When she brought out the complementary rolls and placed them on our table ketchup was smeared across the table from the bottom of the tin, as well as an old fry. Their fries don't already come with ketchup and so we were left to assume our food was on top of old (trash) food. Her response was it happened in the wash... Really, FRESH KETCHUP. Well, this is not a first time visit to Cheddar's so I'm fairly familiar with the menu and I've visited enough to have also developed a few favorites as well. However, I didn't go with any of those this time and was not disappointed. I started with the Coconut Shrimp appetizer which came in a generous portion (6) of fairly large gulf shrimp which were battered and fried in a light coconut breading and some sort of white dipping sauce which I did not sample because I'm not a fan of mayo based sauces. Overall taste was great and extremely filling, almost seemed like the main course. (side note: The shrimp in the photo may seem a little dark but I requested that it be a little harder fried as I prefer fully cooked seafood.) Next up was my entree, which I choose the 5oz version of the salmon which was blackened and seasoned. It also came with glaze that you see in the small bowl which was also very good. Loaded mash was a mix of flakes and real cut potatoes, not sure how I felt about that because the consistency was confusing to my palate but ok. The red beans and rice would probably qualify as the star of the evening, very well seasoned especially with the chunks of meat throughout the beans. The only room for improvement there would have been a larger portion. Overall, it was a great experience as usual, very modestly priced "comfort" food in a clean and pleasant setting. I will also add that this place has gained an enormous urban following because of it's low priced menu and food selections therefore has gotten crowded, so expect a wait time of 30+ minutes as the norm especially on the weekends. (They could stand to improve the wait area, it's very small and with so many people standing around waiting to receive their "table available" text, I recommend waiting in your car.) read more

Classic family restaurant that has great meals. My complaint has to do with hospitality and atmosphere. It was incredibly loud in the section we were seated. To the point that we were almost yelling at each other across the table. Additionally, it was FREEZING! Grown men around us were hunkered over rubbing their legs and arms. When I asked if we could have the fan shut off (which was blowing on us directly) we got a so-so answer. Other areas of the restaurant were extremely comfortable- but not our section. My toddler was shaking in my lap. It got so bad by the time our food came we could barely eat we were so uncomfortable and just asked for boxes and the check. every time i come here i get the croissants and the appetizer nachos as my meal and it's soooo good. a few weeks ago i came here to get a to go order. got home and realized my order was wrong. called and the guy said he'd fix it. came back and he brought it out to me no problem. i wish i would've remembered his name. i think it started with an A. he was so kind and helpful especially during a busy time with all the to go orders. great job. read more

I love Cheddars and so does my family. We seem to always eat here while in Columbus- especially if we want a lot of food for not a lot of money. Tonight the service was GREAT; our waitress was Brie and she was attentive, quick and super on-top-of-it. A lot of us got the country fried steak with sides- really good! If I could say be negative, the breading eclipse the meat inside. My sisters Monte Cristo was hot and she enjoyed it! My daughters chicken fingers and fries were hot and delicious! SERVICE: We were in town for a concert and dined in for dinner. Brian J. made our dining experience great! He is so down to earth and personable and I loved that he asked if it was our first time there. Although it was not, he still suggested drinks and in order to recommend certain drinks, he started off asking what type of liquor we liked. This was a great start to dinner. Brian was knowledgeable about the menu and was very attentive. We didn't have to look for him for anything because he checked back on us frequently. Brian is an excellent server. FOOD: The menu is pretty extensive. There are options for everyone and the prices are extremely fair; almost underpriced! The portion sizes are pretty large. ATMOSPHERE: Casual. We had an hour long wait. Once we sat down we ordered right away. My hubby ordered a steak well done and when it was brought out it was literally still bleeding. We asked for them to put it back on the grill and burn it if they have to. The 2nd time it came out it was still really pink, by that time my hubby was over it and just asked the waiter to take it off our bill. The waiter did say that his manager took it off. Horrible experience. Decided to go to Cheddars after church on yesterday (Sunday, Oct.15, 2023). Got there at 11:30 and was told that since we had a party of 13 that they had to sit us at separate tables IN separate areas, because the servers can only serve 1 table at a time. The hostess and manager told us that since our party was larger than 8 people, this was the policy. The restaurant was almost empty and was not crowded. Then the manager came out and told us the same amd if we want 2 tables in the same area, it would be an hour wait. So we left and went to Ruby Tuesday's and was able to all sit at the same table with 1 server who was wonderful. read more

I LOVE CHEDDAR'S!!! there I said it. I first fell in love with this place in Ft. Meyers. As always I orderd the catfish dinner with fries. The fish was cooked perfectly with healthy portions. The fries were also hot, seasoned and crispy. I ordered a top shelf long island. The Ladybug ordered the catfish dinner as well with chesse-rice-brocholli. We were sit at a dirty table that was not wiped down at 3:30pm with only a few people eating in the place: During Covid. I requested a high chair with the hostess before we were seated. After 5 minutes (not exaggerating) of standing around the dirty table with my family, we still didn't have a high chair and no server came to us. Two servers looked at us and walked by without saying anything during the 5 minutes we stood there. On the way out the door, the hostess--who said she was getting us a high chair--asked us why we were leaving I'm new to Yelp, wish I would've taken a picture of the dirty table and chairs. read more

The restaurant has been around for several years and it really needs a facelift. I haven't been there in several years because I thought it was too loud but last time I went and it hasn't changed much. The service was good Albeit a little slow but that was because the kitchen was slow. We had a soup and baked potato,. The food wasn't bad but very serving controlled. My wife is on a gluten free diet, doctor ordered. When I asked for a gluten-free menu the waiter said they had one, it was simply a bread Free menu. No gluten-free foods on the menu.. four instance they offered a pasta salad but the gluten-free menu simply said no pasta. How would you like a pasta free pasta salad, especially if they charge the same for the pasta free or the pasta full salad. There is also no Wi-Fi offered to the guests. In two days world a restaurant that doesn't offer Wi-Fi is really Not customer friendly. read more

Cheddar Scratch Kitchen has some amazing food, but like all restaurants they are experiencing a shortage waiters and other qualified staffers to go with their ever evolving menu. I have yet to have a bad meal, comfort in every bite. It is the wait time to be seated. I definitely would here more often if I had a two hour lunch break, the to go dishes are great, but not the same as dining in. Nonetheless I see myself recommending Cheddar's for dinner and catering events. Take care of your chefs, get more incentives for waitresses read more

I honestly cannot remember what I had when I went here, check my stepmother here for her birthday I think I remember having call Murray and I know that was good then I may have had a pasta dish, I'm from the Pacific Northwest (well honestly I'm from New York) but I've been in the Pacific Northwest for the last 30 something years, the south is new to me. This place was pretty good it reminds me a little bit of the Olive Garden and Applebee's. But apparently this is her favorite place so she loved it, her birthday was two months ago sorry I'm late on the review. We came around 8:30pm and it was super busy we had to wait 40 minutes before being sat. When I noticed they had a lot of open tables which didn't make since why they didn't sit people sooner. Anyhow, Bree was our server and she was great she greeted us and took our order with ease. Delivered food hot and fresh she went above and beyond to serve us. The quality of food was good the junior burger was perfect for my little one, she kept saying how delicious it was and devoured the burger. The fries weren't our favorite and we had a lot left over. The chicken tenders were great perfectly battered and fried, juicy in the middle and crispy on the outside. The pot pie was a little watery when you first popped it open, but after mixing all together it became perfect thickness the flavor was awesome as well. The Wisconsin cheese bites were a perfect appetizer pair perfect with the ranch dip. I wasn't a real fan of the spinach dip but it was decent the cross is ya at the beginning were light and fluffy with a nice sweet buttery taste. Last but not least was the Monte Cristo it was good but definitely filling it's best with the Raspberry jam if you consume alone you can taste the frying oil which is a little to heavy for me I could only take a bite and that was enough for me. When we walked in, the lady at the hostess station didn't even greet us. Then when we finally got seated in the bar area. The seats were dirty on one side and the other side/seat of the booth was wet. It was me and my 2 little kids it's 416pm on a Thursday. The restaurant wasn't busy. After sitting in the Lobby for 40 minutes we finally got our table, half the restaurant was empty. We ordered to frozen margaritas that took an additional 30 minutes to come out. We got our food that was cold and had the wrong side dishes. Cheddars used to be one of my favorite restaurants but I will never come back. The food was delicious. We had grilled blackened white fish and grilled blackened chicken. We would recommend both. The staff was nice but it was very slow service. It dining room was filthy. Overall, very disappointed in this new restaurant. The high point was the cheddar cheese dip which we got free with a coupon. I'd recommend that. And the steamed broccoli was good. The rest... We asked for a quiet booth but were seated in the noisy bar with just one waitress. She acted like she was having a bad day. No smiles. Service was so slow we nearly walked out. Should have. The tilapia was fishy to me but ok, not great, for my husband. Very salty. The sweet carrots were made with too much sugar. The ribs were marginal. Lots of fat and not much flavor. We just picked at them, not worth taking home. The shrimp was too salty and one tasted like chlorine. We ran into the manager and his boss on our way out. He was kind enough to comp us a future meal. The food just did not taste good to me. The service was great, the atmosphere was fine. The taste of the food just wasn't good. I ordered the catfish and green beans. The green beans were supposed to be flavored with bacon, but they were very sweet and the catfish was heavily battered and not cooked well. Good staff. read more

The food was good as usual. However the burger I ordered med rare came out like the took a frozen patty put it either in the microwave for 30 secs or ploped it on the grill 15 secs a side, was not edible. But all other food was great. The worst part of my experience was the manager, Tony Murphy, he walked by my table about 4 times taking the computers down from the other tables complaining that he had only had 1 bussers and was slow to clean tables for that fact. He however stood around with his hands in his pocket like he was to good to clean a table. When I managed a restaurant stepping up was apart of it. I also never had 4 host standing at the front. How about training them to take dishes off the table to the back instead of complaining loud enough for customers to hear. read more

Perfect amount, great customer service. We had a party of 16 and everyone had a good time with great food. I did order the New Orleans pasta and it was not hot. When I asked for it to be returned they handled it and it came back perfect. Everything we ordered had huge portions and was made to order. This was my first time there but I definitely will be back.
