Unique shaped bread, the butter that went with it was so good!

1st time dining at Chardon & it won't be my last! Service was just right, food tasted amazing & the ambiance is perfect for a dinner when you want to get a bit dressed up or for a special occasion. They have paid self parking in the back (accessed from Gillette or the valet entrance). We got the beef bourgignon & the dover sole (big enough to share between 2 people).. highly recommend both!

I will start by saying that we did not have the typical sit down dinner experience. We arrived late (around 9pm) with a large group and were in search of a venue for our after party. Since we visited with a regular, the staff was kind enough to open the bar area to our party. Parking is mostly valet only from what I was able to see. We initially indicated to the staff that we did not intend on ordering food, but ended up ordering a dozen oysters and many burgers and fries. The oysters were fresh and sweet, served with perfect pairings of their champagne vinegar mignonette and horseradish. Chardon's burger was excellent as well and is served with pickles and caramelized onions. The burger was rich and juicy, the perfect luxury post drinking food. The fries are crispy and served with a rosemary aioli, also excellent. The drinks were strong and tasty as well. What stood out was the overall professionalism of the staff. They served us without hesitation even though they were in the process of closing for the night and being bombarded by 15+ guests late at night is not ideal. The food and drinks were a hit too. Will definitely be back!

I haven't heard about this place at all, they're not a lot of French cuisines in Houston so this was really a great spot to try new cuisines. We shared the beef cheek bouirguignon and the deviled crab. The beef was excellent cause it was paired with mashed potatoes divine. They were so smooth. The beef was very tender melted like butter. I am absolutely thrilled with the dessert part oh my gosh if you don't get any food, please get this dessert. I don't know what it's called but it is a chocolate macaroon and it's filled with hazelnut and raspberries and it's just amazing and if you love hazelnut you'll love this chocolate on chocolate! The ambience was of course Parisian so great for date night big groups. They do have outdoor seating underneath the canopy for Christmas. They have a lot of lights out so it's super festive. Parking is valet or garage Come with friends or come with all. But please get the chocolate dessert!!

We came here for a brunch and we really love this place. The decor is cozy and food was amazing. The service was pretty attentive. The beef tartare is the best! I will definitely come back for dinner.

Chardon was absolutely stunning and such a great experience overall. From the moment we walked in, the servers greeted us right away and were incredibly friendly and attentive. The vibe felt open, elevated, and very Parisian upscale without being over the top. I love French food, and the menu had most of the classics along with an impressive range of seafood. The chocolate croissant was decent but definitely didn't come close to the best ones I've had in Houston, let alone France. Steak Frites: 10/10. The meat was tender and perfectly medium rare with a rich, savory flavor. My only complaint was that the sauce was a bit underwhelming. However, spreading the roasted garlic cloves on the steak made it absolutely delicious. The truffle fries were good too, though a little on the greasy side. French Onion Soup: 8/10. The flavor was genuinely so good and comforting. The only downside was how hot it was. I could only take a couple bites the whole time we were there. Crème Brûlée: 6/10. This one disappointed me. The top didn't have that hard shell crack and was instead more of a soft scoop. The custard was pretty bland too. They mentioned it had herbal notes, but all I really got was a plain taste with a light hint of vanilla. Overall, I would come back for their mains and the vibe!

Came in for anniversary on a Friday night with reservation, seated immediately. Dress code: most people were anywhere from business casual to formal Food 5/5: we had the Caesar salad, stuffed crab, hor d'oeuvre tower, the duck and their salmon mille fuille. Everything was amazing. My personally favorite was the duck and my significant other and I basically ranked things in opposite order so that tells me everything was good depending on preference Service 4.5/5: great service, very attentive, helpful and friendly. Food came out a bit slow to start but once apps came, everything else came with good timing Ambiance 4.5/5: beautiful location, very classy feeling with a slight modern twist. Good lighting and ambient sound levels were good for talking comfortably but perhaps a bit louder when more busy Value 4.5/5: fantastic value for fine dining, the duck was our entree and it was 2 giant portions and the lobster pot pie looked enormous when they were bringing to our neighbor. Can't wait to try the other entrees Overall 4.8/5: might be the highest review I've ever given. Fantastic food at great value and amazing service and ambiance. Can't wait to come back. Parking: valet parking available and large paid parking lot nearby. We were staying at Thompson so not sure if there's validation for parking.

The sumptuous decor envelopes you upon entry. The ambiance is elegant yet comfortable. The service was spectacular! This quality of service is very hard to find. The anticipation of our needs exceed our expectations. David Hernandez is server extraordinaire. Oh the menu and food! We had many of the items. Each dish was flawlessly prepared, the perfect temperature with extraordinary, balanced flavors. The offerings are inviting and even a picky eater will be pleased. The bread and butter is truly the best in Houston.

Beautiful, new French restaurant in the Thompson Hotel. Arriving at 9pm, the restaurant was lively, loud and vibrant. We were sat in the bar area, which disappointed some but the service and meal made up for the table location. We started with an appetizer Bisous tower that gave a sample of their greatest hits. The foie gras macaron was a stand out. The Crab Endive "Caesar" was different, excellent. The duck entree was served two ways - confit and the classic breast in a fig reduction. Literally two entrees as one. Very good. The wine list leans a little pricey but nothing more than other good establishments in Houston. Drop in for a beautiful and tasty meal.

Made reservations last minute about a week and they were able to accommodate table for 9. The interior is very beautiful, very romantic and chic. There's s good amount of seats and they even have a private room. We came during dinner time and enjoyed the Houston Restaurant week menu for $55. I had salad and duck and crème brûlée. Drinks are good, great selection between $16-20 very pretty. Lighting was perfect and it was not too loud . Parking is tough. Lot is small with other restaurants to share. - Valet $10.85 paid via app. Staff was attentive and friendly. I can't wait to come back for brunch.

Dined in on a Saturday at 9 pm with a party of 4, the hostess couldn't find my reservation in their system so I showed her my email confirmation. Request for David! He's such a doll and remembered all of our names! The only table available was right in front of the door. It was extremely windy and cold, and the door kept swinging wide open and getting stuck. The restaurant is romantic and very cute! Every thing we ordered was delicious! Cocktails are on point. We ordered: Complimentary bread and butter: so addicting! 1/2 dozen raw PEI oysters: super clean and shucked to perfection 1/2 dozen boiled oysters Rockefeller: creamy goodness! Great flavors. Spice pouched gulf shrimp: good size shrimp but the spice didn't have any flavor Crab & endive Caesar: delicious flavors 16oz Wagyu ribeye: our server didn't ask how we wanted it cooked but he some how knew we liked it medium rare. It was cooked perfectly! The ribeye was so tender! The au poivre sauce in top of the steak was very good. It came with a small order of crispy fries and the PERFECT garlic aioli! Côte d'Azur spiritz: tastes like lychee, not sweet, and super refreshing! Au Revoir: nice mezcal goodness Dirty martini: perfect dirtiness Side car: perfectly made

Chardon was a moment. We went the first night of Houston Restaurant Weeks and ordered the $65 three-course... but they ran us four. Say less. Now, a few things. We booked for 9:30 PM thinking we'd have time to enjoy the experience. It took about 15 minutes just to get greeted, and when the server finally came over, we said we weren't sure what we wanted yet - and he immediately rushed us because the kitchen was closing soon. If the kitchen closes at 10, don't offer 9:30 reservations. Simple. Now let's talk food: First course - Pain d'Épi (baguette, butter, olive oil): 10/10 - Chickpea Panisse with fried capers: 8/10 Second course - Caramelized Onion Soup Gratinée: 8/10 - Smoked Salmon Rillettes on sourdough: 7/10 Main course - Fried Chicken Paillard with frisée + tomato confit: 8.5/10 - Wagyu Beef Cheek Bourguignon: 8/10 Dessert - Profiteroles with salted caramel ice cream: 10/10 - Fraisier aux Fraises: 8/10 The vibe was there. The plating was gorgeous. But if you're booking a late table, go in knowing the energy might shift. Would I come back? Absolutely. Just not at 9:30.

    Stuffed-deviled blue crab, avocado tartine

Came for HRW brunch: 2 courses, 8 menu items to choose from. My friend and I visited for the first time to try the HRW menu and celebrate her birthday. I had high hopes based on the reviews and elegant atmosphere - even considered it for my own birthday dinner - but now I'm not so sure. Though I had a reservation, the restaurant was nearly empty when we arrived around 1pm. Still, it took a while for our server, Chad, to greet us. He apologized, saying he was handling something else, which we understood. However, his tone during ordering felt passive-aggressive. He remarked we were speaking "too quickly" and complained about not being able to read the menu upside down. When we later asked for cocktail recs, he pointed out - a bit curtly - that we were looking at the happy hour menu (next to the cocktails), mentioned he doesn't drink, and left it at that. No offer to help or refer someone else. We eventually asked another server for drink recs, and she was much more helpful. Chad's attitude improved later, but the awkward first impression stuck. On the bright side, the host, the helpful server, and the viola player were all lovely. The food was mediocre. We had the avocado tartine, deviled blue crab (+$15), pain perdu, croque monsieur, and two cocktails - around $110 total. Both the tartine and croque monsieur had bread that was overly tough. Drinks were good, but overall, the uneven service and just-average food left us underwhelmed.

One and done for me. I'm a firm believer that if you're paying premium prices, everything needs to be on point--service, food, and overall experience. Unfortunately, this place missed the mark. Yes, the restaurant is very pretty, and the ambiance was lovely, but that's where the positives end. The service was subpar. Our waiter was noticeably cranky and borderline aggressive, making us uncomfortable to even ask for something simple like extra bread. We ended up asking a very kind gentleman in a suit (who wasn't even our server) instead, just to avoid the attitude. The food? Decent, but definitely not "out of this world" French cuisine. For the price, I expected something more refined and memorable. What really bothered us, though, was the way we were treated compared to the table next to us--who happened to be of a different ethnicity. It felt like we weren't given the same level of attention or care, and that left a really bad impression. Calling yourself a fine dining restaurant doesn't make you one. It's about the full package--from the welcome at the door to the quality of the food and the professionalism of the staff. Sadly, this place didn't deliver.

No. It is not a casual restaurant.

Even this time the GPS took us to an entrance that had us going the wrong way down a one-way, but we eventually figured it out I will say that the parking isn't all that great, but we were able to find a spot. If the parking lot is full you should be able to find street parking nearby Kanpai Club is a sister location to Handos. They share a kitchen and you can walk through an inside door access either. You can find the same cocktails and bites from Handos on the Kanpai menu, but there's also additional drinks and bites The bar feels like a Japanese Izakaya. It's a narrow space resembling a Japanese outdoor bar. It's intimately lit and well decorated. We did have to wait for two spots to open up, but that didn't take too long The bartenders were friendly, professional, and efficient. We went on a Friday night (fairly late), and they had two dedicated bartenders The cocktails were fun and were beautifully crafted. Most were served in novelty glassware. You can order classic cocktails, but both Kanpai and Hando offer a variety of signature cocktails. Most having some sort of Japanese or Asian fusion. They have beer, wine, and extensive sake list, as well as green tea and other nonalcoholic options The cocktails were tasty. The only one I was iffy on was their Espresso martini. It was poured from a machine and I guess there were having issues with it. The presentation was phenomenal. There was a roasted marshmallow garnish. The drink itself was far too Smokey in flavor than I like, or at least in terms of my espresso martinis The Yuzu Kosho fries were incredible. The flavors really hit the spot. The Okinawa Potato salad was both questionable to looks and and to eat lol. This purple mound of potato's had an interesting taste, look, and consistency. Midtown with their questionable parking makes me not want to go. Upon entering, the place is a nice, intimate setting, with a handful of seating areas along with bar and outside seating. Recommend bringing a light jacket as it was a bit cold. The menu had a variety of offerings, and noted that all drinks are $12. They are card only, so bring your card or tap to pay and also your ID. Because they are 3 feet from a school and are considered a private club, they comply with TABC regulations to ensure safety and efficiency in their business. From the variety of the drinks, I opted for my signature drink, an Old Fashioned, it definitely had a bite to it. I slowly sipped on it while I lounged in one of the seating areas. My sister tried the Starduster Ranch Water, and she didn't like it, I had a sip of it and it tasted like only way I can describe is like soap. Saw that they also have Mocktails and THC Beverages, I didn't try any of them. We headed out as we were trying to grab dinner and Starduster doesn't currently offer food. I did get to speak with Dylan again outside and he clued me in on a couple of things they are planning to do such as having food trucks and also open the upstairs for additional space. Overall, I know being new (had just opened last week) there are many things being worked on and do hope that things improve here and they add additional seating, it got busy for a bit and seating was standing only. Thankfully I was there early enough and got a nice cozy seating area. I removed a star because both my drink and my sister weren't really anything special, it tasted like they were premade and poured from a tap, I missed seeing each one be made. I did like that there aren't TV's inside, it helps maintain the personal interactions natural and focused. Outside they do have TV's which makes sense for bigger groups. Though the seating is limited inside, likely to maintain it as a cozy and intimate space, outside has a lot of seating AND they are PET FRIENDLY! In cold weather without heating lamps, don't think anyone would really sit out there. Once spring and summer arrive, it will be nice. On their menu they indicate "Weekly Specials" Spaghetti Western Sundays Monday Night Steak Night (not sure why it wasn't happening the day I was there, would've enjoyed some steak) Tarot Tuesdays Whiskey Wednesday
