While visiting my grandson, who just completed basic training, I found The Flying Biscuit Cafe on Google. So, my hope was that the restaurant would live up to their ratings. We arrived early and were waiting for the rest of party. I was impressed by the vibe when we walked in. Then Jennifer took time to say hi, get us a few drinks, and make recommendations on what to eat. The Hangover Hash was outstanding! So much so, we returned two days later and ordered the same dish. Delicious food, tried the first time and definitely will be back again. The service was great. Our server recommended the beignet doughnuts and the peach mimosas, best decision ever. I'm usually not a grits fan, but I took a chance and tried them. They tasted delicious, as well as the egg Benedict. The place is a little noisy due to the high ceilings, so I'll recommend sitting outside if that's an option. Other than that 10/10 for this place. read more

There's always a long wait at this location no matter what time I try to come. Finally got to sit down and try this one out after waiting 40 minutes and it's not the usual flying biscuit experience I'm used to. The layout of this location makes everything seem so crowded and I hate that food that is ready to be served is put on a ledge where EVERYONE walks past it and it can sit there for a while getting cold. Service is still slow once you sit down but better than the wait to even sit down. Everyone seemed confused like it was their first day. My server tried to convince me that the chicken sausage patty should be pink on the inside because it comes pre-cooked...no. Great spot for breakfast! 1st time in Columbus, love this city, Love the food and the staff was pretty cool! No dress code for the workers which I thought was cool! Parking lot can get full but overall nice spot. The only thing that caught my attention that I wasnt a fan of is when they put the food thats ready for pickup for the servers to pick up on the ledge which is right where the walkway for people to be seated and when they are leaving. It just takes one person to cough or sneeze while walking pass your food and you hope the servers will catch it and make another plate for you. Its not a big resturant and I get it but thats the only thing I really caught that stuck out for me! Overall I would go back because the food is really good. read more

Visited on a Sunday around 3pm. There wasn't a ton of parking available which almost made us leave until we lucked up on a parking space. There also wasn't a wait to be seated. Each table is wrapped in some type of table cloth with various patterns. There was also some light music playing. We ordered our food at 3:03 pm and received it 20 minutes later. I must say that I was pleasantly surprised. Each bite of my omelette was filled with deliciousness. The grits had a watery consistency. Check it out for yourself. My sister and I had a breakfast date on 8/21/24. After dropping her kids off to school. We headed to this restaurant that she selected to make me try for the first time. The interior is nice, clean and bright. We started off with Green Fried tomatoes appetizer $8.99. It was yummy and crispy. It was lightly battered and the season well. For our drinks, we got the cappuccino I ordered the mini shrimp and grits requested cajun spice $8.49. This was delicious and flavorful My sister ordered the smoked Salmon scramble $12.99. This was delicious and the salmon had pretty fishy taste We also ordered a side of Belgian waffle to share. It was light and airy (not dense). Our server was pretty prompt to take our orders and timely in serving us our food. She was a little but to eager to clear our plates when we weren't quite done. Seemed like she was in a hurry for some odd reason. She gave us our check in the middle of us eating and we almost felt a little rushed to eat and get out. This didn't deter us. The breakfast is so good here. Hot Chicken & Waffles sauce is amazing! I'm looking to buy some of the sauce. If you like grits - do it! If you have never tried Apple Butter - they are well known for theirs. The wait staff is attentive and pleasant. Made the visit worth it! The location is easy to get to with ample parking. There are collective shops in the same location to check out! Next door is Nonic which looks like a great place for lunch or dinner. I was denied going in the side door even though it says, Welcome. We visited Flying Biscuit Café for breakfast and unfortunately had a very uncomfortable experience. The air inside the restaurant was set extremely cold -- around 65°F -- while it was only about 45°F outside. It made it very difficult to enjoy our meal because several of us were literally freezing. We politely asked if the manager could adjust the temperature so customers could be more comfortable. Instead of addressing the concern, she responded nonchalantly to a server saying, "Well it's gonna be hot later on so..." and nothing was done. Customer comfort should matter, especially during breakfast hours when it's cold outside. Restaurants like Cracker Barrel often run their fireplaces in conditions like this, and even Olive Garden had theirs on when we visited recently. It also wasn't just our table -- multiple guests looked uncomfortable due to the temperature. That response alone made it clear customer comfort wasn't a priority. Unfortunately, because of this experience, we do not plan on returning. Do better. read more

While traveling we do our best to understand and comply with various local ordinances and it was our understanding that if you visit "The Flying Biscuit Cafe" in Columbus, Georgia, and neglect to place an order that features their biscuits, it is considered not only poor form, but can also be prosecuted as a misdemeanor. ‍ Therefore, and because we strive to live the lives of law abiding citizens, we dutifully ordered both the "Flying Biscuit Breakfast" and the "Honey Butter Chicken Benedict." While the former dish featured a biscuit front and center, the latter slyly concealed it under generous layers of cheesy eggs and chicken. In both instances the quality of the biscuit greatly complimented each meal and affirmed the reason for its local legend status. Perhaps it was just me, but I also greatly appreciated what I considered to be veiled musical references on their menu including: "Drops of Jupiter" (), "Freebird" (), and "Best I Ever Had" (). As if enjoying a terrific breakfast wasn't already enough, we also greatly enjoyed meeting General Manager Justin Whittaker and listening to him explain his concept for this relatively new restaurant and his appreciation for the freehand artistry displayed by Atlanta craftsman @gordosartproject when adding the murals to this space. You may also be interested to know that the grits were cheesy, delicious, and sweet; the ingredients they use are from scratch and homemade; and they offer multiple Vegetarian and Vegan options. Wish I could rate the food but it never came. We walked in before 8:00 and there were very few people. Our server brought us coffee and took our order right away and that's where it ended. 30 minutes later more than a dozen people had come in, gotten their food, and some finished. I have been to this location several times and I have never been disappointed. They have ample seating and they are family friendly. Their food is amazing and it is perfect after a hard workout if you need some extra calories, or if you just want to have an amazing breakfast. Went to this location today around 2:45PM. Requested to be seated outside as we we're meeting my parents with their dog. Was told that we would be unable to receive service on the patio seating. It was about 70 degrees out today so unsure why they felt the need to not service the patio as all other downtown restaurants were doing today. The hostess also mentioned the kitchen would only be open about another hour, it very much seemed like they had 0 interest in our business. We will enjoy the flying biscuit at their other locations but we will not be returning to this one. read more

Fun, eclectic place to try. Location/parking: In the Highside Market - fun area with lots of shops/restaurants. Ambiance: Fun, quirky, bright decor. It's a little loud when it's busy, and I think it's busy a lot. Service: Lacking. Everyone's order came except for one person. We all finished eating and it still didn't come. I tried to get someone's attention as they walked by but it's like they all just looked the other direction. I said that we should just leave and ask them to take that item off our tab, but my son really wanted to eat it, so we finally flagged someone down who wasn't our waiter and she got it for us right away. I think it was just sitting there and no one brought it out to our table - I think it must have been like 20 min or so that we were just waiting at the end. No one ever came by to check and see how the food was. Food: I got the hot dirty bird - basically hot chicken on waffles with gravy. I should have ordered the dirty bird because the sourness of the hot sauce didn't match the rest of the dish. And it soaked into the waffle making it off-putting. The Flying Biscuit Breakfast was standard - grits were really good though. The french toast didn't come until the VERY end after aggressively flagging someone down. My son said it was good. I think they looked a little small. Recommendation: Meh - I don't think I'll be back. The food was pretty good, but the service was sub-par. read more

First time here. This place has only been open a few months and all I can say is it's filthy. We arrived at 08:15am and the floors are covered with food crumbs. The table where we were sat at had food on the bench, chair and table. The tables next to us had the same issue. The silverware was extremely worn and had food particles on it. What is a bit mind-boggling is that it's a new place, but it feels a bit run down/dated. The silverware that we had exchanged was still dirty and had a decent chip in the middle of the backside of the spoon. The service is not welcoming, but cordial. It felt like the staff was still waking up. One person was new and receiving training. During her training I saw her mentor sweeping food off a table with her hand. That's a bit disturbing as this is what I now imagine is their " cleaning" process. Food came out in a decent time. Food was like a step up from a Waffle House. Nothing to come back for. They're in the corner building but enter off 13th. inside development called high side market. No reservations. They cater. Outdoor patio seating when weather permits. Creative menu served all day. Nice big windows letting in lots of light. In morning some seating is in high sun. My wife wore sunglasses at the table. Restaurant is in restored building with original brick walls in interior. I got the biscuit fried chicken Benedict with honey butter sauce side of grits. Grits flavor awesome and chicken was cooked great and was delicious My wife got two eggs and grits and it came out barely warm and my grits tasted room temperature, so I think they're sorting out some kitchen timing stuff. Waitress ran my card for twice the amount of our food. When she realized the error, the assistant manager said to check for a refund in 5-7 days from my bank. I asked for a confirmation # or transaction ID to confirm that it was refunded/voided on their end. She said only the GM can do it and he was not at the store at the moment. I offered to wait, then she said he was out of town for the rest of the day but would get the info as requested from him. Then she said there is no such thing as what I was asking for. She showed me someone else's payment information but not mine. The food was good but beware, they are not careful with card information and will charge you incorrectly and then put it on you to fix it with your bank. This was my second time here. The first time was a way better experience for me. Let me just say the service here is usually pretty good. However, I stated what kind of bread I wanted for my french toast, but my it fell on deaf ears. Never even asked how the food was which was odd to me (servers usually ask how the food is). Food is also pretty good depending on what you order. I got the georgia peach waffle thing and thought it was delicious. Also the mimosa flight was a pretty cool experience too. My favorite is the cranberry! The layout of the restaurant could have been better also. I find it inconvenient walking inside for a table and the walkway is for one way traffic only. So you'd have to wait off to the side if a server or guest is walking or leaving. read more

This is a very mediocre breakfast place in a cool new area that holds different types of restaurants and bars. At least the biscuits were okay (when the waitress remembered to finally bring them) but the remainder of the meal was nothing special. I was really looking forward to the sausage but it was dry and overcooked and even though it had good flavor it was hardly eatable. The chicken and waffles and breakfast tacos looked like a better choice. Maybe if I come back I will try them instead. read more

It is one of my favorite Restaurants However, the Manager Justin is the epidemy of what awful management and customer service looks like which makes the Chain Flying Biscuit look VERY BAD? I would think the manager would FIND OUT what's going on with the food that was brought out wrong and the order was placed correctly and the food kept being brought out wrong and BURNT, instead of INQUIRING what's going on, he yells and says of Yall got to go. Get out and don't come back, you are not allowed to come back here" We was already about to leave but the way he said it very rude and loudly. He followed behind one of my party members and kept yelling at him. I have seen Justin before talking loudly and rudely with customers before.
