#1 in the world? Could be... Asia has lots of people. But not sure which metric they use. I question the veracity of this statement

I'm reporting about Charley's Cheesesteaks in Reno mall. They claim to be worlds greatest cheesesteaks. As a person who has been to Philadelphia a few times (definitely recommend visiting during the 4th of July) I have to say that this place leaves a few things to be desired. First the meat is plentiful. I mean the bread could hardly wrap around it. If you're going to fry meat and cheese together it's going to be moist. On the east coast bread is kind of their thing. There's definitely more bread than steak in their sandwiches and the seasoning saltiness is more from the cheese than anything added to the steak. Cheese wiz for the connoisseur. There's just too much going on at Charley's. Now to be fair, it's not a bad choice is you want to fill up on protein. It may be the best cheesesteak in that food court. May also be the best cheesesteak in the meadowood mall. But I'm betting it's not exactly the best cheesesteak on the McCarran loop, or even Reno. False advertising. It's like trying to say you sell the best cheesecake but if you're not in New York I'd begin to have my doubts. Interesting experience but certainly not the best in the world.

I'm obsessed with this place. I had the old school cheesesteak and loaded fries! We tried a few places before this wonderful place but we're very disappointed. Thankfully we found this spot last week and this is our 2nd time ordering. It's so good and fresh! This is my new cheat day eating spot

Great and fresh sandwiches and fried so many options for drinks. The service at Charley's is amazing they gave me so many options for what to eat and what to eat in the future.

    Cheese "sauce" is weirdly lumpy.

We were getting hangry from shopping in 103 degree weather and needed some food NOW. The mall food court's Asian selections looked unappetizing and I noticed the bacon on the fries at Charleys so we decided on that. Staff was nice. I wanted to spend my carb budget on dem fries so I asked for no bun. They offered a bed of lettuce. Thanks register teenager! The cheesesteak was dry yet flavorful. The fries were delicious yet the cheese "sauce" was weirdly lumpy. It was pretty much what you would expect from a mall food court cheesesteak place. (Note: Yelp is telling me that my review is "average length". I think I will end it here since Charleys seems to be your average food court joint.)

I was a bit hesitant to go here based on the reviews but I was craving a philly steak There was a long line that they went through very quickly Ricardo made my sandwich and was professional and courteous My sandwich was 6.50 and I think this is a fair price. You can add toppings for free Or drink and fries for a meal for extra I'm very pleased with my experience and the sandwich was as delicious as I'd hoped!

This place offers the only cheesesteak option in the food court at the Meadowood Mall, so the business is great for variety and, I must say, I love a good cheesesteak. They have several options for different kinds of cheesesteak sandwiches, so that's great also. I ordered the BBQ cheddar cheesesteak and it was delicious. However, I feel bad for the people working here. It's obvious that they don't enjoy what they do, which is why the customer service sucks. The cashier had a very flat personality and uninspiring attitude, and was ready to move me along as soon as I paid. I expected to be able to leave a tip on my receipt, but surprisingly, the receipt was one and done and the cashier made no attempt to make it easier for me to tip, nor did I find a collection bin to do so with. The cook, a big, black guy, was at the grill cooking up the orders, but save for the fact that he was facing us, I'm not sure he even knew we were there. He never smiled once, nor acknowledged us right in front of him (the grill is part of the counter facing the customers). I was a little disappointed in my order. I ordered a BBQ cheddar cheesesteak, but noticed that it was not a real slice of cheddar cheese put on the steak, but instead, it was shredded cheese sprinkled on top. Any excitement I had for my cheesesteak was halved at that moment. There is an older lady who works at the end of the counter to distribute orders. Her personality was a little more upbeat and she was probably the best part of the customer service experience, but even then, it was lacking. I know I love my job and I go above and beyond to do a great job for my clients, so it really just breaks my heart to see someone doing a job they don't love, and doing it without cause for care. Overall, this place offers a good tasting cheesesteak, but the service issues leave it with only two stars.

    Small chicken philly and fries!

Very helpful! I didn't know what veggies or sauce would go with my philly. They gave great recommendations and made sure the sandwiches were yummy.

    Packed to-go very nicely!

I had the California chicken sandwich and it was to die for, even though it's just a little court food action.

I used the website and placed the order with ease, we paid and it stated the order would be ready at 2:50 pm. At 2:49 I got a text stating the order was ready. Order Cuban on oregano parm bread Trip tip with blue cheese add mayo, slaw on the side on jalapeno cheese bread. The order was picked up with ease, arrived at the house at 3:45. The sandwiches were much larger than expected, and were still nice and warm. Opened the bag to find each sandwich was wrapped and clearly labeled. The herb flavors were present in the Cuban, the pickles were mighty tasty offsetting the fat, and the vinegar in mustard tied it all together and the warm fresh crusty bread... OHHHHH MYYYYY!!! Greatttttt sandwhich! Jalapeno cheese bread with trip tip was MF FIRE !! I'd never imagine blue cheese and trip tip with jalapeno and spinach. Wowwwww it worked.. let's talk quality... quality aromatic blue cheese with a nice punch to it.. it almost melted into the bread!! While…read morewaiting for our order to be made, I was watching them making sandwiches and burritos diligently , grilling burritos on the panini griller. They had a lot of orders that they were trying to get out, but this one person accidentally put possibly mayo on a sandwich, turned around with the piece of bread in his hand, which I couldn't see what he did with it, but it was kind of wiped off, so I don't know if he scraped it on something, but he did not use a knife in my view to take it off then he took a towel to it, wiped it off and then put it on the grill for 10 seconds and then he put the correct spread on it. Now... What if that person was grossed out by mayo or allergic to something in the mayo. It would've been just as easy to get a fresh roll. That kind of grossed me out. I'm glad it wasn't ours. I have to wonder what that towel was used on. It wasn't a fresh towel. It was crumbled up. That has not sat well with me since I saw that. I think the rating on them (if I was an inspector ) would have been affected. Normally we love that place!

I added a slice of Swiss cheese to accompany my meat but in hindsight, I regret it as it took away from the overall taste of the sandwich. They clearly melted the Swiss somehow on the corned beef. Perhaps it was just from the hot sliced meat, microwaved (I doubt) or steamed? However, I was a bit disappointed as my sandwich came out fairly cold and by the feel of the bread I feel like it was ready well before it was brought out and sat a bit waiting for my mouth as the top bread was dry/crusty and the bottom slice was still steamy warm. I would have liked a hotter sandwich. For my side I chose the fries. Fresh and hot they would have been the bomb, however, like the sando, they were mediocre as they were past their prime. My dining partner had the grill pastrami (same price) with added Swiss cheese slice as well. The amount of meat on his sandwich looked 1/2 the weight/volume of mine. (I was glad with my choice.) Overall, I'll probably return for my craving of a good "Chicago Jewish deli" corned beef sandwich but will ask to be sure it's hot next time and I will also ask for freshly fried potatoes, or maybe I will try the potato salad or cole slaw. 3.5 stars out of 5. I found myself out and about with just my son and and we both thought a char grilled kebab sounded like a fun dinner experiment. We popped in and found who were guessing is the owner's child at the register and placed our order for their signature kebab made from ground chicken and Afghani spices. The plate came with sumac spiked basmati rice, two pieces of the chicken kebab and a small green salad plus a green hot sauce. The kebab was tender and juicy with a great flavor profile and a nice bit of charcoal flavor. We thought the rice was actually exceptional light and fluffy with a hint of that citrus sea tang from the sumac, in a buttery finish, made this a nice light side to the kebab. The salad was fresh and crunchy with cucumber, lettuce, and bell peppers and that green hot sauce was really great and we used it as a dressing because the salad did not come with one. For $16 I just felt like the value was a bit often the plate needed at least one more piece of the kebab because when finished with a small tiny salad and the kebab, we were left with a mountain of rice and that is south wasteful. I just wish the plates here were a bit more valued oriented and I guess it will take more people eating here to kind of drive that up. Highly recommend giving it a try plus the market has some really fun fines too. Share your review and let me know what you think.
