Dania Beach Arts & Seafood Festival in Frost Park

This park has been around for a really long time! When my kids, now 23 & 26, were toddlers they used to cone here often with their grandfather. My more recent visits have been here for the Dania Bech Vintage Motorcycle Show and the Dania Beach Arts & Seafood Festival. I was super impressed with this park! It is big & spacious, and it is full of sone beautiful & GIGANTIC trees! There were many people camped out in the shade under those trees with foldable chairs or just sitting on the grass. Perfect for adults and kids of all ages! The park also has a large, shady playground. Besides being big; this playground is surrounded by a large fence for added safety. There is also a skate skateboard park where skaters can practice skating maneuvers safely. All in all; it's a great, well maintained park where you can enjoy a number of pleasant activities.

Trying to find a park for tennis or basketball can be tricky. The really popular ones are tough to get a court when ya walk up. You may have to wait a long time or mix in with a pickup game that's going on already. The latter. It being so bad unless you were looking forward to your own group getting to play its own game. The not as popular parks are usually because they aren't maintained as well, or are in the wrong part of town and down have a safe vibe to them. Frost is to me a park that's right perfectly in the middle. I end up here often for a court. Today we stopped over for some tennis. Always good for some good cardio, especially on such a hot day. We got a court easily. As always I was appreciating was good shape it was in. Honestly it looks like it was built this year. The hoops where there was a couple games going on are like new. And the tennis courts are hard courts that have almost no cracks. They have fairly new benches with special over hang shades built in that provide a great spot to take a break between games. When you throw in the close street parking and the excellent ball fields too, Frost is one of the best parks in Broward.

Came for the 11th annual Dania antique motorcycle show and it was amazing again. It seems to grow larger each year. It has hundreds of two, three and four wheeled motorized and non-motorized vehicles in competition with each other in many classes for ribbons and status standings. It is an event for all ages and most like me arrive on motorcycles. There is car parking in paid lots and free on the surrounding roadsides if you get lucky. Beware because they will ticket and tow you if you illegally park...watch the signs. BRING YOUR CAMERA. It is a great opportunity to take pictures of very rare and beautifully crafted antique driving machines. There is food and beverages available for purchase (including beer). There is live music that performs on the main stage where trophies and ribbons are handed out after final judging occurs. There is a parts swap meet area and many vendors selling tee shirts and motorcycle paraphernalia throughout the park. There are also local and national dealers here selling new bikes, helmets, gear, etc. So bring the whole family to this annual event and spend a day outside enjoying the love, seat and tears people put into these one-of-a-kind machines.

Hey! It's a chicken on a leash at the park!

This review is based on the Vintage Motorcycle Show that takes place at Frost Park each year in January. It's a shame that this event is not advertised more. This year was the 8th Annual and although I have not been to all 8 I heard throughout the day that this year was the largest turn out ever. The park itself is very well taken care of. The bathrooms were spotless and considering there were thousands of people in attendance that's impressive. I was there from open to close and every time I went into the bathroom an employee was cleaning and restocking everything. I have never experienced this at any outdoor event I have ever been to. The lawn was well manicured and the skate park area looked freshly painted. I hate going to outside events and its all dirt and sand and muddy puddles. Not here! All grass, landscaped trees and bushes. The event has a decent number of food vendors but they could have had a few more as well as another beer and wine stand. The line was at least 30-50 deep all day. Knowing that this is a biker event I would think that they would have at least 2 ares for beer. I also think that it's important to have food stands spread out and not just in one area. It gets people moving around a little more. Maybe next year they will step it up a bit. Parking is free and that's always a good thing because then you have more money to play. There are rows of flea market finds such as old parts for cars and motorcycles, tools and bike accessories. After that you pass through more rows of new merchandise, bike seats, clothing, helmets, leather jackets, boots, jewelry, custom bikes and way more. Seeing all the vintage bikes is like taking a history class. No where in South Florida will you find this amount of vintage motorcycles and for FREE. If your into motorcycles or even just the vintage lifestyle it's definitely worth checking out. It won't disappoint.

The Lions Club of Hollywood takes care of their namesake park. The club recently collected 500 pounds of plastic from the community, other clubs, and civic organizations in a six month period and were rewarded with a recycled plastic Trex bench for the park. On December 7th the club held a ribbon cutting ceremony and tree planting to commemorate the installation of the new bench.During the ceremony the club did some landscaping to tidy up the park and the Stan Goldman Memorial park too. Although small this lovely park is worth a visit. I found parking at the nearby railway station that is next to the Stan Goldman Memorial Park. As I was crossing the bridge between the two parks I spotted 4 manatees in the canal below. I have never spotted them in a park before so I had a great experience watching them swim and eat. The bridge is also a popular location to fish.

In 2005 City Park was changed to honor Peter Bluesten who was the founder and publisher of the Hallandale Digest. Mr. Bluesten was a WWII veteran who moved to Hallandale from New Jersey in 1946 and he founded the paper in 1963. He took the paper from a one sheet advertisement to a widely read and respected paper that chronicled the history and growth of the city. It was a hometown paper that the community relied on. Mr, Bluesten was very involved with youth sports in the city. He passed away in 1996. The park was redesigned by Craven Thompson & Associates Inc. and the remodeled 16.5 acre Peter Bluesten Park opened to the public on September 28, 2019. One of the highlights is the park's Aquatics Center which has a 25-meter by 25-yard competition style pool with eight lane short course section for high school swim competitions and recreational interactive water features. The pool was designed to meet all of the requirements for USA Swimming. The multipurpose main pool has a large learn-to-swim area, a dedicated water aerobics area, and a beach entry. Both pools are design-built concrete pools with deck level overflow gutter systems. There is also a 1,800 sq. ft water playground with an elevated play structure, which includes multiple decks, slides, rain buckets, water cannons, dancing floor jets and water curtains. Other park amenities include The Hallandale Beach YMCA, an artificial Safeshell turf soccer field, three baseball fields, concession stand, outdoor stage, playground, tennis, basketball, bankshot basketball, racquetball, walking path, and support buildings. The city uses the park for a number of events like their annual Easter Egg Hunt and Movies Under the Stars. If there is one small drawback to Peter Bluesten Park it is that it does not have a parking lot. You have to pay by app and park on the street. Other that that this is a really amazing park with something for everyone to enjoy.
