After having dinner at another restaurant which was sold out of dessert, they recommended walking just down the street to chattermarks for dessert. We are so glad we did! They had the largest dessert menu we'd seen in town! We ordered a hot brownie alamode to-go. When we got back to our Hotel to enjoy it, the brownie was still a piping hot, double thick, melt-in-your-mouth delight, with a big scoop or Icecream to go with it. Would definitely come back for this brownie again. We came about 20 minutes before closing and while we waited for our to-go order we observed at least 2 parties of 3 and 4 people tried to be seated within 15 minutes of closing, but they were already clearly at capacity inside for one server, and couldn't seat that many people so close to closing, which I felt like was completely understandable when everywhere in town is so short staffed. This place has always been busy when we walk by, so come early! read more

What a ****show. When we arrived off the train in Seward (at lunch time), this was literally the only open restaurant. As you can imagine, there was a very long wait to be seated here and everyone was starving. They had two people working and I have to give them props - they were literally running around the restaurant trying to serve everyone (this is the only reason this restaurant is getting more than 1 star from me). This was our first view of the crazy staffing shortages that Seward as a whole are currently experiencing. They, like most of Seward, had no gluten free options. They made us a burger with no bun which unfortunately wasn't very good. All in all, just not a good dining experience - especially for a GF eater. read more

Great, attentive, and friendly service. Decent food. I went there because of the photos on here showing a pound of king crab for around $50. Market price has increased to $99 as of yesterday. Like many Alaskan restaurants, this was a mixed bag. The fish & chips was average, the grilled cheese standard and not very interesting, the sweet potato fries probably from frozen, the Greek salad had many of the right ingredients, but just didn't come together, had no flavor whatsoever. But the seafood chowder was delicious, the reindeer stew just fabulous - both clearly home-made. Also on the plus side, their selection of beers and cider was good: Whaler's wheat beer, various IPAs from Alaskan breweries, Angry Orchard hard cider ... so that was good. When you go to order, ask the waiter about the items - find out what's home-made and fresh, and stick to that. We'll go back when they re-open in the spring ... they've just closed for the season (mid-September). read more

Food was amazing, I ordered the mac & cheese with a side of sweet potato fries. we had andrew as our server and he was extremely attentive and made sure to factor in my food allergy's and was still extremely kind and caring. he was extremely patient and nice even though it was later at around 8:00 pm.The mac n cheese was amazing it was not cheesy but it was super creamy flavorful, I could definitely tell they had spent a long time perfecting the Mac and cheese recipe. we also ordered a burger and a salad. Great place to grab dinner after a hardy day outside. Highly recommend the chowder - it's served in a mug so it stays hot until the end. Very creamy but not overpowering, and there's generous portions of seafood and potatoes. Added the salmon LT on the side which was a good toasty sandwich too. read more

We went on Memorial Day weekend. They claimed to have re-opened for the season just 6 days before we arrived. They were out of almost 25% of their menu items and discovered their "reindeer meatloaf" was still frozen from being shipped in. We settled on the reindeer soup with grilled cheese sandwich along with their salmon burger and "garlic Parmesan" fries. The soup was very watery. The grilled cheese was soggy white bread with a yellow cheese but for $6??? The salmon burger was cooked well but the pickled onions were very spicy and crunchy still. Not a good first meal in Seward. The garlic fries lacked garlic and were drowned in a mayo based sauce which was cold. The waiter was pleasant but never returned to the table after our plates arrived and only after we stood to leave. Then they are a no cash business!?! Who refuses cash??? I have a hard time getting too excited about a hamburger. It takes very little to earn a poor review for such a humble offering. My hopes are not high when we arrived at the Chattermark as there were no other diners in the place. It is fair to say that the stage was set for a pleasant surprise. The dining area was clean, clutter free, and tidy. We were seated, menued, and watered immediately. The menu consisted mostly of hamburgers and a couple of other sandwich offerings. It was a pleasant surprise to see reindeer meat as an alternative two beef. My dinner partner, Fuzz, tried the Reindeer Stew and the Smoky Burger with the reindeer patty. I ordered the Seafood Chowder and the Smoky Burger with beef with fries. Our food came out amazingly quickly. Even though we were the only people in the place, I did not expect our food come so fast. It was so nice to have a plate full of piping hot food. French fries too hot to touch and a little bit of steam coming off the burger. I started by looking for what was wrong with the burner and was unable to find anything at all wrong. It was juicy, flavorful, served on a brioche bun. It was a simply beautiful hamburger. The seafood chowder was fantastic. It was full of tasty little bits from the sea, nicely seasoned. I truly enjoyed my dinner and would gladly return there at any time. Our server was a very soft-spoken young lady who gave us the kind of attention that I would like to see at every meal that I eat out. We had a great lunch at the Chattermark! The food was phenomenal (if a little pricey - but totally worth it) - the reindeer meatloaf and mac and cheese was so much tastier than I was expecting. They were very busy at lunch, being one of the few places open in Seward on the later side during the weekend, but the staff was super attentive and went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed. I accidentally stopped in to get lunch after seeing that the place I wanted to go a few doors down the street wasn't open (a great place that features the "bucket of butt" (halibut) and wasn't until I was seated with my friends that I realized I had been there a few years prior and vowed never to return. Burgers were not great - $19.00 burger was small - same size as a hockey puck but thinner. Tasted like it was one of those heat and eat ones from Costco. Fries were scantly applied to the plate and made 1 layer on 1/3 of a small plate. Bun a bit greasy. Friends Wife had reindeer soup which she said was tasty. My wife had the Quinoa salad that she said was excellent. . Kitchen staff was s-l-o-w, and evidently not interested in trying to keep up with the clientele - as the place was near capacity. There was a family of about 8 I spoke to that waited over 45 minutes for their order. I was curious because they were there before we were and we were served first (after a 25 minute wait). The waiters were doing their best to be "charming" - probably to offset the ineptitude of the kitchen staff. If no other place is available and you feel like taking a chance - try it out. The menu looks great and the ambiance of the place is very nice, but here's my experience... I walk in and a sign at the door reads "Please wait to be seated." A quick glance confirms a ton of open tables and bar seating. A guy working the bar greets me and says "I'll seat you in about five minutes, just take a bench by the door" and he goes in the back. I ask a waitress walking by if it's ok to sit at the bar and she replies, "For sure." I sit at the bar across from four others seated at the bar and I look over the menu - the novel idea of loaded sweet potato fries with ice cream making my mouth water. After about five minutes the guy who was working the bar comes back and says, "I don't normally seat people at the bar. I know there are others at the bar but can seat you at a table in about five minutes? Is that ok?" No, musical chairs because you can't get organized is not ok. I walked out. Too bad I never got to try the food because it looked pretty good even though very pricey. In this post covid environment I would have tipped 25%.... if I could have gotten a seat. read more

Popped into 5 restaurants with long waits and pricey menus before we found this gem! We were sat and fed in a lickety split, by our awesome server Eugene. With an exuberant attitude and a great smile, Eugene brought us the best cinnamon roll style sweet potatoes fries and creamiest cup of coffee we have ever had. I asked the waitress if they were like a reindeer sausage, she said yes. They aren't, it was like stewed meat. But the whole presentation looked unappetizing. I sent them back and ordered wings. Only 5 little winglets, 3 celery sticks. Yet another 3-star Seward Supper Club. This place is a bit fancier than some of the other spots. It's probably the only place you could call "American (New)" in Seward. The food, it's OK. It's not a offensive, it's not amazing, it's kind of pricey. They've got burger and fried fish and Alaska beer and nachos...and an occasional higher-end dinner entree.
