It's got a walking trail around the park and it does have shade canopies. There are a few benches and there are also 2 tables. My kids instantly ran over to the zip line, which is pretty popular with all the kids - everyone formed a line and took turns. They have a couple of kiddie slides, and a few saucer swings, but no regular swings. They do have a little "hill" that the kids loved to run up and down, and a couple of rope carousels, and net climbers.

The new City of Sunrise Veterans Park honors the U.S. Military with an elevated memorial monument. The parking lot has designated spaces reserved exclusively for combat-wounded veterans. Next to the memorial is a labyrinth, an ancient symbol that relates to wholeness combining the imagery of the circle and the spiral into a meandering but purposeful path. The Labyrinth represents a journey to our center and back again out into the world. Labyrinths have a long history as meditation and prayer tools in memorials. Veterans Park also has paved walkways, a remembrance pavilion, picnic tables, benches, a restroom, and a boundless playground with a zip line, netted spinner, net and slide climber, spinning spinner, swings, rope pyramid climber, embankment slide and rope climber. The grand opening of the park will take place on Saturday, October 5, 2024 from 9 am to 12 pm with a ribbon cutting ceremony at 10 am followed by a free BBQ lunch. The first 200 attendees will receive a commemorative coin and T-shirt. Parking for the event will be available at the Faith Center, located at 5555 NW 95th Avenue. The park is well maintained, from the foliage and landscaping to the baseball field and the skate park! This lovely city park also houses one of my absolute favorite trees (does everyone not have a favorite tree?). If you're looking for a nice place for a picnic there are plenty of covered picnic areas as well! Some of my favorite events that take place here are the Dania Beach Arts & Seafood Festival in April, the regular Dania Beach Flea Market, and the Dania Beach Vintage Motorcycle Show! One of the team members, Elise or Eli's was locking up the park and doing his search of the park and stumbled upon my wallet. Not only did I not know realize I left my wallet, but Elise took it into his own hands and searched the Aventura data base and called my house to let me know that I left my wallet. If it wasn't for Elise and the staff, I would never have known and would have been frantically searching the next day. However, Elise called around an hour after I left and made sure I retrieved my wallet. So for that I thank you and the staff! The park has always been home for me and my dog. The staff is an extended family that is always helpful and amazing to our community. Aventura park is one of a kind.

This sports facility had been recently updated and it shows. The fields look beautiful and the new soft bottom covered playground is awesome. It was built for all abilities and easy for the parents or caregivers to navigate the ramps and slides. This playground was so clean and centrally located between the fenced ball fields. Parking is a bit of an issue as there is no paved lot near the playground. There is a dirt field with no real signage for parking. There are two handicapped parking spaces very near the entrance.

From what I read, the park used to be an old airport back in the 60s. It now has fields for football & baseball, as well as a basketball court. When driving in, I saw that they had some batting cages concessions. The race itself was held on an asphalt track that looped to make the 3.1 miles. The race itself was fun, especially that I ran it with a couple of friends in a group. Besides a DJ who played DJ Laz's "Esa Morena" along with Christmas music, they were also serving lechón and pannetone as complementary bites. There was also a photo op with Santa. Where the race could have been a little better organized was in the track condition. Even though this was a night run, there was no lighting other than the runners glow sticks among the course, and with the speed bumps on the asphalt, myself and at least one or two other runners almost tripped. They also had a couple of cones in the middle of the asphalt track.

Babcock Park has quite a long history with the city of Hialeah. It opened in 1939 as Hunter Lyon Park, named after a wealthy insurance executive, sportsman, and race horse owner with connections to Hialeah Race Track. In 1944 the name of the park was changed to honor Benny Babcock, a Hialeah resident who enlisted in the Marines in 1940. He became the first Hialeah resident to be killed in action at the age of 22 during World War II at Guadalcanal on November 2, 1942. Today Babcock Park is a generous 18.5 acres filled with amenities beloved by generations of the community. These include two lighted tennis courts, seven youth baseball fields, two lighted indoor racquetball courts, two lighted basketball courts, a newer covered playground, community swimming pool, out door exercise equipment, recreation building, LHB baseball training academy, the Curtiss Library, and police substation. I enjoyed the paved walking trail that winds throughout the park. With its deep roots in the community, generations grew up in Hialeah with fond memories of Babcock Park. It continues to bring people together today for games, swimming, play, and outdoor recreation.

Dante Fascell (December 3, 1983 - January…read more3, 1993) was a politician who represented Florida as a member of the United States House of Representatives from 1955 to 1993. He also served as chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee for nine years. He was well known for supporting the creation of Biscayne National Park which was signed into law by President Lyndon B. Johnson in 1968. The visitor center in the park is named in honor of Representative Fascell as is this park. Although this is a small park, it has a lot of amenities including a playground, outdoor fitness equipment, open recreation space, a pavilion, BBQ pits, tennis and volleyball courts, and an exercise trail. My favorite part of the park was all of the public art. Dante Fascell Park is the home of the Columbia Sculpture Garden which currently has six installations. There is also a large sculpture of a nude woman by the playground that was created by local artist Donald Lee Seiler. A naked lady is kind of an odd choice to stick in a kids playground but it is a cool art piece. As I walked around I admired all of the large shade trees and beautiful native flowers in the park. This is the ideal place for a picnic, play, exercise, fresh air, and culture and it is a unique community treasure in South Miami.
