The attitudes from most employees are terrible. Most of the food is good depending on the time u go I have had bad meals not all the times. There are 1 or 2 employees that actually smile Most are bad attitudes. I was eating there everyday day I'm a veteran same meal sometime u get a healthy portion but Most of the time for what u pay u want to get what u pay for not smaller helping because the employees don't want to be there. The service was great and the Sunday after church crowd kept filling the line up. Good thing we got there when we did are we may had to get it to go. This place is AMAZING!! We came to Columbus from California for an Army graduation. Being from California we have never tried authentic southern cooking. We found Ed's while driving around exploring the city. Being that we have never tried anything, we tried EVERYTHING. Let me tell you the FLAVOR, omg. I ordered the baked chicken, the sides on got was mashed potatoes with chicken gravy, Mac n cheese and candied yams. There was not one thing on there I didn't enjoy. The juiciest chicken I've ever tasted. My husband couldn't decide so he ordered ribs, smothered pork chop, pigs feet, fried chicken, potato salad, macaroni salad, cabbage, and zucchini. He ate almost everything!! It was all delicious. My sister got the chicken, collard greens, dressing with gravy and cranberry sauce (I tried that and it was amazing) From everything we ordered there was not one thing that we didn't enjoy. If you're looking for some authentic down home southern cooking, this place is it!! Oh and I didn't even mention the customer service! Every one was so kind and friendly. l went Ed's Country Kitchen for Dinner Saturday.. I ordered roast beef, mashed potatoes, lima beans and cabbage.. paid for my meal and went to sit down to eat . started to eat the mashed potatoes were cold. The roast beef wasn't warm, but the vegetables were hot. I went to the cashier to let them know that my mashed potatoes were cold and my roast beef had a lot of fat in it. The cashier was nice and friendly, but the person serving the food on the line was not. She said roast beef have fried it I said, but this has more fat than me. There's nothing we can do about it so I said you selling it? Unfortunately I have to lower my review rating of Ed's to reflect several topics that should be taken into account as well as Ed's local competition in the area. Since writing my previous review I have not visited Ed's and do not foresee any visits in my future either. Now, I still like Ed's and their food is fine and I have no problem visiting again in the future, but I've since started going to another southern cooking restaraunt and like it enough that I will always choose them over Ed's. The biggest problem/issue/concern of mine with Ed's is the price. They aren't outrageously priced or even highly overpriced, but when considering the portions and options the total on my bill always seems high to me. If I start to add on a sweet tea (which costs literally nothing to a restaurant), a slice of cake (again, costs nearly nothing), or an extra roll (again, almost no cost), the bill goes up by too much in my opinion. I don't have any major complaints, but Ed's health and safety score has bothered me since I saw it. I won't bring up specifics here in this review and just say that I pay attention to those types of things and the score plays a major factor in whether or not I enjoy the food or if I ever go back. I compare it to Ed's competition as well when considering where to go eat and it's not hard to find a higher ranking establishment. I considering not even mentioning this last part because I wonder if it's all in my head, but thinking about my experience with the restaurant I currently frequent makes it hard to ignore. The restaurant I currently go to has employees who seem genuinely happy to see us, the cooks/servers (who are performing the same function/task as those at Ed's) know who we are and ask about whatever it was that we spoke about before, wish us well and use their mouths to speak some form of "goodbye" to us, and that is just not what I ever received at Ed's. I'm not sure why but we did not get spoken to unless required. Not even greetings, farewells, or pleasantries were provided in REPLY to ours. And i never forgot my "please" or "thank you" and I'm positive I never received more than maybe one "you're welcome" in return. Makes me kind of sad. read more

The food was delicious with a great selection, the employees are super friendly and kind, and the atmosphere was fantastic! A great place to take the family and enjoy an awesome meal! The first location is better. I feel like some short cuts are made on the side dishes that are served everyday. I the mac and cheese look good but trust me it is not. I been eating at Eds for over two years the last year the mac is not good. They do give you plenty of food and the deserts are nice. read more

You will receive better treatment going through a low quality fast food restaurant. I have been looking for a great southern style Meat and Three restaurant since moving here. Ed's is ok. I did not have any one thing that made me want to go back again. Cafeteria style food tends to dry out and some of the side items fell victim to that. Of the two meat items chosen, the hamburger steak was better. The pork chop was over cooked. The collards were very good. I was also not crazy about the tea, but I don't like lemons and it has a strong lemon flavor to it. read more

I got the turkey wings with and cranberry sauce (included) with mac and cheese and collards. Now I consider myself a collard green connoisseur and these collards were perfect. Stopped here for dinner tonight. Seriously good food. Second time I've had the turkey wings and I think it's the best in the area. The mac & cheese is fantastic. Overpriced cafeteria quality food with very small meat portions and no menu before you order from the buffet line. We ended up with a $44 lunch for two and we both left still hungry. The only sauces they have are home-made disgusting, heavily re-used jars of spiced vinegar and Louisiana hot sauce. You can't even see the food through the glass counter. For locals only, who know how to ask for exactly what they want. For a visitor, search for steak houses in town where you can get FAR superior food for reasonable prices.
