My husband and I recentlly visited the Cheddars on Germantown Parkway in Cordova. That was one thing we will NEVER do again!! It was Sunday and with a rather big Church Crowd, which was to be expected and didn't bother us at all. That was probably the only thing pleasant I could say about our experience. There was maybe a 15 minute wait for a table, again no problem. Our waitress appeared took our drink order and appetizer order. We had ordered the queso dip and chips. The queso was TERRIBLE!! It was barely luke warm and it litereally tasted like the kind you can buy on the shelves at your local grocery store. I orederd a chicken sandwhich with fries which was ok. My husband ordered a bacon cheeseburger. When it arrived it looked good. However there was no ketchup, no mustanrd, or mayo. Certainly alot of restaurants do not put these condiments on the burger, but they will come on the side, or there is ketchup and mustard on the table..OR THE WAITRESS WILL ASK! This never happend. As a side note a lady in a booth next to us ordered a fish dish and she asked for some tartar sauce, the waitress looked at her like she was from outer space.!!! Refills on drinks were far and few in between our waitress seemed to find chatting up and flirting with the bartender more important then her customers. But as soon as she handed us the bill she was flitting and fluttering all over our table...Too Late for you! As we were getting up to leave and she seen the amount of the tip she rather loudly said REEALLLY? Yes really..Maybe a better tip would of been...find a different profession.. Another thing I noticed was that a floor manager,store manager or "BOSS" never came around to say hello and ask how everything was . The absolute worst service. Waiter didn't refill drinks. Walked past our table several times when we were clearly ready to order. Once we did order, our appetizer came out AFTER the food and my wife's food was cold. The manager didn't seem to care and didn't offer to do anything about this. A year ago, this Cheddar's would have easily gotten 5 stars, but I have to admit that it has really went down the last couple times that I went there, which has been in the last 3 or 4 months. I do not know if they got new management or what but I have given it two or three more tries since the first time I noticed it had dropped in quality and it was no better. This place used to have food to die for and the best customer service in the area, but that is long gone. The first time I noticed this, I brought my 3 best friends after endlessly bragging on it and they did not like it. The food was cold, one thing had to be sent back, and the service was lacking. The last time I tried it, I do not know if they are using a different supplier or cutting their chicken tenders into smaller pieces but the portion was about a third the size as usual. I told the waiter and he brought one more small tender. It was not busy, but again, service was lacking. I really hope this place gets better but I have not been able to bring myself to try it again after being disappointed that many times. This is our 2nd time at this Cheddars location. The first time we came it was extremely crowded due to the opening week. The service was slow but our waitress worked hard to make sure we did alright. Today we went back again but this time we got a very inexperienced waitress who couldn't multitask at all. For example, she got coffees for us but she wouldn't get water at the same time. She had to go back to the kitchen again and grab another couple of waters, by the way, this would take her 15 mins to complete. Usually salad and soup would be served at the same time but this was not the case for us today. While serving others' salads first, I had to wait for another 15 mins to get my soup after I reminded the waitress. In addition to being slow and inefficient, she got few items of our orders incorrectly; some items were overcooked or not prepared as requested. Having say all this above, we understand it takes time to become an efficient waitress. If you know you're not doing a good job, at least you can apologize for your inefficiency and inaccuracy, or just come to check on us and make sure we have our drinks refilled or if there's any additional request. However, we didn't see this at all and in fact we couldn't find her on the whole floor at all. We just didn't see the effort to make your customers happy On the top of this, here comes the worst part - the floor manager. We tried to talk to him and make him understand our frustration. We provided our opinions and hoped he would do something different for the rest of our dinner to make us feel they were trying to solve the issues. Instead of humbly taking our opinions, the floor manager was trying to defend themselves by saying the slow service was due to that our family had two tables under the same waitress. If we were willing to switch table where our family wouldn't be able to see each other, the service could be much faster!! In what world would a manager say this to excuse their service?! We just didn't get his logic at all! So if the other table was for another family, the waitress would all of a sudden become a super efficient waitress? I don't think so! Besides, he didn't take the case by making us feel respected. If your customer complain to you about the service, a good manager could just waive the service fees or just provide a discount on overall bill. But this guy didn't say anything at all and just pretended nothing happen. We told him the chicken was overcooked (all over-burned and turned black), and he just said they could cook another one for us but we would have to wait for another 20 mins, given that he knew we were about to leave. We had total 8 people dining together so per Cheddars' policy they would charge 18% service fees automatically. The manager said we can just split it into 2 checks so we can decide how much we want to tip, which we did take this approach. But the manager didn't tell our waitress and just let her charge us the service fees - 18% on two separate checks. I guess we could argue about this with them but at the end we just feel hopeless. Having see the manager we just understood why an untrained waitress would be serving tables for the whole night. If a manger could not set up a model of how to serve the customers, it is just wasting your time to expect you'll be treated right in the end The reason this Cheddar location being so popular is that its price is friendly and the portion is decent. But if it doesn't improve its service and the long waiting to get a table, I believe the reputation will eventually hurt the restaurant really bad read more

Very pretty atmosphere but food I received was lousy got original hamburger looked great tasted like a soy burger at one bite gave it back, fries tasted liked they were drowned in salt and chips with salsa were salty also!!!!! We were traveling through town and staying at a local hotel. We called in an order to go. My first clue should have been the rudeness on the phone. Picked up the order and had to go to the bar to pick it up. Arrived back at the hotel and no salad dressing for, no ketchup for fries, and no honey mustard for chicken strips. Thought we would get an early dinner..around 430. Started fairly pleasant. My husband ordered the lighter portion of salmon..the server said she needed to check to make sure they had it..went to the back when she came back all she said was "go ahead." We finished ordering..she brought out my salad a few minutes later. After I finished my salad..talked for a while..made a phone call..and said the food should be coming out. A few minutes later my food arrived and said my husbands would be out next. I started eating and the server came back and said there was no salmon in the place and what else would he like. My husband asked why it took so long to tell him and then said he wanted nothing. Evidently it didn't matter that she supposedly checked earlier. My husband left and I waited to get my food to go. The manager finally came out and we discussed what had happened. He then told me the server said my husband had disrespected her. After this, I was upset. Told him I needed my food to go and the check where I could pay for mine and we would never be back. I told him that I had a major problem with the server not telling the truth. At this point he was extremely apologetic and said this would be reported to his manager. He told me there was no charge for my food. I am not sure exactly what happened..whether she really checked to see if they had salmon, forgot to place his order, whatever. Walked in and sat down with my wife and child. After waiting for more than 10 minutes and seeing another table sat and receive their drink order, we questioned why we were there. The waiter came up to us complaining about his day and how the other server who was to relieve him was not there yet. He took our drink order and was gone. I watched him hand our drink order to our server when he finally arrived. By this time the other table beside us was receiving their appetizer. We waited for our drinks as I watched our original waiter bring drinks to his tables while we were still waiting on ours. We got up and left but not before I asked to speak to a manager who couldn't have been more apathetic to my concerns. I would much rather pay a premium at another restaurant and receive better service. I have worked in the restaurant business before and know what to expect. I am sympathetic to the waitstaff to a fault sometimes but this was ridiculous. There is a reason the fish in Cheddar's are eating rocks at the bottom of the tank. It's because they can't get served. I came here for my birthday, first, our waiter kept running off, and he kept passing us by and didn't ask us if we needed anything. For the food the pasta , and spinach dip I had was good, but the pasta was a little dry. And it took them 20 minutes to bring my cousin his burger after everyone got their food. Plus my other cousin DIDN'T GET HER drink until her food came. AND EVERYONE who ordered a side salad, it never came, Plus when we going to eat cake. We asked our waiter to clear the table. Waitress was not pleasant and only became friendly when I asked for her name which was Amanda. The food was great but wished we could have had better service. She brought our check didn't ask if we wanted dessert just left us. I always try to make them smile somehow to brighten their day because I know it's a difficult job but this didn't work either. However she was friendly with the table in front of us because they were her friends. Really Bad Server and the Worst Cooks. I try to see the best at a restaurant, because it's a very demanding field, however this time I couldn't. First, we were lead to a dirty booth, next it took about 10 mins to get a server to get water, and then 10 mins to take the food order.  At this point I was still patient because it was a little busy at 8:45 pm.  Once the appetizer was out (it took 10 for cheese and chips), it took 35 mins for the main course to arrive. At this time, it's 9:25 when our order arrived.  Every meal had the wrong items, plus my husband's pork chop was raw.  Great thing I told him to cut near the bone before eating. :l That's a lawsuit waiting to happen, if he had eaten it and gotten sick. A new pork chop was made, but by this time I wasn't hungry any more. After speaking with the manager he did a good job comping a part of the meal.  After driving 10 hours that day on a cross country roadtrip, I was looking forward to a great meal. Instead, I was greatly disappointed. I've been to several Cheddars before, but after this experience, I will not be returning anytime soon.  We travel a great deal for business and fun, now Cheddars will not be on our go-to list. read more

I should preface this by saying that I have never written a bad review before for anything. I've never felt the need to do anything but praise an establishment. However, tonight my family and I dined at this location for the first time. The food was great - no complaints there! But the service was terrible. Some family members asked for Potato soup before their meals. Our entrees came and our waitress asked if we needed anything else. Just the soups and side items that were missing. She said ok. We wait like 5 or 10 minutes and still nothing so we start eating thinking she will be along any minute. 20-30 mins go by and still nothing and we are done eating. She finally comes by to clear plates and we remind her about the soups and sides. She says nothing - no im sorry or I apologize or anything even remotely resembling remorse so my family awkwardly says guess we will get it to-go then and then she then looked annoyed. I understand things get busy and you get overwhelmed - no big deal but just say I'm sorry or comp the items on the bill or SOMETHING. Don't look ticked off when we ask for food we are still paying for to-go. We left never being anything but friendly & tipped 20%. It's almost Christmas so we aren't gonna tell manager or call her out by name but I hope she one day reads this and re-evaluates a career in customer service. read more

My wife and I decided to go out to eat last night. We were discussing where to go, and decided on Cheddar's in Cordova. Neither of us had ever heard of this restaurant. Their online menu says that the food "is made from scratch". So we decided to check it out. We arrived at roughly 7:45pm. The wait was about 15 minutes, which was fine. I had high hopes because the decor is really nice. We're seated at the table, and the Server comes by. Dude is sweating like he just got finished running a 5K. He makes his introduction, takes our drink order and says that he'll be back shortly to take our food order. He didn't make eye contact once. Apparently there was some really interesting shit going on around the ceiling. Even though our server was a strange fellow, I still had high hopes. We got two waters pretty quickly, but our bar drinks took about 15 munutes. We decided to order the cheese sticks as an appetizer while we enjoyed our alc. bevies. We told the Server that we would like to wait a bit to order our entrees. (side note: To us, there is nothing worse than waiting 15 minutes for an appetizer, or soup/salad, and the entrees are pretty much delivered immediately after. Then you're left with a full table of food, and something will be wasted.) When we were ordering the appetizer, again the Server didn't make eye contact once. So strange. The cheese sticks came out pretty quickly (within 10 minutes). After the first bite, I knew something was up. They were really salty, and the cheese was about the consistency of uncooked string cheese. So I knew that these things were frozen. Cheese sticks are about the easiest thing in the world to make. We ordered our entrees a few minutes later. I got chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes "off the cob" corn. My wife got the small filet (cooked medium) with a side of grilled shrimp, carrots and green beans. The entrees came out pretty quickly too (15 or 20 minutes). I looked at the plate that a random Server put in front of me, and said to my wife, "This isn't made from scratch". There is no doubt in my mind that everything on my plate was frozen. I took a bite of the chicken fried steak, and thought to myself, "This is disgusting". My wife didn't get the grilled shrimp, and told the random Server about it. She said, "Oh, your Server didn't put that on the order. I'll tell him." Her filet had perfect grill marks that looked like they were drawn on with a permanent marker. WTF. Could it be that the steak was frozen too, and already had fake grill marks on it? Grill marks don't look like that. She cut into the steak, and saw that it was well-done. She took a bite and said, "It tastes like a warm sponge". Nothing on her plate had any flavor at all. All of the vegetables that we had were obviously either from a can or frozen. The Server came by to apologize about the missing shrimp. Dude was sweating still profusely, which was pretty gross. He said that the cooks had forgotten to put them on the plate, and that they had gotten cold. They were going to make some fresh for her. Again, eye contact was not made once. It's getting a little annoying at this point. I asked my wife, "Do you want to eat this crap"? She shook her head and said, "Hell no". Server came back by our area, so I grabbed him and pulled him aside. I didn't want to make a fuss and embarass him in front of other patrons. Maybe some people enjoy eating crap like this, or were just having a great time. Anyway. I told him that the food wasn't good, and that we weren't going to eat it. I asked him to take it away, and said that we would take another round of drinks and not eat tonight. I honestly needed something to get that disgusting taste out of my mouth. Server apologized, and I assured him that it wasn't anything that he did. The food was just disgusting, totally out of his control. It took about 20 minutes to get our second round of drinks. I thought that since the restaurant knew that we had an issue, we'd get these drinks pretty quickly. Whatever. While we're waiting for them, and for the check to come around, the Manager comes by to talk to us about it. Her name was Angel. She asked if it was the food that made us unhappy, or the Server. I told her that the food was disgusting, but that our Server had been doing okay. She asked me what I had, and I told her. She said, "Yeah, I don't recommend that anyone gets the chicken fried steak. It's just not good at all." I told her that the online menu said that the food was made from scratch, but that it was obvious that everything was frozen. Then my wife told her about hers, and the Manager took the food off of our check. So we ended up with a $40 check for cheese sticks and four bar drinks, and no dinner. By this point it was 9:30pm. Our food was served hot and promptly. Our waitress was nice and attentive. The food is American fare, but good, large portions (large enough for take home boxes). My family and I were all satisfied with our food orders from this restaurant. Not one complaint among us. The environment was casual and lively. I recommend this place. Be prepared to wait! I went to Cheddars 2/14, we got there around 9 due to my husband working late. We had a tall table by the bar and behind the hostess stand. Our waitress was awful she never came to check on us my sweet tea stay empty, our salads came out with our dinner. I order a steak Medium and I couldnt cut it with my steak knife and I had to use the other kind of knife they give you. On my second piece I CHOKE both of my airways were block and I saw my hands turning blue. I got out of my chair and went by my husband when he realized i was choking and he did the hemiach memover (spelling) on me. The steak eventually came up after 4-5 tries. This hole process was over a min of me having both airways block. I am balling my eyes out and so is my husband, we both thought I could have just died. I went to the car and my husband stayed in to get the bill. Not ONE hostess, server,bartendar,or manager said ANYTHING to my husband & I. They all stared at us but did not ask if i was ok or if we needed help. My husband finally got the bill afer a good 20 mins. My husband paid our bill and tipped. We never complain one time during our awful time before the choking my husband didnt even say anything to a manager after because he was so upset that he almost lost his wife. Our server did not even ask. Our table was by the bar, They were all looking at us after this happen. The next day I call and talk to a manager and she told me the same thing had happen the week before!!! So i diffentley wanted to talk to the general manager knowing this was twice in a 2 week period. I talk to the general manager today, and he told me it wasnt there responsiablitie to care if somebody was choking they dont have to response to it. Luckly for me my husband is a paramedic and knew what to do, but if he didn't. He would be planning funnel for his wife of 3 months. There customer service is SOOO SAD that they dont care about there customers, because imagine this being your loved one. As a human being i would care if i saw someone choking. And by the way i wasnt looking for anything when I called besides the acknowledgement of what happen to help make there employers be more prepare... which could have saved a life... read more
