This is a lovely cafe but the service I received was pretty poor…read more When you first walk in, you'll notice that it is a big open concept space with seating, and a small shop setup in the front. For the shop part, there's some baked goods and sort of deli items you can purchase--almost like a little market. For their restaurant portion, you'll actually have to order at the register and get a number. You can also order the baked items to enjoy at the counter. There were so many unique baked items that looked delicious. As my friend and I awaited to order, we looked over the menu. Prices seemed to be as expected for a place that looks this pretty. When I got to one of the female cashiers, she was not very friendly. She did not smile the whole time, and she made it seem like I was inconveniencing her from the get go, even though I had my order ready to go and I greeted her with a smile. I went ahead and ordered a crispy brunch potatoes and subbed the bacon for the mushroom which is noted to be the vegetarian option; she did have to quickly clarify whether I wanted to add mushrooms vs subbing, so I clarified. I also tried to order a latte with oat milk with their brown butter marzipan house syrup. She was trying to enter the drink order to the tablet and told me that she didn't have the brown butter marzipan button to select on her tablet and that they had brown sugar cinnamon. She tried to explain to me that brown sugar cinnamon and brown butter marzipan are the same. I was very confused by that comment, as that's not true, otherwise why are they separate names/labels? She asked if I wanted to get brown sugar cinnamon instead, and I told her no thanks, and asked to cancel the drink order. When I'm trying a new restaurant, I want to try the unique options. She then gave me a questioning, "are you serious" look, and confirmed if I wanted to cancel, and I said yes. Then I went ahead and paid, she didn't even say 'thank you' to close off, and wish I didn't tip her for that poor service...she wasn't even waiting my table... I don't expect service workers to chat me up, and all I expected was a "hi, what can I get for you?", "We don't have that, would you like something else?", and "Thank you." and also she should have either tried to figure out if 'brown butter marzipan' is in stock and that the button is just not on the tablet from a more senior staff member. It's on the menu, and I can get if you might be out of stock. Her overall reasoning just made it seem like she was being dishonest. I can't believe she tried to tell me essentially cinnamon and marzipan are the same with a bad attitude to top it all off. My friend also saw this interaction and was also frustrated by this experience. She noted that it seemed this lady's coworker noticed this poor interaction from the get go and that they seemed to try to compensate by giving friendlier service to my friend. I did notice later that this particular female cashier was smiling and friendly to other customers, so I have no idea what the problem was. I actually ended up going to the Perenn market that's located in the next building over and they did have brown butter marzipan syrup. I also told them about the above incident and they were unsure of the brown butter marzipan stock in the restaurant and were confused by how the cashier lady's comment how cinnamon and marzipan are the same, and they apologized for it even though they didn't have to. The person who served us our food was friendly. Later when I went to ask for a to-go box from a different cashier lady, this person was very friendly and accommodating. Other than that, portions seemed pretty large. I would say the crispy brunch potatoes were crispy as noted, adequately salted. I think there was some flavors they could add that would take the dish further. If they added avocado, that would be nice, or some citrus flavor. My friends ordered the traditional breakfast and they had varying experiences. Both of them were surprised by how large the dish was, however one person got scrambled eggs and the portion of eggs seemed way smaller than the one who got two sunny side up eggs. The potato pave had a flaked salt finish for one person, but not the other person, even though it wasn't a special request for either of them. The toast was delicious. It seems they use those large loaves, and give you two slices, to which they cut in half (you get 4 pieces of toast in total). Not sure what kind of bread they used, but the texture was lovely--crunchy crust and very soft center. With butter, the bread was perfect. They also used a very fresh peach jam. I would probably actually order this myself! Restroom was very clean and it is located in the back. There is also outdoor patio seating, which looked so nice. Overall, the restaurant is aesthetic, and food was pretty enjoyable, but the service was unfortunately lackluster.

Or is it that epic side salad that comes with every sandwich? I like to think that it's a combination of everything above that makes this place a spot that people return to time and time again. And the warmer Mo I don't often think about it, but they do have incredibly welcoming patio with lots of shade and great salads and sandwiches if you don't feel like soup. But of course there's always an awesome option of having a cup of soup with your sandwich just to round out the experience. From what I can tell, not a whole lot has changed about this spot and that's with good reason. The people have spoken over and over and over again in this community loves this restaurant just the way it is. When you come here, you can't go wrong with the grilled cheese and classic tomato soup but if you're feeling adventurous, try the soup sampler and taste a few at once to pick your favorite then find out when it's on the menu so you can plan your return based around it. Me I'm a sandwich guy and my most recent visit. I had to try the barbecue chicken on the jalapeño cheddar roll. Chicken with succulent, not overly sauce with light spice and the fresh veggies on top made for a really nice sandwich. The bread was a little bit thick and I ended up eating most of it open face so in the future, I'd say if there's an option for this barbecue chicken to go on top of the salad, you won't miss there. Speaking of salad that cute little side salad that comes with all the sandwiches is so good. Their house made white balsamic vinaigrette is just absolute fire and no meal here is complete without it. 19 years in and Sup is still hot. When's the last time you visited?

If you want potential food poisoning or worse this is the place to go with the bugs climbing on the counter by the grill to the very rude owner be wary of what you get here only safe thing might be leaving that line. I have tried this place twice. Each time I received the worst customer service from the owner. His name is Cornell. I asked for extra mayo, and was told it is an extra charge. Asked for napkins he said we give one per customer. . I love Charley's Grilled Subs but this was the worst ever. read more

In any case, I'm not going to say it was the absolute best Cheesesteak I've ever had, be cause that would be insulting Philly in some kinda way... But both my Fiancé and I remarked as to we've not had a better one in all of our 9 years together. That's saying something. I eat what I want and we've had our fair share of cheesesteaks together. She's not from Philly but she's absolutely an accepted Philly Fan. Loves her Iggles, Flyers, and all things foodie Philly related.... Including Taylor Pork Roll. The Capriotti's sandwich in question is the American Wagyu Cheesesteak. We did just meat (extra not double) and cheese, and then doctored it up in the same way we each like our cheesesteaks. It was phenomenal. Besides the sandwich, the customer service was extra special. My rewards weren't working properly, Scott problem solved it quickly and without needing any issue from me, he simply handled it. In this day and age where it's so easy to fall back on technology's incapabilities, sleuth the representative simply saying, that's what it says and there's nothing I can do, even if as a human you are easily able to see a discrepancy. It should be more standard, but sadly, it's not. So I absolutely appreciate him taking charge and doing what he could to find a solution that worked for me, but also followed the company's protocols. He did that. The gal on the grill was awesome as well. I sincerely apologize I can not remember her name, but her enthusiasm and interaction with me over something as simple as a sandwich, was pretty cool. She made it a point to connect with me andd that fact I'm a Philly guy, was sharing his sandwich with my fiance whom is an adopted Philly gal. And to play with the fact this sandwich was a crucial part of our day and plans to watch The eagles playoff game. It should say somerhing that even though the team lost that game, we still hold this experience at a sandwich company as a truly fun and meaningful part of our day. I truly apologize for the lengthy message, but in a time and society where urs far too easy and quick to put one another down, when there's people or even a company that deserves to be called out for a customer's appreciation, I don't mind taking an extra minute of two to recognize that. Thank you! I'd say we're looking forward to our next visit, but we've already come back, order a giant sandwich And split it. An equally excellent experience and we'll be back again soon. Also signed up and suppose to get $5.00 off the next sandwich. By the time I arrived they were bagging it. Order was correct- Split the sandwich and it was very filling.. I saw them prepping but wasn't sure if you can get the sandwich in a bowl.. which I wouldn't mind trying- I do like the offering of variety of sandwiches.. Looking forward to another sandwich day!

I don't remember the exact name of the sub that I ordered, but it was supposed to include beef, turkey, and bacon and Swiss cheese... I opted for double turkey instead of the beef... I was very impressed with the way they were willing to make any changes that I asked for... when I requested the pepperonis I requested LOTS... usually, when I say that, other sandwich shops put three extra slices on. I have to ask for more more more three times before I get enough pepperonis... here she took a great big fistful to put on my sandwich... it was perfect. I do like that they slice everything fresh. I think this is going to be my go to sandwich place from now on. I ordered the medium size and I only ate half of it and brought half home. That was two days ago. And I decided I needed to finish that up today... it was still so yummy... (:-) and that is what prompted me to FINALLY write this review.

Luckily, the ones here at Slim Chickens are fresh and well seasoned, and it come with a range of delicious Housemade sauces that made for a great experience each time. Unintentionally the spot has become our go to value meal when the kids are pleading for us to take them out for lunch for dinner. The Sunday special where a kid meal is $1.99 with the purchase of an adult meal has become a once a month treat. Having the app also has exposed to other unique offerings and their newest menu addition too. They've been doing a lot of solid digital marketing in the general vicinity as well and I often find great value offerings through that channel as well. Most recently that was discovering the 20 piece boneless Hall, which for $10 was enough to feed both of my kids or me a little snack and one of the kids as well. Four stars is because sometimes the offerings shown online are a little tricky to find either in the app or at the kiosk in store. I've had to start orders on the kiosk, then abandoned them and then head to the cash register where the friendly staff is more than willing to jump in and help me locate exactly what I'm talking about. They've never seemed to not know about a promotion which I do really appreciate. The chicken tenders are usually well cooked and crispy and juicy, but I do find them a bit on the salty side personally, some of the sauce is also fall a little bit flat. I tried the cayenne ranch last visit and thought it barely had a kick or any flavor beyond being just a loser style ranch dressing. The fries are really weird. I think they need some work unless I say something specifically I feel like I always get the end of the bachelorette prize they're warm, not hot but they're limp and often quite greasy if I ask them well done or Crispy I feel like they get overcooked so I just don't know at this point how to best enjoy the french fries here. All that service is always 100% and the staff is always able to put a smile on your face. My kids ripped through the sauces and the staff never hesitate to hook them up with extra one or two and they always treat them with the same respect, they would treat us at the counter, which I greatly appreciate. Again, I'm very solid addition to self Reno from Guy Wootan. I'm happy my kids dragged me in the first time and will continue to visit in the future.

Highlights: Reasonable number of options on the menu, from french dip to salad, to a reuben. Looked up reviews prior and decided on the cranberry turkey sandwich (which for some reason is not on the main menu, just a big poster near the seating area) and a side of the "signature" mac & cheese. Good value to make it a meal with either chips, salad, or soup plus a fountain drink. The sandwich overall was well made and tasty. Interestingly, you can get a 4" option (as well as 6" and 8"). Lowlights: The massively hyped "ultimate comfort food" mac & cheese was mushy but not especially cheesy. For $7.99 for a small, would definitely skip unless this just happened to be a bad batch. Also, the signature item, the sourdough, was pretty bland. Not tangy and no crunchy crust. Seemed for the most part like grocery store sourdough or even just a french loaf. Will have to try some of the other sandwich options when back in the area.
