This is a small beachfront park on the boardwalk in Hollywood Florida. There is a parking garage down the street and a few spots on the street. In 1977 the Hollywood Commission named the park after Lou Charnow, a real estate agent and beach activist. In 1988 the park was expanded by 80 feet to incorporate a block of Connecticut Street on its north end and a block of Garfield Street on the south end. Park amenities include picnic pavilions, playground, and an interactive fountain. A highlight of the park is the six fully restored paddleball courts that have been a popular destination on the Hollywood Beach since the 1930s. The park also is the home of the Garfield Community Center which has a 1,735 square foot second floor banquet room with a full kitchen. I love the location of the park and the view of the ocean. The fountain is especially fun for the little ones to run in. This is the perfect place to sit and soak in the beauty of the Hollywood Boardwalk.

Charnow Park is a great addition to the Hollywood Beach Boardwalk. There are plenty of areas to chill in shady, covered areas. The splash park is a great spot for the little ones to get cooled off. Great views, great location.

We were walking on the Hollywood strip when we came across this park. It was lite up like a Christmas tree and we had to stop to check it out. During the day they have water shoot out for the kids and they have a paddleball section. Great views of the ocean from its sitting area. They also have a public restroom.

11/17 - HOLLYWOOD RUN CLUB MEETUP @ 7 p.m. I was invited to meet the Hollywood Run Club by some members I met this past Thursday at another runner's meet up. We met at 300 Connecticut Drive. There is a public parking garage there, very safe. You pay the meter (cash or credit) plus they have one at every floor for your convenience. When you get to the bottom floor, there are bathrooms, tennis courts and eating areas. The group meets up every Tuesday at 7pm here. It was a pretty large group, around 50 poeple. They stretch, take pictures, and are super friendly. We started running towards the new Margaritaville Resort area. There are plenty of shops and restaurants on the boardwalk. You are running on brick pavers, asphalt and concrete. There are areas where it can get a bit dark so if you are running at night, run with a buddy, and bring a small flashlight you can hang on your waist belt. There are all kinds of level runners, I ran 3 miles, some ran over 6 miles. At the end, everyone stretches and hangs out, some meet at the restaurants near by. I highly recommend running with a group at times. My mile pace improved significantly. Overall, it is a nice, secure area to run and exercise, or bring your furry friends.

Today we decided to go to the beach. When we arrived there was plenty of parking. The beach was crowded. There are numerous tents and park benches. There's also a racket ball court. I love to walk the boardwalk. There's plenty of restaurants to go to. You can eat anything from pizza, Italian food, seafood to ice cream. Charnow Park is a great place to bring your family. They have a lot of activities to do like bike riding to cycling. There's a lot of beautiful scenery to take pictures. The restrooms are fairly clean for a public bathrooms. All in all a great place to go but unfortunately we got rain out.

Hollywood Beach is a great place for families. They have bike rentals and a small play area. Parking can be a bit of a challenge. The parking garage fills up quickly, It cost 4.00 and hour to park. The best part about this beach is it's never jam packed or crowded. It's a wonderful place for family and friends to have a nice chill day at the beach.

Great place to take the little ones. Charnow Park has been totally transformed with four new picnic pavilions, a new entertainment pavilion and pergola-shaded seating areas. Two new playgrounds for different age groups offer innovative play equipment with an artificial soft grass safety surface. It includes an interactive water fountain and rock climbing. Directly behind the park is the paddle ball courts and a new five story garage.

The Lions Club of Hollywood takes care of their namesake park. The club recently collected 500 pounds of plastic from the community, other clubs, and civic organizations in a six month period and were rewarded with a recycled plastic Trex bench for the park. On December 7th the club held a ribbon cutting ceremony and tree planting to commemorate the installation of the new bench.During the ceremony the club did some landscaping to tidy up the park and the Stan Goldman Memorial park too. Although small this lovely park is worth a visit. I found parking at the nearby railway station that is next to the Stan Goldman Memorial Park. As I was crossing the bridge between the two parks I spotted 4 manatees in the canal below. I have never spotted them in a park before so I had a great experience watching them swim and eat. The bridge is also a popular location to fish.

You still have to pay for parking. I recommend the parking lot next door. The Pirate Park Playground was built by Superior Playgrounds who was tasked with designing a one-of-a-kind pirate theme play space to spark creative play and provide a safe place for budding buccaneers to play. The playground is made of recycled material like milk jugs and was created to be corrosion resistant so that it would always look good in this salt water coastal ecosystem. Located only 100 feet from the beach, the playground is fenced in for safety. There is a large pirate ship for older children to climb on and slide down and a smaller area for younger privateers. The crows nest with rigging looked especially fun to climb. Other playground play structures include clownfish and blue tang fish spring riders, a custom octopus playhouse, and palm tree shade. There are four triangle sail shades and poured-in-place safety surfacing to protect little knees and bottoms. Bathrooms are nearby. During my visit the playground was filled with kids and their families enjoying the nautical theme. This unique play space fosters imagination and physical movement for the youngest North Beach residents and visitors.

In 2005 City Park was changed to honor Peter Bluesten who was the founder and publisher of the Hallandale Digest. Mr. Bluesten was a WWII veteran who moved to Hallandale from New Jersey in 1946 and he founded the paper in 1963. He took the paper from a one sheet advertisement to a widely read and respected paper that chronicled the history and growth of the city. It was a hometown paper that the community relied on. Mr, Bluesten was very involved with youth sports in the city. He passed away in 1996. The park was redesigned by Craven Thompson & Associates Inc. and the remodeled 16.5 acre Peter Bluesten Park opened to the public on September 28, 2019. One of the highlights is the park's Aquatics Center which has a 25-meter by 25-yard competition style pool with eight lane short course section for high school swim competitions and recreational interactive water features. The pool was designed to meet all of the requirements for USA Swimming. The multipurpose main pool has a large learn-to-swim area, a dedicated water aerobics area, and a beach entry. Both pools are design-built concrete pools with deck level overflow gutter systems. There is also a 1,800 sq. ft water playground with an elevated play structure, which includes multiple decks, slides, rain buckets, water cannons, dancing floor jets and water curtains. Other park amenities include The Hallandale Beach YMCA, an artificial Safeshell turf soccer field, three baseball fields, concession stand, outdoor stage, playground, tennis, basketball, bankshot basketball, racquetball, walking path, and support buildings. The city uses the park for a number of events like their annual Easter Egg Hunt and Movies Under the Stars. If there is one small drawback to Peter Bluesten Park it is that it does not have a parking lot. You have to pay by app and park on the street. Other that that this is a really amazing park with something for everyone to enjoy.
