All of the food except for the side of mushrooms looked wonderful. The Shirp was overcooked and therefore chewy. The sea bass was very good and very flaky. The steak was very good, though the chef did not follow instructions. Overall Aside from taste. It was wonderful. If the ratings were solely based on presentation it would be a glowing 5 stars. But. Alas, it isn't. Food was disappointing and did not meet the expectation set by the environment and feel of the restaurant.

Upon arriving at my table, I was offered still and sparkling water to drink and my server was very attentive to my needs and kept both of my water glasses full. I ordered the chicken piccata. The chicken was excellently cooked and was tender and moist with ever-so-slightly crisped edges. The sauce was tangy and the capers added a bite that worked perfectly with it on a way that really made the chicken piccata shine as a dish. The whipped potatoes did not have a lot of flavor on their own, but meshed well with the pan sauce. At the conclusion of the meal, the check came with an Andes mint. I love those, and while it is a small gesture, it made me smile and improved my evening just that little bit more. This was a great experience with great food! 4.5/5

Located downtown, parking appears to be mostly street parking--I didn't notice a dedicated lot nearby. Inside, the restaurant is long and narrow with bar seating, hanging plants, and an open wood-fire grill that immediately sets the vibe. We sat in the back room, which is darker and not quite as charming as the main dining area. It was also verrrry warm. When we mentioned it, our waiter's sarcastic comment about it being hot outside caught us a little off guard, but thankfully it did seem to cool down afterward. Now THE FOOD. The fire-roasted carrots with whipped tahini were unreal. Tender without being mushy, smoky, and absolutely packed with flavor. I ate most of the plate and regret nothing. The empanadas were buttery, soft and flaky with a chimichurri sauce I would've happily put on everything. My Campfire Atlantic Salmon was the star--perfectly cooked with this incredible smoky, citrusy flavor that carried through the whole plate. Even the kale had me excited, which feels like an accomplishment. The artichoke au gratin was creamy, loaded with artichokes, and had a great crunchy texture on top. Portions are generous enough that my dinner became lunch the next day. Our table also tried the filet, pasta, and another salmon. Everyone was happy. I sampled the crab-and-corn pasta--it was good, just not personally my thing. The filet was tender with a glaze my friend loved, although I'd probably order mine without it. We finished with the strawberry rhubarb cobbler + vanilla ice cream--tangy, sweet, warm, cold, crunchy, creamy...basically I didn't want to share. Service overall was attentive without hovering, plates disappeared quickly, and everyone's drinks were beautiful and well received. Bathrooms were clean and well-kept, too. Six years of walking past this place was enough. Those carrots and that salmon have officially brought me to my senses. I'll be back.

Out of this world sauces that not only complimented the dishes, but freaking saved them! I ordered the sea bass and although it was cooked well, the flavoring was mid at best. As for the vegetables, they were cooked quite "rare". More like a charcuterie style crispy than I had expected. Same for my boyfriend's potatoes. I don't think vegetables is a lost cause, just more so an opportunity for improvement. His steak was delightful. Ambience: Such a fun environment! We did chefs counter and it reminded us of being back home in the city. Final thoughts. Would come back but would lean into dishes with sauces because a sauce god is employed here.

Parking isn't the greatest, especially on the weekends, so you can utilize the valet service located in front of The Tavern. We were celebrating a friend's birthday, so we had our own private room. I'm not sure of the price to reserve a private room, so you would need to call and verify that. The menu isn't very extensive, and this is definitely a more expensive restaurant, so I would personally save it for special occasions. If you have a special diet or dietary restrictions, there may not be a ton of options, so I'd recommend calling ahead to ask before making a reservation. For food, I had the porterhouse steak, which is meant to be shared rather than an individual serving. It was definitely a generous portion because I still had enough to take leftovers home! I also ordered the potatoes and Brussels sprouts as my sides. All of the sides are a la carte, so keep that in mind when looking at the menu and pricing. They also had a salmon special while we were there, although I'm not sure if that is something they offer regularly or if the special changes throughout the year. The ambiance gives major speakeasy vibes and is really nice. The lights are dim, and they even had a man playing the piano for a set amount of time while we were there, which added to the experience. If you're coming with a group, just know that there will most likely be a 20% gratuity added to your bill. Overall, such a great experience, and I will definitely be coming back for a special occasion in the future!
