Not a good experience. Main menu is the same as appetizer menu but with a bun. Crab cake burger is basically crab cake appetizer between a bun.. fish and chips was two small pieces of halibut with a plate of fries for 28$. Very over priced for what you get. Basically you pay for a plate of fries for $28 to $32. My family of 4 paid $150.00 for what was assentually a fries. read more

We had a great lunch at the Chattermark! The food was phenomenal (if a little pricey - but totally worth it) - the reindeer meatloaf and mac and cheese was so much tastier than I was expecting. They were very busy at lunch, being one of the few places open in Seward on the later side during the weekend, but the staff was super attentive and went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed. Would highly recommend visiting here for a delicious lunch! read more

As soon as we walked in, we were warmly greeted. The place was empty because the restaurant had just opened. They encouraged us to sit wherever we wanted in this comfortable place. The waiter came right away, took our drink orders and brought the requested water and soda to our table. It was lunch time, so I ordered a burger. My husband ordered fresh salmon. Our dishes were so, so good! When the tab came, we couldn't believe it. Warm and efficient service, delicious food and all at a reasonable price! read more

Went for dinner. Ordered a salad and Reindeer Sliders. The salad was good, fresh veggies, etc but the sliders looked very unappetizing. I asked the waitress if they were like a reindeer sausage, she said yes. They aren't, it was like stewed meat. But the whole presentation looked unappetizing. I sent them back and ordered wings. Only 5 little winglets, 3 celery sticks. The amount was way too little for the price, same for the sliders They need to increase their portion size and charge a little more or decrease the price on the wings. I left disappointed. read more

Loved this place! We felt welcome from the minute we walked in the door. Dario was our server and was very friendly and responsive. We ordered fish and chips and burgers, and it was all delicious, cooked by chef Meeckel. We'll definitely come back when we return to Seward. read more

excellent service and really good food. good atmosphere. if you go to the bar as for dee dee for excellent service

Huge disappointment! Our adult portions were the same exact size as the children's portions for twice the price ... Service was SLOW!!!! The only decent surprise was the southwest pesto...do not go here if you are in Seward !!!! read more

Best burger I've had in Alaska. Bacon Gouda. Fresh fries, good IPA beer. Best meal hand down. Halibut salad was fantastic!

grilled salmon appetizer 10/10, recommend getting the seafood chowder, very attentive staff.

If I could write two reviews, I would. One about dinner and one about breakfast. The two average to four stars. We came here for dinner and were not expecting anything. The toadstool sandwich was great and you certainly cannot complain about getting a free beer (Tuesday night $10 special)! The burger got praise at our table too. Five star meal. The next day we decided to come for breakfast too and that was just "meh". The egg scramble with veggies and the one with sausage were both kind of dry, though the portions were big. There is a very big difference between the food for dinner and breakfast and I wouldn't recommend coming here for breakfast. What was consistently great here was the service. When we walked in the first time it looked like a very busy dinner rush, and even though it was clear the folks were short staffed, they were doing a great job. Nobody looked like they were about to lose it which is very unsettling when you do see it at other places. The waitstaff and bartender were smiling and friendly. Our questions about things on the menu were also patiently answered. Very happy with the service! read more

In a town that is severely short staffed this restaurant not only sat our party in 10 mins or less, our food was on the table before our quoted 30 minute wait seating time. The entire staff was friendly, calm under pressure and the food and beverages were all very enjoyable! The manager on the floor was upbeat and positive and the chef in the open view kitchen (single handedly cooking for the busy entire restaurant) remained cool, calm and centered the entire time. I'd give this staff and the restaurant more than five stars if I could! Thank you Chattermark for a memorable meal and time in Seward! read more

Do not be fooled, the "halibut" in the "halibut fish and chips" was unmistakably cod. Yes you can easily tell the difference in texture and flavor. Same with the "halibut sandwich." This is inexcusable if you're paying for halibut as is the description on the menu. Nothing wrong with cod, but bait and switch is not ok. I wanted to leave one star but two stars because the restaurant was clean, servers friendly, and remainder of food was good. read more

Ordered the halibut fish and chips. Fantastic! Had fish and chips at Ray's - save your money; Chattermark is WAY better!

My wife and I were looking for something decent at a reasonable price and wound up at Chattermark. Restaurants often close early in Seward but they were open until 10. I had a burger and sweet potato fries and my wife had the BLT and soup. Both were very good. Her bacon was crispy just like she wanted and the burger was cooked as requested too. All in all a very delicious meal. The staff was also super nice. Definitely would recommend if you're looking for a good meal that isn't over priced. read more

Nice sweet potato fries with their Fish & Chips! Deep fried Halibut and Salmon very good. Better than any Fish & Chips in England, that's for sure. Single Engine Red on tap was very tasty. read more

We found this restaurant without a wait for a table. I had the reindeer stew which was fantastic after being rained on and cold from being outside all day. My kids and husband had burgers. Good food. Prices similar to all other restaurants in Seward. In Alaska, just expect to pay more whenever you go...it is part of the trip! read more

I didn't have great cell service so I couldn't read reviews before I went in. I don't eat seafood so I ordered the Smokey burger. Undercooked bacon and American cheese (product) when menu says cheddar. Then the meat....had a weird seasoning or something mixed in that didn't taste good. I overheard someone at the table next to me say the same thing. Soggy bun to top it off. read more

Nice location in downtown Seward. Friendly staff. We both had the halibut and salmon plate. I had coke and she had a local beer. The fish was well prepared and the portion sizes were adequate. Sticker shock for those of us from south Texas, but we found over our week the prices were reasonable for the location. Locals came here to eat and the hardwood tables were a nice touch. read more

Service was terrible. They had plenty of staff and were not busy but couldn't even provide prompt service. The cooks were blasting music from the kitchen. We ordered water and fries and had to wait over 15 minutes to get our order. Would not recommend! read more

Sweet potato fries were good, the fish and chips got good reviews from those at the table, and the saucy salmon was also well received. The two burgers however we're so far over well done I cannot imagine cooking them any longer without turning them into briquettes. The seasoning on them was decent, but the cook was outright bad. The fries would make even the most willing fry lover sad. Soggy, limp, and no seasoning. The sauces were a bit odd for my liking, but got mixed reviews at the table as we passed them around. I would try somewhere else. On a positive note, the service was fast and on top of keeping water glasses full. read more

In 10 words or less: Mediocre food with sparse, artless decor to boot. Portion sizes are small and prices are inflated. As an appetizer, I ordered a pound of chicken wings ($13) and was given six wings. When I told my server that I had ordered the pound and not the half-pound, she brought the order back to the kitchen, where the owner/cook (I would not deign to use the word chef for this hack) had the gall to defend the six-wing-pound, which is a measure I was formerly unfamiliar with. The dining room seems perpetually empty. I've heard servers comment that it was "busy" with 3 tables seated. As I sat at the bar, I watched dozens of potential customers walk to the door of the restaurant, scan the menu, and move on. I can't say I blame them: The 'mark is outdone on every front by other restaurants in town. If you want a truly good burger, hit up Ray's or the Salmon Bake. When you've got a hankering for fried halibut and chips, Thorn's Showcase Lounge is your spot. For pastas, anyone in town with a half gallon of heavy cream can do just as well or better. Truthfully, when you walk in the door, you can smell the desperation. This spot is going down the tubes. The few bovine cruise ship patrons who haplessly stumble through the door won't be enough to keep the place afloat. 'Mark my words, this place will fail in two years or less -- and I don't think there's any reason to check it out before it's gone. read more

My highest marks for a restaurant - and this place definitely deserves it! I almost feel I can't speak highly enough about my entire experience. While visiting my son and his family in Anchorage, Alaska, we took a day trip to Seward. Seward is a popular tourist town. It was mid-May, so the busy season had not quite started yet.. There were 3 adults and 2 children (5, 7) in my party. It was approx. 2pm when we decided to stop for lunch. We passed by two run-down looking restaurants and the local bar while looking for a place to eat. We saw Chattermark and it looked nice, so we walked inside. The decor is very inviting. The soft wooden furniture gave it a seaside atmosphere, but we noticed much more. The color scheme was tasteful and the wine bottle art added an extra touch. The serving staff were tastefully dressed in black pants and matching dark blue dress shirts. The kitchen presentation area was open to the restaurant, and the chefs wore dark gray chef coats. The lunch menu was small, but had something for everyone. The children's menu listed three items (Chicken nuggets shaped like Moose - Perfect for the region, Burger or Fish & Chips. They also had a choice of sides, and each one chose differently (grapes, fries). The two other adults in my party each had different burgers. I don't remember the listed names, but I know one was a spicy hot burger. They also choose different sides (sweet potato and regular fries). I choose the fish (Rock Fish) and chips (fries). I was the only one who asked for water. The water is cucumber/ginger infused. What a wonderful refreshing way to drink water. When our meal came, we all commented on how amazing everything tasted. It was cooked perfectly and the flavors were fantastic. The fish & chips came with a wonderful southwestern pesto sauce (pesto with jalapeño and some mayo to make it creamy). It was just enough food for lunch. We all loved everything, and ate it all to prove it. But that wasn't all. After spending the remainder of the afternoon shopping and playing in the local area, we decided we wanted to go back to the same place for dinner. We started with an appetizer of cold crab-salad stuffed mini sweet peppers. Nice light start to our meal. The youngest child decided to stick with the same nuggets and grapes, but the other child decided to have fish & chips (fries). Myself and one other adult had the curry quinoa, with the optional addition of RockFish. The other adult had a Chicken Alfredo pasta. One again, the meal was amazing. Everyone was served water with dinner. For dessert, we shared a single piece of red-velvet cake. The wait staff were very attentive to the children and very friendly. We asked questions about the restaurant and were told it had just been open a couple months. Since my son and his family live in Anchorage, just a few hours away, they said they would definitely recommend Chattermark to any friends or co-workers who may be visiting Seward in the near future. I recommend it to anyone visiting the area via train, cruise ship or auto. It's just a couple blocks over from the tourist "trap" area. read more

We had lunch here while visiting Seward. The restaurant has a warm atmosphere with wood decor. We tried the Halibut and chips. The fish was EXCELLENT! They have also a kids menu. They also have outlets on the walls near the tables where you can charge you phone. This was excellent, since my phone was almost dead and charging it allowed me to continue taking photos after we left. read more

Had lunch here on a rainy day: We both had Maple Apple Salad (his with an extraordinarily generous portion of grilled salmon) and seafood chowder served with crostini. Salmon was fresh and well-prepared. Service was prompt and friendly. Great coffee. I had the Kassik's Dolly Varden Nut Brown Ale: the only forgettable part of the meal. (Drinkable but pretty bland.) Highly recommend this place. read more

Chattermark Restaurant - Half Maple Apple Salad, cup of chowder with crostini, Dolly Varden Nut Brown Ale. - Seafood Near Me - Seward, Alaska

Newly remodeled restaurant in 'downtown' Seward, in walking distance from the waterfront RV park and the marina. Decent choice of wines and good food menu. We both had (hopefully local) fish. It was pretty good, however the sauce was VERY garlicky. The service was prompt and friendly. Good option if you are hungry in Seward. read more

Chattermark Restaurant - Interior - Seafood Near Me - Seward, Alaska

I walked by the Chattermark and it happened to be a Friday. The sign outside said Fridays are half priced appetizer day so my fiance and roommate and I decided to try it out. The food was excellent, the decor was nice, the water was great, it had gingered cucumber in the bottom of the pitcher which gave it a real nice taste. I ordered the maple chipotle wings, my fiance got a plate of nachos, and my roomie got a reindeer sausage cheese plate. The wings were sweet and spicy, the nachos not quite cheesy enough, and the cheese reindeer plate was nice if a bit small. The nacho plate was ginormous, and the wings were quite plentiful. We enjoyed our meal happily in a nice rustic environment with great service for under 25 bucks... we will definitely be making Friday night visits to this new, vibrant locale. P.S. Tuesdays are half priced burger night...can't wait to check them out as well. read more

The restaurant scene in Seward is insane. So after leaving several places due to a long wait (or them not even letting you get on a list), we stumbled upon this place. We were pleasantly surprised! Yes, they were understaffed (what restaurant isn't right now) and made sure to set our expectations but honestly you could not tell. They were hustling! One of the waiters was literally running to get food to tables. I had the fish and chips and it was great! We had some the night before at another establishment in the area and this was far better! The rest of the fam had burgers and they were amazing! Definitely give them a try! read more

We drove from Alaska and so tired when we got to Seward at almost 10pm. Most restaurants were already closed. Chattermark was about to close but let us in. The server is so nice. We ordered the seafood chowder, carribou stew and the halibut salad. Everything was delicious! read more

Had dinner there with friends on 6/28/16. One of our orders was 2 lbs of snow crabs and 1 lb of king crab legs (for $79). Look at the picture attached, what we got was a part of one king crab leg for 1 lb of king crab leg. After talked to the manager, we were given the upper part of that leg (the other picture) they cut before cooking. Very disappointed. read more

What an incredible find! My friend is living in Girdwood, and drives drives to Seward just to eat here. We chose the halibut and the tenderloin. The halibut was cooked to perfection, with a light sear and moist inside. It came with quinoa and an incredible and mildly spicy pesto salsa. The tenderloin was also cooked perfectly, and the presentation was superb. The staff was very friendly and attentive. The owner worked in the kitchen, and was very friendly and enjoyed talking to the clientele. If you're in Seward, you have to check out Chattermark! read more

Best burgers in town and lots of great beer selection! The day before we went to Alaska Nellie's across the street which sported the "Best Burgers in town" sign, we tried it, and I have to say...they were definitely not the best, and we could have made better burgers with a pound of ground beef at home. The Chattermark on the other hand had juicy burgers with lots of dipping sauces and options. Definitely worth the walk across the street read more

Food was good but neither wait staff nor kitchen staff was wearing masks. If we hadn't been so tired from a full day of traveling we would have gotten up and walked out and prob ably should have. Seems like the Town Of Seward was technically requiring masks but is clearly not enforcing the policy. It is unfortunate as I think a lot of tourists would appreciate a more uniform approach. read more

Liked the decor. Not wild about the crabcakes, but the curried veggie plate was pretty good. Wine prices seemed reasonable. Not sure if we ordered wrong or if it was an off night with the crabcakes, but preferred the seafood down the street at Ray's. read more

It was good to visit a good ole burger for a change. Their ring of fire burger was excellent-- although a little bit over cooked for my liking. The wings were excellent. The sauce was lightly sweet and tangy. It just had the right combination of flavors. The caribou and reindeer soup on the other hand was awful. They put too much wine that killed the natural flavors of the meat. read more

After spending some time hiking to Exit Glacier, and looking at the town's gift shops, we stopped at the Chattermark for either a late lunch or a early dinner. My wife had a salmon sandwich and salad, while I had the fish and chips ( 2 pieces of salmon and 1 piece of halibut). Both of our meals were very good. The breading on my fish was crisp and not overly thick. We also shared a cup of caribou stew. Service was very good. read more

we just visited seward for 2 days, and our hotel staff recommended this restaurant to us. We had one lunch here and it was one of the worst places i've ever tried, in the whole Alaska. We ordered a halibut sandwitch - it looked like a frozen fish patty from supermarket, super small and not fresh at all compared to other places we tried in Alaska -- and we ordered halibut almost every meal in Alaska. We ordered chicken wings too - it came with 4 small pieces and those looked/tasted like chicken breast, not chicken wings. The fries was oily and soft...not tasty And with this kind of quality, this place is way over priced... Stay away from here. There're much better places in seward we tried. read more
