuits, but we were only given one biscuits each. Normally, with a man at the table normally three biscuits are given. And then another long wait where we sat after we finished biscuits and salads. Our waiter wasn't busy, we could see him standing talking to other staff with a manager nearby that didn't notice the slowness of service going in our section. When we finally did get the main meal, it seems staff waits to give you the food late in hopes that you will be full off biscuits and salad and not ask for seconds. Overall, good food without good service with a manager nearby equals about a two star rating in my book. Managers, try to notice your customers just sitting without drinks at empty tables. Try to notice your waiters and waitresses standing around not servicing customers and talking to each other. Waiters and waitresses, understand that your tips are determined on the service you give your customers. If you are standing around talking to other staff, your customers notice and tip reflect this lack of attention.
