First off, let me give myself 1 out of 5 stars for tying my Centurylink and Verizon bills together 2 years ago....and 1 star for not paying attention to autopay....and 1 star for not disconnecting service after I moved. Misinformation. Misinformation. Misinformation. When I set up CenturyLink online, they told me that I would get free installation over the Internet. Surprise! They ended up charging me $59.99 (or whatever it is they charge). Secondly, when they came to set up, they were told we had already bought a modem; so they say, "keep this one [ours]. You won't be charged for it anyway." Surprise! I get charged $8.99 a month for "rent" on this modem that I didn't need. So I call and tell them I have a modem, so they promise to reverse charges and fix the issue. Surprise! I'm charged $8.99 again this month. I called the helpline, and all they said is that I am getting charged for the rented modem, because I didn't return it. I am just VERY annoyed that they keep misinforming us. It is like the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing. Update: Speeds were crappy, we were promised 40 Mbps, but it seems like they throttle the speed. I had to restart the modem several times because pages took forever to load. The only one pro is the customer service (though incompetent at times) is extremely friendly and polite on the phone (hence the 2 stars instead of 1.) read more

I have had Century-link internet at home for a little over a year now, and we had it at the office I manage for quite a few years. My bill for my home internet changes every month. I have a 12 month contract for $29.95/mo but after taxes, modem rental and a fee for not using the automatic payment option, my bill is around $60/month. My bill for two months of service recently was $145. HOW?? The business account was far worse. Choppy phone service and the internet would go down at least 1x a week if not 3 to 4x a week. We finally cancelled our business account after complaining every week to them, and they had the nerve to charge us cancellation fees! I've had to call them at least 3 times and be on the phone with them (while still trying to run a busy office) for at least 30 minutes at a time. Not to mention I get transferred around at least 3 times and I have to explain myself all over again once I am transferred. Extremely frustrating customer service, and awful internet connections. After such bad experiences, I wouldn't recommend Century Link to anyone. read more

I had every intention to sign up for internet but so glad I didn't. Do they train their customer service agents?! I'm dumbfounded. I started the convo by honestly saying that I was considering switching but had not made up my mind. First, the agent couldn't even give me a quote and said all my information needed to be entered in and that could take a while. Then when I inquired about a quote online for $X for Y speed in my area, she emphatically states that nobody should sign up online. She threatened that if I signed up online, the technician would probably no-show and I would still get charged. She said that only she would be able to get me the most prompt set-up time. I calmly asked why she was sabotaging her own company just for a little commission. She continued to explain how much she loved working for her company and commission is only $10 anyway. I should've stopped there, but I let her continue... After she rambled 5 numbers and asked if I wanted to sign up, I asked her if she could clarify what I would be paying monthly. She then stated, " I can't go back to that screen. I think it was XYZ. Let's just start over." Starting to pull my hair out now. Because she stated that century link does not place anyone on a contract, I asked her to see if I could get a rate that would be locked in for 2 years. She happily agreed. I asked twice to verify that there was no contract and no early termination fee if I was unhappy with the service. She confirmed on both accounts. Fast forward 2 minutes. "So this is just me being perfectly honest with you, you could be charged something like $200 if you cancel before 2 years." I ask, "Didn't we just discuss this as NOT being the case? And btw if you weren't being honest with me about that, that would be fraud" She replied, "Well this screen popped up and I had to tell you the conditions. I have never seen it before. This is the first time I have ever seen it." "Thank you for your time, but I'm just not interested. I feel misled. " End discussion. Well I guess they are willing to do anything for a sale... including lying to your face. Or maybe she was just that bad. I have had century link Internet for a few years now and have never had a problem. They have given me discounts on several occasions just for being a loyal customer. Their internet has always been reliable. Just recently I moved apartments and it didn't have a phone jack to plug the router in. My apartment manager was suuuuper unhelpful with the situation. So, when I called century link, they sent someone within the hour and they figured out how to set it up quickly! Century link is much cheaper than its competitors, but still great quality and customer service. read more

It states in the headline - Call now and save on High Speed Internet + Dish TV Get High-Speed satellite internet - 35 Mbps Available 2-year TV Price Guarantee. It then lists the 2 options for TV one at $59.99 and one at $69.99/mo. Below then is the information on Channel Choice which is the local Dish Premier retailer. I think this ad is misleading - seems to offer both Dish and High speed satellite internet for the same price. It does not! First, Dish does not offer internet - that would be through a different retailer depending on your address and that price would not be included nor guaranteed. Once again - a chance to get folks to subscribe without having all the facts. When I called the rep who answered was not really able to answer my question as to whether the internet and tv were all the one guaranteed price. She had to transfer me to her manager who then admitted that the prices listed are only for TV! read more

I have only praises for both Jonas and Micah... and I am surprised to see that the other reviewer was so angry... My situation was that I purchased a home in the Tempe area and I was only going to be in town for two days to get the house all set-up before bringing out the family. I really had no time to stay on the phone and deal with setting up both television and internet services. (And yet, it is hard these days to not have both wi-fi and tv) I happened to stumble upon this business while getting a Starbucks coffee and thought I would go inside and offer them my situation to see if they had any ideas. Lo and behold, they set me up for installations right then and I had both a satellite tv system and wi-fi installed by noon the next morning. Who does that? I switched from Cox to Century Link to try to save a little money since I was being majorly price-gouged by cox communications. So far Century Link wifi is a nightmare. I specifically asked if I could stream Netflix shows without any interruptions and the century link representative assured me that was not going to be a problem whatsoever. NOT TRUE. It's Always buffering. Then to get a hold of anyone is difficult, after 35 minutes of waiting and being transferred repeatedly, I finally talked to someone who clearly didn't give a **** about helping in any way. When I received the bill, it wasn't what the rep had told me to expect. He also told me someone will be available 24 hours a day 7 days a week for technical questions. Also NOT TRUE. I'm so beyond frustrated with this nightmare company. I have given up on calling because I can never reach anyone. Last time the system told me to call a different number and then hung up on me. So deceptive! I decided to switch my internet from Xfinity to Century Link because it was half the price. When I ordered it, I was clear I was only getting internet and that I had a VOIP Phone (internet phone) at my house. They failed to mention to me at the sign up that their internet had to go through a hard line phone, which I don't have. Once the service arrived and I saw the set up instructions, it was clear this would not work for me at all. I called to cancel and I was pleasantly surprised that they said no problem and didn't hassle me at all BUT then I get my final bill and they charged me $200 for canceling (which they did not mention in my phone conversation with them. Worst customer service! Should be a case study in how to go against every customer service principle in modern business. It's like cable service in the 80s! Expect to take off of work, lose wages while you wait for a tech, call them to figure out the 4 hour window- they won't communicate this ahead of time. When they give you the 4 hour time frame they will not show up- no call no show. When you try to call, you will be told they are "closed" at 4p? When the business hours are clearly until 6p. Then call acting like you want to "start new service" and you WILL get a live agent- who will tell you that the tech will be there at "6p". Conveniently- because they WILL be closed after that tech doesn't show up. Call the next morning and they will act like nothing is documented anywhere on the account, blah blah blah. On an on. I have only had Century Link for 3 months, I was warned about how slow and bad their service was, I did not heed the warning and now I have to pay $200 to get out of my contract. It is worth $200 not to have to deal with the frustrations of dealing with them and their ESL customer service techs. Half the price of the competition with similar speeds. Have to reset the modem about once a week (unplug and replug the power) but that's about it. Speed test shows enough power for me to stream movies and play online games at the same time, and I've had success doing so. Hard to believe the hate ads against them after actually using their product. We recently signed up for internet service through CenturyLink, and were very impressed with the level of service we received from our tech (April). When she first came to our house to connect service, she discovered there was an issue (blocked conduit) that prevented us from connecting that day. However, she was very persistent and communicative with our situation, and turned what could have been a bad experience into a great one. Once the issue was resolved, she returned to our house to connect service, and were blown away by how awesome and friendly she was. She spent time connecting our service, showing us how to connect our devices to the network, and even gave us some tips for a faster connection. She was great, and CenturyLink is fortunate to have her as the face of the company out in the field. Thanks for everything! read more

I have had CenturyLink for over 3 years now. I paid my bill through their website and got a confirmation number for the payment however apparently I put in my payment information incorrectly. They didn't let me know that and then turn off my service. They emailed me yesterday morning letting me know that they hadn't received my payment. I emailed them with my payment confirmation number as I was at work and couldn't call them. I didn't hear from them but when I got home they had suspended my service. I contacted them today and they told me they were going to charge me an extra $14 which included a $3 "convince fee" I asked them how I could not pay that they said if I went onto their website to pay it but then I would be charge a $25 fee to restart my service!! Needless to say I said I am taking my business elsewhere. Poor customer service shouldn't be tolerated and won't be! read more

I was charged significantly more than the written quote I was given and even though I still had it in writing they refused to give me the price quoted AFTER service began. They did not send a bill until after the 30 day cancellation policy was over and then refused to cancel without a $400 payment for early termination. I'd like to say that CenturyLink has been an upgrade from Comcast, but that would be a bold face lie. Not only did they initially screw up our order (Direct TV saved the day no thanks to CenturyLink) but they have been extremely difficult to work with and have continually messed up our billing the last three months. We thought we would be getting a better deal when signing up since they convinced us that we were probably only 5mbps of internet with Comcast's shared system and that 7mb would be more than enough to stream, watch movies and be on our personal devices because it is a hard line into the house. Since that was the only available option for our area and we trusted the representative who we were speaking to, we decided to switch since our contract with Comcast had just finished. Well, turns out that we really are only getting 1-2mbps, but only found this out when we realized it was going to take 8 hours for our movie on Apple TV to be ready to watch. The frosting on top of an already frustrating situation was when my husband called to speak to customer service today (since they are never available at convenient times) and the representative essentially called him a liar for being upset that we felt they had been dishonest since no one would ever have told him that 7mbps would have been enough to watch a movie. Seriously?! Not only did she call him a liar, but then followed it up with "you should have done your research." If it wasn't $200 to cut ties with them, then we would be done for good and just stay with DirectTV because they are the only ones in this situation that have been helpful. The blatant unwillingness to take responsibility for your crappy service and dishonest sales tactics, blaming your customers for "not knowing better" and then not being willing to do anything to help remedy the situation is beyond frustrating and disappointing. I called today to have my services disconnected tomorrow the 19th since we were moving and switching to cox. I spoke with a woman who said they do not do disconnections on the weekend and it would have to be disconnected on Monday the 21st. I agreed and we went thru the process of getting it into the system. Around 6pm today our internet isn't working on any of our devices. I call to see what the trouble was and the guy told me that it had been disconnected by request of the customer. I told him it was scheduled for Monday and that I needed it tonight to print the rest of our moving docs. After being given the run around by him and others in the company I gave up. I'm so glad we are going somewhere else. The internet always went out, Netflix and Hulu were a pain to use with centurylink. When it decided to work. Cox definitely loves to consistently take your money and maybe even your first born, but at least their internet is better with better customer service. read more
